hi, I want to buy some nfc tags and play around. I didnt find a faq here so I made a new thread.
I want to do this:
I want the nfc tag to turn on wifi and disable mobile data. If I interact with the tag and my wifi is on, I want it to turn it off and enable mobile date.
I come home -> enable wifi / disable mobile data
I leave -> disable wifi / enable mobile data
is this possible? how would I do this?
thx!

ok so today I bought an HTC wildfire S with an internet dataplan.
Presently have an IPAD 1 without the 3G option so needed to find a mobile phone that can tether with it. They recommended me this mobile as they said it needs to have the wifi hotspot option.
Can someone link me to some info on what is needed to be installed and setup to make it work with my IPAD.
Thanks to all.
Hi,
Your phone already have all it needs for tethering. Just go to setings>Wireless&networks > portable wi-fi hotspot setings and set all parameters you like (SSID name, security type -wep, wap, wap2 ans set a password). After go back to wireless & networks and activate portable wi-fi hotspot (before that you have to activate Mobile network, otherwise will be a wi-fi network without internet connexion) and voila... you should see the new created wi-fi netword with the SSID you chose on your Ipad wi-fi manager.
Good luck
Thanks....
felt stupid after I switched on for the first time my mobile and found the Wifi hotspot in the menu thought it was an app I had to download....
I use my Mobile Hotspot to tether my Nexus 7 tablet in my car. I am running 5.0.1 Lollipop.
As soon as I turn the car off, the Mobile Hotspot turns off and the WiFi is turned on again. The phone will connect to my home wireless hotspot but there is no data tranfer.
Instagram says "Can't refresh feed" and Chrome cannot connect to the web.
In order to fix the problem I usually need to restart the device and then it will connect to WiFi will full connectivity again.
Any ideas?
Is my Mobile Hotspot locking something up in Android, like the MAC Address or IP Address or something until I reboot?
I've come across a quick fix I suppose. If I follow the steps below then I don't need to reboot the device to get the WiFi to work again:
1) Turn off Wifi before enabling Mobile Hotspot
2) Enable Mobile Spot
3) Turn off Mobile Hotspot when finished with it
4) Manually re-enable WiFi once Hotspot is off
Seems the issue stems from keeping the WiFi on when enabling the Mobile Hotspot. The Note 4 will automatically disable WiFi and re-enable WiFi on it's own if you do not manually disable the WiFi beforehand thus leading to the no internet connection issue.
Still curious what the actual issue is though.
UPDATE 10/14/2015: Seems as though the method I described above does not even work as a foolproof method for getting the WiFi to work properly again after hotspotting. Reboot is the only way to get it to work again. It's very temperamental.
I have been experiencing this same issue. I didn't link it to turning the mobile hotspot on and off until you mentioned it. I also have to reboot the phone to make Wi-Fi work again.

Hello everybody.
I have a strange problem regarding the Nexus 5x with wifi tethering/access point mode.
I can turn on wifi hotspot by:
settings --> more --> Tethering & portable hotspot --> Portable wifi hotspot enable the slider.
After that I can disable it with the quick access panel.
However I cannot enable it by the quick access panel. This also prevents apps like tasker to automate this setting.
I would like to have hotspot turned on when I enter my car (bluetooth connected)
I live in the netherlands and have a Vodafone account.
Many thanks for your input.
Hello.
I would like to know if there are two things possible in the ASUS Zenfone Software.
1. WLAN Hotspot without Mobile Data
Mobile Hotspot -> ON
Mobile Data -> OFF
WLAN -> ON
So you could connect and login to a WLAN Network with limited devices and share it over your Phone to the Laptop or whatever.
Actually i just know that Samsung can handle this, but this wan't be a Phone for me.
2. WLAN and Mobile Data connected at the same time (Probably you hat to activate this in the Developer Mode).
Mobile Data -> ON
WLAN -> ON
Both of them have to be connected at the same time, so you have to see the WiFi Symbol and also the 3G/4G/LTE Symbol at the same time.
To test this, you can connect to a WLAN withouth Internet access (put the cable out) and then you should be able to open your Browser and surf over the Mobile Data connection, even the WLAN is connected.
Huawei can handle this, but first you have to activate this option in the Developer Mode.
Hello,
My device is A505F/DS
Mobile hotspot is generally weak in range.
To get less interference from other 2.4ghz signals, would be better if i had the ability to change the Broadcast channel.
Is it possible??
You probably figured this out already, but if you go to Mobile Hotspot under settings, you need to disable Wi-Fi sharing option. Then go to Configure Mobile Hotspot (from 3 dot menu) and click Show advanced options. You can set channel from tehre now.
You can set channel only if Wi-Fi sharing is DISABLED!!! If it's enabled, the option to change channel will not appear.
nb! Wi-Fi sharing has nothing to do with sharing internet over hotspot, so it doesn't need to be on.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
It doesn't show me the advanced settings checkmark with wifi sharing off by default
