I can not get help from my companies IT guy to help me set up my work email on my phone. Is there any way around getting it setup with out him? I have tried K9 app with no help. I have found some apps that cost more than i want to spend if they are not going to work without the IT guys help. I am thinking this will be a big fat no. But, if there is a way I know someone here will know.

What kind of email provider are you using(gmail, yahoo etc). If its a well known provider there should be a free app on the play store. Once you have the app just follow instructions on how to set it up. Or if y
Thanks for the response. After messing with this most of the night and researching and reading a lot. I found a work around this to make it work. Now just to see if our IT guy catches it. Hopefully I am good.

We use exchange at work and phone access is not allowed. I forward all my work email to gmail. That does not let me reply with my phone, but my office sends outage alerts to email, so I see them and can call in to respond. Not the greatest did, but it gets around an IT department that will not allow remote access.

Yeah I think that way is the best way around it without having extra programming to the access program commands.

been using handcent and love it but i run into problems with it all the time. this time it is with the vip package. handcent will not let me login unless i am on the rom that i installed it on which is cm6. the message i get is that your account already bind a device! ive sent them an email asking if there is an easy way to unbind my account from my device but havent gotten a response yet. i was wondering if any of you have run into this problem and if you have found a workaround. thanks
Hi - I have run into the same problem on my Desire - did you get a reply from them on what to do if you get this message? I haven't changed phone but i have updated to a never version of DeFrost....
Switch to chompsms, it's almost the same thing. Also, handcent prevents your phone from sleeping, if you have the spare parts app and it will show you. Hope that helped.

Is there an app or software to track my kids text messages? My teen daughter is having too many phone calls from boys and ain't even in high school yet but won't answer them in front of me and always txt back. Can anyone help me?
impossible i think
Text forward in the market for 7 bucks. It has to be installed on her phone, just saw it in the market, never used it, but it sounds like what you want...good luck!
text tracker is another good one from what ive read. Like the other app mentioned, it has to be installed on the phone you want to track. I believe its $5.99 on the market.
derek
good luck, my daughter is 14, and i hope i wont be needing this software myself.
My kid only has Google voice to text with. It keeps all text online for me to view.

sms tracking
i use a fantastic app called Stealth Tracker that sends me an instant copy of all texts and calls from my kids phones to my gmail ... without them even knowing! i got to try it for free, and it worked amazing. then i only had to pay like $7 to get the full version. i love that the app is hidden on the phone... there is no icon that shows on there apps. hope this helps.
Not impossible, but definitely illegal and immoral. Don't spy on your kids, talk to them. They will hate you even more if they find out you've been spying on them.

Hi Guys.
yesterday I helped a friend upgrade her galaxy nexus to JB, and I asked her whether she had anything important on her phone she said no.
Turns out I wiped the phone, and when i ask her to sign to her google account to bring her contacts she doesnt know her gmail!
We try to use google account recovery using her email addresses but turns out none of them were used when the new account was setup.
I did take an application backup with halaxy nexus toolkit, but it seems it's just that. apps with no google account info.
Anyone has any idea that might help me? I'd really appreaciate it.
Hire a nice hacker to hack the password, then change it. Fast.

yeah I did, but they might take a while.
When I set her up, we didnt put any security questions or anything, so it'll be very difficult to recover through google.
I'm thinking whether somehow I can have a look at the apks or the .bak file we took, and find the username at least , in this way at least
I can tell google where to look
Normally you would have had to use a secondary email address when signing up for Gmail for password reset reasons. Is there an option for that when trying to reset password?

We had a try at the password recovery using an email address that we think it's correct (usual combination of name/birth year etc)
Once you go into the gmail password recovery page It shows you part of the email address (the domain is ok but the rest is blacked out)
I recognize the domain name being something I usually use as a fake email when I'm trying something quickly. so I'm pretty sure we got her email address right now.
Unfortunately due to the domain being fake I can't recover her password using that email address.
I remember writing her newly created email and password in a piece of paper and saying. once you get home change the password and update all your details to the correct. ( well that didn't happen :-/ )
If she's ever signed in through her PC and saved her passwords through her browser then you could recover it from the saved passwords list.

I hope for your own sake, that she didn't just store her contacts locally. I saw that many times, especially women usually don't bother and keep hacking their numbers in just like that, without thinking about setting up sync or contact cloud beforehand. Good luck!

Any chance that she has all her contacts stored on her SIM card?
If so, just create a new Google account and restore her apps...

Actually, when she got the new phone, I think the way I copied all the contacts from her older phone was into the SIM, put the old SIM into the new phone and imported them.. (my memory is bad, but that kinda makes sense for coming from a dumbphone to an android)
I just asked her and she might still have the old phone and the old SIM. so maybe there is a chance there, gotta wait for her to go home and try to find it..
This will definitely teach me a lesson.
take a freaking nandroid, whatever your friends say!
PS: I reckon I'm stressing more about this than she is.. if it happened to me i'd be a royal pain in the bum.

Hope it works out, man.
And I know what you mean, messing with other peoples phones is a bit more stressful than if you mess up your own.
Happened to me just recently, sweated myself thin till I figured out where to find the right baseband and give him back his reception... :banghead:
You're the one they trust, a sworn XDAer, flash-a-holic crazy phone guy. If they can't get redemption from you, how will they make it in this tech-crazed world?

Ok this may be in the wrong section but I apologize, My wife has a Samsung Fascinate and I just rooted it put JB cm10 on it. I'm not sure why she is doing it but she is erasing her texts from a guy we know. yeah not cool right. Anyway is there a way I can see those texts before or after she erases them, I am the account owner on the phone as well. I just want to know why they are being erased from just him and the acount usage shows they clearly are texting all day.
This is the wrong forum, use your phones forums. Your wife is also probably cheating on you since she clearly has something to hide.
I'm not sure of a forwarding app, but something like sms backup+ will backup sms to email so you can see them there.

If you are the primary, then you might not. You could just try and see - don't tell them why, just say you need to see them. That said, you should probably just talk to her.

Yeah. You don't want to accuse her of cheating on you, or treat her like she is. It could be something else. I know that there probably isn't any relationship advice on xda, lol, but you really should just talk to her and ask her what's up. Tell her what's on your mind. I wish you the best of luck.

I'm going to venture a guess here and suggest that the reason she took your phone might have something to do with what you've been doing with it. I'm not accusing you of anything necessarily, but parents always try to protect their kids. Maybe it's time you have a conversation with your mother and try to understand what her concerns are. You may not completely understand now, but some day when you have kids of your own, you will.
As a more direct answer to your question, no - unless you already have remote access set up on your device, there's no way to access it. There are certain apps such as Google Find My Device which will wipe the device remotely but again it has to be set up and authorized on the device in the first place.
Again, my advice here is to sit down with your mom and hear her out. If you're not an adult, she has the right to know what you're up to, and if you're trying to hide something from her, it's probably because you know you shouldn't be doing it. She loves you and she wants you to be safe, and my own personal experiences with text messages as a teenager means she probably has every right to be worried.
