Bootloop - help - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I have a little problem, my EVO started to bootloop without any reasons.
It can't pass the white HTC, and cant get to recovery.
It was rooted on unrevoke long time ago and last rom (rooted stock rom) and kernel (antrax) was loaded like 3-4 weeks ago. All worked fine till today, and now it's bootlooping like crazy.
I have H-boot 2.10.0001
radio 2.15.00.12.19.
I took the sd out, cleard the storage but still nothing.
Any ideas how to fix this issue.

Sounds like what mine was doing a few weeks back. I used the bootloader to ruu it back to stock and took it to sprint, a couple solder points broke loose on the motherboard. They couldn't fix it so they replaced it. Had my replacement rooted the same day.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

Do you have a link where I can read how to do that? and download ruu?
I wil try to load a rom through the hboot first.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587635
Going back to completely stock?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

I did push S-ON and RUU but I cant get the s-on to show up.
(I did used older RUU, should I use the latest one?)
Any ideas?

I don't know, that pc36img worked for me. I'm at a loss
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

Which RUU did you flash?

The 4.54 update
I don't know if it made a difference but I flashed the s on image first
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

There are two names for those files
RUU and PC36, which one? I bet this is all the same
One more question, when you flashed S-on could you see it right away
after the re-boot?

The ruu I ran was named a pc36img so I could run it thru the bootloader. And yes when I rebooted I was s on
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

I did flash that s-on like 10 times and still shows s-off
this phone is starting to make me angry

thx
thanks for all your help and keep it up with the good job :good:

I don't know what else to tell u, maybe someone else will chime in. Sorry bro
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

Try this think it will work for your version I don't have the evo on hands atm or I would try to help ya out.

I can flash everything thru the hboot but I just can't get the s-on
and I don't think doing RUU.exe will fix that

I say just take it in to sprint with a stockish rom they shouldn't have a problem with it being rooted well at least I never had one..and if they do just take it home and keep trying to unroot.
Sent from my htc_jewel using XDA

Yes uber numismatic correct if they can boot it up and see s on but can't get past boot then to them that's stock they will try the number combination to factory reset and all if it doesn't work then you get a new phone
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA

Try the procedure in my Sig for unrooting Revolutionary. That should take care of it.

I did try all the options and still nothing.
I went to sprint store, show them what is going on and they said wait, I will fix it in 15 min.
Well, he had 2 news for me, first - good - I can upgrade my phone
second - bad - still boot loops because I have water damage - BS
My phone was never near the water and battery indicator is like brand new.
I will open the phone and look what are they talking about.
I'm done with Sprint and their ****ty service and warranty policy.
I open my phone and that's what I found - do you guys think this should qualify as a water damage, because to me it's not even close, they just want me to upgrade and stay with sprint

No, this is a Froyo ROM for the DI2.
I'm not telling anyone to try this right now but, shouldn't you rename it to update.zip, place on SD card, and apply update.zip? Since it is official HTC firmware, I don't see why it wouldn't work. But then again, I've never owned an HTC device in my life so.... yeh.

if you are rooted with s-off the idea may work, but coming from a stock 2.3
gb us folks dont have s-off nor a recovery so its not possible for that unless
somehow we can get s-off and root,it was just a test i wanted to try and and see
where it would go
Yeah but can't you do it from stock recovery? My Fascinate was able to do something like this as well but on not so sure about HTC devices.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
Its an RUU not an update.zip, it will not flash through recovery.
You can't flash it because you can't downgrade without temp root.
On the inc 1, we have RUUs that can be flashed in hboot. I think that's the gist of what he was saying?
Shipped ROMs
I downloaded the the Dinc2 Froyo from Shipped ROMs, ran the exe and while the RUU was asking for the connection, I went to my C:/_TEMP folder and found the data1.cab was 317 mb. in a folder with 22 different language .ini files.
the rom.zip was 313 mb.

I think this is the one to rename to what the stock bootloader is looking for.
I don't have my DInc2 yet but if it comes with GB forcefed on it, I will try this..
If u change the file and rezip it wont flash cause its not signed lol. Dont waste ur time trying little tweaks they have already been tried..

Are you using an international GS2?
No.
Then why the heck would you flash an international rom?
well i was think they were all the same
If the past threads are any indication your pretty much out of luck.

Try using Odin to go back to full stock if you can get into download mode. I think that's your only hope
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I think only mobile odin might be able to help you as you cannot see the device n your computer. If you can get the APK for mobile odin which can be found on XDA, put it on you sd card an install, then get an stock odin Rom and run it from your phone.
Can you also edit your title of this thread, it is pretty deceiving...
Hopefully this method works for you.
Yes I agree quite a few people have done this and lets not have anyone else get themselves caught up like you did. Please change the title and edit out your first post stating what happened to you... Good Luck
You're lucky it even booted and that it is not completely FUBARed. Since you can't connect to odin, as stated, try mobile ODIN.

Yup, Mobile Odin is the only option if you can't connect to PC
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
i hear that the bluetooth is the only radio that works. so. get the mobile odin apk, bluetooth transfer that over and hopefully you have a ODIN rom on there already cuz, frankly, it will be an insane pain in the ass to transfer one over bluetooth.
I guess a kernel/recovery would be easier and get your usb connected...
good luck.
well it look like im have to Bluetooth everything in a min imma put a video of the damage i have done to myself

Just to add more salt to the OP's wound: lulz.
Listen to the guys who are telling you to flash back through mobile ODIN, that's probably the only way you're going to get back to a normal working state on your phone.
IMO there are two hurdles with Mobile ODIN:
1) I believe it requires root, which you wouldn't have after flashing the stock Intl software
2) If this phone isn't being recognized even when it can be booted to ODIN D/L mode, then the USB support in the bootloader is already messed up. I don't believe Mobile ODIN can flash the bootloader
Hopefully I'm wrong and you can get it working.
Flash a kernel with clockwork on mobile odin... And then flash everything u need

There is a Guy on the forums that can jTag it. Should work, but i do believe his services come with a fee.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I did the same thing to my phone
Sorry to be the person with the worst news that you really dont want to hear but
the phone is toast......there is only one option that can help you .....JTAG this is a service that fixes this for 50 bucks they will reflash the system back to it and get it working again mobile odin wont work because when you flashed the rom it took out the root so mobile wont work only way is 1 jtag service or if your lucky like i was send it back(within warranty period) and say it was a bad flash of an ota update that came through .......hope this helps but i have did this and everything you could think is not gonna work only what i just told you trust me it pissed me off so bad that i didn't read the post before i flashed it
Really sorry to hear.
This could be why manufacturers want to lock the bootloader so this doesn't happen.
You wouldn't think someone who would attempt this would be this foolish...

recovery unable to flash zip files

I recently got a Samsung Epic 4G Touch and immediately flashed the system to ICS, using SFHub's stock rooted FF18.
Phone works great with that rom. But I was trying to apply Kobridge's tweak pack and discovered that recovery is not letting me install .zip files.
I reboot into recovery fine, and can choose "apply update from sd card .zip" fine. I can navigate to the file fine. When I select it though, it immediately switches to an android bot lying down, with its hood open and a red triangle above it.
I then have to pull the battery to re-boot the phone. It boots into normal startup fine, but the tweak has not been applied.
I tried several versions, and other zips, and it doesn't seem to want to let me install anything that way.
Ideas? I'd rather not have to put CWM on the phone or a different rom on the phone just yet.
That is because the install update zips are for official sprint/Samsung upgrades. To flash those you need CWM.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
You're going to need CWM or another custom recovery to flash anything on your phone
Now I feel like an idiot. I thought the version I got had a working recovery in it, but you're right - it didn't.
I installed Agat's and it's working fine now.
Thanks for the help!

ROOTED Verizon GS4 & Safestrap ROM install ERROR
Good day everyone!
I seem to have bumped into a problem im hoping someone on here can possibly help with.
I successfully rooted my Verizon Galaxy S4 on ME7 and got safestrap installed. I followed all the steps correctly then
I downloaded the Hyperdrive ROM but when I get to the install step for the ROM, it gives me a error saying "The zip cannot be flashed " or something of that matter. Anyone know a way to fix this or work around it?
Anyones help is truly appreciated.

Even though you're in the wrong forum... It sounds like a bad download, try redownloading the ROM.

There has been many examples of this but I'm afraid it doesn't help. Some developers already have devices s-off by official ways.

You could always swap it for my s-on hox, that would be helping the community (well helping me)

No you just reboot in bootloader

I just tried that and my phone just booted up normally but it took longer than usual. And I got a message that said something like ''Your HTC phone just recovered from something unusual. Do you want to send an error report to HTC?''
So that means my phone is S-ON right?
Wow this is very disturbing.
Please don't try this again. It's clear that you don't have the knowledge required to mess with the phone.

I don't think I've damaged the phone just by trying to open it once on the bootloader even though its locked.

So I think I can assume my phone is S-OFF right?
No,
Reboot it again, select reboot from the power menu and don't release the volume button until you get in the bootloader.

Noooo u should boot into boot loader to know if it's s-off or no and u failed to boot into bootloader so u should try it again by pressing power and volume down simultaneously and don't leave them until u see boot loader screen

S-ON, bummer.
I wonder how long until everyone is able s-off... Can't wait.

Rooting P930

Ive had this phone for about a week and it came with software version bell 20e on ICS. My WiFi worked but was only able to get gsm data speed.(below 3g). I tried flashing many ROMs but my WiFi wouldn't work on any of them (only on the ICS Rom the phone came with). Then I tried 2 unbrick method to try and flash a new baseband/firmware (not sure which is which)... the first one gave me the original Korean ROM with all the Korean apps(I believe it was 18f kdz). The second one gave me the att ROM (10f kdz). The Korean one gave me WiFi and data but I could not root (tries superoneclick a million times and also tried manual cmd method). The att one gave no WiFi and I haven't tried the data.
My main goal is to be rooted so I can flash cm 10 or 10.1 with at least 3g data and WiFi. I actually really like this phone but all these road bumps are making me want to settle with my old phone optimus 2x. Can anyone help me please? The phone came from China I believe. My carrier is fido in Canada.

Thanks for the response. Did you get the root in one try using the TPSparky method?, becuase I'm on my 4th try now. My phone reboots two times, but the command window always says = 0 (root), And it needs to be id = 0 /root. But I'll keep trying..

FINALLY, I'm rooted. I had to change some things around in the Path Variable string, then i tried Superoneclick first try rooted. Now Installing CMW and flashing roms, I assume i just download Rom Manager from the play store and flash cmw like that right?
So.. Is my phone bricked completely? I tried using cmd to flash 2.3.5 ATT stock.. when i typed in the first code (dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8) to put boot.img from sdcard to phone, it said that there was no space. However the other codes worked just fine. Then when i turned off the phone to try and put it in recovery mode as the guide instructed my phone screen remains off. Is my phone dead?
Ouch not a good sign. You will know by this hold down volume up and plug into the computer if it goes into download mode you are good but if the screen stays off and the computer gives you an error it is dead and will need to be sent off for repair. Good luck.
