Those using latest AOKP - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

How does this rom perform and what are some of the main flaws? I know I was with CM9 and i loved it but I had low call volume on the other end and there were a few odds and ends. Can anyone reccomend a good AOKP version and link along with a decent review other than 'good rom'.... thanks will be given.. thank you in advance....

So is the low call volume still there?
and can someone recommend a AOKP build and a kernel to use with it that would have good results?

Nope! With the new kernel source that has been out, ever since about 4/3 days ago it has been fixed along with all of that echo & underwater call audio stuff. The newest AOKP build should be nice to use, even with stock kernel although it doesnt have the ability to OC. When Eugene is finished with his AOKP Streamline kernel later, you could try flashing that, as I will.

nevermind, Eugene is going to fix another small problem.

The only issue seems to be that you can't charge it while off which isn't a big deal at all! :victory:

We had to write a custom radio class for this device to get everything working, however you can cherry pick our git.
So does aokp stand for android open kernel project? I know aosp is android open source project, or did i just divide by zero?

I am assuming, please correct me if I am wrong. But since I don't see a link to source, I doubt they compiled from source or have any kind of device tree established for this build ??

[ROM][CM9] Experiment With Linaro

There's been quite a lot of fuss lately about the Linaro toolchain. Here's a thread about it. After reading up on the issues the CM team expects to have with the toolchain e.g. breaking everything, I made some tweaks to at least get a rom built with the toolchain.
This is nothing special, if you decide to try it you'll likely see little difference from the latest CM nightly. I built this for myself to test on my own but I see no harm in at least throwing a link out there for the good people to play with. I'm sure that once the experts working on AOSP and CM have implimented the toolchain in a more pretty and less ad hoc way there will be peace on earth, goodwill toward man and lighting fast roms to go around.
Also on a somewhat unrelated note, I updated the kernel to Linux 3.0.34. The CM kernel was 3.0.32 last I checked. Not sure if it has been update since then or not.
Needless to say, I did not create CyanogenMod, Linux, or the Linaro toolchain and I'm not responsible for anything ever. Without further ado, here's the link.

Well, since I didn't know there was a 6/11 cm9 experimental nightly I'm not really sure. But if you happen to have a change log handy I could take a look and let you know. I haven't been able to find one. Downloading the rom now though.
Can you also make the kernel into a zip in case people would like to flash it on another Rom? I'm just asking no biggie if you can't I'm running CM9 experimental build & its running like a champ don't feel like download & flashing another Rom but would like if you can make the kernel into separate zip

The kernel in this rom is not built with the linaro toolchain. Ezekeel has a thread somewhere that shows compiler optimizations have little effect on kernel performance. The kernel here is only different from CM because it's from a newer linux kernel version.

Yea its setting it up in the mms-config.xml so it points to the correct carrier. If you look in petes overlay for the NS4G i am sure you will see his fix for MMS. Its in device/samsung/crepso4g and it should be called overlay or crespo4g_overlay. I havent looked yet.
I will mod the APK and see if it fixes it..I will link you to it if it does. Then you can just make a flashable zip.

SMS/MMS over wifi calling fixed.
Not sure about bluetoothi dont have a bt device.
But overall this build is polished and very stable
This build should have everything almost fixed is what I read in another thread...

Hopefully it is all fixed and we could finally have some JB goodness without issues until the official TMO release anyways... Hump day present for all... LOL :fingers-crossed:

Thanks guys, people are always on top of these leaks. Glad I registered on here so I can be part of the activities now. Been just a long time lurker. Also, thanks wildchild for being on top of everything as well.
so far so good on this one! shutdown animation has been added too.
Not much of a bug, but for me, the 3D portion of Quadrant is black. Also Neocore wont start up. Other than that all the rest of my 3D games and benchmarks (Mad skills MX, Riptide, AnTuTu, Smartbench 2012) work fine.
Edit: Was playing Trial X, backed out of game, and started getting blue flashing. Quick off/on of the screen seemed to fix it.
I found a bug when playing video (like in YouTube) and you turn the phone from portrait to landscape (or landscape to portrait) the screen turns black in the animation

Well, on my current setup, I flashed everything one by one, and I'm stable. Not a single SOD/RR. Great battery life. However, AOKP JB is fragile, the only way to know is to test it. I'm making a nandroid right now, so I myself can test at around 3:00 PM eastern and report back by dinner time, lol.

I promised I would get back to you, so I am. So let me start off by saying that it is SUPER smooth. When I first booted it up, it was really smooth. One bug i found though is that data doesn't work. It says in the notification drawer that it is on, but when try to go onto the internet, it doesn't work. Also, there were no SODs or RRs. I also liked the fact that is a like a "lite" ROM. You didn't add too many extra applications. The data is a big problem for me, so once that is fixed, I will use it as my DD. I went back to the ROM I was running before. I am really impressed that on your first release, it only had one bug.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna test it out this afternoon and hopefully figure it out from there.
Edit : I have a educated guess into what the data problem could be, so I'm going to remove speed tweaks for the net.
As for the auto-rotation not working, not sure what to say about that at all. I'll review it when I get back, I'm highly curious to see if I can resolve these bugs. Thanks guys for testing! Hopefully no SOD/RRs yet for anyone!

Hello Dev, I think you should remove the word "stable" from your heading. It is misleading. But hey, I am sure you will have this rom up and running nicely. great work.
Why do people keep complaining that is isn't stable? It is pretty stable. I used it for around 20 min. earlier today and no lag, no issues (besides data). It is really nice like I said earlier. Perfect for people who want a ROM without any extra apps.

Edit : Rev 01 should fix the problems. If not, I should have it all fixed by tonight. I'm typing this from college right now, can't wait to go flash it though. AOKP is buttery smooth with great battery life. CPUSleeper + tweaks = even more performance.
However, the biggest two killers you should be wary of are 4G/3G (data) and high screen brightness.

Because it is based on source that has SOD and RR. There have been no core framework or kernel changes, so it inherently has the same issues as the source it is based on.
BTW: SideKick...good job. keep up the good work.

Well, seeing as up until very recently team_kang was only releasing builds on a NO ETA cycle. The nightlies give people something to flash and tinker with. Code is merged every night from the team, so we (people lik erik, myself) release nightlies for the community. Now, Sidekick has taken things a step further by providing yet another option for the thankful members of XDA to flash. If you have no intentions on flashing the rom in the OP, i would suggest you move along.
Choice is yours, but I doubt that OP appreciates someone trolling in his thread.

Is AOPK > CM10.1/Wind 1.5 for stability and such..? Or is it just personal preference? I downloaded it a couple hours ago. May give it a shot as I've finally got my bootloader (re-)unlocked.. PITA!
*Note to self.. Don't install official updates without reading..

It is too early to tell since it just came out yesterday. I flashed it last night and noticed that the CPU was much busier at idle than the CM10.1M2 release is, and it did not sleep as well. With mobile data AND wifi off I lost 10% overnight. WIth the M2 I lose 1-2%. Perhaps a 3rd party kernel will help.
I got greedy this morning and attempted to use the Wind kernel with it... it worked for about 20min and then bootlooped lol
I'm back on M2 now, but I'll try AOKP again soon. I love that it has very few frills, and the optional transparent status bar is sexy.
I don't see the Navigation Ring on the lock screen.
I only get it when I enable Navigation Bar.
Strange...

What exactly do you mean by navigation ring? The ring to unlock the device?

No, the smaller ring that you customize with shortcuts.

I think that's only supposed to show up when the navigation bar is enabled anyways. Seems normal to me.

IMO:
CM10.1 M2 + Wind 1.5 > CM10.1 M2> AOKP JB-MR1
This is after about 12 hours with AOKP JB-MR1.
Once again it is only my opinion.
Thanks God, my SU640 is still supported (I'm not a Christian, though)

Yeah.. I meant like, in general. It kinda sounded like maybe you'd been waiting for it or something so I thought maybe AOPK was better or something. I just got this phone around the time cm9 came out. It came with GB and it's my first "superphone" (previously using a Sony Ericsson W810i), so I'm pretty new to modding.. only ever used CM roms..
It took like 7 minutes to boot aopk the first time, and then it rebooted during setup and wouldn't boot again..
CM10.1 and AOPK wont sleep.. but reading the comments I guess that's a known issue I missed.. Was that fixed on the next nightly?
Build 6 is out, (maybe we should remove build 5 from subject?)

Changed title, thanks for the update
Re: AOKP Discussion Thread (JB-MR1 Build 6 for P930 now available)
ROM is working great except for Bluetooth. Has same problems as all other 10.1 based ROMs.

thanks to your help, our device might be supported by CM. :good:
Need a tester to validate new builds. Must be willing to install new builds and give feedback within 48 hours. If that's you, please PM me. Thanks!
New milestone-1 released, nightlies announced:
http://aokp.co/milestones-nightlies-millions/
Hope the battery is better now...
Camera and bluetooh issues!
bluetooh doesn't work, constant disconnect, and camera recording at 1080p crashes and reboot my device.. Has somebody the same problem?
I'm running milestone-2 + Wind 2.41 right now
Very smooth, and apps don't crash as they do in CM10.1
But battery life is slightly worse... guess I can't have everything! Antutu score is just below CM10.1 stable.
