I new to the wildfire S, so I just wanted to make sure I do it in the right order.
My gf phone is getting very low on space, even though she's got link2sd installed, and not as so many apps.
I got the phone from a store as second hand, and It's s-off and rooted.
I wanted to know what's the best way to create more space. I've added the images from the phone kernel and storage.

Also the phone has Hebrew menus (don't know how the store has done that), I wanted to know if I update the ROM to the newest stock ROM, will it still has Hebrew support? I read a lot of posts on battery drain is it still such a problem?
thx for any help!

Jus forget the link2sd. Use data2sd,a2sd with supported ROMs.. this will increase ur internal memory Jus flash a gud sense ROM tat will change the language
Hope I helped u click thanks

Don't forget the link2sd
Your link2sd setup have to be wrong since your 2nd partition is almost empty... While in link2sd app hit the menu button then Settings and make sure Auto link, Relink lib files at boot, Relink dex files at boot are checked and under Auto link settings all three options should be checked too. Install location can be left on Automatic.
Then you can create link in app list for each application separately (click on app and Create link option) or do them all at once - menu/Multi-select/Select all/Actions/Create link.
Changes will maybe not be visible immediately but after few min (or one reboot) you should notice diference.
@hussy22:
Do you have a good sense rom that may have Hebrew support?
@kobredabre:
thanks for the tips. I've re-checked all the settings and they were as you said. I've tried the multi select and it worked on the apps, but the data folder seems about the same size even after reboot.
can I use data2sd with link2sd?

my best suggestion would be to install app2sd GUI From the market go to dalvik and move the dalvik to the 2nd partition (click move to sd) first boot will take forever but when you check your phone you will have lots of space just make sure you don't remove your sd while the phone is on. click thanks if I helped

Yes I'm using the same way.
But that ROM should support a2sd gui r else can't move dalvik cache

how can I know if the ROM supports A2SDGUI? is there a test I can do?
Dl A2SD GUI from play store after installation open the app if u don't have a support ROM it will promote tat u don't have apps2sd script installed
Another way is Dl terminal emulator type Su
Then type a2sd
If a2sd not found then it's not supported

Unbranded/Unlocked/Stock/Rooted HTC Desire GSM with Froyo
I'm struggling with the amount of space HTC have given the HTC Desire and wish to add proper Apps2SD support. A few questions please:
1. I'm using the stock HTC Desire Froyo firmware but the phone is rooted. Is this enough?
2. I've tried searching but come up with so many different solutions. Which is considered the easiest to implement and safest Apps2SD solution?
3. Where can I find instructions to implement this?
4. I've found this guide, is it recommended? - http://www.droid-den.com/phone-guides/phone-guide-how-to-add-apps2sd-to-the-htc-desire
Thanks
Simplest way is to Flash a ROM with it built in
Let someone more techie do the hard work
As long as you do a Nandroid backup first you can always get back to your original setup.
Dont forget you will need to create an EXT partition .... Go for the biggest you can to save having to redo it later.

Good point. I'm currently weighing up my options. How HTC ever though the Desire would have enough app storage is crazy.
Any idea what's the best solution to add proper Apps2SD in the mean time?

How do I do that? Thanks.
If you are rooted download ROM Manager from the market.
Create an EXT partition (using ROM Manager) - go for as big as you can spare on your SD card
Install Clockworkmod recovery (using ROM Manager)
Backup current ROM (using ROM Manager) - this can take up a fair chunk of SD card space
Download the ROM you want
Flash the ROM from SD card (using ROM Manager)
If you want Froyo id recommend LeeDroid A2SD version (this has Sense)
If you want Gingerbread id recommend GingerVillain (this doesnt have Sense)
Both are ideal 'starter' ROMS with clear instructions and simple to use
Read the first few posts for both ROMs to get full install details and tips
.... both are very fast and stable

* How about Sense 2.1 and Gingerbread?
* How much space is needed to store the system data that gets put on the SD card by this procedure? Or when it's finished will the EXT partition be empty?
Otherwise thanks a lot

. I'd backup my SD card and made sure it was empty before starting, so that's okay. I used Unrevoked to root. I'm pretty I'm already now running Clockworkmod recovery.
If you dont want to flash you should find some threads about installing Apps2SD - there are various 'versions' of this - but dont forget you still need to create an EXT partition first.

There are some ROMs about with Gingerbread and Sense. I havent tried any, they are mostly quite new and based on an Eastern model. Cant really advise. Im on GingerVillain at the mo and really dont miss Sense.
Try LauncherPro or even Regina Launcher and you will start to wonder what you ever saw in Sense

Do you have any links to recommended methods?
I've thought about installing a new rom but am perfectly happy with the stock Desire ROM to be honest. I've tried Launcher Pro Plus, it's excellent but I prefer HTC Sense. Battery life and storage space are the two things that bug me. This forum is a minefield to those who don't know what they're looking for. The Desire developers forum doesn't list the ROMs by their "known names" .
Can someone let me know the best App2SD solution please?
I'd be happier just implementing this than a new ROM. I'm happy with the stock one I've got TBH.
hi to all,
yesterday i started to struggle with the space on my desire with GB RCMix S v1.7 Rom. i know i have a lot of applications but i wanted to know if its possible of getting more space somehow.
quickly searched the forum and didnt find anything i really wanted but found this: (not sure about links policy here):
h_t_t_p://w_w_w.baadnwz.eu/2011/05/align-your-sdcard-fat-and-ext-partiton.html?showComment=1306324922084#c1198792341921194805
ofcourse all credit goes to baadnwz for his great work, however, im not sure how its done and where to imput all those commands? is it ADB or terminal being used? and how do people input | ?
i know baadnwz is a busy man with all the development so i thought i might just ask general public on this and see if i can get an answer and learn how its done and maybe someone else will find it useful.
thank you and sorry if its repost or i didnt put it right. and sorry that i cant make clickable link as i dont have enough posts
EDIT: the link i provided does not apply for this thread as apparently it could only be used for people who have different a2sd scripts. but you still might find it useful using the information discussed in this threa to free up some space.
U r using rcmix yes which hboot n Rom please n have u used a2sdGUI

The Best Things Come To Those Who Wait
thanks for all the help but would like to ask something before i try and move Dalvik to Ext. will it have any effect on performance? as the rom now seems to be very fast and smooth, so dont want to lose it. and what are pros and cons of moving Dalvik to Ext?
by the way noticed you have Dalvik Jit on? and mine is not on so should i turn it on as well as latest 1.7 version as per changelog has Jit turned on as well.
thank you again
Moving dalvik to ext will not have any harm to ur devuce make ur device much happier
As it means u half & half n settle its self n works very good I would always recommend moving cache
U can look on xda for more indept details about cache n pro n cons if u really won't
N yes just tick jit n reboot buddy
The Best Things Come To Those Who Wait
wow great help mate, will do that right now and will report if i see any changes or if i have any more question. will also edit the title as it would only be appropriate for guys/girls with darktremor a2sd script
thanks again and have a good day
No props if u find u are having speed or performance issue just use the a2sd GUI to move cache back to internal u will just have to delete some apps lol
The Best Things Come To Those Who Wait
daddyspud just moved Dalvik cache to sd-ext by pressing Move button, however dont seem to gain any memory so i assume my Dalvik was being move already by the script that is in the Rom. however, would like to know what Move and Rebuild would do? and regarding Jit it stays on when i click on it but if i reboot my phone is off again. is it how it suppose to be?
thanks again
Yh there a issue with jit on 1.6.2 but 1.7 is been fixed wat version if rcmix u using ok so to check if working
Download terminal emulate from market
Open it type Su enter allow Su
Then type a2sd cachesd then it will run a command n the reboot that should do the trick buddy

1.resize your first primary partition, that there will be unused space of 1024MB make a secondary primary partition Ext3 1024 MB with 'Mini Partition Tool Home wizard' - search google. You will not lose data with this tool. no need to backup.
RECOVERY
2. Wipe factory, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik, then install my ROM.
FIRST BOOT
3. Be patient it takes long time to boot cause its deodexed. don't leave your phone, always unlock when ring comes.

don´t know how but it works. I´ve 900mb internal space free
I'll give it a whirl. Looks like he's using data2whatever to move the data to the sd-ext partition. I'm going to set it up on an 8gb SanDisk and see how it runs. Maybe that's a better way to keep junk on the SD.
Also, is there a reason that we shouldn't use Alquez's CWM-port to partition the SD? It seems like it's doing the same thing (creating a ext3 partition with no swap file).

you don't have to root, but you do have to be S-OFF. The ROM is what carries the root, so if you follow his directions you will get a rooted ROM, but you don't need to be rooted to install the ROM. If you are S-ON it will fail.

Is there a list of changes or is this a game of hide and seek, because I am fine installing it and searching for what's new. Also, can this be installed right over the other one?
Thanks for the ROM, pretty awesome speed and great usefulness. I'm going to run a Quadrant on it too.
Also, my sensors don't work on it. I think this is a problem with all of these ROMs though. Maybe I broke them by installing a non USA ROM, who knows. The only sensors working are proximity and light.
Thanks!
Also why don't you move this to the Android Development section because it's a ROM that's doing it, not a tweak or tip.
Updated: Wipe all then install
did, thanks for the feedback. I'm running setup and market sync right now.
Is your orientation and magnetic sensor working? Mine aren't and I'm not sure what the problem could be. I might have to go back to stock just to make sure they still work there.
This is still in beta test. How do you test sensors?
Here is what I'm doing to test the sensors:
1) rotate phone at desktop
2) rotate phone with Camera app running
3) rotate phone while watching YouTube
4) install Sensor Test app from Market and check status
5) install elixir and use sensor testing function
all of these result in no data from the sensors, though it does show that they exist. Just no information. Seems like a kernel problem, but I'm not sure.
What is new in the new version? Or what you fixed? I didn't see any major bugs.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
Must be a faulty phone, mine doesn't have problems, I downloaded 2nd search sensor test app all are working. numbers changing.
It's working well on my phone, so far everything appears to be working ok.
I've removed a few apps that I don't need like stocks & news etc.

I do not believe thats the problem as lucky patcher takes care of them bad .odex files automatically now. And wat u mean "Why use lucky patcher?"
Ah, cuz its awesome maybe...
Disable the gl 2 sd hack and it should be fixed. You should be able to do what the gl to sd app is doing manually.

Awsome for what? From what I read it is awsome to crack apps. Do you support devs in that way?
Xda does not support piracy.

Thx for the response bro , i have had link2sd , and uninstalled it before
Solution
Hello Guys , I have found the solution it was Link2SD
some how have installed it , played with it , when it didn't work , simply uninstalled it
the settings i had customized was in the "native app2SD setting" " modified it to external . where as it should be automatic
re-installed link2sd then changed it to automatic .. its working back , as for the play store error " insufficent memory error " or trying to install apps .
:good:
