[Q] - apps backup - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Theres some way to 'map' my installed apps to easily re-install after a full wipe???

Download this nexus toolkit and use the backup function.
I won't recommend you to use it to root or install a custom recovery.

TitaniumBackups makes backing up and restoring a breeze! Just don't restore system apps.

Agreed. Better to do it all by yourself.

I wouldn't recommend it to do anything unless you know what it is doing and how it is doing it. The backup function that it is using is easily done yourself. There is a how-to thread in the general section that describes how to use it <-- instead of having a toolkit do it for you.

Ok so I need to flash the stable release of CM9 but I need to know how I can restore all my apps and app data. I've spent some money on apps that I'll lose if I flash and just redownload. Suggestions?

Just re-download your apps. Every transaction is stored in your Google account, you won't be charged twice.

Just use the Galaxy Toolkit to backup and restore features. Link is below:

Is your bootloader already unlocked? If yes, flash a custom recovery, root your phone and use an app like titanium backup to backup apps + appdata.
If no, unlocking it will wipe your device. You can use adb backup in that case though, use this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420351

Nailed it!
And OP, your purchases are all tied to your Google Account. Signing back into the new ROM means you get access to all of your apps for download again if you want.
Here's your guide.

If your looking to back up your apps and not any system data along with the app data, the best app for that is titanium backup. But it requires you have root. Just a matter of backing them up and then restoring them using the tool. It keeps a backup on your phone. Or if you have the pro version you can store the backups online at your storage place of choice.

No. stop suggesting people to use a toolkit, since its pretty obvious that the op doesnt know what he's doing! if something goes wrong, will you be the one to get his device out of trouble?
and besides, the link you posted goes to a baseband thread. ????
a simple solution was given, use play store builtin restore feature, unless op chooses to roll bare aosp, but even then, op wouldnt need a toolkit (he would know how to build from src) to restore apps.

You have got a wifi Tab,for a 3g is that more important.
You can make a image with online nandroid backup from play store.
The other way to use the terminal
su
busybox tar zcvf /storage/extSdCard/efs-backup.tar.gz /efs
that will save the image on your extSdCard

backup note 7 for recall process

hi,
is there a tool for backing up note 7 (apps and settings) before returning To the service center ?
I know that smartswitch world but that doesnt backup settings of apps.
titanium backup is good but requires root.
an official note 7 backup tool from samsung would be nice.
or a method to get full nandroid backup without touching inox ?

Try this
http://www.samsung.com/uk/smart-switch/samsung-desktop-app.html
First use smart switch to back up settings of the phone, then use Helium to backup settings of apps and or apps themselves. Helium doesn't require root but works pretty much like titanium backup.
There are lots of apps that helium can't backup data from.

Do you know that it backups app settings ?
I never understand why you can't backup settings of an app especially if the backup is attached to your Google or Samsung ID.
If anyone can confirm anything other than the TB/Root solution that works I would really appreciate it.
I used smart switch and I have over 300 aps on my phone, it backed up all of them but 2.
is there a way to have full nandroid backup ?
also, is it possible to ;
- root
- get titanium backup
- unroot

With the current root method it doesn't trigger knox.

Regardless if Knox is tripped or not samsung is going to replace it. It's under recall.

I ended up have to log back into all the apps. One camera one I use called MIX once I signed in with my credentials that were originally created an account all presets where there, I think its hit or miss.

But how to restore on new phone, if triggering knox is a risk? I guess if that method doesn't then yay.

Default 'Files' app needed.

Hi guys,
I hope this is the right place to put my request.
I recently deleted the 'Files' app from system as i have root access on my OP3.
But now i realized that the app is required to allow write permissions for OTG connected storage devices.
So i kindly request you guys to please upload the app's apk file here.
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advanced and sorry for my bad English.
This is from OOS CB 3.5.3
All system apps have their apk files on system partition (in /system/apps). You can get them with any fine manager with root access.

I guess I misunderstood then, I thought you just uninstalled it.
You can also extract apps from rom.zip, if you have it somewhere handy.

Your Google account will automatically back up your apps and contacts. When you flash a new ROM it will ask you if you want to restore.
Most ppl here use titanium backup. Instead. including myself. You have to be rooted to do this.

Most likely a problem with the gapps you see using. For just about every custom ROM you can use the pure Nexus dynamo gapps which work well.
I've had problems with open gapps but not Pure Nexus

The Pure Nexus gapps from the Pure Nexus ROM has always worked for me. Opengapps in the past have pulled out certain components. I've also has the restore feature not work.
Presumably if you are flashing gapps then you have a custom recovery and are rooted. I'd recommend using Titanium Backup for your apps instead, its easier than manually having Google re-download all your apps.
