Is IceColdSandwich a stable rom for everyday use?!!!?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk

all i get is random reboots constantly....did full wipe etc...just reboot after reboot.

0 reboots here.
Yes, I been using this as my daily rom since weeks, no problems at all..

And what about the camera fix? Does it work with 480p?

Too buggy for me

And this is why these posts are closed and lead to no where. Here we have one person saying yes and another no. "Stable" is subjective because of how differently we use a rom. Different apps/settings/usage.
The best advice anyone can give is to try it out for yourself and find out if it works for you
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA

The ROM itself is pretty stable but it depends which applications you install, then it gets tricky. I've used it for two weeks with mixed results. Battery life was meh, but it was a decent ROM. Got rid of it today and went back to GB 2.3.7 cause its ROCK FREAKING SOLID (BlackICE 1.6)
P.S: I agree with the guy above me ^ flash the ROM yourself and see if it's stable for you, install some apps you'd normally use, setup email, tweak it as you like it e.t.c. Only then can you see if its stable for your uses

using it as my daily driver, no reboots, even though im a pretty heavy user, just make sure to try different kernels, for example i feel like the performance and battery is better on the bfs kernel rather than CFS.... and the room is VERY smooth

What is the best virtuous kernel for battery life?

I downloded and installed the latest version of virtuous sense and saw in rom manager there was 4 different kernels. Cyanogen, virtuous, evil, and htc stock and was wondering which kernal peoplee think is best at the momment and why? Thanks for the help

1.02 was solid as hell. I'm using 1.05 but have a few new programs running in the background and the battery life isn't as solid. Feels a bit snappier but it's hard to tell because I made a few changes. I'd probably suggest going with the latest kernel though.
Anyone else have any advice on best kernal thus far?
Sent from HTC Desire Z using XDA App
My opinion, when I was running Virtuous which wasnt but 2 weeks ago, was eViL kerenel 12-10-1 which is on rom manager.
if you check out the thread for it, rmk and evil post seperate kernels that arent found in rom manager. im running 1.05 right now and its pretty stable. just to be safe, use the default. on average for any kernel mostly with set cpu profiles, i get about 7-11 hours of battery life. (witth heavy texting, web browsing and light calls)

[Q] LeeDroid 2.4.1 is stable?

Would anyone please give me the idea of its stability? I am trying to find a mod rom stable & can extend the battery life. Thank you
I'd sooner go with the 2.3d if I were you. I think that reading less than 10 last pages of the thread in question could give enough evidence to back up this statement of mine.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I find it works very well on my device, stable, smooth and fast, tried the GB builds and came back to 2.4.1. The battery life made me come back.

LeeDroid 2.4.1 is very stable, it's the better froyo sense rom, you should try Gingerbread Sense Rom like InsertCoin or RCMix S, both are very good
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
2.4.1 is very stable , clean and fast. I like "sence" , and this is the best rom out there .

Same here. The only thing i disagree with is battery. GB are equally good now. I think even a little bit better when actually using the ROM (when phone is awake).
BUT, LeeDroid 2.4.1 is rock solid. All GB roms are based on TEST leak, and devs are porting stuff from sense 2.1 and 3.0 to them, which does cause few bugs here and there. It'll get there once official update is released.
I love the way Lee stayed away from porting stuff and just concentrated on optimizing existing software, adding most usefull addons you can find on xda.
LeeDroid 2.4.1 gets my vote for now, it's just to good not to use it
If you do not want Gingerbread, it is the most stable Froyo ROM, but GB has some advantages like battery RAM Management. If you will use A2SD, you may try InsertCoin Sense2.1 with GB.
+1 vote for 2.4.1
stable and smooth
skip 2.4.1 and go to LeeDRoid 3.0.x, might as well make the most of upgrading your system, and start getting used to Gingerbread!
Actually, that wasn't very helpful I guess. My bad. I've used LeeDRoiD roms pretty much since i first rooted, and I'd say they are up there with the best software you could want on your phone. They are definitely stable and pretty good on battery use. I only used 2.4.1 for a few days before i went to 3.0.2, but it was fairly solid.

[Q] What is your favorite Rom?

After seeing so many posts about what rom is the best, I decided that making a poll will hopefully stop threads about what rom I should try, etc etc
Hopefully this stops the virus spreading around here.

CyanogenMod 7
Nothing lets you control your phone like it.
PyroMod. It gets faster and faster with every update (even though it hasn't been updated in nearly two months), A2EXT is automatic and runs smoothly, getting close to 3000 on Quadrant, and no force closes. I'd like to see that ROM ported to future Android devices.
My fav is listed in my sig.
CM7. Fastest ROM I've used.
I use cyanogen mod 7. It is extremely fast and looks really nice. I just recently rooted, so I don't know any other good roms.
MIUI is the one of the roms that is constantly updated and gives you that iPhone UI. Give it a try and you will wanna give up that Rom.

I agree with this, but I have to use MIUI since Virtuous doesn't boot on my phone (no reason, it just doesn't...ever...boot, always goes back to recovery.) CM7 is too full of crap.
I rebuilt my MIUI to be more like Android, aside from the menus, which I like a lot.
Pyromod is really nice, I may end up just going back to that once I've had my fun with MIUI and get sick of the iPhone-ness of it.
CM7, never had an issue with it

just got a mt3g

Hello all. I was wondering which rom do people feel is the best. in the sense of stability and performance? I am going to get this phone for 50 bux from a guy i know because i broke my galaxy s 4g. I have been looking at the roms in the dev section but can't decide which one to go with. Any help would be appreciated.
I highly recommend the XM-8 Stripped version and its very reliable. Been using it for a while now.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using xda premium
If you like sense, I recommend HaXspresso 2.2.1 It's froyo but it just works.
Otherwise yep, XM8 is the one to go with.
Ditto on the thumbs-up for HaXspresso. It may just be froyo, but everything works and battery life isn't too bad.
I use a custom MTD partition to make more room for apps.

I've had good luck with CyanogenMod 7. Awesome battery life, and everything seems to work well. No lag, reboots, force closes.
I agree. Cm7 is the best way to go. I have it on 2 slides and my SGH-T989. Its pretty good and is feature packed

I've had good lock with CM 7. However, I forgot which nightly is the best one to install. The last RC and nightly have wifi issues. I don't remember which is the most stable one.

[Q] Help an old Desire Z user out on ROM selection!

Hi there everyone!
I'm just after a little bit of help here.
I've had my Desire Z for a over a year now. I did run stock but with the hassle of the "home" key delay (it was terrible!) I rooted the phone and went with a version of MIUI (can't remember which now).
I love MIUI - except its music player downloaded strange albums, is there any way to fix this? (Jamon the power of love! lol)
Anyways - I recently tried a Sense 3 rom and it's awful. Laggy, slow, and a pain to use.
I really really want a stable, easy to use, smooth (doesn't have to be fassst!) just all-round-good ROM to use as my daily driver.
I'm throwing this one out to you - Which ROM can I try?
MIUI - do I just do the MIUI.us with bulletproof add-on?
CM7.1? I've never used this - which CM version is the best DD?
Sense UI - Any out there without home button lag?
I get the feeling the Desire Z is slowly becoming a "thing of the past" but I want to squeeze life out if it! I still got another year on my current contract! lol.
Thanks so much in advance for any tips, advice, etc.
For me, CM7 is easily the fastest. Use ILWT, its the fastest cm7 ROM I've tried, and loads of customisations
Sent from my Desire Z using XDA
Agree with Taz. ILWT is the best of both worlds, as it's feature-rich and is perhaps the fastest ROM around. If you decide to go with MIUI you might want to give Strawmetal.Mi a try.
CoSign, CM7 is the most stable 7.2 is the most recent version.
Agree with everyone. Been using ILWT for awhile and just recently changed to Andromadus beta3.

Virtuous G-Lite 2.0.1 is my favorite. It is fast; doesn't drain battery or consume every available RAM. I am using the ROM with stock launcher (default is LauncherPro) and I must I am glad I did.
Sent from my Desire Z flashed Virtuous G-Lite ROM 2.0.1
Thanks everyone for your most excellent replies!
I've flashed the ILWT Cm7 rom on my Desire Z and it's been great so far, really fast with no lag. I loved the design of MIUI and Sense/Sense 3 but I think I prefer something that is usable over fancy graphics which make the phone lag.
Can I customise the status bar? I would like to change it if possible, no problem if not.
Also, any other tweaks or tips most welcome. I want to get another 12 months out of this baby!

Just a FYI. That's not CM9 beta, it's a CM9 kang, just like Andromadus Audacity is. They're both based on CM9. CM9 is still in pre-release and may never be released officially for the Vision.
Cm7 can't go wrong.

That was a bit of a bump. I think the OP has already made his choice,
but Elite is indeed a very fast and stable rom.
I realize that the thread is month old now, so OP has probably already selected a rom, but in case someone else reads this thread looking for an answer to the same question...
I'm been using the Mimicry 1.1.0 ICS rom for the past week. I've tried out all of the ICS roms for the G2/Desire Z so far and Mimicry is the first that I would recommend as a daily driver. It is running quite fast and most of the bugs and graphical glitches of other ICS roms have been worked out.
CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0 BETA 14 - rockzzzz
preety fast, very good battery consumption, sexy
)Hi there!
Thanks for more rom suggestions!
Also, thanks to all those who suggested roms to use, I've read the thread every time it's been updated.
Just for everyone's info, I ended up installing CM7 ILWT - it's been excellent. Fast, stable, things work - it ticks all the boxes, really, and it means I can squeeze a few more months out of my phone! Actually, it's made me rethink upgrading next year.
It's been fine for my needs and I'm no longer pulling out my hair in frustration; there's no lag, no issues with functionality, and everything is in English (rather than Chinese, like MIUI's calendar lol - also the stock player doesn't make all my album covers turn to "Jamon - The Power Of Love" too!)
I may do a nandroid backup and try some of the other suggestions. I am a little bit reluctant to try any ICS roms, I've read posts describing things as being smooth but lots of things not working properly... I may give them a try anyway and see, but I am wary. One persons buttery smooth is another persons laggingly slow. I'd prefer to do away with flashy stuff for a phone that.. um.. "just works", and fast.
Thanks.
If you prefer Gingerbread, as I previously mentioned, I would recommend G-Lite 2.0.1 but for an ICS ROM Andromadus Audacity is the only choice you can take.
I installed too many ROMS these are the one that you can use with performance.

Hey there!
I did a nandroid of CM7 ILWT, wiped and installed Mimicry 1.1.1
I never knew ICS could be snappy!
I'm going to keep this one and see if it stays that way, so far I'm impressed!
