Last night I woke up in the middle of the night, checked my phone, and it wouldn't turn on. It was plugged into the charger, but no red led was on and it wouldn't turn on at all with the power button.
This morning when I woke up, the phone was back on charging with the red light and was able to turn on. My phone is rooted and flashed an upgraded rom + kernel. Can anyone explain why that happened?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
oh! s*** same thing happened to me just now. i removed the charging cable tried pitting it in to the boot loader mode but nothing happened, suddenly red light started blinking when i was trying to power it on again and then it powered on and now its charging. i thought it was a loose connection but seems like some other issue. i am on insercoin rom.

That is in no way true. All of my devices are rooted and have been for ages, no issues. What's probably happened here is that the devices have overheated

That was the case with my unrooted, brand new HOX first time out of the box. It turned out the battery was so flat dead, the phone didn't manage to start.

I believe it was a kernel issue guys. I had just flashed a kernel that night and it probably had something to do with it.

Hi everyone !
Yesterday I was using my phone, and after a few minutes without using it, when I tried to wake it up, nothing happened ! The screen stays black all the time, and the charging LED light doesn't turn on too.
I don't understand, nothing happened to the phone (no fall or anything). And now it just seems ... dead !!!
Could someone help me ?
Thanks !
The phone is rooted with S-Off and a custom ROM ...
If you pull out the battery and place it back does it boot then?
Try pulling the battery and then replace it while holding both volume buttons and the power button.

If pulling the battery doesn't do it, it's probably really dead. I also once had a dead Desire, stopped working from one moment to the other. If there's warranty left, send it in.

Your phone is dead.
That happened to my first desire hd. I had to take it in to vodafone for them to send off for repair :-(
Question : when you do take in for repair can they tell if you rooted it ?

Yeah clearly I think my phone is dead. I'll try to repair it and sell it.
Anyway, I bought a Galaxy S I9000, I hope it will last a bit longer !
I had two problems with my DHD. But to keep history short, I'll tell only the second:
My seemed bricked. It didn't power on and when I plugged the charger, the LED didn't turn on.
As I work with electronics, I measured the phone's battery and it had 0.0V. So, I took an adjustable power supply and charged the battery for 2 minutes with 3.7V.
I put the battery back in the phone, plugged the charger and the LED turned orange!
Perhaps you could try the same procedure...
And tomorrow I'll try to fix the 1st problem.
I've had a G2 for a couple of years now that hasn't been working. I've exchanged batteries, but cannot get anything to boot. The phone was having problems with freezing prior to the supposed brick, and the phone is completely stock.
As of now, I have it plugged in via USB and I didn't hear any sort of notification that the computer even recognizes the phone, my other android phones will get picked up with the power off.
Long story short, is there a way to get into "upgrade mode", or something similar that HTC might have? Something from ADB that could trigger the phone to power on in the hardware doesn't power on itself?
Thanks.
EDIT: The charge LED does NOT come on while plugged on to the charger.

Stupid thing has water damage..the VOID sticker wasn't where it was supposed to be, but I saw some pink residue from the sticker. I'm gonna take it to see if I can get it fixed. I believe it's worth it, it isn't the first batch of G2's, it was one of the warranty replacements that didn't have those weird issues.
Take a multi meter to the contacts with the phone open. See if any power is getting through.

First of all, is it rooted? If yes, what rom do you have? You have custom recovery?
If not try this. Charge the phone and when the green led is on power off the device and leave it to charge for another 1 hour.
No it is not rooted. The problem is that the green light never appears because it doesn't fully charge.

Same problem
I had the same problem with one week old VM One V. Charged to 80% and no more. Discharged (auto turned off at 10%) and it charged to 100 one time. Then charged only to 84%. Discharged again, went down to 6% before shutting down. After a couple more cycles, including unplugging after "full" charge to 84%, then replugging and getting to 100%, finally two days in a row woke up to a green light and 100% from a 20-30% level at bed time. Only issue now seems to be two widgets show different battery levels, e.g. 63% on battery monitor widget pro, 53% on Elixer pro battery widget. The icon at the top looks more like 60%.
Not rooted, waiting a while. Love the phone, wish it were dual core, but runs as well as my Droid X and much better battery life. Nice design and feel.
have you resolved your issue Relgozen??
Yes your advice was very helpful. Should I continue to charge my device only when the battery dies?

Okay, so I'm posting this because my bro's HOX is not turning on & I'm posting this on his behalf because he is about to have to depression very soon lol..
So he was on The Android Revolution HD rom and while he was browsing in his gallery with 4%, the phone suddenly froze.. and
what he did he held the power button for 15 secs until the soft buttons were blinking and then the phone rebooted.
Then the boot animation came but was taking a of of time.. so he restarted again but, this time the phone didn't show the 'HTC quietly brilliant' screen at all...(
Now it's turned off or maybe DEAD...
He then plugged it in the wall charger and he tried different key combinations (power + vol. Up/down etc) but still doesn't turn on.. The LED is NOT lighting up
Now hes trying to let it charge via usb/wall charger... still no good...
Anyway to fix this??
Btw sorry if it's another duplicated thread but I'm not familiar to HOX lol
Please a solution would be very much appreciated
UPDATE: It remained on charge for more than 3 hours I think but still dead :'( Is it the battery which got damaged?.... well my bro is already in a depression lol... [\B]

sent from my HTC One CMX
Hello, I'm new to this form. Okay so today I traded my galaxy note 1. For a nexus 4 and an HTC one x. I was really excited to see the one x for the first time. The one x is with AT&T. When I took it home and plugged it in the charger the red light on started to flash which I think means the battery doesn't have enough power yet, so I waited until it would be steady. But when I looked at it after about 10mins or so, there was no light at all. Unplugging and plugging back in didn't work. When plugged in for along time it just keeps flashing red for abit then stops (repeatedly). I can't power it on at all or go into bootloader.. Etc.. I've even tried doing the hold volume up and down with power button for 2 minutes, nothing.. So now I'm just thinking it's defective. But before I sent it to HTC to diagnose it, I wanted to see what you guys think it is and how I can possibly fix it. Now the person I got it from said it needed some kind of jtag fix for $50 but idk what this is at all. I'm just hoping to god it isn't the main board that is damaged. The bottom area where the soft buttons are is cracked but it's not serious. Another thing that I'm not sure is normal, is the power button, it feels very soft when I press on it and I can't feel it click at all htc told me this could be normal cause the newer one series phones had soft power buttons. I thought the power button was the issue, but the phone won't even charge. The most I've left it plugged it was about less than an hour, I also saw people saying if you plug it in a computer it can fix it, but Idk how that will solve the issue, I will be going to a friends in the morning to try that though. Anyways that's about all.. I hope that someone can help me with this, and If I can fix it I will be sooo happy! Before I go to bed I will leave it plugged in all night to see what happens. Thanks.

Yes everything is fixable, but it might cost you money. If it's not rooted or custom rommed (locked bootloader) then you have the biggest chance on getting warranty.

Hmm. Well is it normal that the power button feels soft and no kind of clicking in it to know weather it is being pressed down or not? Also if the phone is flashing red when charger is plugged in does that mean the port is still okay?

Well mine has a little click when i press it. Can't say for other hoxes, haven't had that many in my hand.
Yeah port is fine, my guess it's a hardware fault. Maybe the battery itself is faulty or the battery circuit is not functioning the way it should
