[Q] Battery Stuck/ Not Charging - HTC One V

Hey guys, it has been a week since i have owned the HTC One V, and i love it so far! (Virgin Mobile Version)
There is a problem that i have noticed in the past 3 days and its that the battery will not charge past 73/72%. I do not have any apps running, and i have even tried turning the device off and charging. Does anyone know what i should do?
Thanks guys!

First of all, is it rooted? If yes, what rom do you have? You have custom recovery?
If not try this. Charge the phone and when the green led is on power off the device and leave it to charge for another 1 hour.

No it is not rooted. The problem is that the green light never appears because it doesn't fully charge.

Nvm

Will do. I have never let the battery drain completely. Do you think that can be a reason why it's not charging. Thanks

Yes, quite likely, kill the battery then off mode charge it over night

Same problem
I had the same problem with one week old VM One V. Charged to 80% and no more. Discharged (auto turned off at 10%) and it charged to 100 one time. Then charged only to 84%. Discharged again, went down to 6% before shutting down. After a couple more cycles, including unplugging after "full" charge to 84%, then replugging and getting to 100%, finally two days in a row woke up to a green light and 100% from a 20-30% level at bed time. Only issue now seems to be two widgets show different battery levels, e.g. 63% on battery monitor widget pro, 53% on Elixer pro battery widget. The icon at the top looks more like 60%.
Not rooted, waiting a while. Love the phone, wish it were dual core, but runs as well as my Droid X and much better battery life. Nice design and feel.

have you resolved your issue Relgozen??

Yes your advice was very helpful. Should I continue to charge my device only when the battery dies?
Thanks again

if you dont need it fully charged everyday then yes, but i wont say never charge when you only have x amount of battery, because my phone goes on charge @85% sometimes

Ok thank you

So now that the problem went away I was not afraid to root my phone. Now, my battery is saying it has been on 97% for four hours. It is rooted. Any help? Thanks
UPDATE:after resetting the phone about 5 times the battery indicator went back to normal. Sorry for the extra post

Battery level DROPS on charger !

This may sound weird or I missed something, but lately the charge on the phone drops DOWN after reaching 100 while still on charger.
Like this morning I woke up after having the phone on charge all night. The battery symbol showed it was fully charged and wasn't being charged no more, notification light was on to indicate the charger was connected, but battery status widgets all indicated 96 percent battery.
No CPU intensive program running in the bg. If I remove the charger and reconnect it,charging starts again normally. Tried it on two batteries. It's a o2 desire. Using original charger.

The Desire will charge the battery if the battery level drops below 90%. This can extend the lifetime of the battery.

is this a fact? that it will charge it back? Cuz I never was brave enough to let wifi running cuz in the morning i still need the phone and sometimes i have several giga avi files to transfare.
That's new for me,will give it a try and report back

I see the same behaviour. Using JuicePlotter, I can see that overnight the battery will drop from 100% to 90% before charging back to 100%. It does this over a few hours.

Please don't duplicate threads, look here, there is another one about the same issue.

If we all post in the same thread it will be easier to follow its evolution...

I dont think this is true as I managed to deplete my desire in 24 hours and it was still connected to the charger.
Sorry, tried searching using my app but couldn't find one. Thanks for pointing out.

Charging after betty is full

Hi I tried searching for this using the xda app but didn't find anything.
I think I have noticed that when charging the phone once the battery is full it doesn't maintain the charge if left plugged in, you have to unplug and plug the charger back in for it to start charging
Any one else found this?
Cheers
Tom

It's a feature on the Desire. It's to prevent the phone battery from overcharging.

That's a real bugger as I normally charge overnight so its good for a full days use, but that routine isn't going to be much good now.
Thanks for confirming though

basically what happens is, if you charge while the device is on, when it reaches 100% it will quickly discharge to 90% and then charge again till it reaches 100%, it will follow that cycle until you unplug it
Ah that makes a lot more sense
Thanks for letting me know

[Q] G2 Takes 13 hours to fully charge

okay so my G2 takes about 13 hours to charge to 100% and then when i unplug the charger my phone reboots and it loads back up and the battery says 0% and dies. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Do I just need a new battery?
obviously not normal, and definitely a rare incident. almost certainly means you need a new battery

13 hours wow... u need a new battery or your charger not giving enough energy

That joke flew way over your head..
LOL @ Ionic.
It maybe a few things....
I had same problem when I had my behold II and it had problem with OS (stupid 1.6) I had to get a replacement phone after I went to the tmo store n tested the battery using battery charge widget n guy went like yeah that's def not battery n called in replacement phone.
I also had same issue when I flashed cyan on my G1 incorrectly and same thing with Cliq xt.
Try fully wipe(especially battery stats), flash OS, don't flash any apps n try to charge the phone also try different Rom.

phone wont charge when off (SOLVED)

Red charge light is on but the battery doesn't gain any charge. Loses some infact
The battery stats have a gap showing 0% charge for the period the phone was off and charging

[Q] SentinelRom poor battery.

So I recently installed this Rom, immediately after I saw that it boasted about having the ability to add an amazing battery life.
Now I've seen a couple of threads, and videos of guys proving this. So I was quite excited that I will be able to have a great battery life, more use of my phone, rather than just 6-8 hours.
However, after installing it last night, and charging it, I noticed today, that I only had the phone on for 6 hours, and already it was down to 11%.
I didn't even use my phone that much. It may have downloaded one or two apps, but that's it. So, I've reinstalled the ROM, to see if this will fix it.
Anyone one else used this ROM with the HTC One X and experienced the same thing?
Also new to the forum, and using roms, so be gentle :silly:
You need to let it settle for a few charge cycles

So essentially, use it till the battery is dead, and then charge it up, a few days?
Cheers.
No. Just charge it like normal. These batteries like partial charges not full charges.

I've just heard great stuff for this Rom on battery life, and it's just not impressive so far. It seems to be worse than normal.
