[Q] How do you use RUU after higher update? - HTC One X

Hi all,
I have this RUU file which corresponds to my phone: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_SEA_WWE_1.28.728.9_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_256493_signed.exe
The problem is that when I was using the stock rom, I installed the newest updates so now the RUU says it is actually Downgrading the phone from a highest version so it doesn't continue flashing the rom.
Is there any way to trick the RUU or must I find the rom.zip and flash the system manually? I have some problems with CMD not finding the device so I prefer using the RUU at this point.
Any help very appreciated.

Find the latest RUU compatible with your phone, you can't downgrade your ROM without S-OFF (and that is not available now)

[Q] Script fails to copy and can't upgrade HBOOT?

Hi,
I've just downloaded Juwe11's RAM script and I've been trying to copy to the system>etc>init.d but it always says Copy Fail? My Wildfire is currently running CM7-RC1
Also, I'm trying to S-Off my Wildfire which currently has the HBOOT 0.80 but when I try to download the official RUU with HBOOT 1.01 I get an error and it won't install.
Could anyone point me to the right direction please? Thanks in advance.
Copy pasting using a GUI based app like that (Atleast on a permanent basis) will need S-OFF. What is the error you are getting when you are trying to install an RUU?
Try flashing this ROM first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
Once done, then try installing the RUU (WWE 2.22.405.1 EXE File from Shipped ROMs)
If it still fails, then try extracting the ROM.zip from the RUU, rename it to PC49IMG.zip and place it on your SDCard, then reboot in the bootloader mode.
Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. Which do I flash the ROOTED or UNROOTED one? Do I just use CWM to flash those ROM's you've mentioned? My CWM version is 2.5 would that be fine?
Thanks in advance.
Try the unrooted one, and yes, it will work fine with CWM 2.5
Thanks, will do it as soon as I get home.
Sure, if it still doesn't work, let me know the specific error the RUU gives when trying to install.
Hi,
I just flashed the UNROOTED version of 2.2.1 ROM that you have recommended. I've now been trying to flash the official RUU WWE 2.22.405.1 with the radio however I keep getting an error ID 171 which says that there is a problem with the USB Connection between my phone and my PC.
This is the RUU Version I've downloaded from ShippedROMS
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_s
igned.exe
I'm pretty sure it's working fine as I can access my phone as a storage device.
Any advice on what I should do?
Thanks in advance.
Flashing RUU's seems to have lots of problems.
Try extracting the ROM.zip file from the RUU, there's a Youtube video for the same:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZe8HAFm3eU
Once you get the ROM.zip file, rename it to PC49IMG.zip, place on the root of your SDCard (i.e. not in any folders / subfolders), and then restart your phone in the Bootloader (HBoot) mode. It will automatically detect the file and start the install.

I get bootloader version error
I see the image version I already have is higher than the version image I am trying to install from the RUU.
How can I fix this?
CID HTC__J15
See : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30999119&postcount=1888
I am downloading it now, however the name Europe in the RUU made me think that this RUU doesn't support Arabic keyboard while the ROM I had before had Arabic keyboard.
There is no Arabic Keyboard in this RUU but can find it in various thread.
Most important is get your device up and running.

That is possile if the RUU is older than the one currently on your phone. If this is not the case, try to flash the RUU via the program and from hboot.

Obviously , since I have Cyanogenmod 10 installed the RUU version is older. CM10 is somehow preventing the RUU to execute correctly,
I have tried to run the RUU with Hboot but it didn't recognized the phone.
your backup is older than the bootloader version now you have .

Sorry I will be clearer. The ruu has two thing before start. It evaluates your cid and hboot version. If you had (my example here) a 2.22 stock and you want to flash the ruu of the 2.02 version it will not work because the hboot in your phone is newer. This is a security measurement for you not to be able to downgrade your os.
Even more, ruu needs stock recovery, stock kernel, and the phone to be either "locked" or "relocked". And more, if you has custom is on the phone that time, the ruu will only work from fastboot usb mode.
It is a joke tough that in these phones unlock and custom os is easily achivable, while going back to stock is like a pain in the ass.

HTC 10 Back to Stock

Dears,
I am currently using Viper Rom 3.5 the lastest version but suffering from bad battery life,
I want to return to Stock my CID is HTC__J15
my current base version is 1.95.401.4
any help.
thanks
Easiest way is to ruu
I also returned to stock from Viper, not because of battery issue, but felt tired on cat-and-mouse game for hiding modified bootloader and root when using Android Pay...
You need to do is to search Internet and find the exact OS version RUU (1.95.401.4). If only have earlier version (e.g. 1.50.401.4) then you need to S-Off first, then you can flash earlier version for your variant. (I also purchased Sunshine to s-off before flashing earlier version of RUU).
my CID is HTC__J15 ,
1.95.401.4
i tried the ruu zip but show me an error message (didnt even flash )
any idea. thanks guys
How are you flashing it? SD card in download mode? Or using ruu.exe? If from SD card did you make sure to rename the package to 2ps6img.zip?

Let check carefully what version of your ruu is? From Internet I can only find this one (1.21.401.4):
2PS6IMG_PERFUME_UHL_M60_SENSE80GP_HTC_Europe_1.21.401.4_R_Radio_1.0.U01001360331.4_41.13_F_release_477256_signed_2_4.zip
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591023225177702
If you are still S-ON, you can't flash earlier version of RUU, the only way is to either find the exact version of RUU (1.95.401.4) or S-OFF first. You can purchase Sunshine to S-OFF, then are able to flash back to stock ROM with version 1.21.401.4. Once back, you can through OTA to update to latest 1.95.401.4.

[Help HTC 10] I relocked bootloader without having a system installed

Hi people, this is my first time posting on a forum. I've always fixed my problem by googling them but now i failed.
I fixed the problem mentioned in the title and now i'm back to the original problem.
I followed a guide on the web to root my HTC 10. What i did was unlocking the bootloader and then flashing TWRP and till then things went good.
Then i tried to root it by flashing superSU and after that my phone went in bootloop and i found out i didnt have a system image anymore.
I tried to flash the RUU with my cid but i got the following error "RU_MAIN_VER_FAIL...".
This is my situation:
-i can access download, recovery and bootloader
-I've TWRP installed and my internal storage is blank, it only has an empty TWRP folder.
-My external memory has the following folders: Android, TWRP, .android_secure, LOST.DIR
What is my problem? I even tried to restore a TWRP backup without succeeding from https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297
Please help me!!

No I meant you can flash a custom rom instead of stock. If you want stock you'll have to run a stock ruu. What's your current software number and which ruu are you trying to run?

I've used this ruu 1.90.401.5 that has same mid and cid as my phone. And before wiping my internaL storage i had nougat, 7.0 i think. This ruu thing is really twisting my mind, never heard about it before today... maybe that's because i got in trouble. I've installed viper and the phone seems to work now but i have my doubts on whether to keep it or not. I'll try this so rom for a week, i want to see if it has battery or overheating issues.
But in case i wanted to go back to stock, i dont know what went wrong and why the ruu i've picked failed to install even if it had the same cid and mid.

If you had Nougat before, that means your firmware version is 2.x.x.x. This is newer than the ruu you're trying to flash. You can only run an ruu that is at the same version as or above your current firmware version, and you cannot downgrade. That's what I mean by "run an ruu that's the same version as your phone."
Get your software info by doing fastboot getvar all from download mode. Then find an ruu that is for your CID/mid and at the same or higher version that you have. That'll take you to stock.
