I've tried all day to get wimax connected to my epic 4g touch but no luck. Can anyone pm me a doner Mac id? I'm asking if its OK to ask, don't wanna get banned lol. But .3mbps? Rly? Thank u guys
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Why would someone want to give you their wimax Mac? Having a different Mac address isn't going to get you better reception.
Can someone tell me why I don't have option to set the Mac?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Lol why would anyone give you their Mac address. If you want one that bad just go to best buy or a sprint kiosk at the mall and copy one of those Mac addresses.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Because your MAC id is from the hardware. It's not a software setting. There is a specific software for editing things like that. You will not be able to change from within the phone.
And as others have stated, you cannot get better reception by changing this. This is just an identifying piece of information. The only reason you would need to change this, is to illegally acquire service. And, yes this is not a topic for this forum.

I do believe if sprint can prove you knew phone was stolen you may be responsible for charges and If a police report was filed they will know and may try to charge as it's your responsibility to disconnect asap
Oh but have fun

use plan b from the market. you can remote install. then find the phone and kick his ass
If someone stole your phone, why did you give your number out over the internet? You're going to report it and get it shut off tomorrow, but you want to sms bomb him tonight? This makes no logical sense if it were true. If my phone was stolen, I'd immediately get it shut off and get a police report for replacement purposes. You know who has it, why don't you get the cops to get your phone and press charges?! I call bull**** on this story!

Well, I heard through XDA that some people have had luck getting their phones upgraded via their Airave line on their family account. The line must be upgrade-eligible (login to your account and see if there's a message on that line saying you're eligible for $150 off).
I don't know what the steps are, but I know there are some extra steps needed to get this done. Apparently it is a PITA, but it does work. I'd like to do this so I can can get a second GS3 for my mother as well (her EVO OG is just not holding up well).
I called the local Radio Shack and they said they didn't know about it. I just need someone to guide me to the right store to get it done.
So you want RadioShack employee to explain a Sprint service in depth? Good luck. Lol

Upgrading an airave account isn't fraud.
It can also be upgraded by calling sprint and talking to them.

Fraud? Exaggerating a bit don't you think? Do you think Sprint hasn't corrected this issue so they can test their customers ethics? It's been around for years now buddy. Many people have done so. I just learned that Best Buy can do it too.
Fraud is more accurately associated wih other things that is found in these forums; such as free Wifi tethering, PRL hacking, etc. Acivating your phone on an Airave line that is left open by Sprint is not fraud, it's a loophole.
Anyways, what happens after the phone is activated on that line? Can I just transfer the device to my number? I don't want to be stuck with the $19.99 additional line fee though.

Your best bet is to just walk into the radio shack and try it. See if they are willing to spend the time to try and get you that upgrade. I did it with mine but I honestly can't remember all the details. I know there are no charges. Make sure you write down all the numbers from your Airave and bring them with you. I think I remember them needing the numbers that are similar to the esn on a phone. Good luck!

If you are trying to limit the accounts i dont think it will work. I have three computers at my house alone...
Do you post from work? Does anybody else? How many people out there use proxies? A bunch.
Wouldn't work
Problem: Dynamic IP
Theres workarounds to everthing... TOR browser... plus, could have multiple users at one home, or a dev, logged in with multiple phones, a computer you browse with, and a computer you compile with... too many variables... namely the way IP addressing works...

Nope, it won't work. Most people are behind a NAT nowadays - I use a dongle and my IP is:
1. Changed every couple of hours
2. Shared between LOADS of mobile devices.
Also, like someone said - people use these sites at school or libraries etc, so, no. It wouldn't work

There may be some like that, if you suspect someone is behind multiple accounts, please report them to a mod and they will check it out. If the mods find that it is the same person behind it, they will be banned.

Yes and no, coming from a forum that bans people on IP if they register different accounts in the same network. The catch is even if you login to a friends WiFi network and they have an account, you're banned, also, what if you're in a hotel? And multiple people either register or login? Bad.

Question, if I wanted to make a dinc2 connect to boost mobile, wouldn't that just be a switch of the apn info? Where as it would be connecting to Sprint towers instead of the Verizon ones?

If you mean that you want to have service with Boost they would have to add your ESN to their systems and they don't do that to my knowledge. I know Sprint won't do it.

You would actually have to flash your phone to boost mobile. If you browse craigslist there are a lot of people who would do it for a reasonable price. Or you could try yourself.

May not be that difficult.. I used to play around with a Moto Droid X and the only way to root the latest OTA was to flash a file that turned it into another phone and on TMobile... I don't have them in my area for service but while on the TMobile Rom I tried *228 and it connected to their activation service and not Verizon... Was weird. I belive, at least in my area Boost uses Sprint towers so... Should be easy if you can find the right software/tools to do it... Good luck!!

Um.... *228 doesn't work on Tmo for activation.... best case it will take you to a CSR. For most people it just tells them to call 611. Are you sure you're remembering that right?

Qpst, cdma tool, and I'm forgetting the others... If I /can/ just make a flashable with them it would be fine but the first hurdle to get over is drivers. I think if I have understood the programs correctly they need to directly interact with the phone.

My friend is getting a Sprint gnex tomorrow, and he wants to activate it on boost. ESN is clean and all that, just wanted to know if it would work with boost. I've read that if the phone has 11 or 18 (something like that) numbers on the ESN they won't really give you a problem activating it on boost, since it matches up with their system. Thanks in advance
