Yes! First you will need to make your SD card a "Goldcard". There is a link in my signature that is a guide for many Marvelc-related things. One is S-OFF.
Once you have a goldcard, put the PG76DIAG files (they're linked to in my guide) on the root of your SD, follow the steps, any you'll be S-OFF.
By the way, S-OFF is one step beyond Bootloader Unlock. (You may have known that, but I'd like to offer the information.)

[Q] WIch RUU is the right for updating hboot?

Hello everybody
I want to update my 0.80 HBOOT for S-OFF, now my question is what is the right? I live in Austria & bought my Wildfire with the provider T-Mobile Austria.
Thank you.
Since your Wildfire is already debranded I assume, use any Froyo RUU. Personally, I used WWE 2.22.405.1, since that has HBoot 1.01.0001, which has no issues with AlphaRev X.

If I remember correctly, you can get S-OFF with unrevoked if you have HBOOT < 1.01.0001
Also I don't think you can change the HBOOT with a RUU, because before alpharevx it was possible to downgrade the RUU, but not the HBOOT.
Since I'm new here, I cannot give you the link to unrevoked, but you will find it easyly with google.
Good luck!

First Thanks for the reply
Yes it's debranded, but now I have another question: the WWE 2.22.405.1 is a .zip file, how do i update the hboot with it?

There's an EXE file as well on the Shipped ROM's site for WWE 2.22.405.1. It's a little bit lower in the table.
Anyway, if you want to try with the ZIP file (I tried the Zip first - didn't work for me), then download it, rename it to PC49IMG.zip, place it on the root of your SDCard, and reboot in HBoot mode. It will automatically detect the file and attempt to install it.

Nope.
Unrevoked S-OFF tool (called unrevoked forever) is not present for wildfire. But instead present for some other htc phones.

What do you mean by "present "?
All I know is that there is an unrevoked version that works with WF before HBOOT 1.01.001.
This can't be used for S-OFF?

I mean unrevoked s-off tool (called unrevoked forever) is not available for wildfire even for hboot 0.80
All it does for hboot 0.80 is pushing of custom recovery through a nand exploit. The phone still stays s-on.
But such kind of tool is available for some other htc devices.

[Q] Upgrade HBOOT

Hi there
i have Hboot 0.80 And I want to S-OFF my phone!
alpharevx for HBOOT 1.01
what do i do?
Thanks all
It took me ages but probably because I took the long way round.
I think I formatted my SD card and made as gold card, then used the RUU tool in the Arabic RUU thread below this one.
That worked for me after a day of trial and error. I guess there is a quicker way. Search the forums I know alot of rooting guides have popped up since Alpha-Rev release.

Just go to Unrevoked.com, download their app and S-OFF+ROOT+Recovery install on your phone. HBOOT 0.80 is rootable, because it's the old version. You don't need Alpharev X.

It will not give S-OFF. Just a Custom Recovery and root. If you want S-OFF, you will have to go for AlphaRev X.

try that it works for me...just select the applicable RUU to your region then your S-OFF!!!
I got HBOOT 1.02 after running RUU but when I run alpharevx it still got s-off.
Don't forget to install and uninstall HTC Sync so you won't encounter driver issues.
Then when your already s-off follow the instructions on the link below then that's it you got full control!!!

Hope it works for you...

Questions about SHIP S-OFF and ENG S-OFF

My desire z is only Ship S-Off. i.e. I only did
"4.b. S-OFF, Super-CID, SIM-unlock, clockwork recovery and root" on Wiki.
I noticed that in the HTC Vision Wiki, ENG S-OFF is recommended over SHIP S-off:
Quoted: "From now on we recommend to install the engineering hboot as part of the gfree procedure."
Are there any reasons behind?
Would it be possible for me to install the engineering hboot after I have done SHIP-OFF using instruction 4.b.?
One more question:
Is ENG S-OFF safer than SHIP S-OFF? I found there is no way to flash Recovery without booting to Android if I am only SHIP S-OFF, both fastboot and HBOOT methods are not working for me. So if Recovery crashed and SHIP S-OFF, is my phone bricked and no way to be rescued?
Thank you.
A good guide to read
http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
Can I use gfree to flash by command:
./gfree -b hboot-eng.img

One more question:
I found "recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-vision.zip" in CWM download directory, could I rename it to PC10IMG.zip and flash it via HBOOT?
Follow the instructions exactly and you cant go wrong

You do need Engineering Hboot in order to use fastboot to flash your recovery image. And yes, this does allow you another option in the event your phone is unbootable - which I find reassuring. So on the one hand it is a precautionary tool, but it also stops checking if the PC10IMG.zip is for your specific device. So you need to be extra careful when using PC10IMG files.
I flashed ENG Hboot after I had rooted/S-OFF/etcetera... but the root method I used also included a script for ENG Hboot that I was able to follow after the fact. As others have said, I would simply follow the wiki and get yourself set up.
So if I didn't flash any HBOOT, the hboot in my DZ is DZHBOOT, am I correct?
Can I safely flash Virtuous Unity and BeatMod BlissSense?
For the ENG HBOOT in wiki:
HTC Desire Z: vision.hboot-0.84.2000.zip (md5sum 2CE1BDD5E4C1119CCFCECB938710D742)
Is this a DZHBOOT as well?
How to distinguish between a G2HBOOT and DZHOOT?
Sorry for having loads of questions. I did google but couldn't find exactly what I want.

If you boot into bootloader you will see at the top which hboot version you have, and as the wiki says thats the version you want if you want the engineering hboot, the link i sent you explains why, flash it and thats you fully rooted and ready to run unity

Actually I tried looking for the version through booting into bootloader before. I got the version number only.
It says HBOOT 0.85.0005, and I have no idea what it means.
Thats the version number, the engineering hboot is version 0.84.2000 so you need to flash it, then you have the engineering hboot installed

Have a look here:
http://alpharev.nl
is alpha rev needed if you are S-off?
you don't need to use it to S-OFF, but you do need to use it if you want a patched HBOOT/ SPL.
@OP you will NOT be able to just flash the HBOOTs listen on Alpharev. Download the PB99IMG.zip of Bravo_stock, put it on the root of your sd-card (not in any folders), boot into the BOOTLOADER (not fastboot), and when it asks you to update hit yes.

No, it's just completely redundant.
You can read about the different Hboots on that site and download your choice.
Best regards
