I have a defy (green lens) running cm9 (9-SKANK-defy)
:crying: I recently bought a 3g plan from Vodafone and noticed that I would get 3G at home but not at office. My colleague with an iphone 4 would get perfect 3g (also on Vodafone) at office.
I tried:
-Every baseband in both the CM9 baseband switched as well as Itzfun
-*#*#4636#*#* and setting band to WCDMA only, WCDMA preferred
- Changing between multiple CM9 ROMs
but to no avail. :crying:
:fingers-crossed: I finally ran into http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944258 by adlx.xda which had supposed 3g fixes for India (amongst other countries) attached. However the zip file did not run in CWM as it used an older amend-script format. A little xda-googling later I found how to put the files into the new script format.
However, after flashing the zip, still EDGE :-( . But then I again went into *#*#4636#*#* and changed band to WCDMA only.
 VOILA!!! 3G!! REJOICE!!! Now I don't know if this is a colossal coincidence or the fix worked. I'm posting the zip here anyway. Maybe it might help someone.
p.s. - This is my first post - kindly guide me if I've got some arcana of etiquette wrong

The issue might be newer baseband switching which some times does not d anything at all!!
U should keep the older BBS v4 (baseband switcher)

H = HSDPA
HSDPA it's an update of 3G (UMTS)
I usually get H but sometimes I get '3G'.. I can't really make out a difference in speed, but which one' s faster?
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
H is theoretically much faster. For a while some companies tried to call it 4G but some politics later they were forced to call it 3G+

hey all, my defy has a weird problem. even when I'm on 3g the speed is only limited to 5 kBps ....I'm on cm7 rc1.5 and is it because of the baseband?.....I'm from India and the frequency is 900/1800 but in the defy baseband switcher I can't find an option for the above frequency ...I can only see an option for 900/2100... can anyone tell me how to fix this problem or suggest a baseband switcher with the above mentioned frequency ....plz help....there is 1 more thing ...I get the H symbol and the signal strength is 85 to 75 dBm but even then the speed is only 5 kBps

Some local ISP down throttle the speed when you reached the given maximum 3G data cap. This usually applied to unlimited plan data line. So you might need to check first with your ISP before jump to the conclusion of your Defy having problem.

AFAIK India uses the 2100mHz frequency for 3G. But in any case if you want to try 1800mHz, choose any of the countries that use 1800mHz from the list, the country doesn't matter. 1800mHz is 1800mHz in any country in the world
ummm i thought it was 1800mhz because that worked perfectly fine for me ..... ok either ways any idea on why the slow download speeds on 3g frequencies because it used to work fine for me
Sometimes the speed would return to normal for a while if I switched to airplane mode and after a few hours I switched to normal mode ...but it would last for a short while only ....I am really puzzled

HSDPA connection + only 5kps = ISP limiting speed. Just too much of a coincidence that you are getting GPRS speeds while having a 3G Connection established.

I still think you should check with your ISP first as I see it came from your data traffic having limit the speed or changes in their plan without notifying you.

Doom Kernel should work whether you use 2G or 3G. Is this what you wanted to know? There are even 3G tweaks on this forum to enhance the 3G speeds. Look for V6 Super Charger.

Hi everyone I have a 2 week old SGN2 N7105T from Vodafone Australia.
As Voda in Australia doesn't have 4g yet it seems Voda/Samsung has disabled 4g LTE on the phone.
Which means I cannot use another sim from another carrier to reap the benefits of 4g.
In the settings I only have options for wcdm/gsm auto, wcdma only & gsm only.
Does anyone know if and how I can enable 4g?
I have thought about rooting and putting a different rom from a different country or one from another carrier in Oz (such as Optus 1800mhz) that has the 4g option.
Not sure if that will allow me to get 4g? (By using an Optus sim)
Thanks

Vodafone Australia doesn't have 4g network just yet. They are planning to upgrade by June/ july 2013. Thats why they disabled lte option on note 2 7105t for now. even if you are able to get lte option by flashing different rom you won't be able to get 4g network.
This is seriously against the consumer right as we pay premium price for 7105 only for lte reason. But we get the phone same as 7100

I think this is not correct. 4g connection is not disabled on the phone. Because the carrier does not support 4g at the moment, the LTE option in the menu will not be visible. That is the impression that I have got from a Vodafone NZ engineer.

Starting this discussion to bring some light or current experiences. In my case, LTE doesn't work with either sunrise/ orange providers. In 1st case, after 1 hour with tech support they said there's nothing wrong with sim/subscription and it should work. The fact is even in areas with good 4G coverage I don't even see the LTE option in network settings. In 2nd case, Orange simply said "your phone is not supported..." !. They both work on the 1800 band, so it's ok, in fact, I was in Lisbon last week and with a vodaphone SIM I could see the LTE option, thought I couldn't ever get more than H+ as network signal. I' 've searched on forums and might be of current firmware release. Some post for similar issue advised to flash Romania 10D version. I have downloaded v 10F (germany) and willing to try it. Solved . I can't believe so simple. After some googling I found a post (in german) I couldn't understand, but referenced some info about network defaults and it's values. Some bell ring and I looked for a ro.telephony.default_network parameter in build.prop. Just changed from "9" to "13", rebooted et voilá. .. many more options available under network settings, including LTE. Once chosen, it registered on 4G victory: ). You have to be rooted of course. I did the change using buildprop editor from ROMtoolbox Pro.
Also, it seemed to me that after flashing 10F, phone was (even) faster. I''ve run Antutu 3 times and always got around 17970 (with 10E never got more than 17150).
About the change - as usual do at your own risk.

I have the E975 but Sunrise as my provider and I mainly move around in LTE enabled region.
LG support claims there will be such an update for sure but no timeline was given...
Lg doesn't release these small updates, carriers do.
