Hi everyone I have a 2 week old SGN2 N7105T from Vodafone Australia.
As Voda in Australia doesn't have 4g yet it seems Voda/Samsung has disabled 4g LTE on the phone.
Which means I cannot use another sim from another carrier to reap the benefits of 4g.
In the settings I only have options for wcdm/gsm auto, wcdma only & gsm only.
Does anyone know if and how I can enable 4g?
I have thought about rooting and putting a different rom from a different country or one from another carrier in Oz (such as Optus 1800mhz) that has the 4g option.
Not sure if that will allow me to get 4g? (By using an Optus sim)
Thanks

In settings look under mobile network, access point network, Internet. At the bottom of APN settings what option do you see in Bearer?

Vodafone Australia doesn't have 4g network just yet. They are planning to upgrade by June/ july 2013. Thats why they disabled lte option on note 2 7105t for now. even if you are able to get lte option by flashing different rom you won't be able to get 4g network.
This is seriously against the consumer right as we pay premium price for 7105 only for lte reason. But we get the phone same as 7100

Your current provider has no bearings on the menu options, so the option will not change.

I think this is not correct. 4g connection is not disabled on the phone. Because the carrier does not support 4g at the moment, the LTE option in the menu will not be visible. That is the impression that I have got from a Vodafone NZ engineer.

Have you tried other carer sim which has 4g network??
I flashed new firmware and its now visible.

Sorry for the late reply guys.
I installed a German Vodafone 4.1.2 rom from samfirmware which gave me the option to choose LTE, GSM, WCDMA then I put my mates Telstra 4g sim and 4g worked great. When. I was in 4g areas the 4g symbol showed on top and speeds were awesome. Now all we need is Vodafone to hurry up.

Sorry man you're flat wrong.
I flashed a rom I found on here for the N7100 that was confirmed compatible with my N7105-t From Voda and put in my telstra sim and 4G'ed my brains out.
It was getting crazy numbers for up and down speed in speed test so I know it was legit. That and the 4G logo up the top....

You used telstra sim and got 4g, because telstea have 4g networks. Nothing wrong with that. So how I am wrong here? I said getting 4g compatible rom doesn't mean you get 4g from VODAFONE because they don't have 4g. tell me if I am still wrong. Thankx

You have to have the right apn for it. Some carriers require enabling it on the account level

It has to be feature enabled at activation. For example, I am coming from a GS2. I cut my GS2 sim to fit the GS3. Everything worked perfectly except for LTE. I had to call and have the phone activated as an LTE enabled phone to get it working. I am on AT&T BTW.

I was also told that they have 'newer' sim cards that 'work better' with LTE as well. I was having issues with my SIM that came in my iPhone 4S, and when I moved to the SGS3 LTE was spotty. They gave me a new SIM at the AT&T store and it fixed all my issues. Not sure why it helps anything as a SIM should be a SIM should be a SIM, but apparently it does.
May be thats why coz my sim was activated at hspa for iphone need to activate in LTE mode i think

If I unlocked my Hercules and used at&t prepaid and flashed a skyrocket radio would I be able to use their data? And also would the data be just as fast?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Yes I think so might just have to change APN settings
How do you do that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I'm not for sure you may not have to. I only know how to change APN on a iPhone. You should be OK with just an unlocked t989 and radio change
I believe you could use it, but it would only be 2g because at&t uses LTE for their high speed networks. The physical radio itself in our Hercules just doesn't support it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
But a att radio should fix that
No, not the software radio. That will give you the 2G signal, but we don't have the actual physical hardware to run full speed on at&t's network. That's part of why the Hercules has a different processor, the one in the international/att sII wouldn't work with tmo's hspa network.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
You would be able to use your Hercules on AT&T but if the fast data you're referring to is 4G LTE, then no, you won't get that because the Hercules doesn't have the hardware needed to support it. You would get HSPA+ though.

No. You could turn off 4G and get EDGE/2G though.
On Verizon phones you can turn off 4g to only use 3g why would it not be the same

T-Mobile's 3G/4G networks run on the same bands so you can't block something on one band and only let the other thing work. I guess Verizon has different bands for 3G/4G.

I hope i'm not hijacking here but I have a similar question. I'm in an at&t lte market and was considering using my t989 with at&t via straightalk. Would I be better off to sell my phone and get a "true" at&t phone that does LTE?

If you use Straight Talk, then no matter what phone you use, you won't get LTE so it doesn't matter if you use a T989 or an AT&T phone.

Hey guys! I just got my Galaxy Note 2 today and i am already ready to mess with it.
I was looking around and saw some threads saying that T-Mobile and At&t versions of the Galaxy Note 2 have the same LTE band and frequencies. And that you could run a T-Mobile GN2 on At&t LTE...since T-mobile doesnt have it just yet.
I am currently on T-Mobile with a t-mobile SIM. I am curious to if I flash an ATT modem/radio to my T-Mobile GN2 would that give me the ATT lte capabilities?
I don't want to jump the gun and brick my phone the first day i got it lol.
No that doesnt work...no one has gotten it to work yet. But one member is getting an update from tmo for their lte and is gonna upload a backup so the devs can hopefully turn on lte on the phones so when tmo turns on there towers we will get lte

If you unlock the note 2 via hidden diale menu and throw in att sim, its 4g immediately no APN configuration needed

I will be using a T-Mobile SIM so that is out of the question. But thanks for the information
I have an unlocked Gt-i9505 and all frequencies match for higher network signals but all I'm getting is edge. My Imei number I think is wrong. And I could really use a detailed description of the engineering mode.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
So you're trying to use the i9505 on T-Mobile in the USA? If so, I think you will only get 3G/4G speeds if you're in an area where the 1900Mhz band has been refarmed.
I have an unlocked Gt-i9505 it's through t-mobile originally but my service provider is straight talk. I have compared the frequencies for the network in my area along with my phone I funny understand why I'm only getting Edge. I should at least get 3g. It may have something to do with my Imei number, it says I have an s3.... I don't have a bootloader and there isn't an option to pick my network mode like 3g/4g/edge /lte... Messing with engineering mode I made my wifi icon blue for the first time ever but it didn't stay.

Hi guys i'm wondering if i have the maximum speed from my provider (Rogers). I did some speed test.
2.89 mbps/0.8 and 12.2 mbps/0.8 mbps. I'm not sure if im on LTE or just 4G. I can't show you my homepage (I'm new can't post link) but I have the symbol 4G, not LTE like my iphone 5s
If you see only 4g symbol on rogers than its only 4g. Should be ltev on canadien devices.
And your speedtests tell me your on 4g.
Call rogers they will help you . maybe its error on there end if not go to setting/ networks and select lte gsm
