Hello guys!
I just bought a simfree htc one x in amazon-japan.
i tried to insert my simcard but it always says no service.
i think it's because it is simfree and it's only applicable in UK.
(I don't have any idea about simfree. I just wanted to have the phone so badly.)
is there a way i can use this phone or should i sell it?
I hope you can help me.
Thank you very much.
are u using an aws sim card?

Thank you sir for your reply.
No, what i bought is the UK version and not the japanese htc one x.
I tried inserting a softbank sim card and it works fine now, but softbank is a W-CDMA (UMTS 3G) network.
some people say that "simfree" phones does not support GSM bands,
but i live in a country that all network providers use GSM networks. (I'm in japan only for a business trip)
can i use this phone in my country? because i'm really going to sell this phone if not.
It is defibitely a gsm phone. it should support any gsm sim cards , rest assured

Hi guys,
Seen reviews of the Incredible and absolutely love it.
Can anyone tell me if the North American version of the Incredible will work in the UK? I'm thinking about buying/importing one with my pay cheque next month but am scared that I may receive a phone that can't pick-up any signals here.
I'm pretty sure these are all the bands we use here in the UK.
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Can anyone clarify?
It is Verizon which makes it CDMA not GSM.

Ok, I get that it's going to be CDMA only but is that a software issue or hardware? Basically would I be able to convert it myself to GSM?
Check on GSMarena.com. They say it has GSM frequencies for HTC incredbile.

But Verizon does not use sim cards so there is prob not a card slot on it.
I know it's an exciting phone but to overuse a wonderful line:

Sorry.
You won't be able to use this phone for any carrier other than Verizon. With the right ROM and radio hacks you could get it to run on another CDMA carrier. You would be better off grabbing whichever version of the nexus one is available for your frequencies and hoping that someone ports the Incredible ROM over to the Nexus. This seems like it is likely to happen in short order IMHO.
Recap:
Verizon only CDMA Radio software
No GSM or HSPA support
No Sim card or sim card slot of any kind
Hi guys,
I bought my HTC Desire from USA and I want to use it in Europe. My seller told me I can use it only in USA. Can I unlock it and use in Europe?
Thanks in advance!

Is it a CDMA Desire from US Cellular? If so, it won't work full stop and can never be made to work.
If it isn't, you should be ok with an A8181 and an A8183, but not an A8182 which will not get European 3G.
Regards,
Dave
Yes, it is CDMA Desire from US Cellular.
So now I have to give it back.
Thanks for replay!

FYI, there are no CDMA carriers in Europe. So, any phone from a US CDMA carrier cannot be made to work on a European network, with the exception being a handful of so called "world phones" which essentially have both CDMA and GSM radios.

Dave
Hi, I want to buy a SGH-T989 but live in the UK. If I buy one from ebay, which has been unlocked, will I have any issues using it on a British network, specifically Vodafone? It uses UMTS at 900Hz and 2100Hz for 3G, though I believe most of the network is 2100 rather than 900. Since the T989 supports this, could someone confirm I will be able to connect to 3G? Thanks in advance for replies.

There's no easter egg. This is mainly a CDMA phone with GSM bands as well.

there is no "cdma" sim....this phone is marketed as a "world phone" buy running on verizons cdma network, while having a gsm sim slot to either run the included verizon/vodafone sim on gsm networks or to unlock the phone and run a different networks simcard
off the top of my head, droid 2 global, htc merge (never sold by verizon but available to 3rd party retailers) are other android vzw "world" phones
thanx dudes for getting me to the straight.
Can anyone list all the worldphones by Verizon or share the link of Verizon Worldphone page?
Also if possible share the forum thread of that Chinese ROM.
<offtopic> In India CDMA operators are based on RUIM cards (similar to SIM of GSM), hence unlocking the bands means hassle-free freedom to choose any CDMA operator any time!

Yes it will work on both Softbank and DoCoMo. Your best bet would be Softbank as they are much cheaper then DoCoMo, atleast from my experience living there 1.5 years ago

Softbank and DoCoMo both are GSM
Both also use 2100 mhz for 3G and as most phones support all 2G frequencies SO it will work for calls also.

I can't use Softbank 3g, can you help me?
I bought an unlocked Galaxy Note 2 in USA, and now I bought another phone (Aquos-Sharp) here in Japan (from Softbank) just to use the SIM Card. The phone calls and sms are working ok, but I can't use the 3G. The data process isn't working. Somebody can help me please?!

I tried using the opensoftbank APN settings, but I still don't have access to the Internet on the Note 2. I am using the micro SIM from the Softbank Motorola Razr M. Any ideas?
My understanding is that getting cell service can be difficult for foreigners in Japan. The cell companies don't make it easy from what I understand. Do your research before you go.
As the others say Softbank is your best place to start looking.
