I haven't yet seen a video player that fully removes the soft key. More like it hides them and shows four circles instead which can cause "led fatigue"

Best music & Video player app till samsung galaxy S?

Can anyone advise me on some of the best music & video player app one can use instead of the stock versions? If you consider design of the player apps and it's functions. Thank you. BTW, the stock player does not have a STOP button. Now that is lame.

Best video player I've used by far is Act 1 - my review here: http://www.theandroidappreviewer.com/app-reviews/act-1-video-player-app-review/
It's only recent, but Lithium is by far the best player I've used.
The interface is very professional with great gestural control, 4 widget sizes, automatic album art downloader, custom playlists, replacement lockscreen when music is playing, etc.
But I like it best for the interface. =)

Yeah I had a word with the dev and he said that he may come up with a paypal version but he does not want to right now 'coz of licensing issues.
He said and I quote.
Regarding Paypal, I didn't yet create an account. But then you need to manage the release of updates (need a license key etc). Which might require quite some DEV.
But will think about it in the long term.
Thks again for the support.

mVideoPlayer for movies/videos
Music Player Pro for Music
Music Mod for Music widget
There is no player that does PROPER gapless playback for mp3...
Even .ogg and .flac files all produce a statick click when the next track begins. Is this a 'feature' of the Galaxy in general?

I totally agree!! I love Lithium. I'm trying this new one now called "ttpod" which downloads lyrics and lets you display them over top of all apps. Get a copy and turn off karoke mode if the lyrics over top annoy you . Best movie player I would say is mVideoplayer . I just havn't found anything else like it (paid or otherwise)

Have you tried Lithium ? settings for it but I really couldn't care about gapless play
I've just tried mvideoplayer without success, but I still can't seem to find a (free) video player that will play (or even acknowledge) my .mpg videos!
I'm not interested in subtitles or any other format apart from .mpg
Any suggestions?
Maybe winamp or realplayer?

For audio either winamp or power amp for video its either the stock player from SGS or mVideo player, I didnt include rockplayer on the list as it has issues with a lo of my HD anime files.

Did you actually read my question EarlZ ?
The best music player has to be powerAMP. And the best video player is in my opinion the stock player, it's slick and clean and plays many kind of videofiles flawlessly like MKV.
Personally I think the stock music player is great. Equaliser, effects, and the disc view is pretty cool. As well as controls on the lockscreen (only when using glass lock) and app drawer.
Have yet to see a 3rd party one that makes me want to switch.
For video mVideoPlayer is my favourite. It lacks the 5.1 sound option from the stock player though.
I have yet to find a music player that can sort by album artist (not artist) and provides an output selection of bluetooth or phone.
Really frustrating that such basic features don't exist.

[Mango] Media Player Yay!

Finally, media player allows timeline scrolling!
Praise the Lord!
One more step toward smartphone perfection...
I found that last night, good isnt it!

Audio scrubbing in the Zune player?
HOW?
To go forward or back in a video you had to hold the buttons... Now you can slide your finger on the timeline bar, or just tap anywhere on it... Much much better...

Seriously need to do it, I mean it's the most basic of features to have in a music player I'm bemused as to why they haven't implemented it yet.

I guess the reason is because the timeline of the music player is pretty small. I imagine that doing an accurate search with it close to impossible. The timeline if the video player is way larger though.

Indeed. The lack of this basic feature means WP7 is useless for playing audio books, podcasts or language learning CDs - basically anything longer than 60mins. I still have to carry my ipod for this, so 2 devices.

The current Ipod Nano 6G has a 1.5" square screen, and supports full timeline scrubbing. Left and right to move through the timeline, up and down to slow down and speed up; exactly the same as on the iphone and ipod touch. If this tiny device can get it right, surely Microsoft can figure out a way on a 3.5"+ screen?
Not happy Zune player
Zune player is cool but it doesnt have equilizer and i cant hear audio if I connect my stereo bluetooth(Dell BH200)headset while playing videos... Please suggest some third party video apps plz..... Thnx
Wow, just wow
You can do a reg fix that will allow you to listen to videos on your BT if you are unlocked and I will send a pic to show you where. P.S if this helps, click the thanks button.

[Q] SIII PopUpPlay and Navigation?

With the release of the S!!! im finally hoping to see my dream come true of having google navigation in a floating window so i can see the nav and pandora/other apps at the same time, anyone have any idea if this will be a possiblity (since it seems that it will initially only support playing videos from the media player :? ) Any ideas?
theres apps available already i believe that allow you to do this
ill do a quick search and link them on here.
EDIT: heres one
STICK IT (Pop up Player

THis one helps as well

why would this app be for people with ADD...
Im aware of the ability to watch video on the s3 and the apps that attempt to replicate that currently available, but my question was if the s3 software would be able to be modified to open other types of content (ie google nav) in a window, and not just video from the media player. any idea?
bump, got to activate a couple s3's at work (sprint rep/tech) and the windowing feature is really smooth but is only available to video opened from the media player any idea of theres/ will be a way to open other apps to that feature?

VCL Player Beta

I stumbled across this somewhere, honestly I don't remember where or I'd give credit. Someone here on XDA posted it in a thread response. But I never saw an actual thread about it, and search did't turn one up. So I figured I'd make one because so far as I have been able to tell, this is the best video player option right now. It's been way better for me than Vplayer so far. So here it is, the VCL Media Player for Android Beta App. Those of you who know VCL from Windows probably just jumped out of your chair or got a chubby. So far, it's played every format of video I have thrown at it. I have not tried any audio with it. Probably it would own those too, that's what VCL does.
EDIT: I accidentally attached the wrong version of VCL. It did work flawlessly, but was designed for a different chipset. I have now changed it to have the correct version(The Tegra 2 version).
This version is ONLY for devices with a CPU ARMv7 that will support NEON.

I found it the other day myself, it was for a response to some else looking for a good avi player...I've been using it on my Nexus 7.
An amazing player, just like the PC version. Plays everything you throw at it without installing anything else. The Android version hopefully will stay true as well.
Its been available on Google Play for a few weeks already. And to the OP. It's "VLC" not "VCL"

Any good Video player for nexus 2013?

MXplayer-----The dark scene is bad, it's too bright and shows a lot of black block
Stock player---The dark scene is good, but it can't show built in subtitle, and also no subtitle on/off?
Any other good video player to try?
Try Dice Player or a VLC nightly.
I always use BSPlayer - never a problem. I used to use MX Video Player but had a few minor problems that BSPlayer solved.
Edit
Archos player and codecs now available on Play Store (highly rated video player) and I am using that now. I keep BSPlayer installed as backup tho.

MX player always good. But Archos just released one called ArchosVideoPlayer. If anything, Archos has always been known for great video playback capabilities.

VPlayer Pro.
bsplayer you either dont upgrade and use SW decoding or upgrade for HW decoding and lose dolby audio
(bs is my favorite because it supports windows filesharing and I can access my home NAS without using a third party app like DNLA streaming or cifs/smb file browsers)
MXPlayer works well
VLC nightlies work well
VPlayer isn't as good as any of the above IMHO but still decent.
Did DicePlayer finally get its dolby support back?
I use MX pro..I don't have any issues.

The best is MX Player with the dedicated plugin
Or you can try VLC Media Player
The blocking you are seeing is encoded in the video you are watching. Try using encodes with a higher bitrate.
The fact you see those blocks in the black background is testament to Nexus display's excellent reproduction of near black levels. Many other devices you don't see the blocks is likely as a symptom of their poor displays.

No it's not good to have those blocks, if you look at Sherlock Holmes movie 2 from 9:30 to 11:00, you will know the blocks are not part of the movie.

I figure out this problem. Mx player allows to change the bright, if I change to darker, those block will not seen. Bsplayer can't display my buildin subs.

I use gplayer myself. I used to use mobo player on my evo3d because it could save streaming videos and could be played in a floating window but when I tried getting mobo on my n7.2 it seemed like it was an older version full of bloatware so I tried gplayer. Now gplayer doesn't have a save as feature but it is a stand alone YouTube player. So if you click on a video link in tapatalk it will just launch a resizable floating video player so you can still read the forums and watch the video at the same damn time. BTW the portrait keyboard on this n7.2 is really comfortable. I can type a long response and not break a sweat. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
