Hi All,
Was planning to get the One X next week, with the Reverse death grip news, I will not take that risk.
I am now considering One S. Not considering GS3 due to it's price.
I would appreciate if you could advise which phone would fit as a substitute, or maybe i should wait month for new batch of the phone?

Only some users have the wifi issue, it took over 2 months for this problem to be alerted by users, so doesn't sound major at all.
I have an international one x, had it from launch and never had any wifi issues.
And as I type this..... Full signal wifi

You realize the majority of phones aren't affected? Mine's a March (early) build HT23 and works as well today as it did when I got it. There's a chance you could get a unit with the problem but there's a much greater chance you won't.
I have the international version for 3 weeks now (bought from Expansys.ca) and no problems whatsoever. :cyclops:

Death grip lol, I hate the way people over exaggerate problems with this phone after reading a few threads on internet forums with problems. All phones will have probles with them, well when I say most I mean most companies (Samsung, HTC, iPhone) will have a few hundred phones that are defective. Get the One X, if you are unlucky, get a replacement within 28 days from the ship you bought it from.
my Wifi is perfect, the only problem with my phone is a yellow dot in the rottom right of my phone, well more like a patch but it doesn't bother me that much! I've rooted my phone so probably killed the warranty.
No wifi issues here, get the phone Always remember the people who have problems post on fourms, people who dont have issues dont. So it seems like the problem is widespread

My camera stopped working on my desire after 12months and I contacted HTC. Now I can't fault their service in that they picked it up when they said they would the next day and I have it back a week later. Although they failed to inform me it was being sent back to me.
I open it up and straight away I see my bronze fasica is now a slightly glossy black and they metal volume up and down buttons are now plastic. I fail to see why they had to replace these. My fascia was scuffed but then so is the new one! Also they replaced the AMOLED screen with an SLCD one. All this was done without asking me. The phone has the same S/N although different IMEI.
I just wondering if anyone has experienced this and I am likely to be able to get it back to the original colour. Not keen to have to lose my phone for another 7days - my old iphone 3g is unusable with the new iOS. I realise I am stuck with the screen, not sure if that is good or bad to be honest.
If you still think its broke raise a complaint. I had a nightmare with my trackpad repair.

The phone seems to work fine now, probably because they changed everything! But I would have liked to have got the same colour back as I sent off, as the all black and plastic buttons look a bit cheap. I am just a little surprised they needed to change it and you think they might have used a non-scuffed fascia.
I recently got my Desire back from HTC repair, they fitted a new touch panel and also a new bezel (due to a fault not damage). The bezel is the same bronze colour as the old one.
I wonder if legally they can just change the specification of my phone while repairing without telling me. If you took a car in for repair and got it back a different colour, now with a tinted windscreen and it had different scratches than before you would be reasonably annoyed. Not worth as much obviously but still I feel the point remains.
My box cleary says AMOLED screen and what I have now doesn't have one. I guess I am going to have to send it back to get the same colour as I sent them. Just waiting for them to get back to me now.

mines off for repair today. how am I gonna survive 7 days..
getting a new mainboard hopefully to fix the overheat/reboot problem.
i want something to go wrong so I get a free Desire S!
I am less interested in free stuff and just want the amoled htc desire in silver/brown (or whatever that colour is) that I had. I already have had to use my unbearably slow iphone 3g for a week now. And I still haven't heard back from HTC with the promised repair report and them telling me what they can do about it.
As for a photo, I will see what I can do.

I had to use my wifes old Pink Motorola RAZR for a week!
At the end of the day, you paid for the product with the spec you originally had. AMOLED and with whatever finish it had.
As subjective as it may be, the replacement or repair you receive should match the original product, and if you consider a change a downgrade, it is a downgrade.
If you need the phone, look at the SLCD as an upgrade (personally I prefer them, and theoretically, it is a better display). Better colour reproduction etc.
If not, demand a replacement, whether of parts or of the whole phone, that matches that of your old phone.
The reason for the differing IMEI but same serial number is because they replace all the internals, then assign your old serial number.

I just phoned HTC and apparently it takes five working days for them to know why the repair company did this and what they can do. This isn't exactly making me want to get another HTC phone at the moment. Any tips on how to get them to sort things out quickly?

I am digging up this old thread of mine as my phone has now been to the repair centre three times and is still not working properly. HTC will offer me a refurbished phone built by the repair centre, who I have little trust in, but I have to send my back and wait 7-10 days for another to be sent. A rough outline, or rant, can be found here: http://mollehill.blogspot.com/2011/11/htcs-uk-repair-woes.html
Anyone else had such issues? Or am I just being incredibly unlucky. Not sure I could buy HTC again or recommend them to others.
could they not do a change on delivery? They courier your phone and its swapped on your door step. you get your phone and they get your broken one.

They have now offered me a much quicker turn around on the phone.
Tried two and that's when I knew I better get out now before my 15 days was over. I must say , the galaxy nexus was the coolest phone I've ever used. Ics is amazing as is the beautiful screen on the nexus.
The dropped calls, bad battery life, below average camera, missed calls, texts that never were, pitiful LTE reception, and defective screen are all a few of the problems I couldn't live with anymore.
Bummer. Good luck with your next phone.

Sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience. I just got mine today and am very impressed with ICS and the display of the phone. I turned off 4G right away as I would rather save on battery life.
Sounds like you got a bad batch of the GN.
Welcome to the HTC rezound and the best ics experience to date. We have incredible reception on LTE.. awesome batttery life, and the screen has a higher pixel density than the nexus could ever hope to achieve.

100%. Oh what's that...you are not going to use the phone we all have? Thanks for sharing.....
As for everyone else...9 Android devices in a year...not because I am unhappy with them but because I LOVE phones and new technology. My only gripes are how annoying MTP is and the lack of an SD card slot. A kick stand could be cool, but overall.....10/10.
I'm not a fanboy, I just feel like fro the first time in a long time I got exactly what I paid for. No issues here at all.

I would love to see stats comparing failure rates, scratched screens and bugs between the GSM and LTE version. Going on Reddit, XDA and a few other sources the LTE device seems to be far more problematic.
I was going to write a longer reply to this thread, but I'm to busy posting in forums for phones I don't own.
I just don't understand the point (if there is any) of threads like this one. Everyone has the right to their own opinion but what do they expect out of these threads? Do they think people will notice or even care that they didn't stick with a phone or whatever it may be? No offense OP, I just can't understand these threads.

That may be true, but theres clearly an overall higher count of LTE users on XDA here. The international crowd (and US importers) are the minority of the "general user" type conversing here.
My screen has "grain" and the mini popping speaker sound. Plus no warranty and this is still the best Android phone to date IMO

Yea, I'm sure OP would appreciate the 5 minute battery life, the small lcd screen, and of course the amazing Scorpion chip that is based on 3 year old architecture
My screen had "grain" when I got it, and what looked to be burn in, but those have gone now, and have to say screen is almost perfect.
As for Rezound... I will personally, never use an LCD again unless they stop making LED screens.
Both phones are giving me the itchy trigger finger, and the phone's release dates are only a month apart. So I pose a question to the current G-nexus owners. What's the reasoning on choosing a device that is less superior and both selling for the same price?
I'm a nerd, So I like the idea of NFC and google wallet. Also, I wanted a pure google device. I hate that HTC is always the last to get updates and the first to add bloatware. If I was to look at another device, it would be the S3
If it s dual core evo, I would say just get the nexus

I am in the same boat here. As I see it I have three options. Stick with my Evo 3D, get a Gnex, or get a Evo 4G LTE. Right now getting a Gnex is looking good .
Super Amoled screen is better in my opinion. It's much more beautiful.
The Gnex is going to receive Android updates a lot sooner than the EVO.
HTC (in my cases) appear to drain battery quicker than any other manufacturer.
Why get a phone that will have a locked boot loader and wait until they release the unlock or wait months for someone to crack it ....no thanks

This is the same reason I went from a HTC 3d to the Gnex .... HTC is too good at locking down a bootloader. Some of the latest HTC phones need a jump wire to root them! That, to me, is crazy.
I loved my original Evo, but changing to the Nexus S, then to the Galaxy Nexus was the best thing I ever did. Nexus phones are a million times better, whether you leave them stock and unrooted, or you like rooting and roms. There's just so many advantages to Nexus phones.

I had no clue the One S had a super Amoled screen. That explains why the screen "WOWed" me.
Get the Nexus.
The new Evo will likely break easily, be laggy, and get updates 6 months later.
Also, developer support.

I hope to also get the Evo 4G LTE as well if all goes according to plan. I want both devices, but if I had to pick one it would be very hard for me. Yes, the GNex will get updates the soonest and there is a lot of support, but I still like Sense and developing for it. I know lots of my EVO 3D guys are getting the LTE and have asked me to make a ROM.
The new processor in the LTE might only be dual core, but it is a monster. I think it will be a good phone and it will be all about preference.

Coming from an evo3d to gnex i will tell you i will never buy another htc phone in my life. The smooth vanilla ics is amazing. No root problems (so easy to root), you dont have to worry about having a certain hboot to flash kernels and such, Plus the evo lte is kinda ugly imo.

It depends on what you want... The GNex will get official updates to Jelly Bean and, more likely than not, Key Lime Pie. The Evo, on the other hand, will be lucky to get Jelly Bean at all, and KLP is almost out of the question. Also, the GNex, like all Nexus devices, has first-rate dev support. If software is important to you, then there really is no other option-- the Nexus is sovereign!

Really? Been a long 7 days for ya, huh? Not enough that we got our Odin restore, a new leaked build with new radios, EOS, CM9 Kang, JakROM, TWRP, and being able to flash any custom kernel on the Gnex forum? All within 5 days of the official release. I think we're off to a great start.
Hey guys !
I got my HTC One X a week ago and preferred it over the Galaxy SIII after thinking alot and I'm glad to make the decision. I used it for a week and no issues uptill now. Multi-tasking is also great, maybe because I the middle east version. I just found that my phone was heating alot twice during this week but not so often. I think all smartphones heat up these days, having owned the iPhone 4 and 4s, Galaxy SII and HTC Sensation, all of them heated just like this one, so I don't take it as much of big deal. I think the phone is great and HTC has improved their sense skin alot and they also have a different sound set on this version. The camera is great. The best of all, the screen, it's GORGEOUS. Now for some pictures. Bought a cover and screen protector along with the phone and the pictures on the phone are with the protector ! Mine is the Taiwanese version.

To be fair when the phone 1st came out there was bugs in the original software, HTC have since addressed those with updates.
If you willing to root your phone there are options to reduced temperature of the Tegra chip from reducing voltage with custom kernel and disable 1 or 2 cores.
The One X is a great phone, enjoy.

I am now following you on Twitter. I send my One X back for repair last week. Got it back today, unfixed. The repair center (Dynafix) couldn't find the symptoms and they send it back unrepaired, while I attached a letter and some pictures explaining the problems. Despite that they couldn't find it, I am really asking myself what kind of people work there. On Twitter I contacted HTC a few weeks ago and they asked me to let them know how it went, so I told them this story. No reply yet, but it's just minutes ago.

I'm so lucky in a way, my carrier is very nice and they have noticed the problem now. So next week a new DOA to see if i can get a working device...
Feeling really bad about your position, i'm really hoping that your problem will go away when the next update is here then. What are your options? Someone? What can he do about it?

Updates won't fix this, it's plain and simple a hardware problem, took me quitte long to accept . How long do you have your phone? DOA is normally only the first two weeks. I made a small movie reproducing the wifi problem, just press your phone just above the volume rocker and signal shoots up more than 20 dBm, which is really a lot. It doesn't matter which router I try. WiFi Analyzer doesn't log in on networks, it just shows signal strength. And that signal strength is just way to low on every router. See also this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538

New Router works much better with my HOX!
Hi!
Bought a new router today Netgear WNDR3700 and it works much better.
I don't have to use static ip or any of the known tip to make wifi usable.
SO, i've not heated it up yet using charger and GPS, so lets see.
Speaking of GPS, today i turned on GPS and oh my god how bad it was.
So something is terrible wrong, but WHAT?! No one is telling us nothing.
For thoose who can press and hold it must be hardware related, but mine, is it just poor programming?
I'm so regretting my choice of device now.
