[Q] HTC One X upgrade Android 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 - HTC One X

Hello everyone,
I bought one x a few days ago and I'm already in love in it, but there's only one thing that prevents me to be perfectly happy with my new phone, it is 3 Dots Menu! So, the case is:
My HTC was on Android 4.0.3, so I installed Android Revolution HD 6.1.1, the thing is I have no "Display, gestures and Buttons" menu, there's only "Display & gestures".
I know that if I had Android 4.0.4 I would be able to install Revolution HD 7 ROM, and it has 3 dot menu remover.
So, my question is: Is there any way to install Andoir 4.0.4 manually, then root it, and install Andoir revolution hd 7?
I know i'm noob, I used to have iPhone.
Please help, it is a metter of life and death!

Install InsertCoin 7.2.0. It has the new build.

Is InsertCoin as good as Revolution? I mean Tegra 3 optimized and etc. And does it have any 3 dot menu remover?

Why. Not look at the devs thread? You're question would easily be answered there.

It has the dot remover, the recent key is mapped as menu, and it got tweaks.

the roms that you install are built on a particular android version so arhd for example is built on android 4.0.4 (I think) so you don't need to upgrade to that android version before installing that rom. its the other way around, when you flash that rom you will upgrade to that version of Android. good luck

Or use ARHD 7.1.0 if you wanna stick with the same Dev

I upgraded to ARHD 7.1.0. It looks cool everything is ok. But is there any chance to make battery last longer?
I mean, I think comparing to 6.1.1 battery dies sooner. Is it fault of new version? Also, can you tell me what to tick when installing 7.1.0 to get better battery life?
Thanks in advance.

I've no idea, I've not rooted my phone (first one I've not done it). I want to keep my warranty intact

Where can I find the Desire S GSM ROM for the Desire GSM?

Unbranded/Unlocked/Stock/Rooted HTC Desire GSM with Froyo
That's all really.
I don't want to move away from HTC Sense (even though I hear Cyanogenmod is very good) but would like the latest version of HTC Sense and Gingerbread. A few questions please:
1. Where can I find the Desire S GSM ROM for the Desire GSM? With installation instructions. I've already rooted.
2. I take it this is the best HTC Sense ROM to install? HTC Sense 3 (HTC Sensation) looks to be in it's infancy.
3. Will this ROM allow me to remove some of the preinstalled bloatware so I can install more apps?
Reasons for wanting to upgrade:
1. Increase storage, so I can install more apps. I'm always running out of storage.
2. Increase battery life.
3. Latest HTC Sense + Android.
Thanks
I should add:
1. I've tried searching but it drew a blank. All I could find was stock Desire S ROMs. I don't have a Desire S, so am guessing these won't work on my Desire.
2. I've never installed an Android ROM before, please bare that in mind when replying but have rooted my HTC Desire without trouble and also years ago installed TomTom on a cheap Chinese (Windows CE) satnav, again without much trouble.
Thanks.
p.s. - Apologises for posting this in two forums, it's not exactly clear which is the correct forum. Please delete whichever thread is in the wrong place.
There isn't a decent Desire S ROM available, better looking at a Desire HD one (or my normal Desire 2.3.3 ROM )
Well you are right when thinking you can't use the desire s roms, as they need to be fitted to the hardware.
And if you want more space, i will suggest you stay on stock desire rom, as desire s roms fills quite a bit more. You should start looking at some a2sd scripts instead(those are also used to make desire s rom fit into desire).
If you want the new sense and gingerbread, we have a forum just for roms(development) in there you will find 1 thread for every rom. The one you will be searching for is "rcmix s" and yes as eddyos states try to go with desire hd instead.

Thanks for this Eddy. Can you point me to the link or what to search for?
It looks like you're running an HTC Desire HD ROM with Gingerbread. I'm pretty sure the Desire HD officially still runs Froyo. Cool.

Got it thanks. It sounds like I want the Desire HD ROM instead. Does that have the same version of HTC Sense as the Desire S? I thought it was newer again, no?
I'm not running a DHD ROM - I'm using an original Desire 2.3.3 ROM
Look for SuperDuperAwesomeROM in ROM Development if you wanna look

Funnily enough I've just been looking at that thread. If I was to flash a new ROM, I'd definitely want the newer HTC Sense and Gingerbread. Any idea where I can find the ROM for this (I'm guessing Desire HD)?
Cheers

[Q] benefits of updating to android 2.3 on HTC desire

Hello every one
I have a HTC Desire, I have goggled about the new update to android 2.3 and I found a lot of people getting very angry about the delaying of this update
I am just wondering ....about the benefits of this update and the differences that it will bring to the phone?
And also for the rooted phone can I update using the normal way?
(i.e setting>about phone>System software update) I heard that this way will make me lose my root or may break my phone.
Or is it better to wait for the custom room? does it deference from the original update? and which is better?
Sorry for the many Question as I am new in this stuff

You can't update rooted phone OTA (System software update),
but I think custom ROMs will be still ahead (e.g. with Sense 2.1/3.0 stuff), even if HTC releases 2.3
some bugfixes for a start.
they say that GB is faster than FroYo too.
but they finally fixed the mail app for a start so it will set up with hotmail EAS which is nice.
And they fix bug in google calendar, contacts and picasa they found out on froyo and other versions of android except GB, that some informations are send through wi-fi un-encripted and that brings user in danger.

open wifi only or something wasnt it?

But the main downside is crappy battery. Well thats for my phone

Battery life is much improved with 2.3 for me anyway.
When the phone is idle it doesn't use as much power as Froyo did.
To be honest, if you're happy enough to root I would just go ahead and try a 2.3 rom. LeeDroid is super stable.
Not only that but midmost of the popular roms will get updates regularly and have great support.

But if I install the new custom ROMs 2.3. Does this mean that I am running Android 2.3 ?
i.e if some application required android vesrion 2.3, can I run this application on this custom ROMs or not ?

One can update a rooted phone with an ota (over the air) update, but one will loose root excess.
I hope I'd get mobile data working again. It freezes all the time when dropping from H to 3G. upload arrow just freezes on and radio doesn't respond for a while.
This appeared after previous smaller update during winter.

I think you should change the name of your topic...
Vanilla is used in android when the build is from google source or cyanogen's source, this is known as an AOSP build... (=>No Sense)
What you want is a "stock" rom with root, right?
The most popular GB roms with sense is:
LeeDrOid HD, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056727
and
Android Revolution HD, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040

[Q] My One X Customization

Hi Experts.
I recently got a HTC One X, it is the UK Orange version, and i live and use it in India.
android ver - 4.04
sense - 4.1
softwre no - 2.17.61.3
htc sdk api - 4.23
kernel - 2.6.39.4
i had installed a custom rom to my Incredible S couple of months back.
and with a lot of courage, i have Rooted my brand new HOX
now.. i really like to know -
1 - which stock like Rom do you experts suggest for my model ( shouldnt be much different from stock, but faster, with mods & without bloatware & Latest)
2 - should i also flash my radio? How? which one?
Any other mods that you suggest for better battery management, faster.
please .. i know that similar questns are asked, but this is more specific.
Post links, and that would suffice
waiting desperately
someone?? anyone?? plz help....
I would recommend the viperX Rom to you from team venom. It's great. Probably the best Rom in the way of tweaks. Download that then do the OTA updates. I also like to recommend the bricked kernel as it has a swipe to wake option and with vipers tweaks you can easily overclock and change frequencies the best ics in my opinion

I would agree.. ViperX rom is one of the best sense based ROMs out there. There is loads of customisation options.
Also another great ROM would be AndroidRevolution HD.

Give a try to latest insertcoin rom (13).
Furthermore if u want:
In a fileexplorer (es explorer or solid explorer) go to root folder -system-apps and delete unneeded apps with caution (u need to know what u are doing). If u want i can create a minimized version of it 4 u and upload it... (whithout medialink, htc location, video editor, stock wallpapers, without live wallpapers and all that crap - at least i like it without them). Then u'll get a perfectly sleak rom.
I tried maximus rom, venom, renovate, revolution HD...
Believe me, this one is the smoothest around...
So long story short, let me know if you want my lighter version of insertcoin.

Android 2.3.5 to 4?

Hi guys..
So today I retrieved my old htc desire z which, apparently, I left in my drawer for a good time sporting android 2.3.5 and sense 3.5 (Revolution hd ROM by mike86)... My clockworkmod version is v5.0.2.7.. is it possible to flash any recent ROM with this recovery or do I need to flash a new recovery to begin with when I want to start running more recent ROMs?
Thanks a lot!
