Hi all,
I've got Leedroid and would like to know how the hell people get the 3000+ scores on quadrant ?
I've used most of the roms with a lot of the kernels but the most i get is around 2500 - 2600 , i've heard that the kernel by Kamma is a good one but i'm at a loss as to which one i should use.
So if anyone could point out which one i could use for .
1. Stability.
2. Battery saving.
3. Benchmarking (without smoking my device of course)
Any answers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

the first thing you need to understand is quadrant is ****, it is not an acurate indication of the speed of your device, a few devs have made kernels that trick quadrant into giving it massive scores, but in reality there kernels are not the best that being said, you wont find a better kernel for stability or speed than leedroids one, it is flawless you can download it here

Have you noticed much difference between 2.0.5 and 2.0.6 kernels? The LeeDroid thread is getting very lengthy to read through these days to catch up on new updates lol!

Yeah the new one is based on the latest kernel source, with the 1.75 libs,

Tbh I use leedroids newest one an its really good, quadrant gets 2500 +
The device is smooth as silk, bit then again it always was.
I didn't know that quadrant was pants, I thought it was a good benchmarking tool.
Confirm that the newest kernel of Lee is the best!but in a few days he prepare a new awesome BFS kernel...
Mmm badly ****ed scheduler. My favourite.
If you want good quadrant, buy the paid app which gives higher scores than the free one. Do the I/O hack which core and lee droids use. Use Leedroid kernel at max freq, performance governor, and finally run it in airplane mode.
Follow all those steps and you will get around the 3000 score.
You should state if you use quadrant standard or advance when posting results as they do differ. Otherwise it's like comparing oranges to mandarins. They are both orange but one is always bigger.

Yea it's just the standard version of quadrant, I thought that it would do the job.
Also i don't want to trick it or actually buy an app just so it can give me higher scores, that's not actually helping at all, i'll try the airplane mode to see if that helps, my phone is rapid anyway so it's only for my own satisfaction and to see how high i could get the score to go to.
Hi there, thinking about getting SetCPU - I have some questions before I do because I hear it can be dangerous?
- I've heard it can brick your phone?
- What if you set it too high?
- Do you personally have to monitor it?
- What are the benefits?
- Use alot of battery?
- Is it really worth using?
- Is it optimized for different phones - example the One X?
Thanks guys!

Hi, i have read that SetCPU cannot view all the cores i have read alot saying that System Tuner works fine you might want to try that.
I used to use SetCPU on my sensation and never hand any issues with it i did not monitor the app at all
Benefits allows overclocking if available in kernel
it can be overclocked and cause some issues such as overheating but if set correctly will be fine doesnt use much battery if any
and no i dont think you can brick your phone
if you set it too high i believe i had to reflash rom nothing major
BTW this is based on my own knowledge and usage
Hope this helps

None in theory, if the CPU is slower it takes longer to go from
idle - process - idle
Faster speeds allow it to get it over and done with faster and get back to idle.
Of course it will at times stop the CPU going higher than it needs too which could save battery.
Under volting will save more batter then underclocking ever will.

undervolting requires your phones kernel to support it, currently on these forums there is only one that does but i haven't tested it, sticking firm to the "stock kernel is best" and will do untill the kernels have more time to mature.
you could limit your max speed to 1 GHz, if you are rooted you can use Core control to turn off cores and run your phone as a dual core.

Not to be lazy, but would running the phone as dual core and limiting it to 1 ghz result in a perceptible battery savings? I'm trying to get a feel for how much I should expect custom ROMs to make my One X perform up to par. Thus far, I've installed two custom ROMs and felt like the improvements were all safely in the minor category.
I did install cyanogenmod 7 on a phone last year wow, that resulted in major benefits.

Running on 2 cores stops the phone from using and 2 cores uses less power then 4, playing games and using all cores is over kill 2 cores will run the game without lag use less power and make less heat.
You'll maybe get 10% from doing that but I haven't tested.
Really the only time any of this saves battery is during demanding programs, tegrea has a super low power companion core, for all your power saving needs.

I tried conservative governor while downloading sd files for Nova3 gave execllent results
I strongly advice not to undervolt tegra3
t3 is not like any other chip and UV or OC should not be attempted
OC because the chip is already at the max of its thermals
UV for the same reason n might end up with problems like flicker
changing governors and UC should be enough
Hello, after running all the kernels currently available for kindle fire, I cant help but noticing that none can clock up to more then 1200mhz. While this is an improvement, I would liek to see a kernel that could overclock all the way up to about 1400-1600mhz. I am sure that the kindle could handle it, It does fine with 1200mhz. Any thoughts, anyone think the kindle could handle this. If so, whats stopping all these great devs?
What a great thread to start. While we're at, here's what I'd "liek" to see: push the CPU to 3 cores. And can we get a higher pixel density, devs? I mean, come on!
My understanding is that no one will release a kernel OC'd to more than 1200 because it's dangerous. Even if some Kindle's can handle it, some can't even handle 1200, and it would cause too many problems with people breaking things. If you want it that bad you'll learn how to compile your own kernel.
This is the development section. Not the Q&A/General. If you would like something, please try it yourself. Remember, everyone does this for free and as a hobby.
What hasoon said...
What Jake said is correct also, it would take waay too much work to get an overclocked kernel stable enough for the masses. Lower frequencies are generally more easily overclocked to higher levels than already high frequencies are.
Plus, why would you even want to overclock, what app/game is it that needs more than our 1.2ghz can handle, especially since we have a dual core cpu? I can't think of any and I have over 900 apps/games.(Not all on my KF, of course)
All it would do is drain your battery faster. Even games like NOVA 2 & NOVA 3(Probably not the most resource intensive games, but you get the point) run fine on 600 and 800 mhz.
Tl;dr:
There would be little to no benefit in furthur overclocking our KF's.
I agree, I use the "Kindle" at a frequency of 800MHz, and I have enough speed for gaming and work)
But that should be added, so this optimization core to increase the autonomy of the "Kindl"
0xD34D had a 2.6x capable of 1.3ghz. Worked well, I had no issues.
If your still stock ROM look it up although some will say it's "dated".
Keep in mind just because it's clocked higher does'nt mean it's faster.
At 1.3ghz it felt OK but benchmarked well below 1.2ghz, something I've noticed on my G-Nex as well. Once over a certain speed performance drops.

What's the point in posting crap like this other than to be a troll?
Short answer is no, it's not going to happen.
All trolling aside half our devs didn't even want to go to 1.2
Do to differences in device state / hardware race (yes there are some differences in hardware albeit small and not expected by Amazon to be noticeable in stock, that obviously changes when you start changing the OS), there's no way to know who's kindle will support what clock speeds.
If that's not enough for you let's consider that TI clocked it at 1024M for a reason and that any manipulation beyond the MFG specs is going to run the risk of shortening the devices life. You'd get a similar response from me if you are talking real PCs as well. Quite frankly the risks of high OC are not worth the reward, for any device IMHO

any one here can be a "dev" with learning and patience.
if we don't take it upon ourselves then we can't rightly complain with what's available.
with that said i will. i personally do't agree with the argument that it's not good for the device, some can't handle it, etc., so it's not done.
My gnex with the latest faux123 kernel can be set as high as 1.8ghz.
i cant get past 1.35 without a massive hit to performance, same with any other kernel that allow crazy high clock settings. there's a few.
At 1.56ghz it locks up. i don't blame faux123 for the instability at those speeds.
when battery life isn't a concern i'm clocked at 1.35ghz. i won't blame him if the phone stops working either.
I like that he put it there allowing me to try it. it's fun to push the limits. this is about fun.
There's a demand for oc'ing everything. I'd do the same with the KF, although from the 0xD4aD kernel i already know my KF was perfectly stable at 1.3ghz even with uv.
i wish i had the patience but sadly i don't so I wait.

reduce your overclock to 1.4ghz...really no need to go above 1.4ghz currently

I'm running the Titanium Kernel build#4 and occasionally take it up to 1.7GHz; the handset does get extremely hot (battery temps were somewhere in the range of 50C-60C, I think) so I never OC that high anymore. It probably cant be very good for it
As for "best" ROMs, it really does depend on what you prefer, but flashing the Titanium Kernel and running the Lionheart governor seems to give the best performance and battery life at a 1.4GHz OC, for me anyways.

That is true. The CPU can withstand ~100°C but not your hand. Standard phones has plastick fascia, so you are not sensing the heat that much as in our aluminium V. The phone can withstand that much, the question is how long...
As for me, I use the phone at stock 1Ghz, and for me it is more than enough.

What are your guys' opinions on the performance of these two kernels? From what I've gathered it seems like KToon's kernel is meant for overclocking, but then what would one use task's for?
Task's recent update to his kernel makes me want to try it because I've been using KToon's kernel with the ktoonservative governer and row scheduler UV'ed a little bit but unlocked to 2.1GHz and have been having some pretty bad battery life in mu opinion, do you think switching to task's kernel would be better on the battery?
Well what do you guys think?
Fun Fact for the day. Versus threads get shut down in no time here on XDA.
P.S- Why wouldn't you just try it first before making a thread about it? Kernels take about 3 seconds to flash. Also. No one can tell you that you will get better battery life on one or the other considering all of the variables. We are all in different locations, use different apps, have different settings, and we all use our devices differently. You need to try them both out and see which one works better for YOUR device.
Man why are ya giving me a hard time? You kicked me out of your thread, which I understood and respect, but then you come here and tell me the same thing you told me before and that my thread's gonna go to the bin in no time.
I'm just trying to find out what the DIFFERENCES between the kernels are, because it isn't very clear in reading the descriptions/OP's,
They wouldn't co-exist if they were exactly the same.
I'm not too interested in tweaking the hell out of my device nor do I care too much about overclocking...I just want a lot of screen time and the ability to play games and SMS with little lag.
I have tried out both kernels and didn't really notice much difference because I didn't really know what to look for.
Like, okay or example, it seems to me that your kernel is less for tweaking and isn't for overclocking (max 1.6GHz or something?) while KToons can go to 2.1.

I'm not giving you are hard time. I'm just telling you the facts here. If you're not into tweaking and messing with things then this is simple and really shouldn't make a difference to you which one you use other than battery life, less lag, ect... Which no one can tell you one is better than the other for. Flash one and don't touch the settings for it and use it how you normally would for a day or two. Then do the same for the other kernel. See which one gets you the best results. Its the only way to find out. Not quite sure why you're refusing to take my advice here. Its pretty straight forward.
There's kernel source in both threads that explain in DETAIL all the DIFFERENCES between the two. It literally only takes seconds to flash and see for yourself. This shouldn't be a big deal at all.
I think they re two of the same.Task just doesnt want KT to know he borrowed his kernel...lol jk. But seriously, they're pretty similar.KT seems better on the performance end but I never got the exceptional battery stats that ppl keep posting,IdK it may be something on my end. On the other hand, task's seemed better on my battery as I could not noticeably see my battery drain during use as I did on Kt's. Furthermore my phone does get hot really fast on task kernel,I'm guessing its cuz we use performance control and can't really play in the voltages as much.

Also, are the same governers and I/O schedules available between both kernels? The only settings I'm used to using is ktoonservative and row, I wouldn't really know what to do in performance control to emulate what I've done in KTweaker.

He cannot answer this question honestly. He doesn't have your device. You're not understanding. He can have the best battery life possible on my kernel but if you use it, you could have the worst battery life possible. IT'S DEVICE DEPENDENT. Will you please just do yourself a favor and take 3 seconds, flash the kernel, and see. You say you've tried them both, but you are also asking about playing games and what not with them? You would know if you had tried them dude. Same goes for the governors & schedulers. You would also know that if you had actually tried them both. I need to ask you this. Why won't you just try them and see for yourself. Are you really the type of person to flash what people tell you to your expensive device?
Look dude. I'm only trying to help you here. I'm not quite sure why you wouldn't just take my advice here. I have quite a bit of experience with this stuff and I'm trying to help you get the best experience possible. But it seems as though you think that personal opinions of others are whats best for your device when in all reality they are not. Real life testing is what will prove to be best for your device. Trust me.

What You won't have on underwear kernel vs kt747: ktoonservative gov, vibration strength control, screen off max freq control, screen off gov control, fast charge, MHz range from 96 to 2106, undervolting capabilities and adjustments to governors and schedulers.
If you don't want to undervolt or tweak anything, I recommend you use underwear kernel. It is stable fast and oc to 1674mhz is alright for any gaming and it doesn't affect 3d performance.
If you wanna use ktoonservative governor then you will have no choice but to use kt747.
But anyway, what you really need is to try both and familiarize yourself with their features.
