Hi
A few months ago I saw a website that you could register your android phone with, which would allow you to track your call habits (Logs etc) data usage via Cellular or Wifi, Etc However for the life of me I can't remember what it was
curious if anyone has heard/seen it.
Thanx

I have a annoying problem with the inbuilt Google Talk app on my Desire.
When I turn the screen off Google Talk disconnects from the server and I don't receive any new messages until I turn the screen back on. Google Talk displays a message saying "Lost connection to server. Messages will be sent when online".
I have "always-on mobile data" active in my network settings. Have tried to disable the automatic away status and even resetting the phone to no avail. I have also created a new Google account and that hasn't helped either.
I use my phone on the Aussie 3 network. Can anyone else with Desire on the Aussie 3 network tell me whether or not theirs is doing the same? Also my Desire is the Aussie Telstra branded one.
Just to note the only way I can use Google Talk properly is if I use eBuddy. eBuddy does not disconnect when the screen is off.
Hi danielhtc,
How did you go with solving this problem?
I too have a HTC Desire and use the 3 network in Brisbane. All was working fine with Google Talk up to a few weeks ago when I started noticing that I would just loose connection. Not sure if the problem started immediately after the Froyo update, I wish I paid more attention now.
Using the GTalk Service App from the market I see that I'm loosing connection all the time. At first it appeared to be random, and know it is almost everytime the phone screen locks.
I spent hours trawling the net and still have no answer. I have flushed the cached data for Talk, Factory reset the phone and even tried a new Gmail account with a factory reset of the phone, all to no avail.
I've talked with 3 and they calim they can't do anything to help me figure out what is going on as it not a 3 Australia supplied handset so no guarantees etc..
Strange thing is that it was working fine for months, and then all at a sudden problems... At the moment my money is that 3 has done something to their data network, however it still could be an issue with the phone. Unfortunately until I can try my account with a new Desire I wont know for certain.

Hey all, I did not have much luck using the search. Tried to find other people who have had this problem.
We have 4 ATT Tilt 2 phones in my department. All with the same rom, radio, settings, etc. The difference in the phones is that 2 of them were purchased about a year earlier than the other 2.
*PROBLEM* TWO of the phones (the newer purchased Tilt 2's) we are getting alerts for high data usage from ATT. Looked at the ATT data logs, sure enough they have high data usage, large amounts at odd times. like 20mb - 100+mb transfers in the late night early morning, during the day. Not good, it is all adding up quick with no suspect in sight. The 2 users with this problem, use the phone data less than I do for day to day tasks and I am way under the alert limit, its not something they are causing---some of these data periods are while the user is ASLEEP (and no, we do NOT use MS myphone sync). Its got to be a phone software or software compatibility with the newer Tilt 2 hardware or something. I tried a couple different ROMS, same problem. Right now we are all on Energy.RHODIUM.21684.Sense2.5.Cookie.sencity.Nov.08
Radio: 4.49.25.77 (best signal in our area) Michigan
Please help. Thanks to anybody who can provide some guidance.
MOD feel free to close this thread since nobody seems to be able to help, I will try the ROM Devel thread instead.
what are your settings for weather , mail and Google locations services ?
I set all my mail to check once a day, and manually update it as needed, same for weather...also have you turn off any other automatic services ...

Keep in mind its the same for all 4 phones: weather updates every hr, mail every 5 mins (all text,no pictures), location serv on.

Okay first off i am sure you can monitor your data service, so pick a start time and turn your mail/weather setting to once a day, turn off location service , watch it for 24 hr's then only change the location setting back on for the next 24 hrs leaving the mail and weather the same...compare the results...if it is still using high data, then flash a stock rom...if the usage is still high then i suspect it is a hardware issue..just a guess but it kind sounds like it..
There was a PPC "virus" that was passed around not long ago where the program that was installed contained an executable that would dial long-distance numbers late at night. Try comparing the list of installed programs on the affected devices to the stable devices. Most likely, this sounds like a user generated issue. Feel free to post the list of installed applications here. I will try them out if/when I can find them.
I haven't used it before but have seen it recommended several times on this site...SPB Wireless Monitor (http://www.spb.com/pocketpc-software/wirelessmonitor/) should be able to tell you what's using the data on your phones.
I wonder if this has anything to do with it (SEEING THAT BOTH OF OUR USERS WITH THE PROBLEM WERE LINKED TO YAHOO MAIL ACCOUNTS! And not the rest of us)

And yes i realize this ref's phone 7 OS, but still...fishy
Is there a "Smart Protect" or similar available for the GalaxyS?. I do have the sim swap security enabled but would like to track the phone if it's lost or stolen. I have SP on my Omnia and it's been brilliant.
i use 'lookout mobile security' there is a free version and a paid version (or 30day free trial) and i think its awesome..... i can quickly go to the website mylookout.com if my phone is lost or stolen. i can switch gps on,,, track it down ,,, do a complete wipe of the phone,,, block the phone and loads more.. all from my pc..
and it doesnt drain my battery either (i keep mine active 24/7) cause i never know when im gunna get jumped by a load of chavs when im walking my doggie lol
Thanks ADazzle I installed lookout and it works well but...............
GPS needs to be turned on all the time (cell locate too inaccurate). GPS uses google maps so consumes data all day ? GPS consumes battery all day? or am I missing something
well i never have gps activated on my phone. but when i activated it thru mylookout.com it turned gps on and tracked it down quite well... there are a few 'gps fixes' out there that could improve the accuracy.... just put it in the search bar...
ive never looked this up as im happy with my gps accuracy
OK, thanks, maybe I was confusing GPS enabled with turned on.........you are correct......from Lookout FAQ
"Yes! Lookout makes use of the Android phone’s GPS receiver as efficiently as possible. When a locate is requested for an Android device, Lookout can remotely turn on the GPS while the locate is running and then turn it back off again (locates can run for a few minutes to get the best location results). This helps to conserve your phone’s battery life. Lookout only uses the GPS to get your location when you explicitly request it.
It should also be noted that if your GPS is enabled, that only means apps have the ability to use it. It does not mean it is being used continuously or that your location is constantly being tracked"
Where in the world are you? For some countries the built in security does just this plus remote lock/wipe.
Tehpriest, I'm in South Africa. I think I misunderstood 'Remote Tracker' as being activated only by a sim swap. Probably because of the way the description is written. Having read carefully once again as a result of your post, it appears it's a full function tracker.
I'll follow up and test it. 'Lookout' is working well and has back-up and a virus scanner too.
Tried it and web responds......."for legal reasons this service is not in service in some countries"
Checked with service provider and they confirm RT not enabled in RSA
I use Prey, it works by sim swap or activation text, never had reason to use it yet, but you can use it for multiple devices so have it on my iMac and my kids phone as well.
Hi guys
Need some help troubleshooting an issue.
LG G3 running Android 4.4.2 stock from LG/provider.
Since I got the phone 2 months ago I have been unable to stream media from my home media servers (PS3 media server/Plex). (yes other devices can stream from them)
Using the Android gallery they just show as empty. Using media house I can see everything but when I want to play something it just stays at the connecting screen.
Even if I kill the app my phone gets extremely hot and I experience extreme battery drain until I restart the phone.
Using my phones media server I am able to stream to other apps.
Questions:
1. I have done a lot of googling and only found one other person with this problem with no replies, has anyone experienced this before?
2. What sort of troubleshooting/logging can I enable/view on my device, or how can I diagnose this problem.
Thanks in advance and sorry if I left out any necessary info.
Regards,
I think this question suits better for the developer of said app. You can email the developer, email information is on the Gplay page.
I will try the app developer but I don't know how much they will need able to help as the problem is not limited to their app
My ROG Phone 6 (USA Version) on AT&T network is having an issue with mobile signal every time I use Google DUO (now Google Meet) every time I am on WIFI my mobile connection, connects and disconnects randomly but continuously until I finish the call or turn off WIFI, it only happens on this app, to the point that it can force a reboot sometimes.
I have also tried different video call apps such as whatsapp, telegram, facebook messenger, and the problem does not happen on such apps.
I have tried several things that came to my mind, such as, turn off 5G, turn off 4G, turned off seamless connection between WIFI and Mobile data, I turned off mobile data while on WIFI, I tried turning off Dual Band WIFI, I switch SIM card slot, I tried multiple combinations of all this options and still doing the same thing.
Has anyone faced the same issue, or is it only me? can anyone else on AT&T try such thing on Google DUO?
Maybe it's an app issue (are on latest version of app?) - look at app review/ feedback & try other VOIP apps (e.g Zoom/ Teams etc) to see if same issue, & also Meet on another phone if possible.

I have tried various other apps for video calling apps already, I read DUO app reviews on play store, but can't find a similar issue to mine on the reviews
