[ROM] Darky's ROM 9.3 switching kernels

Hey guys im new here this site has helped me heaps so thought I would become a.member of such a great community
First of all sorry if there are post containing this very question, I tried posting in the darkys rom extreme edition 9.3 topic but must be locked and didn't find anything relating my question.
Anyway im using this rom and loving it its brilliant. Im currently using the voodoo kernel and would like to change and try the speedmod without losing my ****. I have searched Google for a tut to switch kernels on darky's rom but didn't find anything. I read about speedmod from other users that are using it, and most on this mod seem to profer it and have the lagfixes and tweeks from recovery enabled, can someone walk me through the process or give me.some idea on how to do this?
Thanks heaps if you can help, much appreciated.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Hello,
Ok, go to the android market and download Darky's configurator app.
Appbrain Link http://www.appbrain.com/app/darkyrom-configurator/com.darkyrom.darkyconfig
In this app you can select a few options here and there, namely the one that allows you to choose speedmod. After you have chosen speedmod. Go to recovery mode and reflash Darky's Rom.
Thats all.
Regards,
Rexonon
no need to flash full rom again. Just go to Hardcore's speedmod thread and download the CWM zip file for latest version (k13c). Put this on internal sd card. Go into recovery and apply zip....that's it
(btw..you posted in wrong section)
Thanks heaps big help and sorry for wrong section.
So how does the lagfix and tweeks work. What do I enable for best performance? Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Performance is relative. It depends on how you use your phone.
Disable the voodoo lagfix before changing kernels. This is good practice for any flashing. Reboot, then back into recovery to flash the speedmod.
Try without lagfix to start with. Many roms don't require it.

Thanks hepatitis guys help me heaps
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
You can also use the App SGS Kernel Flasher, which can flash the kernel directly without the need of going into the recovery. Works flawlessy for me ... It can also backup your current kernel if needed
Ueh I was looking downloading that app wasn't sure if I should. Might look into it
I flashed the damianGTO ultimate 1_1 kernel played with the settings a bit and quite happy with this kernel. Ran benchmark and got 2154 not sure what the results actually represent but a result that high j have a feeling im going to receive battery drain, but battery life seems pretty good so far today.
Sorry for getting off topic but thanks heaps for everyone's reply all helpful replys
Appreciate all your help guys thanks

Nice, thanks for feedback.
To be honest iirc i don't remember if i had a wi-fi problem at first installation, anyway let me know if problems will occur.
I'm particular interested how do you feel with battery life in addiction to new governors, i feel good with lagfree right now and i'm loosing 2% overnight.

Good work!! Unfortunately, I can't test your kernel since I have a P1000L tab...
Just one question, you said that you choose to avoid RAM and LCD undervoltage. Can you tell me why? I have been using aggressive undervoltage settings for LCD (2.1V) and I haven't noticed anything until now. No glitches, no weird things. But I know that this can change between devices. Do you know if anyone has had any kind of problems with undervoltage?
Thanks!
Ronan
Ronan, good work to you since i've only applied your patches Thanks.
About RAm and LCD undervolting i've always had some doubt about the real gain in battery save and after seeing this post from Technomancer i've decided to give it a try.
Till now my battery last even better than before, don't know, it could be a placebo effect though
Too bad that i have only one feedback till now that i have 45 downloads

I'm just went to home and activated my wi-fi without issue but maybe it is because i've made a clean rom/kernel installation yesterday.
Give a try to reboot into CWM and clean CACHE and see if it work.

Lol i'm starting to have doubt that you have an euro tab . . . . Jk.
Anyway, are you using it with my rom or another?
I suggest you to stay with overcome kernel ( and rom if you have it) and maybe try again it once you will do a future wipe for a future rom.
I know, i can be boring but i do not have all these problems.
Thanks.

Add kernel in .tar format for flashing with Odin.
I downloaded it but I didnt update because some feedbacks seem bad with wifi.
However today I update it.
Very well.
Updated, I copy file "wpa_supplicant" to replace original file and my wifi is alright.
Thank you!
Sorry for my english so bad.
Thanks for feedback,
however, can you tell me from which rom version did you replace wifi_supplicant?
Thanks.

In this world nothing is created everything is copied.
If you copy and Better! The plane today is not the same but the Santos Dumont would not exist without his invention.
This is not just a zip, adjustments were made, testing, adjustments, tests, adjustments and improvements in scripts. I am not a great developer but as we all want the forum to collaborate and be respected That is why.
I am actually asking exactly that....I would like to know what those adjustments were......I would like to know what I am flashing before doing that......like memory management is itself a very broad category.....anything specific maybe...

INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure you are running a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Make sure you have busybox installed, if you don't or if you're not sure, download Busybox Installer from the Play Store (free)
- Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, just in case
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
- Flash PmR in recovery
- A wonderful touchscreen interface will pop-up
(devices need different touchscreen calibration, if the touchscreen doesn't work, use the menu button of your device, select "Calibration Tools" and follow the instructions)
- Follow the on-screen instructions, make your choices between all the different features to Pimp your Rom
- Select "Reboot my device" on last screen (or reboot from recovery) and enjoy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Encountering installation issues ?
Do the following to fix most errors you might get on some devices :
Open the zip of the rom you are running with winrar or 7zip or whatever (the .zip file that you flash in recovery)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android
Extract the file called "update-binary" and rename it to "update-binary-installer" then close your rom's zip
Open Pimp my Rom's zip (i.e : PIMP_MY_ROM-v1.5.3-by-Androguide.fr.zip)
Do not unzip it, inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android and delete "updater-binary-installer"
Now copy the "update-binary-installer" file you extracted & renamed from your rom to Pimp My Rom's zip (still in META-INF/com/google/android). Simply drag and drop it into PmR's zip to add it.
Close the zip and flash it

tip dont use GPS fix thingy ex. your rom is for europe firmware and your in asia dont turn it on
might end up on a bootloop just like me (or im missing something well didnt know all the answer)
just dont forget to backup all your files...

[REVIEW] [ROM] [NEW KERNEL] Hyperion 8 GM Final [09-27-13]

Hello guys! Just a review from Samsung Galaxy Y's awesome new rom. The better Hyperion 8.
Some of us have found some bug. The main bug that being talk all over is the NETWORK and IMEI.
I'm on Philippines so i tried the DXLL1 Firmware by Doky (stock) then i follow the instructions on Hyperion 8 thread and voila! My IMEI and NETWORK (also WIFI) has been fix. So i suggest guys to go to the latest firmware on your country then follow exactly the instructions and flash the new ramdisk with RIL as mentioned by SirCarl from his buglist.
[REVIEW BY USER] 09.27.13 10:40PM
Hyperion 8 is blazing fast! I read some post and they say flash the high velocity tweak and you feel the smoothness of the rom. I'm observing some bugs. From now, i'm going to test this for a week or two.
[WISH LIST ( mod for the rom ) ]
* ICS Transition (not the actual)
* White on white on some apps
* RAM Consumption
* Toggle icons hard to see
* Still on progress and observation
[ADVANTAGES]
* Battery Saver ( using the new ramdisk ril with savie kernel )
* Smooth
* Fast Blazing Speed
* Fast downloading on Play Store
[UPDATE 09.27.13 @12:03PM]
Flash some tweaks or play with it like PurePerformance X ( as said by deathfalls )
High Velocity ( from the HYPERION PAGE from Facebook )
i'm still looking more and make some changes to make this smooth.

Hey bro.. find dhd-1.1, 1.0 or dhd-stock. This helps to fix my wifi. Or if not
Download root explorer then follow this :
Goto /system/etc/wifi.
Find wifi supplicant (correct if wrong) and set permissions to rw-x-x. Also the wifi folder set to rwxrwxrwx or check all box.
Then reboot device.

* RAM Consumption
* Toggle icons hard to see
* Still on progress and observation
[ADVANTAGES]
* Battery Saver ( using the new ramdisk ril with savie kernel )
* Smooth
* Fast Blazing Speed
TWEAKS :
[SHARE][TWEAK] meCheat Tweaks- Android 2.3.5 - 4.1.2
[DEV][SCRIPTS][TWEAKS]High-Velocity | Fourth Build Up! More RAM! Strict Values!
[SHARE] [MOD] PurePerformances™X ◣ | Golden Edition | Scary performances on Android
Flash some of these tweaks. If anything happens, flash back from Odin. Take warning.
I've try one of these.
Check screenshots.
Hope you like
