Just bought gta for the one dollar let it download its crap then it just closed. Now every time I try to open it my screen goes into landscape and the screen goes black it hangs there for about 6 seconds then just closes back to home no force close message or anything. Tried clearing data and switching kernels same result.... someone help please

Have you tried disabling "Force GPU Rendering" under Development in settings? Not sure if this is your issue or not, but that caused a lot of issues with other apps so it's worth a shot.
Personally GTAIII works fine on my Galaxy Nexus.
Have you rebooted and tried. And try this as well. Delete the game data in SD card/android/data/com.rock star...
Then let it redownload. It should work.

It runs fine (or rather ran, because I just got the S3) on my Galaxy Nexus CDMA. It's the same hardware as the GSM one. Sometimes, yes, it will start up and hang on a black screen in landscape. You can just kill it and relaunch it (easiest way is if you turn on the option to kill by holding the back softkey). A bad download will also screw with the game; even if it launches and runs, you will run into glitches that break the game and might make it impossible to progress. Delete the game data (/sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/) and redownload.
Yes I have rebooted and I never had the force gpu option enabled so I guess my last option is to redownload the data for it, thanks everyone will get back in a while if it worked or not

I had this happen as well. When I got the game I started it up and it asked to download the extra files. I started that process and then went on with responding to texts/emails, etc. and when I tried to go back to GTAIII I had the exact same issues. Even force closing the app and rerunning it would give me the same problem. I had to delete the cache data for the app (which means redownload all those extra files again) and this time I started the download and just set my phone down and watched until it was completed. Then it worked
Yup a redownload fixed it, thank-you everyone

Running stock ICS haven't touched anything.
Every time I am in an app and click the home button it loads a blank home screen then takes a while to load everything on my home screen. It didn't use to do this, only started in the past few days. Any ideas?

I was having that issue after I installed a live wallpaper (Microbes). Got rid of that and it went back to normal.
Don't have a live wallpaper installed.

Are you using a custom launcher?Did you touch anything in developer options?
Did you install an app before it started acting up? It may not be fully compatible with 4.0 and causing issues. Also, have you tried to do a simple restart?
Found the issue. It was easy battery saver. Got rid of it and its fine now.

it case it happens again, what your experiencing is home screen redraw. it happens when the android system kills the launcher to save up memory.
this means that when you press home to go back to the launcher, it has to refresh, and redraw everything. and the more you have on your homescreens, and the more apps/widgets you have installed the longer it takes.
i've noticed it happening a lot on my phone when i'm switching between apps and then press home. It's normal for third party launchers but very strange for the stock one to have this so often.
I've had the exact same problem of late (also with the stock app-draw), I imagine it's a case of pinpointing the suspect app that's causing this. It's pretty serious though, a good 2 or 3 seconds and even then it's super choppy until the home screens are redrawn... The joys of early adoption :\
I was just searching to see if anyone else was experiencing this. I get the same over here.
I had similar issue. Something ate all my RAM, but it wasn't listed in 'running apps' in settings . Reboot fixed it
well folks, the sooner you go onto custom ROM the better. I tried ignoring these (and several other issues you are about to encounter) but the list was getting endless
I've bigxie and franco kernel now (4.0.3), not difficult to install, and now most of the STOCK issues are gone...
Great game but pointless without saves! Everytime I quit it force closes and next time I fire it up, all progress is gone. I've been suggested to just back out but that's what I'm doing, I'm not using home. I hit back as far as it let's me then it won't let me go any furthe, it asks me if I want to quit, I say yes, and force close and my save is gone.
Anybody got a solution?

Same
But...real racing 3 comes out soon and it looks...well,real.

Same thing here. However at some point I must have done something to get the data stored, since when I restart I'm half way through the first set of races. Only problem is I don't know what I did to force it to update a profile save.
Pity EA haven't fixed it.
this happened to me after i cleared save data ingame...not sure if all these steps are necessary, but heres what i did to fix mine:
-force stopped
-cleared data & cache
-deleted sdcard/Android/data/com.ea.game.realracing2_OTD_na/
-restarted & redownloaded additional files
hope this helps!
I just cleared the cache, and I still see it, but not as frequently. Will probably do the full wipe and reinstall to try and fix it for good.
Sucks when you've accomplished a lot. lol
That's sucks hopefully doesn't hit me been playing since saturday

Mine works great

I'm having the same issue. Only occurs on CM10. Phone- Verizon GS3
The Fix
The solution was on the comments of the play store listing. Simply, when the error window pops up at the end DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. After a few seconds it disappears and when you reenter the game you'll find your profile has updated (during that period whilst the error window was up). Not sure why they can't just fix it, but that's EA for you.
Up to third tournament with some light gaming.
I reinstalled it and re downloaded data now it saves fine

I'm on CNA 3.6.6 and I am getting a force close every time I open Pandora. It started out force closing the first time I opened it and then working the second time. I cleared the app data and it worked great but the next day it started force closing every time. I'm not sure if it's a rom problem or just with Pandora. Anyone else seeing this?

I think it has to do with a certain ad that Pandora tries to load. I get the same error. If I press OK to the force close and repeat a couple times, it usually works, after skipping the ad(I think its for some dumb game) and moves back to the (usually) zynga ad.
Of course, I'm not rooted, so I don't have AdAway/AdBlock, which may help.

Yes, that makes sense. That would explain the random way it works one say and not others, and it always closes when the first ad loads. Thanks. I may give an ad blocker a try.

I thought I would do a quick report back. I downloaded ad away and Pandora started right up! Thanks again for the suggestion.

Every time I turn my wifi on and my phone connects to wifi, my phone lags to the point where it just freezes or the screen won't turn on when I press the power button later. I have to wait like 15-25 minutes for my phone to do all it's wifi business like updating apps before it stops lagging. It's so annoying. IS there anything I can do?
If it wasn't for the extra 3 "o"s we'd never have understood what's going on.
It has nothing to do with wifi and everything to do with "it's wifi business". Either update apps on your own so it doesn't have to or kill the play store every time it starts.
Yeah I'd say disable auto update in play store. I don't understand how you have so many apps needing auto update...

Def turn off auto update in play store ...but with that said...I've noticed certain kernels handle play store updates "a little better" still lag but no freezing.

Do you know what their default io scheduler and read ahead are? They would be the main factor to reduce app update/install lag.

Yup^^^^ kernel settings will also play a part ...

Bro we have the exact same situation when i turn on wifi i get lag even if auto update is of.. i think this became lag because of merging the dalvik cache, data and app to the sd-ext2 and creating a link those things back to the data.. if you also did like mine..
It usually only happens when playing a bigger game like Real Racing 3 or Heroes of Order & Chaos. The screen will stop receiving any input for a second or two, then be fine. It's happened since I was unrooted on stock, and on every ROM since after I rooted, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with that. Is it a hardware problem or a security thing or what?

Then it isn't random. Your phone is either overheating to the point of forcing a reboot or running out of ram and triggering a reboot.
You mean a screen reboot? Overheating is actually probably causing it. It doesn't reboot the phone or anything, I just am unable to use the screen for a second. I'll try to keep the phone cool now.
