I unistalled camera.apk because i wanted the camera mod http://goo.gl/MpxDL
Everything went well but then when i tried to actually installed the hacked camera it didnt work it said..."Application not installed"... for some reason i dont know why.
Now i dont even have a stock Camera
you should copy the camera.apk to /system/app/ through root explorer, and then change the permission, and reboot.
if you try install it with regular apk installation method, of course it won't work and won't be installed....

Comparing to my phone (I8150), it should be as follows:
Read Write Execute
Owner [x] [x] [ ]
Group [x] [ ] [ ]
Others [x] [ ] [ ]
[x] means checked, [ ] means unchecked.
The special permissions are fine.

change permission just like lonebullet said
yes, if your rom is odexed, you should delete the camera.odex too, because the hacked camera.apk is deodexed apk...
But everything is fine but nothing happens . I've done everything that's needs to be done but nothing changes. :banghead::banghead:

Hi, yesterday I removed a whole load of junk apps thanks to this thread, but I now have a problem and need help with it.
I decided to move 'SemcGallery3D.apk' and 'SemcCamera3D.apk' to the SD card because I didn't want the 3D option, but then afterwards the panorama and 3D panorama don't work also the whole gallery application doesn't work (not just the 3D gallery). I moved the two files back to the system/app folder, but it still doesn't work, is there another step involved in restoring these?
thanks
hold on the app until the dialog box come out, click permissions, check all the read/write/execute box , see if this help

Actually I just checked and the two apps in question aren't rw-r-r, but rwxr-x. So I am guessing that's the problem? I'm still new to all this, so how to I change them back to rw-r-r? Is it to do with how the folder is mounted r/w R/O etc.? Can you explain what's the difference, thanks

use Root explorer (Needs Root) copy the file to the folder, there is a button on the top right side to mount it as RW (re-writable) from RO (Read Only), if you long press on the file, a popup menu will open, from there select permissions, and set it in this order:
R W -
R - -
R - -

System files/apps without the correct permissions will not work, and may even result in bootloops.
Okay thanks, I did this and when I restarted the phone it worked again
Hi all, I came across this interesting image. It's a GIF and I thought it would look great as a bootscreen animation. I would do it myself, but I'm not exactly savvy with this and I'd rather not cause trouble with my phone. So, if anyone would graciously accept my request, I'd be quite grateful.

Or open root explorer, navigate to to the zip file, press and hold, tap permissions and set to rw, r, r

i have tried the fiddy method of gaining root access, and even though the terminal bat file tells me "root succesful" i have no root access. so i search through the forum, and there is a lot of version difference that seems to confuse me a bit.
i am hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.
my phone is international/EUR no att or sprint or any of that american phone company scam stuff.

I have Tried this on my Xperia S LT26i Working
LOCKED Boatloader
Rooted
6.2.b.1.96 jb 4.1.2
[ download ]
CWM6-cDM_v2.2-DooMLoRD-Xperia_S-JB
DOWNLOAD ABOVE FILE AND AFTER DOWNLOAD EXTRACT IT WITH 7ZIP OR WINRAR
IN THAT FILE GO TO FILES FOLDER
THERE ARE SEVERAL FILES IN THAT BUT WE NEED ONLY chargemon , cwm-install.sh , recovery.tar
copy these 3 files (chargemon , cwm-install.sh , recovery.tar ) to SD CARD
and PASTE to
[for this you need to Root your Xperia S]
PASTE TO system/bin ------->> chargemon AND recovery.tar
COPY TO system/etc ------->> cwm-install.sh
and Power OFF
[ how to enter recovery? ]
once recovery is installed keep pressing VOLUME UP key when u see SONY logo!

ya well said its will easy for new commers
or just put chargemon, tar archive, .sh file and busybox in data/local/tmp (i dont know it is important where we place it, but this localization is in PC install script) and when we paste files - just run .sh file. thats all.
IMP thing of Recovery
Whenever you Format /system in recovery Dont Close Recovery(Reboot or TURN OFF)
INSTALL STOCK or CUSTOM ROMS AFTER THAT OR RETORE IT (WITH YOUR BACKUP)
BECAUSE AFTER FORMAT THERE IS NO OS IN YOU DEVICE YOUR MOBILE WILL STUCK ON SONY LOGO ..
IF YOU CAN CONNECT XPERIA S WITH PC ITS WILL EASLY TO YOU .. YOU CAN FLASH
BUT THOSE WHO CAN'T CONNECT TO PC [USB NOT RECONISED, UNKNOWN DEVICE] THEY HAVE TO GO TO REPAIR SO PLZ DON'T TO IT
SO BE ALERT ...!!!!!!!!!
