have no idea what error you are talking about.
Can you get into download mode?
Pull battery for a full five earth minutes.
Put it back and then hold power on plus the volume down button, then volume up to go into download mode.
Here is where you should go too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
everything you need is here if you are able to get to download mode.
[Also make sure you check the md5 sig on any file you download to make sure you've gotten the whole thing.]
If not warranty, jtag or you've got an expensive paperweight.

[MOD] T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II Stock Recovery

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II Stock Recovery
Some of you have been asking me for the stock recovery, and after a few minutes with Gillbostonian on IRC, I finally got it pulled.
Explination
What we have here is a stock recovery.img pulled from a stock T-Mobile SGH-T989 (Samsung Galaxy S II).
With this you can recover your phone using ODIN, to return it to a factory state.
Downloads
To restore the stock recovery to your phone I have a nice little tar file that will take care of the job for you that you can grab from here.
If you like my work..
and wish to donate you can buy me my very own T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II by using the details posted here.
How to Flash
We are going to be using Odin in this explanation to flash the stock kernel to your phone.
Downloads
First you are going to want to start by downloading all the needed files onto your computer and then place them onto your Desktop.
Samsung Kies
Odin3-v1.85.zip
SGH-T989-Stock-Recovery.tar
Process
Once you have everything downloaded and on your desktop, you are going to want to first install kies.
After this is done you should restart your computer for proper driver installation.
Next, extract Odin to a new folder on your Desktop. Leave the tar in the form it is.
Now, open up Odin by double clicking the .exe in the folder you extracted it to.
The most important step is now, you need to put your device into Download/ODIN mode so your computer will recognize it and be able to flash to it. To do this simply turn your phone off completely (or pull the battery). Then you are going to want to use the following button combination to force your device into download mode:
Hold the volume up/down and power button all at the same time.
Click to collapse
Now ODIN should have recognized your device ( it may take a while for the drivers to complete installation so don't panic the first time).
Lastly, we want to click on the PDA button and then search for the SGH-T989-Stock-Recovery.tar we download earlier and placed on the Desktop.
If all of the above has taken place you are free to hit the Start button.
Rebooting into Recovery
Rebooting into recovery is almost just as easy, but a little less complicated.
Just turn your phone off all the way and boot into recovery by holding down vol up and vol down, pressing power until it vibrates, and letting go of power but at the same time keeping the vol buttons down. (or just by using Rom Manager from the Market.)
Click to collapse
Done!
If all has gone well at this point the flash should be proven successful and your phone should reboot like normal.
If so, please feel pressured to give yourself a pat on the back, that was tough!
Thank you!

^ Gil - thanks for your help as well as without your device we wouldn't have stock recovery tonight!
No problem man!! It's my pleasure I'm glad that my device has been big help to all of us. we got the stock recovery and now we will get the stock Tmobile full rom for odin in couple hrs..Thanks to Bubby again
Thanks, Bubby. Quite a few of us on the forum have been waiting for this path back to stock before rooting our phones. Your efforts are appreciated!
With out bubby and Gill We wouldnt have this!! Ty again bubby! i will be donating to ur phone once i get paid and i hope everyone else does after this great task u have done for the community!!
Does this also flash the stock Kernel, or do we have to flash UVKID's odin then this odin?
I assume we have to flash UV's odin first, but I just want to be clear.
So just to clarify, after completing this what should you see when you do the both volume buttons and then power button (without USB plugged in)? Is an update from sd card/wipe data screen the stock recovery our phone ships with?
I wanted to see if someone could tell me the series of steps to get this and the kernel loaded.
Do you do this in odin first, and then flash the kernel to get back to stock? Just curious on what it done first, second, third. The directions on the OP are good but I don't know how to get everything to come together.

I don't think it quite matters what you do first or second. I did it in the reverse order. Matter of fact I loaded an old nandroid backup I had made before and then did this. No cwm and no root anymore. This is only what I did though, I can't say it's the correct way. All I can say is everything works for me with these steps (maybe I screwed something up big time who knows).
ODIN BACK TO STOCK!
power off phone
pull out battery
GRAB THIS STUFF :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319830
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper tar file in pit in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers

Galaxy note 2 WONT BOOT!!!

Really need some assistance here if someone could please help. I downloaded chainfire 3d, because i read it would speed up my game lag/speed. After install, it asked for a reboot....my phone hasnt been able to boot now, it has been stuck on the logo screen. I can get into recovery mode, i did a reset and formatted everything (which i REALLY didnt want to do), but i need my phone on asap. After all that, nothing has worked after reboot. Still stuck on logo screen, someone please give me any ideas to get this back on its really upsetting Thanks a lot, really hope someone has some ideas.

If you can still get into Download Mode you can always flash the stock rom back using the Odin tool on your PC. Use the procedure below to get into download mode:
Entering download mode is very simple. First you will need to turn off your device. Once it’s off, you need to press this button combination: volume down, power button and home button. Keep them pressed until the download mode shows up. Once you’re there, you will be requires to press volume up to enter the download mode or volume down to cancel and reboot the device.
Then follow these instructions:
If u have a custom recovery there's always this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
And sadly yes cf3d does not work on any device with touchwiz jellybean
What I did in that situation is first download a stock deodexed rom.
Then connect your phone with your pc and open the Odin program on your computer.
(may or may not have to install Kies)
Then flash the deodexed rom to your phone.

Take the battery out, hold volume down, home, power, and plug into a computer, it should go into download mode. Flash the STOCK Image file. You need to go completely back to stock.

Take the battery out, hold volume up, home, power put battery in this will get you to e3 recovery( stock) try to restore to factory and see what happend. BTW if you get to download mode try to restore to stock by Kies not by Odin. This way you will get everything orginal included kernel and modem.

PLEASE HELP!! Did I just brick my brand new SIII

Ok I was following this root toolkit step by step..... everything seemed to be going smoothly, I was flashing Odin and when the phone powered off to reboot, nothing happened. It did not reboot and on the toolkit page it just says ``waiting for device to be detected``.... but nothing. I tried to power up the phone manually and nothing...for a split second an image of a completely drained battery with a ``loading circle`` in the center of the battery, but then it disappears and still nothing but a dead phone. I tried to boot the phone up holding the home button, volume down and power and a warning message comes up saying....
Warning: A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel and restart phone``
I tried the volume down and `` SAMSUNG`` appears for a split second then dead again.
Can somebody PLEASE help me....... Im so stupid...Ive had this brand new phone for less than 12 hours!! Thank you all in advance and I hope to hear from anyone. .
This is the toolkit I used was Samsung Galaxy Root Toolkit V3.0....SGS3 Snapdragon Toolkit V1.0
At the end of the steps it stated xda was the source so I figured it was legit.
Jeff
how long did you wait for the phone to reboot?
if you can get to the warning about the custom os again, that's a good sign. when you do that, press volume up and use odin to load a stock rooted rom and you should be fine.

If you can still get into download mode (big yellow triangle) and ODIN will recognize you phone, you can get everything you need from this forum thread to root it and then install TWRP or CWM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
If you would prefer to just get back to stock for today, you can get what you need here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625
Do not deviate from these two threads. Everything you need is contained within the first post of each of those threads.
Make sure you get the correct files for your phone (AT&T, Bell, Rogers etc.) It actually doesn't really matter as long as they are files for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 or I747 model. For the sake of making it easy on you, use the Rogers files as you are in Canada on the Rogers/Fido network.
I know you are in panic mode but seriously, take your time and READ the posts about how to do it. Rushing anything in this game can easily screw your phone up for good as you have already experienced first hand.
If you cannot get your phone to go into full download mode and have ODIN on your PC connect to your phone, you have it borked it up beyond easy everyday repair.

I am not in your position, so please don't blame if it gets worse, but I've done several flashes so I am going to explain what would I do.
Go into the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
and download this and follow the instructions there
Rogers Image
Current I747MVLDLK4 (JB 4.1.1)
Mirror 1: Download root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4.7z
Second,
Extract the root66_xxx_.tar.md5 from the .7z file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put phone into download mode [with phone off, hold vol. down + home + power ], connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the root66_xxx_.tar.md5 you downloaded.
Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked.
click start and
when done let phone reboot.
If you have issues flashing with Odin please ensure you are using the microusb cable that came with the phone, users have had issues using other cables.
If you just want a stock, rooted phone with no custom recovery, no plans to flash custom roms, etc. then you can stop HERE.
those instructions are very clear as to what to do, but if you don't understand one let me know and I will try to explain it
edit: this video might be easier to follow on how to get odin working http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-xda-developer-tv/

Ok, I also need to know if it is the 16gb model or the 32gb.
And what exactly happened? What were you doing when it stopped working? You say it only boots to download mode now? And if you remove the battery, then replace it and press the power button, it automatically goes into download mode? Is this correct?
Were you rooted and did you have a cusom rom installed? CWM or TWRP recovery?
Sorry for all the questions, but I just want to make sure it cant be solved without a pit file. I have it for the 16gb version, but never had to use it yet. If I can avoid it, I will.

Actually i tried to install custom rom that time it happend. Now if i tried to install official firmware with odin it's says the attached image error.
If i remove the battery & press power button then it's goes to download mode. It's 16GB
Ok, and when you click PDA and select the firmware to flash, it should go through a md5 check. Does it pass this? It should display in the lower left pane of Odin.
Try this just to be sure. Pull the battery, then replace it again. Now try to boot into recovery. Hold Volume Up + Home + Power. When you see the blue text flash at the top of the screen release the buttons.
I know you probably know all this already, but just in case.....
Last question, which rom was it you were trying to flash?
Ill go ahead and get the pit file uploaded for you and let you know what to do once its done.

Ok, sorry it took longer than I expected to get back to you.
Here is the pit file you need.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23032113221600444
I suggest verifying the md5 on the download page matches the md5 of the actual file you download. This will verify it is or is not corrupted.
This is how to use it (as far as I know). I suggest using Odin 3.07
Open Odin and check Re-Partition, dont uncheck Auto Reboot or F-reset time
Click the PIT button under the RePartition heading, then browse to the pit file you just downloaded and select it.
Click the PDA button and choose the firmware you want to flash.
Click Start.
Please keep a few things in mind. This is considered a potentially dangerous operation. It can Hard Brick your phone just as easily as it can restore it to working condition.
I have never actually done this myself, and information on the process is quite lacking imo.
I have no problem if you want to wait and see if someone can verify that I am giving you the correct directions!!! I would actually recommend it!
And it goes without saying, but you are doing this at your own risk!
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask.
---------- Post added at 04:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 AM ----------
If you want to wait for someone to confirm, try to give it until at least mid-afternoon. Mid-evening is best if you can. There are some extremely smart folks here, but the forum can be very slow lately. There are a few others who do log on everyday to help people out, and if they know about this particular operation, I am confident they will reply. Especially if I got something wrong!
You would probably hear something earlier, but I cant promise because this is something rarely dealt with. Just dont want you to be up for hours hitting refresh!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
Please dont forget to post your results, good or bad or nothing. It can help a lot in case it comes up again in the future.
Did you try this? Or decide to wait and get confirmation?
Anyone know for sure if the steps I gave are correct?

Ok, I am typing up something else for you to try, but from here on, I need you to give a lot more info if I'm going to be able to even try to help. This doesn't give me anything to go on. A copy/paste of what was output in Odin would be a great start!
Please go ahead and post this info.

Please check the attached image, that's what i faced during flashing with odin with the pit file u gave me. But not working. Please help me, i know u can.
Cant believe no one else had anything to add all day!
Ok, first download the firmware from my file host. Sammobile and Samsung-Updates, while great to have, only use hotfile which is extraordinarily slow and imo, prone to download corruption.
UVDMD5 Official Firmware - http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22946563261204064
Also download this stock, Odin flashable kernel and recovery I just put together for you.
UVDMD5 Stock Kernel - http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23032113221600621
UVDMD5 Stock Recovery - http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23032113221600629
Also, check the md5sum of every file you download. If you do not know how go download this free program -> Hashtab
Install it and then you can right-click and choose properties on any file, and you will see a tab called File Hashes. In this tab it will tell you what the md5 of that file is. Copy the md5 shown on the originating download page, then paste it in the box in the File Hashes tab. It will automatically compare the two. If they match you are good to go. If not the file was corrupted during download and needs to be re-downloaded.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Ok, now, first a couple of questions. When you open Odin, with the phone plugged in, does it say COM# in the upper left box?
Did you use Odin version 3.07 as I suggested?
In your screenshot in the OP you were using 3.04. If not, download version 3.07 from the link in my sig and try again with my previous instructions. If it fails this time, copy/paste the Odin output and post it here.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
If you have done everything so far and still are in the same position, here is the next thing to try.
If at anytime a procedure fails, copy the output and paste it in a post here for me.
Open Odin 3.07
UNCHECK Auto-Reboot and F-Reset Time
CHECK Re-Partition
Click the PIT button under the Re-Partition heading and browse to and select the .pit file you downloaded earlier.
Make absolutely sure that Auto Reboot and F Reset Time are NOT checked!!!!
Click Start
Once complete (verify output says Succeed 1/Fail 0) Flash the stock firmware......
DO NOT REBOOT, DISCONNECT, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE TO THE PHONE.
Still in Odin 3.07
UNCHECK Re-Partition
CHECK Auto-Reboot and F-Reset Time
Click the PDA button and browse to and select the UVDMD5 firmware you downloaded.
Double check that Re-Partition is NOT checked!!!
Click Start
Hopefully this will prove to be the solution! Report back at this point please.
I have a few things I have to take care of, so hopefully you will be done when I get back. But if not I will post the next things to try with the recovery and kernel anyway, just in case it does continue to fail.
Good Luck!
OK, In case the last things I gave you to try, you can try this.
If flashing the PIT file succeeded by itself, you shouldnt have to flash that again. I will write these instructions assuming that part worked. But flashing the stock firmware did not.
Download this custom Recovery (TWRP 2.5.0.0)
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22964708692722240
While in Odin 3.07
Make sure ONLY F-Reset Time is checked
Click the PDA button and browse to and select the Stock MD5 Kernel you downloaded.
Click Start
If it succeeds try flashing the Stock Firmware by itself, following the instructions from before.
If it still fails, Go ahead and download a stock rom such as this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2276645
(any stock based rom would do)
Now flash the TWRP Recovery you downloaded.
Make sure F-Reset Time and Auto-Reboot are checked.
Click the PDA button and browse to and select the TWRP Recovery you downloaded.
Click Start
If this succeeds, it will automatically reboot. It may go to download mode, recovery or hang at boot. If it does anything but boot to recovery, press and hold the power button until it shuts off. Then immediately repress and hold Power + Volume UP + and Home. When you see the blue text flash at the top release the buttons and it should boot to recovery. Now from here, try to flash the Stock Based ROM you downloaded. Once done, Reboot.:fingers-crossed:
After all of this, I am out of ideas. If you are still unable to get your phone to work, you may need to contact someone about a potential jtag repair. If I think of anything else you can try, I will of course let you know.
I am still hoping someone else will jump in to at least let us know if I directed you correctly!!! Hint Hint everyone!!!
