Custom rom off LG ICS - LG Nitro HD

Is it possible to create a custom rom based off of LG's ICS. I have tried a few things but I end up with security error everytime I try to edit the rom. The reason I ask is because the LG rom seem much more fluid and smooth than CM9. One of the reasons I want to do this is to get rid of the annoying scrolling carrier logo on the notification bar. Anyone know how to do this?
Dave,

Maybe you should just wait for the real release that will come in a couple of week every one will do rom from that (for sure I will)

Sounds good. What are you planning to do to the rom when you get the full ics release?

Need to make full deoxide and root ..I'm waiting too

Are you planning to make it more "stock" ics?

Isn't that what CM9 is for?

I suppose so, Its just that CM9 is sluggish compared to the LG ics.

Then you get no custom lock screen.
I'm in the same boat you are. I rooted my phone, but at least for the time being, I don't want to use a custom ROM. With that choice comes sacrifices. I'll likely never get a % battery mod or a custom lock screen. Life is full of choices.

then you give up the custom lockscreen without using a third party app.
im trying to root my optimus v but i just made an account and can't post in the thread i want because i need 10 posts.
for me stability of my phone is very important and custom rom doesn't really give me that feeling just yet, there is always something issues going on...
back in the days the reason why i went w/ cm7 vs stock rom is because it was cleaner, now that I have ICS its pretty clean as it comes, developer puts in his own tweaks what he feels is important (may not be important to me) and with that comes some unstable/untested code which i'm not ready to do beta testing
so i'm fine w/ stock rom and i'm loving it, of course someone may not think this way and want to go w/ cm9 nightly or some other custom rom its up to this person (who am I to tell otherwise)
i just wanted to know if maybe i missed something and it can be done with stock rom, but apparently thats not the case (or at least doesn't seems so)
I think you might want to try out one of the custom roms first. I thought that too. But these roms seem to be a whole different level of professionally coded compared to the cm7 days. Aokp to start with, then expand if necessary to paradigm etc. I think you'll be surprised, you're getting stock stability with extras.

Any Vanilla ICS ROMs Coming?

Does anyone know if any devs are planning to release a a vanilla ICS rom for the Tmobile T989 now that ICS is here/almost here?
I really would like to get a non-TW experience.

Thanks for the repsonse.
Any idea who'd be fastest or what the turnaround time would be with adopting the Sammy ICS drivers? I know a stock rooted Rom usually drops fast but I haven't kept up with CM so I don't know where they're headed with the T989. I tried out one ICS ROM that worked well but the two snags (lag and vmail problems) I had were pretty major and had to go back to stock rooted.

That wouldn't be too bad I guess since I'd get wifi calling and still could remove bloat. CIQ would still be there though. Wouldn't that need Apex or another 3rd party launcher instead of the stock ICS version?
What I really want is a pure Nexus style vanilla ICS ROM. That may not be available until the source comes out. I was thinking devs could get at Samsung's ICS drivers and processes that make it more stable but that may take awhile.

Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
That has got to be one of the most poorly written questions I've ever seen. With a mastery of English like that (did you mean "easiest" when you said "easys"???), how on earth do you hold a job that allows you to afford a smartphone? Holy crap. That seriously makes me sick. What's wrong with our schools...
And it's not even a real question... 'best' isn't an "at everything" thing, or there would only be one ROM, because the rest would all be 'worse'. You need a specific question if you are looking for any kind of meaningful answer.
I'm sad to say I'm interested in the answers to this topic, which is why I read it myself... let me try wording it better so that you don't simply get pummeled by people making fun of you:

Note the Sprint leaks are Touchwiz - should indicate a JB OTA update coming soon if you didn't want to install one custom. The latest ROMS are pretty clean - cleaner than the ICS final release leak for the Epic 4G Touch was, so that may be forthcoming soon.

Making more roms, what do you want?

Hey guys im going to take the zv8 rom and make a modified version. I would like to know what you want. So far the main ones I think are taking out as much LG as possible and use google apps to get us a stable almost AOSP feel, or adding all the tweaks we have already and just making stock faster and better and some tweaks. I might also take an LG free modified stock and start putting parts of HTC sense 4+ onto it. Also if anyone wants to test you can post here. I will let five ppl test my roms before they're out and tell me what you think.
edit: the rom is found here, and I will be making a new thread since this for that rom specifically. contact me at [email protected] for any future requests.
I'll test! I think I may be the only one who likes the stock LG feel over AOSP.
EDIT: Looks like the people don't want much.. Haha.
Thanks, I just wonder why you don't do ZV9. It is out. The source is released. No point in building something for it to get updated in a week.
Also, I would have a special place for you in my heart if you could port some Korean firmware.
Other than that. I like everything. What ever you do will be great.

+1 on this with tweaks and bloat removed... thanks
Thirding that JB firmware from Korea lol. Would love to get 4.1/4.2 features.
I fourth the call for Korean jellybean their isn't much you can do to zv8 and if you wan to work on our builds I would work out zv9 because building roms off of zv8 just feels like a waste of time. And how much can you debloat this build their really isn't any.
I would love to test for you.

I'll test. Just pm me whenever you need.
As far as features, nothing big would like an extended power off menu so we can boot straight to recovery. Also maybe a roam only option. Circle battery with percentage inside. Disable camera shutter sound.

I'd like to see the striped lg rom to look and feel like aosp, like how the HTC phones have a De sense version of their roms.

Preferably a 4.2.1 AOSP/CM10.1, but I know the devs in #lg-optimus-g on freenode are working on it.
I would love to see an deodexed, rooted, debloated ZV9 rom. I know that the ZV9 can be rooted, but the root method hasn't been made public. Don't think B1N4RY's method works for it.

My ideas I think aren't really what others want, but I'd love to have an MIUI-eqsue ROM. Something with a light or white holo theme.
Maybe a mini tablet mode.

I'll be happy to test

It would also be nice to have _Epic's camera mods on it too. I noticed the difference right away.
Please, no sense! it suxx!!!!!
i want only 2 mods:
1. add photosphere (without deleting stock camera)
2. add to fast switches the file-networking switch.
I say do the stock with speed mods ands camera mods. Cam definitely needs some work, if possible make the sense music app, widget, available even as a flash able script if it doesn't make the vote. Had it on my evo lte and seems like HTC knew what they were doing. Add me as a tester if a spots still open. We really needs some development on this phone.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm definitely checking this out when I wake up, downloaded and ready to go! But just curious, also yes that is toro ported and works just fine.
Edit: Fantastic ROM, has done stuff I've wanted for months.. and that's where it ends. I honestly will not use this ROM until it changes base. AOKP is the worst, that's my opinion but you got yourself a fantastic ROM here. If these apps and various other apks aren't framework dependent then I'll use some in a different ROM.
Again amazing ROM, you have done what I've been trying to do for months and namely the walkman widget is one. I hope you change the base.

It is great, but a little laggy. Will it get faster in the future? As well as this, the themes do not work. Any way to fix this? I am not trying to be mean, and by NO means am I a developer. I am amazed how you got this to work, and just want to help.
EDIT: The lag fixed itself, I dont know what happened. That is fine. Only problem is It wont reboot after first successful boot. It probably is Android Tweaker Pro. It is a great app, but also caused my stock rom to randomly reboot.

To answer a few of your questions. (Im updating thread now to)
1. I do plan on updating to 4.2 just need to update the code a bit and wait for the lockscreen to get ported.
2. Yes its based on AOKP 4.1.2
3. My rom is different because im going to take the time to keep it updated with anything new and im always constantly working on new ports to add to it. Its also more featureful, and its going to support toro and toroplus as soon as i get 4.2 working.
4. WHY YOU HATE AOKP SO MUCH? JK im using any base that i find most stable, im pretty sure im going to switch it for the 4.2 update since AOKP is constantly releasing updates for it and it will be hard to keep up with it.
5. Lag? I really have not noticed any lag besides the Xperia live wallpaper, thats sony's fault for not optimizing the app properly.
This ROM is running great. Loaded lean kernels latest stable 4.8 and all is good. A nice break from AOSP.

Oh, I've never heard of this then lol
The AOKP hate, its opinion but on both devices I've owned they been just so horrible and cheesy.. I don't like that swag button. The features are lacking. Honestly I'm on a stable base of 4.2.2, using Orca. The features are just amazing. I'm guessing because I tried the apks is that a lot of this framework doesn't really work for 4.2.2? I mean this is basically an Xperia ROM. I'm really impressed, I'm really hoping we can eventually get an actual port but I doubt it.
Secretly "I want a W8 port" love the style they use. Call me whacky lol.. But this is awesome you've made a breakthrough, or well your the only person who technically cares to do something like this. So I appreciate it this a lot man.
Edit: 4.1 doesn't bother me, we basically miss out on the status bar features. Just the base.

Just a quick note of congratulations and thanks, +Hyperrunner. I've been with Android since the first G1s were shipped, and this port reminds me of all the really inventive, well-done ports that we saw for the G1 back when other devices and models began to appear. I've been waiting for a really cool port to put on the GNex (which has had excellent but slightly bland firmware as stock from the beginning), and this Xperia port of yours really hits the spot. I think the AOKP base was a great choice. If it plays well with Linux Deploy and continues to be stable, this will become my primary ROM. Thanks a bunch, you deserve donations for your contribution to the Android community!
Thank you this ROM is pretty sweet love the look. Nice to have something other than stock for once
