Hello, i'm new to this forum and must say that there is an incredible amount of information here. I rooted my Incredible a few weeks ago because I wanted to use wifi tethering. When the 2.2 OTA update started going out, I returned my phone to factory settings because I heard clockwork mod was messing with the update. I still have not recieved the 2.2 OTA, and i'm wondering if this is due to having build number 1.22.605.0 until today. I read in a thread that to do the manual method you need to update to 1.22.605.2.
Is there any difference between manually updating to 2.2 and recieving the OTA?
Now that i've updated my build to 1.22.605.2 should I just wait until I get the OTA?
Can anyone confirm Condition 7 in this thread working?: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771178
If I only want wifi tethering, should I really root my phone?
The only thing I can answer is your last question. In order to use wifi tether(not Verizons version) you must be rooted.

If you only want wifi tethering - you do have another choice. Change the duns. So far I have not heard of anybody that has been caught doing that but it could be costly if the network provider figured it out,
Hey peeps any help here would be fantastic.
My wifes HTC Dedire keeps dropping calls and loosing network signal at random times, this has only started recently no reason for this starting ie Droping/Spillage, She's on O2 its not due to area as been up and down the country with same issue.
Firmware version 2.1-update 1
Cant update to 2.2 as phone says phone is up to date.
Any hints or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
I'm sure there is a 2.2 update for O2 phones floating around somewhere or and RUU. Use that and see if it updates your radio. That might help.
Thanks for the reply, I've searched high and low for the 2.2 update to no avail, what's this rru? The OTA update isn't working as it's says the phone us up to date already, there's got to be another way to update surely?? Thanks again for your help.
The leaked ODIN package is 2.3.6. But numerous news said the update is 2.3.5. People have been having doubts whether the ODIN package is "official" or not.
So whoever updated through the "official" channels (Kies, OTA), could you please confirm whether you got a 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?
I updated through Kies.
I updated through odin. Its official as it gets.

So now Im wondering if those that got the OTA are on 2.3.5? How could it be possible that there are 2 different updates?

Doesn't surprise me..
Everytime I go into my local T-Mo store, I always end up educating them on a thing or two
It's pretty funny actually. They always look at me like I'm some super-geek freak of nature
Come to my store lol

Kies Update lost Root
Called TMobile and they sent me an update Kies file to install on my PC to have wifi calling enabled. They turned it on at their servers, so I would be enabled, but I told them I was not running stock rom so they sent an update. Installed the update. PC ran and said new firmware upgrade for my phone. It stated Ver 11.12.16.02 during the install.
Anyways, I now have the WiFi calling familiar icon top left notification area, but root is lost. Just want to know if anyone else has the WiFi calling enabled or not without issues. This is or was on Juggernaut 3.7. Can't boot to recovery now. I will wait to hear back from others.
You are brave for tellig them you rooted your phobe. Yes it removes root and gives you stock recovery. Youll have to reroot and install custom recovery again.

Updated through Kies and I have 2.3.6
Do I really need it?
I just finished setting up my phone just right and now this update comes along. Used titanium BU to freeze device manager to stop the update. I used to have wifi calling on my Nexus 1 but I never used it. Is there any other reason why I shouldn't skip this update?

The new baseband does improve my data speed, before 8- 10 mbps, now 15 - 18 mbps. Home button responses quicker, no more accidentally launch voice search. Overall the ROM is more snappy than before. I still try to see if improve the battery life.

Is there anyway to update without losing root? Can the 2.3.6 ota update still be routed?

Too many users worry they will not have any support if their phones are rooted. I have a rooted Nexus one. It had bad hardware Nand. Bad memory blocks in my system and Data and cache partitions. I sent it back rooted, but with stock ROM stuff, to HTC. HTC RMA's my rooted phone. They have to show cause and effect that rooting did any damage etc. TMobile techs were nice. They were happy to send me the info to grab this stuff manually. And by stating I was rooted, that pushed me up the chain to higher level tech support instead of dealing with robots reading scripts, telling you to reboot your phone, or to try such and such etc.

I actually had 18.2 with Speedtest this morning using Beastmod 4.1, before I ran into my manually upgrading the firmware and losing root. All is fine now with a 5 minute re-root process using Odin and PDA option with CWM. Not a big deal but yes, using those XDA individual files could have save me some grief on this
So depending on how good of a signal you have, and the ROM itself, I did show fantastic PRE-Updateing the firmware. These were consistent 15.5-18.2 reading BTW, here in Downtown Las Vegas this morning. Not just a one time anomaly.
2.3.6 via kies working well.
Hi, I already google it, and i found some solutions for the s3 t999 after the 4.3 update, however i cannot find any solution for the "call fail" when dialing a number, the only fix is to turn off and on again, I still dont know if the problem is related to the 4.3 official.
Never root the phone.
I would appreciate if anyone has a solution to this problem.
thanks.
Its a 4.3 bug, doesn't matter if you're rooted or not, or if you did the official update or updated through a custom rom, I'm thinking it should be fixed once kitkat is pushed out, or maybe with a small update from T-Mobile before then.. for the time being you can also toggle airplane mode on and off, it also works

AT&T LG Optimus G Pro (LG e980), Android 4.4.2, Kernel 3.4.0, Build KOT491.E98020h,. History: bought stock phone with Android version 4.1.2.. At&t ota upgrade forced version 4.4.2. I rooted phone with toweroot. Problem: I'm going to unroot phone and install lollypop, then reroot. If I don't like android version 5, I'll unroot and flash v4.1.2. Then reroot. How can i prevent the at&t over the air from happening between the time i finish flashing 4.1.2 and when i reroot. At&t ota is persistent and immediate. THANX
You could turn off your WiFi router at home and then it couldn't download the update. Or maybe pulling the SIM card would prevent it.
These are my initial thoughts, but someone else may have some other ideas.

disconnect router or pull sim
Thanx for the reply. I'll try that when I'm up to speed on flashing LGE980-01-V10G-310-410-APR-03-2013+0.tot
