I'm living in Japan and using Softbank as carrier.
I got the One X international version (from Plemix Hong Kong), and I installed the ARHD after rooting my device (Also I tried several custom ROMs).
The problem is there is no 3G connection anyhow, when I switch to 3G it always says disconnected..!!
previously, I have had my HTC Desire HD, and it is working well in 3G and the data transfer is good.
- I'm using the same SIM card (after I cut it to micro one) from Desire HD to One X.
- In both devices the APN settings are the same.
- When I put back the SIM card to my Desire HD, it works very well..!!
So, somebody help me and tell me where is the problem.
Sorry for long message and wish to find a solution..!!
I got the same on my One X. My carrier is Tele2 ans they claim that their network is down due rebuilding, which is not true. Somehow I regret that I took this phone at them.
They will send a new SIM to see if that helps. Otherwise a reparation is needed.

Have you made sure you have the right radio? Not sure what your should be, but you get them here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689679
Guessing it should be Radio_1.1204.103.14 (Asia Pasific)
Long-shot: Not sure if this will help, but whenever my phone occasionally refuses to reconnect to 3G I toggle the settings in the Phone Information Menu from WCDMA Preferred to CDMA Auto (PRL)
After a few seconds the phone automatically jumps back to WCDMA Preferred and it can then reconnect the 3G network. Sometimes toggling airplane mode doesn't do it.
Does 3G on the One X work when stock on SoftBank? I'm considering buying this phone from Expansys and using it on SoftBank's network.

Hi Guys,
I'm running 2.2 froyo DJ Droid,
Everything was great till today morning when i go off the train and my phone lost the network, Limited service only!! I tried factory rest, apn settings again, switching between hsdpa and gsm only, nothing!!!
It's a sim free phone, running three UK
have you tried re-seating your sim?
Call three.
There may be issues in your area.
You should do this before you start troubleshooting yourself. Its much more likely that they broke something than you.
When this happened to me, it turned out to be a faulty sim card.
Try your sim in another phone?

I have noticed people managed to change their network mode to GSM only mode??? How do you that?? I only have 2 options: WCMDA and GSM/WCDMA auto?? Is this thing vary due to your courier?? Currently I am with 3 Australia. I wish I have the option to switch only to GSM. From experience, it can save you a lot of battery.
If you don't have the option then you can't pick it. I don't know if that means it's been removed or if it's simply because 3 don't offer a 2G network service (GSM mode). They probably have some 2G sharing but only in spots without 3G so you still have the GSM/WCDMA auto mode.
That's the best I can offer since I know that's how it works with 3 over here in the UK where they have only their 3G network. The firmware likely has GSM mode disabled for that reason but wait for more to back me up or prove me wrong.

I have a feeling it could be the ROM or firmware that comes with it has it disabled the GSM only option. My Desire HD is the UK version. I am not sure if the other Australian version (from Voda or 3) have that options. With my original desire (and also using 3), I have that GSM only option available. So I dont think it's because 3 doesnt offer 2G network.
Get Advanced settings from Market. You can set it to GSM Only in the phone information menu.

Thank you for sharing..yes, it works....but I will try out and see if it does save a lot of battery life.
Type *#*#4636#*#* in the phone dialer to get to testing menu. Under phone info you can set different options that are not otherwise available. No app is required.

Thanks for the info. I have tested both method...both work. But the only problem, how do we set it permanently?? I mean I have noticed every time you reboot the phone, the setting changes?? and I have to set it back to GSM only??
but even if you could technically switch it to gsm, would it actually make a difference? surely if the actual mobile network is pure 3g and no 2g, then switching on the phone wouldn't change a thing? as its not actually possible to use 2g on 3 network?(because they built network from scratch out of 3g is what they always boast about anyway..)
This is strange. I have an unbranded bought sim free HTC sensation here in the UK which Im using on the 3 network and I dont have the option under network to set it to gsm only. This option should be here on an unbranded handset, and its there on my old Desire which was also bought unbranded sim free when Im using that on the 3 network.
Anyone shed any light on this? I know the work arounds mentioned above, but Im more interested in why the option is missing on my handset.
Cheers
PS I know this is the Desire HD thread but its the only topic I could find on this subject so far.
I don't think it matters, just don't even bother with the settings menu for that in the first place. in the Testing menu just set the radio to either GSM Auto (PRL) or GSM Only. GSM gives more talk time.
I got the One X a week ago and I made unlock for it, and I installed a custom ROM (ARHD) but the 3G data is not working.
I already have the correct APN settings (I'm living in Japan using softbank)..!! but when I try to connect it says disconnected .
So anybody can help me in such issue?????
I tried leedroid and other custom ROM but all the same, no 3G data connection at all, just the telephone..!!
please helpppppp
Wrong section. This has nothing to do with the rom you flashed by the way. Your apn settings only support voice, not data. Or you need to find a different sim card that is compatible with your 3g.

But I would to say that I'm using the SIM and APN settings in my ONE X as the same when I used in my previous DHD.
So I do not think that the SIM and or APN have relation with that... because when I put the SIM back again in my DHD, I opened the 3G and sent MMS normally...!!!!!
Hello
I have a problem with my one x, it does not capture well the mobile network, while on another one x and others smartphone that captures very well the network
I gave him a flash with ruu last updated 2.17; May I always the problem
So I wonder if this is just a software problem that I can adjust itself, or it is a hardware problem and that I should return the phone in this case to the dealer
thank you

Some roms and some versions come with the radio configured to WCDMA only, meaning that it will only connect to 3G and HSPDA networks, most phones are set to WCDMA when available and GSM when not, so the phone skips from one to another depending in signal strengh.
in settings go to mobile network, there should be an option there called network mode, see if its set to WCDMA only or GMS/WCDMA Auto.

thank you again
Hi Everyone.
Stock O2 ICS- rooted - bootloader unlocked
I've recently bought used HTC One V locked to O2. Problem is gsm service never worked for me.
WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS are fine but emergency call only.
I've tried different sim, 2 custom roms, hard reset and no lucky.
Under mobile network setting I cannot swap between WCDMA only - Auto - GSM only, it is sticked to WCDMA/GSM Auto only
When push *#*#4363#*#* Cannot change network mode too, WCDMA preferred fixed only, if going to radio band selection cannot choose any (Automatic, EURO Band etc) just got message "Set [automatic or any] Unsuccessful.
What is weird, When I turn mobile data on with correct APN for my provider (currently giffgaff) I have gprs running and can send and receive data, but with my other phones I had before my service has been alwaysfast as 3G and HSDPA, not "G" like now.
Please see below my screenshots, I've checked my mobile network with many apps and there is what I've found
Ok this may seem a very stupid question but it happened more than once. Are you using the little piece that covers the sim card? That has contacts in it, without it there is no signal

If you still have warranty, run a ruu so it goes back to stock, and take it to the HTC centre. If you are lucky they will recognize it as hardware problem and give you a new one. Remember to tell them it never worked, and if they ask about root or stuff, you don't know about it
No I don't have a warranty (it's second hand and a have no seller contact anymore), otherwise I would not asking here. Looking for somebody who solved this, if.
