When I got my Galaxy Note I was really excited about it, I wanted to take complete care of the device. The flip case that comes with Galaxy Note is cheap and doesn't do it's job well. So I started searching for a case that doesn't make your device look ugly but at the same time gives good protection.
I searched a lot, went through many case photos, but most of them had a plastic back with no covering for the buttons and on the top. They would kind of do the job but there is always a open chance for the buttons to get messed up when exposed. Finally found a case called Capdase Alumor Elli Jacket, its back is made up of a thin aluminum sheet, internally it's all rubber. The case goes all round the device, covering all the buttons and leaving exact openings for ports, mic, speaker, stylus and for signal reception.

The rubber around the device feels good (Premium quality than most of the other rubber cases out there). Gives enough grip while holding the device in hand. The back aluminum gives a smooth matte finish somewhat similar to the Anodized Aluminum of MacBook.
Inside part of the case is completely rubber, giving enough protection from drops and jerks. Since the inside is completely rubber there is a slight rise in temps. but not alarming high. 32C when charging and 28C when idle.
It adds a little bulk to the device but it's worth the protection it's giving. Have to say It doesn't spoil the look of the device at all.
The case comes with a free scratch guard/screen guard. The cut out is perfect.Leaves gaps for home button, proximity sensor, ambient sensor and camera. It's clear and glossy, doesn't mess the colors. Highly finger print resistant and doesn't attract dust easily. Like most of the other screen guards it does have that little rainbow effect but it's not visible unless kept under bright light and viewed at an angle.
I bought this case off eBay because it wasn't available in the local shops. It costed me Rs.1099 that's nearly $19.7. There are few more colors like red, violet silver, magenta etc.
Thank you for reading
Looks really nice. I'd like to know a bit more from your experience, though. How does it feel in-hand, build-quality, how responsive are the buttons, is the phone noticeably heavier or thicker...?
And of course, the all important... how much did you pay for it?

It feels solid when held in hand. It does add a little bit of weight but it's not a lot. The buttons are easier to press with the case on than without. Accessibility of the buttons is good too.
Provides protection when the phone is laid down with the screen below. So there is no chance of screen rubbing.
The case keeps the camera lens from touching any surface so it remains scratch free too
Bought it for nearly $19.7.
I have this exact case. It's pretty good, but I stopped using it because it affected GPS reception too much for me. I think it degraded cell reception as well but not too badly. Still, if you don't mind that its an excellent case.

I personally never had any problem with WiFi and Signal Reception. I didn't try GPS with this case on so can't comment on that.
I'm also having gps issues with this case. Been using it for a few months. I just remove the case when i'm navigating.

So it only affects GPS and not wifi or cell? I would think it would effect wifi and cell as well.
I wish the sides were all metal as well instead of half silicon. Does it feel weird having the two materials next to each other?

There's max 5-8% loss in WiFi signal strength. Never faced any cellular signal loss because of the case.
Both materials don't make it weird, the rubber surrounding actually gives more grip.
bumping an old thread i know but i bought this alumor elli case few days back and im having some serious network trouble...below are the 2 attached images taken within 2 mins or so sitting at the same spot where i used to get flawless reception. one is with the case and one without it,
sorry but the case for me looks amazing but sucks at reception.
Related
Today i received the case and again i want so share some thoughts about it.
(let me say it right here: this is the best case ive seen so far and i can recommend it to everyone that is searching for a very slim case with considerable protection)
ORDER
i ordered the case from Obostore. it took 7 days for shipping...quite good for free international shipping. they also give discount if you order several pieces.
MATERIAL
i expected some regular plastic case but actually it is something i would describe as rubberized plastic.
makes the phone definitively way less slippery.
as far as i can tell it doesn't attract dust.
FIT
it fits perfectly and the cutouts on the side are made well. the phone fits very tight and doesn't move in the case (like in the zenus skin air jacket i reviewed some pages ago)
PROTECTION
if you are searching for an everyday-protection against scratches and some little drops this case should be your choice.
as you can see on the pictures the top and bottom of the phone are not covered by the plastic.
but that doesn't bother me because (unlike the samsung mesh-case) it fully covers the corners of the phone.
so if it drops on flat ground it will be fully protected. (not from great hight of course)
quite hard to explain but i tried to show it to you in the pictures below.
i tilted the phone to 45° and then take a shot that is showing that there is still some space between phone and surface (light coming through).
the camera is also covered very good so no scratches should get on it.
SCREEN PROTECTOR
the case came with a free screen protector from nillkin. i don't have any reference but i think its pretty good.
(although i messed it up by having a little airbubble in the down right corner. my fault.... )
CONCLUSION
this is by far the best case i have seen or used so far.
sure there are some cases with better protection but in my opinion they often add too much bulk and mess with the great look an slimness of the phone.
so i can fully recommend this case to you!
(if you liked this review please show by hitting the thanks-button)
(and sorry again for the bad picture-quality )

I also have one, and am very happy with it, but they seem to have a minor design flaw.
Doesn't really affect the usability of the case, hell, I didn't even notice it until someone on another forum pointed it out, and I doubt I ever would have if they hadn't.
what flaw are you talking about?
(although it may be better if you never tell me )
1 of the sides did not flush well with the phone when facing up.
Looks like the cutting is slightly off will gradual abscess from top going to the bottom.
Its pretty obvious if u see it at an angle.
Only seems to be an issue with the black case
The white one I got seems to fit fine
Sorry, photos aren't very clear

I also have the one in OP but chose red instead of black. I have to say it's pretty awesome. The color looks classy and the case fits just fine.
I like the rubberized texture. Without it, I always felt like the phone was going to slip right off my hand. Now not so much. Plus it almost doesn't add any thickness (I'd say around 1.5 mm at most).
Very happy.
Be careful with unprotective cases, barely there cases and only rear protecting cases

Here it is the white one, after few weeks of usage.
h t t p://imgur.com/a/LnGKp - sorry i can't post links yet (new user)
I have the phone for 2 montsh now, but i have 2 other type of case and using a different one all the time. The first 2 week was fine, no coloration at all, but at the 3rd week the brown coloration happened, which was my pocket. And the funny part is, i am carrying it in my pocket for 40min each (work)day.
The way i imagine this case:
- hard plastic
- soft touch overlay
- some thin protecting layer
No coloration in the first few weeks, but after the ""protecting layer"" wear down, the case started picking up everything. I tried to clean it, no luck.
Lastly, i really don't know what are those pink spots, or where do they came from. (It's not the camera )
I've one of these cases too.
The first thing I did was to use my fingernail to scratch away the NILLKIN words. Took me just 2 min, and I had a perfectly blank back for the case.
How good it fits to the phone? Does this case scratch the phone?
Thanks!
Well guys and gals, the HC case is finally available for the Atrix! Mine just came in the mail today!

I'm going to write up a quick first impressions review for it and post it up here in a bit.
Review is here.
nice job. on the review you might want to compare the prices. was the price of the HC worth it?
I paid $52 with shipping, so it was about $5 more than I got the Defender.
I might end up getting this I'm on my second defender case the first interior shell cracked in one corner and the gel is not standing up to the heat in South Florida, left it in the car a few times and the gel fits oddly now. The Ballistics don't have the gel form fitting exterior so I doubt I'll have a problem with it.
I searched on Google Shopping and eBay and I found this case for $33.50 with regular expedited shipping. It actually arrived at my house in NJ from Texas a day earlier than it was expected.
At first, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I thought it was going to be, but then I tried it out for a few days and I got use to it. If you want "maximum" protection, I would recommend buying this case. I use the whole setup with both the rubberized and the hard case. I haven't dropped it that many times and when I have it was usually on carpeted floors and occasionally from small heights so I really haven't tested out its durability and whatnot, but it doesn't look like it's going to break or anything. The plugs for the headphone jack as well as for the charging/HDMI ports are an awesome feature for keeping dust and water drops away from the actual phone. The only part I can find that is exposed is that fingerprint/lock button. I understand why, although I don't use the fingerprint feature, so it's not too bad.
It's pretty light and the supplied swivel clip is greatly appreciated, too. It is bulky enough to make it harder to get in and out of pockets so the clip works very nicely, especially since you put the screen facing in to provide as much protection as possible. I have tested how it fits and everything and it stays in the clip even when moving around, jumping, jogging, and shaking so I would say it works pretty well. There's a screen protector on the front part of the hard case, but it's almost as sensitive as the actual phone's screen so you don't have to press much harder than normal. The one other thing I didn't really like was that the HC's bottom was too close to the phone's touch buttons along the bottom, making it slightly harder to press them sometimes. If there was slightly more space between the two as well as a little less bulk, this would be the perfect case for protection and functionality.
Still, a great buy, I must say so myself. I definitely recommend it.
So after a week of having this on my phone the only thing that I could see someone not liking is the volume keys are harder to press. You really got to squeeze on them to get a press to register, but other than that, I really like this case. I might take the phone out and run a file on the bottom edge of the top of the finger print sensor hole. It sticks out a tad, and it kinda sharp. It's only a problem for me when the phone is in my dash mount and not in any car mode. When I swipe my finger "backwards" from the normal top of the phone to the bottom, the edge catches my finger and causes misreads. I think rounding it off a bit will help with that.
I have this case, and i must say - even though its bulky, it feels great in my hands. Its not as annoying as the otterbox defender is/was. it feels much more solid and well built. Also - its certified military grade protection. I got the black/black case in the mail about a week and a half ago - havent taken it off since i put it on! The holster is much better than the Otterbox defender also!
i originally had the shell gel before buying the hardcore. all i can say is this case is awesome!
although i kinda wished the plastic inner case had the rubber port covers as well though, since the whole rubber case makes the thing too chunky for my liking.
one other thing i didnt like is the included screen protector. first, i didnt realise it was attached to the case, lol. but my main issue with it is that it kinda messes with the display a bit. not too sure how to describe it, but it has the random colour pixels that you'd normally see if you had water on your screen. im sure after a week of wearing it in, this should go away.
the thing that annoyed me the most was that for like 3 months, ballistic had a black and red one listed on their website. now all of a sudden, it doesnt exist.
I've searched high and low for a case that suited me and my Note and eventually found a very nice case from Tridea on eBay. I received a couple of days ago and think that it looks and performs great. You can find it by searching on Tridea.Essentially it's a hard bumper in a nice sort of faux suede flip case. I went for the gray version.
It's a bit pricey at £25 and it took a couple of weeks to arrive from South Korea but I've yet to see a case that looks anywhere near as good for the money.
I just bought one too! It should arrive within a week, I got the same color as you did. I'm glad you like it, because it makes me more excited to get mine
I wanted this case more than most others but my number one issue with them all is that very few have a cut out for the ear piece!! not even a notch, i want my face oils off the screen and not have to hold the flap back on a call, simple design i would think, sigh.
I love this case, I bought the grey one as well. I do wish it had a hole for the speaker though.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Hmm, the front flap does fold round the back when using it to make calls and even gives a bit more of a better grip on the phone so I'm not that bothered about it not having a notch for the earpiece.
lamou1nr: As far as a hole for the speaker goes, it's got one but I guess you meant the same as Mrglass86.
I like the case because 1) it looks good 2) it's very light 3) it offers good bumper protection with the addition of a cover for the front that also keeps the screen clean. 4) it feels really nice and solid without adding a load of bulk to the phone.
I don't see the fascination with the aluminium bumpers. They don't look as though they'd offer any protection in a drop.
I like some of the Zenus cases (it was either the Tridea or the Zenus Capsule case) but they're expensive and the diary types just seem like a bit of a gimmick - would you really keep your cash and cards in the same case as your Note? Not me!
Until otterbox or a similar maker comes up with a really tough aluminium case I'm happy to stick with the Tridea.
If you fold it too often it will eventually get loose or have lines along the edge. Another issue with all such book-like case is that we cannot use our thumb to operate the phone anymore.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Just ordered it. I hope it'll arrive sooner than expected.
Anybody bought this kind of Tridea case? Available on eBay for $22.

Wow I dont normally like flip cases but this one looks very nice. Not sure if i'll fork out for one as i've already got cases for it but can you guys post pictures when you get it, i'll get a better idea than from the ebay pics
Just thought I'd follow up on my OP. I've been using this case for almost a couple of months. The phone gets a lot of use by me and is constantly being taken in/out of my pockets. I'm happy to say that the case is holding up well. I think that the 'spine' of the cover would be the first part to go since it's the part that gets the most stress.
After two months the fabric along the spine has been smoothed but doesn't look bad, kind of what you'd expect really, it 'weathered'. There is some very thin rubber edging that runs along the edge of the whole case and this has initially split on the spine hinge area but it has only come off in one tiny section. It's hardly noticeable.
The main thing is that it's protected my Note very well. I don't expect a huge lifespan from it (at least the cover) but the bumper around the note will last. I may utilise a bit of gaffer tape to strengthen the spine and you could do this without spoiling the aesthetic if you do it properly. I may also use some rubber spray that I bought from Amazon which is really useful stuff (it coats whatever you spray in a matt rubber coating). One last thing to mention is that some people were bothered that you couldn't get to the volume controls while the case was shut, well you can press the rocker through the spine without any problem so you can use the volume control even with the Note in your pocket. I'll update this if I notice anything further degradation but all-in-all I like this cover a lot still.
My case has also held up reasonably well. It provides great protection. I too had the rubber on the edge ware off but only on the "hinge" of the cover. The only other part that is showing signs of age is the metallic plastic piece that is on the back, it has a few scuffs and a chip. For a flip case this is one of the best.
So I just received my Otterbox Commuter Case. There are a couple things I don't like about it from the start. But we will go over that in a bit. I used my phone for these pictures, so sorry they aren't superbly awesome.
A couple pictures

As far as height goes, I used my Performance MX Mouse for reference:
The feel of the case
Overall the case is sturdy, and doesn't feel flimsy. This is what Otterbox is known for however. It is a bit stiffer to get off the phone compared to the Ballistics case that Sprint tries to push out when they sell the phone.
The Silicone cover
The included silicone case is incredibly stiff. Does not feel like the TPU Case, or the Skeleton Fishbone casing at all. This also feels less likely to take an impact then the ballistics case, however, it doesn't let the phone slide around when you place it on a surface. The headphone cover and usb port cover are a nice included package, but rather useless if you don't use the harder plastic cover as well.
One of the biggest shortcomings for me, and this may change with usage, is that the volume rocker and power buttons, feel almost impossible to press. If there wasn't an optical display letting me know if the screen display was on or off, or if the volume was being raised or lowered I would be hard pressed to know if the buttons were actually working. When pressing the volume rocker, it feels like it isn't lined up with the physical buttons at all, almost as if it is slipping.
Polycarbonate Cover
It is definitely sturdy and firm. I only have a couple problems with this and they are relatively minor. If I put the case down with the polycarbonate cover towards the surface, the phone slides around quite easily. Some softer material, in addition to the hard case, would have been nice on the back just to keep it from moving.
The other small thing, is that they put a bit of "bumper space" on the speaker phone hole. Which offsets the balance of the case. I can lightly push on the left side of the phone and make it off balance. If they had put these bumper spaces in a straight even line, then this would resolve that issue.
My past cases
It would take some more time to give it an adequate review, but that is just my first glance review. I work in a manufacturing and chemical plant, so it will be interesting to see how the case holds up to the environment.
Just got mine today and I definetly agree with you for the most part. The most annoying thing is that the buttons are a little hard to press. Coming from the Trident Aegis I definetly feel the difference. Its a good case but I expected more.
Send from my Galaxy SII Epic Touch
I was about to buy this but I decided to buy the Trident Aegis instead. Saved me $10 and I'm liking the Aegis a lot, asides from the fact that my phone is pretty bulky now. Oh well.
Agreed about the buttons. I got the top tier case, and the poly carbon case has huge rivets to clip to the belt clip I don't use so they're a pain too. Most secondarily wish they could've made it more water resistant. It doubles the size of the phone, so there's some frustration there too but I kind of enjoy adding some weight to it. I stuck a fly grip on it too so I'm starting to feel little Trans-humanist
Over all though my arguments are range trivial. I'm pretty happy knowing my baby can take the kind of abuse my electronics fear me for.

Exactly. Went back to my Trident.
Get the Otterbox Defender Case. Works fine for me. Especially working in a kitchen.
I've disliked the Commuter since the days of having it on my HTC Inspire 4G. Very slippery and build quality does not compare to the Case-Mate Tough. It picks up a lot of lint/dust, the volume rockers are difficult to use, and the outer shell started cracking after a few months.
I'm very happy with my Tough but getting bored with the black on black so I just ordered a blue Trident Aegis to add some color to my case selection.
Transmission sent from a Galaxy S II, CODENAME style.
Yeah, I put a RMA/Return request to the seller to ask for my money back. Funny thing he is out till the 15th. Very close to the day that my return time period ends. I copied all the stuff though, so if he refuses it, paypal complaint will be incoming
Waterproof Aluminum Case Gorilla Glass Screen Cover for Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 Review
I ordered the case from this guy http://www.ebay.com/usr/cyfentech from eBay. The total was $27.00 with free shipping.
I asked him if the case had a rubber home button like the photo in the description, which he replied and said yes, but it did not have one.
Shipping took 4 days instead of 3, because the usps can't find my house
Now, the box looks exactly the same as the Lunatik Taktik case for the iPhone, because I read somewhere on eBay that they were made by the factory which makes the Lunatik cases.

Here is the case itself, It has a pretty strong silicone interior structure, it has real aluminum on the back and front, but It does NOT have gorilla glass! I'm not surprised, that it doesn't but, it has a great screen protector that fits perfectly on the screen, no air bubbles or anything!
I did notice if you have the case in direct sunlight you can see tiny dots on the screen protector, but that is just my OCD :silly:
You may have a rainbow effect on the screen for a while, but it went away for me. It also came with a cleaning cloth. Also it should be noted, that the front camera and sensors do not have cut-outs. The case also has a hole on the side for a phone strap. The case adds some weight to your device.
The case came with 6 screws, with a pouch containing 2 extra ones and a tool to screw them in.
Once I assembled the case, I noticed that their was quite a large gap, even after the case was tightly secured together!
Basically, they sent me 4 screws that were too long, making the case not secure. I fixed this by using a Dremel tool to grind the screws down to the correct size. This could be a pain in the ass for some people if you don't have a grinder or file of some-sort
The power and volume buttons were easy to press, but the home button can be a little hard to press hence the large bezel.
The volume and mic ports have some metal mesh coverings that are supposed to "Splash-proof" your phone. I pored some water on the ear speaker, but the water went through it
Call quality sounds fine, and my dad said my voice sounded fine, so no problem there!
The port covers for the micro usb plug and audio jack seem to be alright. The micro usb cover is very narrow, so the power cord that came with the Galaxy S3 is the largest plug you could fit in there. My Belkin car charger seemed to work, so if your plug is about the size of the stock cord that came with your phone or smaller, you should be good. :good: The audio port is narrow too, so if you have any right angled audio jacks on your headphones, you would probably need and extender or something. My Apple Earpods seem to work if you need a a reference.
The camera, flash and speaker cutouts are fine, the speaker has that metal mesh cover, and the camera and flash are open.
Since the case is made out of aluminum, you will see signal loss. This is a major issue for me, since coverage is not that great where I live. At my house without the case I would get 2 bars of 4g LTE in my bedroom, with the case on I get 1 bar. Without the the case I would get 1 out of 4 bars of 3g in my Chemistry class. With the case I am roaming a lot of times indoors. I'm running Carbon ROM 4.3, but I flashed a stock based ROM, but it did not make a difference. Wifi strength is reduced slightly but not too noticeably.
In conclusion, the case is not too bad for $27.00. It is obviously not waterproof, but it could probably withstand a day at the beach or fishing at a river. Only two major issues would be the signal reduction, and the screws being too long. If you dropped your phone in this case, I doubt it would do anything because of the silicone truss and aluminum bezel. If you like a rugged case, or if you like Lunatic cases, this is as close as you can get!
Hope my review wasn't that bad, and sorry for some of the blurry pictures
good work thank you
I got the same case Saturday except in silver. I am very pleased. It makes the phone much bigger, like the size of a Note. However, I like the feel when typing. Seems easier for some reason.
Thing is very heavy. Could be because I am using the oem extended battery in the case. But I believe the metal adds a good bit of weight.
I have ordered a holster for the Note in hopes it will work. Once I find a holster, all will be great.

so i gotta ask. if it has open parts like the mic and headphone jack.....how exactly is this water proof? it cant be submerged. more like water repellent.
