[Q] Is there a way to overclocking arco's ICS kernel? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

title says it all, anyone knows how to?

as far as I know, overclocking capabilities must be written in the kernel source code. Thus, unless arco adds the code or someone made a custom overclock-able kernel. I think it can't be overclocked.

Plus there is no need to overclock it. Be better just to use undervolt to save battery.

Isc kernel

So im curious is there an overclockable kernel for ics that i can use with set cpu. All i see are stock kernels. Are we waiting for more development on kernels? On gb i could over clock to 1.7 which was awesome.

im taking a guess here, so someone correct me if im wrong, but i think everyone is waiting for the ics source to be released b4 they start makeing custom kernels.

Use the search function. It's already been posted that you can use Tegrak to overclock the stock kernel, even on ICS

Doesnt work with cm9,miui, and apperently aokp, since im on aokp and it says kernal not available. Custom kernels would be awesome right now
To begin with we don't have the source. It's not as simple as splitting the zImage and typing in some numbers. Also, there's very little demand for OC'd kernels on this phone. Most people that OC do it to increase performance, reduce lag, play games, and a few other things. Basically they do it for a reason. The ones that do it just because or so they can show it off to their friends are a very small group. Since the majority don't feel overclocking is necessary on this phone there won't be too many OC'd kernels even when we get the source.

ICS Kernel OC

Is it possible that we will see an ICS kernel built from source that has been tweaked to support overclocking as well as undervolting?
I realise that source has just came out for our phone but at the same time I find that ICS is rather laggier and has much more latency than when I used GB Juggernaut OC's to 1.73 ghz. Irreguardless of people that will hate on me for saying I experience latency with stock and custom ICS Roms, I am still just wondering if we will be able to OC again one day while on Android 4.0+.
Additionaly,
I know that TheDerekJay has a custom kernel called "Venom" but I do not believe it has OC capabilities.
Does anyone have information pertaining to this subject. All help will be appreciated and thanked

Give them a few weeks, I am sure they will have a few that will Overclock/underclock.

If your talking about his latest build with the Venom kernel, no OC built in yet.

But I think it has undervolting.
Give 'em time. Faux is working on one, but asks for patience. I'm sure MrX is too, but is probably concentrating on CM9, since he's part of that team.
Sent from my beastly Galaxy S 2.
I'm patiently waiting. Got rid of the lag by backing up stock rooted, eiping everything/factory reset/Darkside wipe...then restoring. Now stock is smooth as silk, and I use Nova Launcher Prime. If this helps at all.

Best kernel for cpu control

Hi everyone! I've got a dinc 2 rooted with stock rom, I was wondering what the best kernel was for controlling the cpu, I want to get better battery life and i'm not sure how.

any kernel will do, its more about the gov's in the kernels themselves. Choose a kernel and just select the "Powersave" governor.
Excellent thanks!

No problem!
I'm running aeroevan's v10.5. It's supposed to be for his ICS ROM, but it works nicely on CM7.2, too.
The stock CM7.2 kernel doesn't allow undervolting.
I haven't played with any Sense ROMs. I prefer vanilla Android.

[Q] *Noob Needing Explanation*

Hello Fellow XDA members,
I have the Galaxy S3 T-999, and I flashed AOKP Milestone (4.2.2) and I am wondering what kind of kernel this comes with. Can I overclock? When I open any set cpu type application, it does not let me go past the 1.51 gigahertz mark. What can I do to properly overclock? Do I have to replace my rom all together?
Thank You,
Noob A.K.A. oyoyo12
Need different kernel.
Overclocking unnecessary, advise against it.
Yes, a kernel that supports OC is needed. Faux's kernel is a great one at least for me. For managing the frequencies, setCpu is a good choice, although its a paid app, its very simple to use. A free app that packs a lot of features is Trickster Mod. On another note, you can flash kernels on top of ROMs no need to wipe data or system, just caches just in case.

In case fauxs kernel don't work with your phone which is weird but NOT ALL PHONES ARE CREATED EQUAL so it might work for you or not and also if it does t then download ktoones kernel.. It will let u OC your phone to 2100 Ghz

Best kernel for over clocking 4.3

Okay so I'm using a rogers i747 currently running Quantum rom v1.05 and running the latest bionic sheep kernel for android 4.3. I'm looking to overclock my device and wanted some tips and advice from experienced overclockers about it. Should I use this kernel for it? Different kernel? How far can I safely (it's never safe but let's say as safe as possible) push the CPU. What about voltage settings? I've never touched my voltage before nor overclocked so the more specific the details the better.

I personally suggest the BMS kernel, found here. Just be sure to choose the right Linux base version and stuff for your device. Since you are running 4.3, i would assume you should choose the 3.4y based build. Be sure to triple check before you download though. I have been using this kernel for quite a while overclocked/undervolted and get awesome battery life.
Some advice -
Undervolt slowly, in about 5mV intervals. Test voltages for a while before going lower.
Research before you apply!
