I finally took the plunge, rooted and loaded fd24 on my phone. Chrome seems to crash on a consistent basis. My question, is it my phone or it's just seriously buggy.
I don't know for sure one way or the other but I can confirm that out locked up and crashed constantly for me on every ICS build I ran. It is still in beta though.

I would say it is chrome. I have not had any luck with it. Always seems slow and crashes
I don't think its been worked out yet for epic 4g touch.. I thought I heard that it may be kernel related.. and that would make Spence since we don't have source for ICS kernels. I think it might work better on a nexus S 4g better, but don't quote me on that..
it should be soon... I hope..

It's chrome

It's Chrome that's buggy. It is only a Beta version. I had heard they're releasing an update for it in the next week and then the update after that one is supposed to take it out of Beta.
Chrome is consistently buggy. You're not alone.
Its not chrome ..... It runs great on galaxy nexus

That's a different phone. Apps don't work the same way on different phones.
It constantly crashes on my E4GT on AOKP build 34. When it does work it stutters when scrolling.

Yep, kernel issue. Once I see a build with that fixed I will declare it the official build. That's all that is left to be fixed IMHO.

Yea i thinks its a bit of both to, crome ran just fine on cm9 on my 3d but on the touch it his hit or miss if it will not crash.

Its def chrome. I have a Nexus s 4g and it works pretty much as expected but on the Epic its not even worth taking up mem. When all is said and done though I would have to say that it will eventually be the best browser for mobile. Its really a joy to use when it works right. Heard its supposed to come out of beta sometime soon so shouldn't be a long wait for us.

So if it works on other devices then how is the issue with the app? The kernel on our phone is what doesn't agree with the app.

Chrome has been doing this since the early ICS leaks. I want to love this browser but it's pretty much useless in its current state.

Lol, I don't think that switching carriers will fix that bug. It's most likely a bug on numerous Samsung devices.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Im running FF11 and have had the same issue the last couple of builds, i noticed it after FE21. i was starting to think my E4GT was having a hardware problem. Glad to hear im not the only one who's having this issue.
I started having the issue on custom ICS Roms. Tried several roms and stock unrooted to fix it and eventually sprint swapped out my device because I couldn't fix it on my own. Picked up my replacement two days ago. Currently running stock unrooted FH13 and still having the issue. Surely Samsung is aware and working on a fix for this... Time will tell. If anyone has found a fix for it please post it. Thanks!
Are you referring to the hardware buttons? (i.e menu, home, back, and search?)
Ya, mine do not respond every so often. It started happening once I was flashing custom ROM's for ICS and JB. I don't believe there to be a fix out for that right now.. I just put up with it considering it doesn't happen THAT often.

Unfortunately it says the the report wasn't confirmed by Samsung, and it also says that its still gonna have to go through the carriers... dunno how att is because I'm new but I know vzw is a huge Hassel when it comes to pushing through any upgrades. Hopefully the code Samsung wrote form its handset gets leaked though because then we will have the capability to flash it without waiting for carrier approval.

Despite the fact that it's not really official (no Samsung confirmation) it's still good news. I doubt this would be an invented news, there's gotta be some truth behind it... now as for the carriers' part in this, that's another matter!

My theory is that the Jelly Bean leak since is actually a Sammy leak and is still being worked on by Tmobile and AT&T uses the almost the same kernel both d2 the devices. The new jelly bean leak has LTE settings in it meaning that you can set AT&T LTE/PTA APN settings and use 4G LTE in theory. Their are risk because the leak contains a new baseband, you can always reflash back to an older baseband though so this is not the biggest deal. The update does not include a new bootloader so no worries their. And you can always flash back to ICS. In my mind this may be worth fixing up a few files to see if it works. I'm going to give a try. I'll report back.
Looking forward to what you uncover drew

The system and everthing seems to copy over fine, it's the kernel that's giving me trouble right now. I'm going to work on it some more and see what I can find out, but by that time I'm sure an AT&T version will be out.
I'm still working on it and will continue.
What about using ktoon's or faux' JB kernel in the meantime?

Not sure if many people were aware or not but Codename put out a ROM for our Sprint version. It's up on GOO and also if you just google Codename Android, his site will come up. Not sure why he didn't open a thread on here.
I ran his Roms on the Nexus and it was awesome, lots of customizations. It's more like AOKP as far as options as opposed to CM.
Edit: DO NOT FLASH YET, ISSUES BEING WORKED OUT.

Weird we all noticed this Rom without being told bout it, Andriod minds think alike I guess lol
We find our own way... we aren't sheep who have to be told when our updates are coming via a major conference. *looks at sheeple*

Or do I have to flash it manually? If so, is there a place I can find a perfectly stock version, un-tweaked with the original kernel, etc? Thank you in advance.

There is no OTA for 4.2 for any CDMA Nexus. You can flash a stock 4.2 ROM either in the Development section or on the rootz site.

Toro probably won't see an OTA for several months, if at all. VZW might be on the ball with this update and we'll get one by Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath

"If at all". Really? We already got JB 4.1 first before even Verizon's own Droid line up. Sure, we wait a bit longer for an official OTA, but we're still one of the first to get it.

I only mention it because the fire sale they had on the GN's really makes it seem like VZW is trying to get rid of their stock and move on. I admit that was pretty overly negative thinking, but I don't have much faith in big corporations.
Thanks for the responses. Any recommendations for a pure stock 4.2? I believe I saw an AOSP 4.2 in the development forum, but I figured it was tweaked around.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
MMuzzy's and mwalt2's ROMs are both apparently working quite nicely. I'm on mwalt's myself and have had no problems. Everything right now is basically stock because there's just not been enough time to monkey with things.
I recommend Jake's JellyBelly rom. It's on RootzWiki, though.
