MHL adaptor with 1080p - Galaxy S II Accessories

Hi,
Sometime ago I purchased a USB MHL adaptor by eBay and it supposed to support 1080p but after trying different roms, I can only use 1080i.
Could anyone confirm me if 1080p is possible with a MHL adaptor? If so, I will double thank a link to purchase it.
Thanks!

OK this question may sound stupid but is your TV 1080p? If its not you won't get 1080p quality.

In my case, there are no differences between Sammy and Original Android roms regarding video play.

1080i with Compressed Video, 1080P with Uncompressed video
I read in these forums that compressed video will be outputted at 1080i even on 1080p capable monitors or tvs.
So basically 720p movies will come out as 1080i, compressed 1080p videos will come out as 1080i.
Then uncompressed 1080p video files will ouput at 1080p.
Now my question is that what is samsung's standard for uncompressed video?
Can anyone of you guys try playing 1080p videos and see if it will output as 1080p?
Im a little disappointed that my onda 7inch elite chinese tablet can output at full 1080p even just displaying the homescreen AND play even
the 1080p videos with hi profile 4.1 at 16 reference frames while
my 3x more expensive and more powerful galaxy s2 would output only 1080i when playing videos.
The homescreen is just upscaled and so are the photos, im pretty miffed that an allwinner cortex a8 cpu with only a single core mali400
(not a mali400 mp4 like in the s2) does much better when it comes to both videoplaying and video out.

will it work with non 1080 or 720p monitors????

Which version of videos look better on the Nexus?
Do you record video in 720p or 1080p and why? Personally, I thought the 720p looked better, but I haven't had the time to do intensive testing yet.
I only use 720p because there isn't a place to put my 32 gb sd card.

So basically, you would use 1080p if you had a removable SD card. So, it is a storage limitation for you.
My problem is file size not storage space (I have VZN 32GB). With 1080p the file size is huge, so I stick with 720p
1080p to be able to view it in large screen.

Yeah, I hate having to constantly transfer files to my computer. If I need to a covert a 1080 to a 720, I have the software for that, but not to convert 720 to 1080.

In that case, I'll create a software to do that and sell it to people who believe in 'upscaling'.
It's not that big.
I find that there's no major difference between filming in 720p and 1080p, so I mainly use 720p since I have no huge screen to watch them on.
I would say that 720p looks better on the Galaxy Nexus, as it fits the phones native resolution. You can't fully enjoy a 1080p masterpiece without the screen to match, granted it will still be very high quality.

720 because 1080 is only 30fps

so 720 is 60fps? I thought both were 30fps
1080p. Goes directly onto Youtube. Then I download it from there. Faster than transfering it over slow ass MTP.

No, he made a mistake: 720 is 30 fps and 1080 is 24 fps.
Not sure if the Galaxy Nexus and the Epic Touch Galaxy S2 has the same camera or not, but on my Galaxy S2 I noticed that when I record at 1080p the video looks like it is zoomed in or cropped differently from 720p which is why I use 720p on my Galaxy S2.
With 50gb on box.net I'll just upload each video there for safe keeping. until needed.

1. it's no longer box.net, it's called box now, and their address is box.com
2. u r aware that box has 100mb file limit right ?
They have different cameras. I would think that this could affect the aspect ratio and the overall quality of the shots.
Personally I don't record video so I don't have a preference.
I noticed on mine that if I'm recording video with 720p and I touch the screen to take a picture, the picture doesn't look right. It's not framed correctly due to the resolution change. What I saw on the screen is not what I get on the picture.
But when I'm recording with 1080p, the picture looks like how it did on the screen.
I'm on rooted stock 4.0.4 Verizon Nexus.

Well, I will do some testing and make a post about it. Seems like there are a lot of mixed opinions here.

[Q] How is video playback?

Hi,
I'm willing to buy Galaxy Nexus and I'm wondering if it can play 1080p mkv video smooth.

It is likely to be a high framerate. You can use Handbrake to lower the quality....
Remember, your phone can only run at upto 1000-1200Mhz whereas your desktop is likely to be 2000+MHz.

Use H/W decoder instead of H/W+ or S/W.

The MXPlayer can't play the video with hardware decoder, only software.

Handbrake is software to convert video files.

It should be able to. If you can't, you may not have the correct version of MX Player for your Note2. Read the help option or go here https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/
Read about different hardware compatibility and the available codecs.

You need a 13mp camera for 4k last I knew. The Tab S all have only an 8mp. The 1080p 60 maybe possible but there could be a hardware issue there as well since tablets get lesser cameras.

4K is less than 8 MP. Problem is that the part of the SOC used for image processing is probably not fast enough for 4K video.

I don't think any phones with the 808 processor can record 1080p at 60 FPS straight out the box.

We actually have a mod that enables 60fps 1080p video. I tested it and works.
However there is a considerable bug. Using this mod, we cannot record slow motion
video. Neither 120fps nor 240 fps.
