Battery Life - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

What kind of usage are you guys getting out of your SGS2's now ?
I took my phone of the charger at 7 am today & it died at 2 pm. had minimal usage - a few texts, pic message, a call, and 5 mins of GPS use.
I have bullet kernel, stock rom (GB 2.3.5)
7 hours of minimal is pretty bad. really shouldn't be the battery after only 8 months, but i will probably pick up a new one anyway

I can get up to 20 hours of battery for what i consider moderate use. What really shows the usage is the screen on time. I can get between 3.5 hours - 4 hours of screen/display on time. ( see in your system battery info). (I could not break 2.5 hours display on time on my HTC One S so I sold it)
After ICS update my battery life sucked until i master reset. Now I am back to normal.
I am running and have been running stock roms. In the past I was a flash junkie... but this phone has never needed an aftermarkey ROM. It has always run flawlessly stock.

I'm getting around 18-20 hours with moderate usage. I mostly just browse on the internet during downtime at work, which can be more than a few hours straight.
I'm was using Juggernauts v5.0 up until today. Just flashed Darkside v4. We'll see how it holds up.

Agreed!! I tried out other ROMs when I first got my s2 but as you said, it never needed an aftermarket ROM ...I do however use Bullet kernel and notice a substantial difference on "lag free" setting
But 20 hours !?!? ...i think mb i can get that much if I don't touch my phone even once. hmm ..i guess i will give tracking the screen on time & seeing if I fall in that 4 hr range

hmm ...seems like i am getting a third of what i should be getting on minimal usage, not even moderate. had the phone 8 months & alternate batteries and even w/o doing that, the stock battery should be fine after only 8 months ...wonder why i get such poor battery life now

Any luck improving your battery life?
I have the Telus version and have always had about 12 - 16 hours with minimal usage on the stock rom which is pretty bad. I recently flashed CM9-beta1 and I'm lucky to get 6-8 hours like yourself. I love cyanogenmod but this is unacceptable.

This is my results with AOKP whitehawkx kang 7/15, darkside AOKP kernel #2, CPU sleeper 2.3

How much screen on time is that? People need to realize that just saying how long your phone lasts means nothing without screen on time. I will usually get around 3 hours screen on time, whether that be me using moderately for 15 hours, or heavy usage for 4 hours, screen on time will always be around 3 hours
Like today I had off and have been using my phone a lot
Now if I had worked my phone would probably be at 70 with like an hour of screen on time.

The problem with your battery running low quick is because you are running Gingerbread! Ice Cream Sandwich runs faster and has 70% better battery life! I have went 18 hours on moderate usage and about 14 hours on more harder use! As for light usage I have went 2 days on a full charge!
I just HIGHLY suggest that you switch over to either stock ICS or a Customized ROM!

Like I said saying how long the battery last means nothing without screen on time. And I disagree, I had much better battery life on Gb than on Ics

Ugh, not another battery life thread -.- smh..
Battery life is not determined by ROM, Kernel, or usage statistics. Yes it has a general impact but not nearly as much as...
LOCATION!
When your phone switches from HSPA to EDGE or any other service type, that initialtes a wake lock, uses power to switch frequencies. Uses power to update the ROM and all apps that you are now on whatever frequency. Now it does that all the time you switch from HSPA, HSPAP, EDGE, GPRS. So if your in a place with excellent signal then yes your battery life will be much better than in a place with low to no HSPA cause then your phone is constantly switching signals.
About GB and ICS, generally speaking ICS will be better at battery handling and power consumption. When i had CM7 on my HD2 in airplane mode, running not nothing but wifi, then again on CM9, CM9 lasted about a half day longer.
But again, location is more important then screen on times and battery life lengths.

If you really care about your battery life, just get an extra battery and portable charger. Doesnt make since to get a smartphone and not use it because your worried about battery life.

I can usually get around 24 hours out of a charge on a normal day running AOKP.

[Q] Battery life/kernel question

I am currently using CM7 RC4 and have been reading through the CM forum for tips on how to improve my battery life. I must admit that I have tried various kernels (CFS and BFS as well as SBC and non) but nothing seems to really make a difference.
I average about 6 to 8 hours of battery life with light to moderate use. The most time I spend really using the phone is for the 2+ hours when I go to the gym and use Pandora. Besides that, I send some texts, browse the web and use Facebook. I know that there are a lot of variables when it comes to interpretation over how much use of a phone is "a lot" but still.........I hate how quickly my battery drains.
In one instance, I went to bed at 1 a.m. with 99% charge (having been off the charger only 30 minutes) and when I woke up at 8:30, I was already down to 57% with high Cell Standby as well as Android System.
I have now gone through and done the change on my phone to set the radio to "CDMA Only" as well as disabling Auto Sync.
I am currently using SavageZen Kernel CFS 0.2.1 and will report back on how it does overnight but.....definitely not holding my breath.
Any helpful tips are appreciated.

First, make sure you've done this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712990
Also, turn off your back up data to Google servers in settings > privacy.
I've had it off for a good 5 hours or so and my battery life has already drastically improved.
To be honest dude, without an extended battery man that's about the best you're going to get. I consider myself a moderate-heavy user and I work from 8am-5pm. My battery is unplugged at 7am and when I get off at 5pm its on about 20% on my way home. I've tried just about EVERY rom(aosp/sense) along with EVERY kernel combination out there. I browse web, constant text, twitter, Facebook, email, maybe a game and I've never witnessed anything greater than what I posted above. No matter what people say to you about how great their battery life is or how its been running for 18hrs its all BS(w/ reg battery). Yeah if your phone is sleeping 90% of the time then yeah its believable, but for users like us 6-8 is about the best with a normal battery. Now a buddy of mine has the sprint extended battery; dude uses the hell out of his phone and can honestly say his phone last about 17 hours of power usage.
My tip would be to invest in an extended battery if you want more than 6-8 hrs.

Define moderate use! My screen on my evo gets turned on like every 5 or 10 mins while wifi usage sits at 40% and the screen is constantly at 50%. My phone lasts me through work with pretty moderate/heavy usage(7-9 hrs) and I'm happy with my battery simply because it's not going to get better(regular batt). Now if your display never gets passed 20% then you're not using your phone buddy. But, if you're using a REGULAR battery and you're actually getting 18 hours feel free to post pics or no one cares to hear about this make believe 18 hours. Please do share how you actually use your phone; how are you achieving such great results cause as of right now you're just one of those randoms who come in and say **** like" durrrr I get 18hrs on my phone, but I post no pics to back it up". PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

The best option I could suggest would be search E-bay for a 3500 MaH extended battery. They run about $.01 with about $9.99 shipping from China. If you need help I can send you a link to one of the auctions. Also make sure things like auto-brightness isn't enabled and that things are syncing a ridiculous amount of times per day. Good Luck.
Ive been running CM7 for a couple weeks battery life started going down hill fast.
My fix was to get new HTC battery for $7 on Ebay problem solved.
Just try turning the Google backup off.
I get from 10hrs to 15 but I turn off the day when I'm not using it and have my CPU set to run a at different speeds

Bro I bought a 3500+ battery from eBay and it lasts me about the whole day, this is with the exception with 3G on and heavy texting, moderate browsing and heavy and I mean "heavy" application use during the end of the day. On other days when I'm not texting I'm watching videos on youtube with the 4G on, this last for about 30 - 60 minutes top!. So whats my point? Say thing like you said, "My tip would be to invest in an extended battery if you want more than 6-8 hrs."
pictures Below :
Im not sure what kernels are being used that are tossing out such ruff battery life but SavagedZen-1.0.0-CFS-HAVS-WiMAX-GB-noSBC is treating me right.
Simple performance setting in CM changing governor can get the job done adding many hours of extra battery life.

Smartass setting is great performer to say the least power packed battery saver.
Not sure if apps available but it would be nice if governor had timer settings were user could set what governor they want to run at what time automatically.
Example would be after 11pm power-save governor kicks in then returns to Smartass from 7am - 12pm etc.
If such apps available...maybe I'm missing setting in CM someone please let me know

Closest you're going to get to that is setcpu man. It does just about everything you just mentioned. There's a donate version in the market and a free version that the dev puts up for xda users try google search you'd find it in a heartbeat.
Actually I'm feeling nice. The latest version is 2.1.1.

Actually I'd say its pretty simple enough in cm7 and I think it should probably stay that way to be user friendly to the not so savvy rooter lol. But above you stated you wanted more control of your kernel pretty much; setcpu gives you total control. You can set a diff governor profile for diff actions(plug, unplug, screen off), battery percentages, etc. I'd say give it a shot.

Does anyone use 4G on all day and get good batt?

Want to get a small survey. Do you guys leave 4G on all day and only 4G, no JuiceDefender or radio tricks and get good battery?
Post your results please!
I use Setcpu for screen off and underclock to 1.35 GHz and average 12 hours allowing 4g to stay on throughout my day.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
I've been getting about the same battery length whether I'm on 4G only or WiFi+EDGE - which is around 6-8 hours. This is without additional battery-saving techniques.
i get around 8-9 hours if i leave 4g on....... without it 12+
what settings do you have on setcpu i have it downloaded but i haven't used it on this phones tips will help
Yes 4G on, no JD help, no wifi relying. My buddy's Droid bonic has the extended 2880 mah battery and I'm darn jealous, keeps LTE on and lasts a day streaming google music all day. This is obviously the perfect setting we all want, fast 4G, sync on, blistering powerhouse, no compromise usage.
I've got a profile during screen off for 384mhz/192 powersave
Main is 1350/192 ondemand. Phone remains smooth and usable.

I'm really shock today, picked up an exchange yesterday and today I'm getting over 15hrs with 4G on and fully stock and I still have 33% left. This is with a few calls, music streaming and texting.
First unit I would get around 8-10hrs.
So yeah, I'm a happy camper, lol.

That's really good and your initial numbers are more in line with the majority of the members here. I wonder if its ether phone itself or the battery. :-T
im surprised as well i leave everything on and the phone is still alive all day. have 4g on, sync, stream, web, text, couple calls, screen brightness set to automatic.
i think if i do some battery saving techniques i could push 2 days/
been on for 13 hours and still have 26%.
way better than the 8 - 10 hour max on my vibrant.
havent had to worry about charging my phone on at all

Wow, there has to be some issue causing some of us to only get 8 hours out of a battery and others getting 13+. Starting to make me wonder if I have a bad one.
I keep 4g on & I get good battery life too. I don't underclock or even mess with the CPU at all either.
im starting to wonder if I got one with a really good battery, ill post screens tomorrow but since I bought the phone like 3 weeks ago I have Never turned off 4g. im on wifi at home but where I work for 8 or more hours in on 4g. i leave wifi on anyway and i dont use juice defender or any power saving modes, i tend to use full brightness, and i play with my phone (checking phandroid and cnet/videos, rev3 etc...) whenever I'm not in a sale.
all of that and my battery always lasts more than 12 to 15 hours.
I will charge tonight and post screens either as soon as I remeber when on low battery.
is anyone else getting great battery life?

i only know my own definitions of high and low use I guess but id estimate an average of being touched at least 60% of every hour, up to 90% at work and when I'm bugging my fiance for playing with my phone too much at home its up to 100 lol
and at least once a day I flash something and reboot twice and run sd maid and i play some games like shadowgunner, samurai vengeance 2 and i love dragon fly :-D

Just my two cents, but I leave my 4g on all the time. I literally never turn it off and I get a full days (moderate) use out of my SGS II. I don't know how, but this is BY FAR the very best battery life i've ever gotten out of an Android; and I've owned quite a few out them by this point (since the original hero). I know it's battery is very large for an oem/ as it comes battery and for me I can really tell.
Amazing battery life on a single charge
I'm getting 13+ hours with 4G on all day. Simply amazing battery life.
My phone is rooted with Teshxx streamlined ROM loaded, with no additional power saving apps of features running.
I'm in an area with amazing 4G signal, my phone never switches to 3G/Edge.
It is possible your mileage may vary if the phone is switching constantly between the two.

I'll bite. First off, detail your setup. modem, kernel, ROM.
Second, from your graph it doesn't look like you are in a good service area, how many bars do you usually have?
4+ in screen time. At 4% left.
Rom: calkulin 2.8.1
Kernel: rogue desperado
modem: ek02
undervolted -100mv with calk's script. Max cpu set to 1ghz

Sorry i could have sworn i uploaed a picture of my setup. its now the third picture.
i usually have around 3-4 bars. at that time i was at work but that is a constant drain home or anywhere else. at home i get much better signal.
Have you ever had reasonable battery life, or is this a new issue?
It's possible that your battery is bad, but I think it's unlikely unless it's been under high temps for an extended time.
Some suggestions I'd try if it was me;
- backup your sd card and reformat it
- try running calk 2.8.1 without the ics theme to see if usage improves
- run your setup without wiping/flashing for a few days and see if the phone settles in
Good luck getting it sorted.

When I first started, I was getting horrible battery life. Like 50% loss in 4 hours. Here are a few things you can try.
1. Turn off auto sync to google
2. Turn off facebook and sync
3. Turn off email syncing
You get the pattern. I think for me it was the fact that I was in a horrible reception area and all of the syncing made the phone constantly try to get a connection. Now i get 5-10% loss in 4 hours, which I'm happy with.
Kernel and modem are important too, so might help to tell us what you're using exactly.
Hope this helps.
EL26 and EL29 Kernels/Modems were huge battery drainers for me.
My set up is calks 2.8.1
Kernel: Desperado flashed yesterday
And modem El 36.
You ask about having strong cell signal, I guess it will drain the batter if you're going in and out of service? Just curious because on my way to and from our shop there is one spot where all phones drop service. It only lasts about 1/8 mile but it happens with every carrier I've tested.
Like someone above said turn off all syncing also keep in mind that phone batteries now dont hold the first 10% of a full charge because that damages the battery in the long run. The first 10% always goes down that fast unless you bump charge which is when you plug in to 100% then unplug and replug for 5 minutes and repeat a few times. If it continues to die like that then try underclocking with setcpu while you have it with screen off or in a phone call also you can undervolt. Turn off auto syncing and check to see what proccesses you have running that eat your battery and kill them.

How long does the battery last to an almost full discharge? I had the same problem when I flashed a new ROM and tried calibrating the battery as you did (deleting battery stats file). I'd unplug my phone after a full chatge and 30mins later would be down to below 90%.
Turns out that deleting the battery stats file may not do anything to our phone in terms of calibration, and the way to calibrate it is by doing a battery pull for half an hour or so. Then just using the phone, and the battery eventually calibrates itself. Can't remember the link where I read this, but after doing that and after a couple weeks of usage, the first 10% drop wasn't so dramatic. I currently get a day with an average of 3-4 hour screen on time. Using the same ROM that seemed to give me problems in the first place.
Also like someone else mentioned, phone signal is a huge factor in battery usage. One of the cell towers went down where I live, and during those 7 days (yeah, thanks sprint!), my phone would constantly jump back and forth off of roaming... battery life would tank so quickly that I turned off data/3G/4G to get any semblance of battery life.

Don't think this is the same thread you mention, but here's one on battery calibration. I might give it a try, figure it can't hurt anything.

Am I the only one who can squeeze 4 days out of their e4gt? That's with texting fairly often, emails, downloading an app or two, and checking my facebook once a day or so.
I unplug my phone at 8:30am and get home at 6:00pm and I'm at 60%. That's with 1 hr reading and some texting, compared to my Evo my S2 is a god sent.

[UPDATE 05/04][DAY 5+6][REVIEW] 3500 mAh extended battery

Update: As stated in one of my posts, I will be posting updates one a day for the first week, one every two days for the rest of the first month, and then one a week (hopefully every Sunday) for the rest of the months. Look forward to it
Review of 3500 mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy S II
Changelog:
Code:
05/04/12 - Updated with Days 5 & 6
03/04/12 - Updated with Day Three and Day Four
01/04/12 - Updated with Day Two
I bought an extended battery (3500 mAh) from eBay for about $7 CAD, and it finally arrived the day before yesterday.
When I put it into my phone it was already at 74%. After charging it overnight, I started using it the next day at around 7:30 AM.
Before I post the screenshots of my extended battery (Edit: if anyone is wondering, data is usually always on, and brightness is set to Auto), let's have a look at the original stock 1650 mAh Samsung battery life:
Stock Samsung 1650 mAh Battery:

With some simple math, at 9% remaining, this would have lasted me just over 7 hours before reaching 0%.
Conditions of usage: As you can see, I like to use my phone a lot with 76% screen time . I barely used my data/wifi. Data was on but not active, and most of the screen time was spent on Moon+ Reader.
Time lasted: On an average day, (I use data a lot and I play games) I would get about 5 h 45 min or less out of my phone. As you can see from the screenshots above, this wasn't really an average day so it lasted longer, which is reasonable as I did not use data very much.
ROM info: Westcrip's Resurrection Remix ICS Pro 1.0 with the kernel that comes with it.
Now let's compare this with the battery life of the 3500 mAh battery.
3500 mAh Extended Battery
Day 1 [30/03/12]:
Time lasted: A whopping 9 hours 20 minutes.
Conditions of usage: As you can see I was connected to wifi most of the time, and unlike the previous screenshots, I was using wifi/data a lot. I don't know why it says screen time is only 28% though because as you can see in the second picture I had "screen on" a lot.
A charge cycle has Battery Monitor reporting this battery's estimated/measured mAh to be 3074 mAh.
Only 500 mAh difference from advertised capacity, but not bad for $7, if I do say so myself. And this is only the first charge/discharge cycle, so I expect an increase in a couple days.
ROM info: AOKP (bezke's), with Siyah Kernel for ICS beta 7.
Day Two [31/03/12]:
This is the result of the second day of using the extended battery:
Time lasted: 8 hours and 30 minutes.
Conditions of usage: Now as you can probably tell I've used my phone a lot more today, with screen on at 40%. I had a lot of free time, so I was pretty much constantly on my phone, using data and also listening to music (through external speakers just below medium volume). Still not bad compared to stock battery. Data was always on, and brightness set to auto, and music was playing through the speakers for about under two hours.
ROM info: AOKP (bezke's), with Siyah Kernel for ICS beta 7.
Day 3 [01/04/12]:
Now a bit of a funny/interesting story here. First, let's see the screenshots and I'll explain:
Seems pretty standard here. But I decided to turn off wifi and data and keep using it a bit, just for texting and reading ebooks. And when the screen was off, I managed to get it into ~97% deep sleep. So, this was the final result before the battery died.
Almost a whole extra hour usage, and here is CPU Spy's report on Deep Sleep. However, this is not standard. If you're like me, you like using your phone a lot. So we won't count this last screenshot.
Time lasted: 9 hours and 6 minutes.
Conditions of usage: Standard again as usual, but screen time is a bit higher. Unfortunately as a user requested I forgot to take a screenshot of the screen time. I will do it for the next day though. In the meantime, get out your calculator, haha.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N-ICS (AOKP), with latest codeworkx kernel.
Day 4 [02/04/12]:
This is the fourth day result.
Screen time screenshot included as requested.
Time lasted: 7 hours 35 minutes.
Conditions of usage: Today's usage was not very standard at all. I used data almost constantly today, and played around with Cerberus which also consumed a bit of battery life through the GPS and data/wifi. Phone got pretty hot through the constant usage which I hear drains battery faster. I also watched some videos and flash videos too.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N-ICS (AOKP), with NEAK 2.0.1 kernel.
Day 5 [03/04/12]:
Unfortunately there won't be any screenshots for today. My phone crashed and somehow the battery usage got reset, so there's no point. There will still be a report for today as per usual of course.
Time lasted: From 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, the battery lasted me about 9 hours.
Conditions of usage: Not much to say really. Conditions were normal, and so was the time the battery lasted. ~9 hours, occasionally less, seem to be becoming standard.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N ICS (AOKP) with SiyahKernel v3.0rc2.
Day 6 [04/04/12]:
Here's the report for Day 6. And as you will see, wow, the results aren't standard at all. Also included is Battery Monitor's report on the measured mAh along with details for Screen time.
Time lasted: 7 hours and 2 minutes.
Conditions of usage: 7 hours isn't very standard at all. It's a pretty wide deviation from the norm, but my explanation for this is that I was very very bored. As you can see from the "Screen" time, it says 48% but I actually used it for 5 hours and 6 minutes, which is an astounding 72.5% of screen on time. I amaze myself sometimes. So data was always on but not constantly active, and I played some flash videos and even a flash game, and I was testing out GPS on HyDrOG3N ICS (which sucked at getting a lock-on) so all these factors drained my battery. I also watched some videos on my phone as well.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N ICS (AOKP) with SiyahKernel v3.0rc2.
So in conclusion:
This battery seems well worth it. I am very satisfied with the battery life, and if you are a person who likes to play with his phone a lot (games, Reddit all day, browse the internet), then I recommend this phone as it will last you a good amount of time without needing a charge.
I will be continuing to post updates and screen shots this week as I continue using this battery. Subscribe and look forward to it!

thank you for the update on this. i am quite convinced now not to buy batteries from china
I bought one of these 3500mah batterys for $8.5 from Dealextreme and I am really happy.
My usage at work at times would be consistent to the point of telling the time by the battery percentage so I had a good baseline comparison test to do.
Under the stock battery running the FM Radio for 4 hours with no other use (I work midnights so no calls or anything) would consistently drain 21% of my battery.
With the 3500 it only drains 10% in the same time.
That works out to the battery working as advertised, slightly of double battery life for a battery that is slightly over double size.
It looks good for now, but please come back with a review in 3 months and we'll see how it fares
What's the font used here?
I'm using an extended 3500mah Spider-Foot since in August 2011.
My battery monitor measures it between 3100 to 3200 mAh. After 8 months of use I'm pretty happy. Costed $10 -
Maybe I'm missing the point why I should buy a 10x priced battery with approx same capacity?
Does it increase phone speed?
Well there must be a reason but I haven't figured it out yet.
Original post updated with day 2!

I will! I guess since you asked, I'll have constant updates for three months.
I plan to do one a day for a week, and then maybe one every two days for the rest of the month, and then do one a week for the remaining months.

Thats why im asking how long. % doesnt really mean anything. Click the screen when you are viewing the battery stat. It should tell you how long it has been one for.
Well I just checked, and the percentage corresponds with the number of hours I've been on battery. No seriously, I went ahead and did some math and it was pretty close to the actual screen time value I get when I click it
So while I don't have a screenshot of screen time for Day 2, by my calculations, with 8 and a half hours and 40% screen on time, the actual number of hours is about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Either your battery isnt calibrated or the battery is crap when compared to:

Or I guess it could just be something else.

Look at how little time his phone is awake and his screen is on. That's maybe like 5% total out of 5 days, which is about 6 hours total. My phone gets that in one day if I'm really bored so it's still about the same amount of drain.
I use my phone a lot, as my sole entertainment device. Games, movies, Internet, whatnot. My usage is more realistic than his, however impressive 5 days is. I'm sure if I barely touched my phone I would have the same results. (97% deep sleep is usually achievable unless I'm using it)

No UC or UV
Brightness at 30%
Wifi + data(2G) always on
Im only using my phone for tapatalk, web browsing, facebook, twitter + some youtube so my cpuspy showed that im on 500mhz most of the time...
5 hour of 500mhz and 5 hour of 1200mhz gonna make a huge difference even the screen on time is the same...

Bought two extra batteries for my GS3 and

So today, with pretty heavy usage (at work...checking facebook, twitter, email, web, texting, maybe 15 mins of youtube) I ran through all 100% of my Samsung 2100mah battery from 7:30am until 1:30pm. And I put my 100% fully charged third-party 2200mah battery in right after and now it's at 40% by now.
Unbelievably how terrible the battery life is with the S3.
This is with wifi turned off. with GPS and bluetooth turned off. with not a ton of apps running in the background.
So 1.6 fully charged batteries in 10 hours of occasional use. Wow.
The battery life is like 95% the only reason why I miss my iPhone.
ps. yes I've done the fully charging and fully discharging thing with these batteries.
That's either a bad device or something rogue is running. You are one of the few with that bad of battery.

I have no idea what in the hell it is.
I am rooted, running CyanogenMod 10.
I forgot I had music playing for part of the day, and some internet streaming radio (at like 48kbps).
Either way. 160% battery life cycle in 10 hours of sort of heavy usage is nuts.
In the morning I'll be just reading news on Flipboard and Pulse with brightness at like 60% and running wifi, no GPS running, with no huge apps in the background and it can go from 100% to 90% in like 30 minutes of reading news.
Could be a bad device or maybe some garbage running in the background. I get 14+ hours of average use out of my device.
I usually go by screen time. I get about 4.5 to 5 hrs on a charge with Sync on andeeverything. Running tasks Aokp jellybean

Seeing posts like this make me want to order that battery. Probably will this weekend.
Okay, I know comparing battery stats is almost pointless but I will finally share my experience.
I am a copier technician. I work roughly 8-10hr days. I am literally constantly on my phone. Why? Because I use OTG USB A LOT. My usb flash drive is connected to my phone from the time I get to my first service call, to the time I get in my truck to drive home. I use OTG because I have to use different service manuals through out the day. So I am constantly accessing my flash drive for at least 45 minutes, each hour, every hour until my day is done. By the time I get home, I am down to about 30% or so, give or take 5% maybe. I use it at home to browse XDA until it just about dies. Charge it all night, than do it all again the next day. By the way, on my way to and from work, I play music in my truck. So roughly I get 10-14hrs out of my stock battery.
I have 58 apps installed. And Adobe Reader and sometimes that stock PDF doc viewer bloat is constantly running because my service manuals are pdf.
IDK.... There are so many threads/posts about battery life. I enjoy my Smartphone to the fullest. Run a ton of apps and and many widgets.
I used to try to do EVERYTHING to increase battery life, task managers, Better Battery Stats, going thru cycles of discharging and charging, wiping batt stats, calibrating battery, (which I still do). Underclocking, messing with voltages, etc etc etc.
It got to the point where I was so concerned about battery life I was missing all the great features of these phones.
I use my phone and all its features to the full potential. I bought a cpl batteries I keep charged around me incase I need them. And Overclock and just enjoy my phone.
Watching my battery life constantly and doing everything thing I can to increase it just took the fun out of of having a Smartphone with all these features.

What I've noticed on my att GS3 is that the battery destroyer without a shadow of a doubt is the LTE/HSPA+ radio. With this on battery drains at least 10% per hour especially with the LH9 update. As a test I shut off only mobile data toggle and the amazing battery life I had with my iPhone 4 returned on a more advanced phone. However, that came at the cost of having to shut off the mobile data connection. Mobile data toggle off all day at work 8+ hours and when I got home battery was like 85%.
I believe the data radio is the culprit and I hope they learn how to optimize its battery usage.
Had the same issue with the stock battery I had for 2 months, where just playing music screen off with about 15 minutes of data drained ~40% of my battery in about 2 hrs. Decided to get a replacment, with the same usage I still had 86% after 2 hours. Battery drop has also gotten worse with LTE on the LH1 update

I'd say you've got a bad battery, or a bad phone, or your ROM is bonked - there's no way you're burning through that much juice with normal operation. Maybe talk to your provider and see if you can swap the handset?
Oh, and discharging/charging your batteries does absolutely nothing. Li+ batteries have no memory, so you don't need to drain them - just use them out of the box and they'll work fine.
Might be a bad device or some garbage may run in the background, my cheap Lvbattery the Extended Battery For the Samsung Galaxy S3 [4500mAh the extend the battery] purchase. Eiemall.com fantastic. Easily over a full day
flashed a different ROM than C9/C10, "Triune 2" and started using the excellent battery/setting tweaks in "Go Power Master" and have noticed a pretty decent improvement.
Mainly by having Power Master turn off wifi/gps/location services while the screen is off, and only having my music/messaging apps running and shutting the rest off.
Highly recommend that app.

but its thicker than the normal battery, so you get a extended back cover with it. sounds awesome but if you (wisely) use a case with your GS3, you'd have to find a different case
