Hi,
My mobile is not showing 32 GB as phone memory but rather it only shows 25.24GB.
the 7GB difference is huge and I was wondering if this is normal and if not, how can i rectify it.
I am using Charmeleon ROM.
Thank you for the advice

Basically yes. Unless you use a very lightweight system. Won't see the stograge change by much though. Either way, this is miles better than the 9gbs the xl people have access to

Just wondering if it is the same on the SIII for example?

Not 7, you have around 2GB for apps too...in the future we will probably be able to cut the system space...

And BTW, if you buy a HDD for you PC with 80GB, you wouldnt have all 80GB,the missing GB are lost by transfer bits into bytes...so our system is using maybe 3GB...
And its the same by gs3 too...

Formating an 32gb sd card will give you ~29gb real storage. And now look at settings->storage->total space...this is a second partition on your sd card. Last one: One some OS's it's calculated with 1mb=1000kb and some OS's or progs using 1mb=1024kb...Win Explorer for example says total 25,2gb space and total commander ~26,5gb.
So...there's nothing wrong with your device.
Even if it was stated as 32gb it will only have 29.5 or 30gb. Just like my 32gb sd card only have 29.4gb

u have 2GB to use it as microsd cart, seems that's virtual partition, so if you see it logicaly i have 1TB disk and it shows me like i have 931GB where the 70GB are at? that's the technique of the disk manufacturers

I know that the mytouch 4g is able to support up to a 32gb microSD card (just ordered one from newegg.com), so perhaps checking with the manufacturer or the carrier to find out the maximum size microsd your card can support.

it's nothing to do with carrier but you can find the limit it supports in the manufacturers specs, however it is not always like that... as the limitation for HTC universal was 2 gb and with great devs here we were able to use card up to 16gb... so ask fellow XDAINS than the manufacturers... and since your device is pretty new model you should be able 32 gb....
Said there are 32gb sd card, but I got one 16 micro sd card.
Thanx Everyone For Your Help!!

Use an 32GB Class 2 SanDisk for my Android HD2. Can't argue (for Class 2): 6MB Write, 15 MB Read.
2TB is the biggest ive seen!
Now that 64gb MicroSD cards are available, will they work on the Desire Z?
Has anyone tried?

Memory for digital cameras is usually SD, while phones use MicroSD.
I wouldn't waste money on it unless I knew for sure. G2/DZ support up to 32gb. Maybe, maybe not. Please do tell if it works

Bumping this back up - has anyone tried 64gb MicroSD yet?
If you don't mind me asking, dafuq r u gonna do with 64 gb of storage?
I have 8gb and I don't even use it all lol.
Mostly music tbh, but also pictures, videos, apps, a couple of full backups. You tend to fill up the space when you have it. I have had to delete files to keep under the 32gb I have at present, so I would use 64gb if available.
I might buy one anyway to use in my next phone if not this one...
When I go on on Quandrant Information on my Galaxy Note 2, I saw 1.75gGB RAM and I was like wtf? I go on System Information and I see Memory- Total:1834220kB, which is 1.75GB.
When I go on the stock Task Manager, and click on the RAM tab, I see xx/1.75GB
I am very confused as we are told the device will have 2GB of ram. Can someone please clarify this? Thanks!
That because its formatted and being used my system.

Its like formatting a storage device it never shows the full amount of GBs
Sent from my SGH-T889
You never ever get to use the full amount in any memory device. Sd cards inside the phone are exactly what they sound like. ....sd cards. If you buy a 32 gb sd card you will notice that you only really get 29 gb of space. Another unknown fact about sd cards that most don't know is that they have their own on board processor. Fact for the day

But ram isn't a sd card. Or is ram in a phone different than that of a pc? I've never heard of having to format ram.

Try directory bind from XDA. I dont have to the link but searching should help. If you can't find it I'll get the link for you.
thank you!!!
Or use the mod that swaps your internel and external memory. You need a kernel that supports it (like Perseus) and if you have a 64gb card your phone will think it has 64gb internal with a 16gb external. That's what I'll do when 128gb cards become available

Hi there,
Just use directory bind, it's extremely easy to use and is free. I moved a lot of my stuff to my micro sd and have over 8 gigs left now on internal. I could free the whole thing but im only installing small apps on the internal now so it should last forever.

Is there some kind of a hardware limitation that note 2 can't use 128gb? because if there isnt it should work fine (hoping ^_^)

So I have the 32gb GN which of course means I really have a 28.13gb GN which apparently is actually 16.13gb because system storage is using 12gb. Is it supposed to take that much? I checked using the disc storage app. If it is this is one of those facepalm moments to Google for not adding an sd slot.

Indeed it is, if only because you didn't use the search function to find any of the multitude of threads on the matter.
