i think its your location, if you use 3G you could connect but if you use 2G you cant, it means your location doesn't have that strong 2G signal compared to your 3G signal. better try it on other places like malls coz they got high 2G signal.

yeah, just choose GSM and no need to change APN. you just need to change your APN when you change Sim Card because every sim got different APN and our phone only views what APN we added on that certain sim hope this helps

Sorry....I hope you mean every provider had different APN.....cos SIM's from same provider do not need new APN...just change if you move to another provider with new SIM.

Unstable HSPDA/3G connection

Hello,
I have a Sony Xperia Arc S with the following configuration:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The preferred network type is "WCDMA preferred
My HSPDA/3G is not working properly.
I'm not sure I have 3g cause it's always saying 'H'.
But that's not the problem. the speed is good enough for me.
The problem is that when i use my 'mobile internet'.
It most of the times load 1 or 2 pages en then it said "Verification with proxyserver failed" or just "page not found".
or sometimes a lot of missing images on webpages, same problem with another browser (I tried Dolphin), and a lot of disconnects with facebook.
Sometimes it happends with the Play Store (market) to.
On wifi there's no problem at all.
I had another rom before (Sorry, can't remember the name) but it was also Android 4.04 with Arknight Kernel and that gave me exactly the same problem.
I did a full system/data/cache/wipe.
Now I use JJhybrid Rom v3.2 With kernel: 2.6.32 9-Doomkernel #5.
I also tried the ping-test I found in in thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660627
But that gives no errors.
It's also NOT a sim-card problem.
I swapped sim cards with a friend and in his phone everything works just fine (not an Arc S)
With his sim-card in my phone. still the same problem.
I also went to my provider and they tried with their sim-card en checked the apn settings.
I also tried flashing different basebands .36 .64 .70 .72 and now on .73 but that makes no difference.
It looks like on 2G everything is working just fine (but it's so sloooow).
I also searched XDA en the internet but I cannot find someone with an SE Xperia Arc S to have this problem.
The weird thing about this, is that a collegue of me also has an Arc S with the same problem.
That arc s is using official SE 4.0.4 ROM (I don't know the exact build, cause the phone is not here).
These phones were bought in a different store with about 3-4 months between them.
Is there something I did wrong with flashing? or something else? Or is this probably a hardware problem?
For the rest, is the phone working great, no other problems at all, no signal loss or stuff.
This problem appeared suddenly, from 1 day to another.
I live in belgium and my carrier (provider) is 'mobistar'.
Thanks in advance!
with kind regards,
Jo
H stands for HSPA, High-Speed Packet Access.
HSPA is 3,5G which is faster version of 3G(UMTS).
HSPA consists of HSDPA and HSUPA, High-Speed Download/Upload Packet Access.
If you see H, then your mobile internet is working correctly.

That is the problem.
I removed proxy from APN settings, and it helped me with market issues (it wouldnt download sometimes). Im using Simobil Vodafone and since proxy was only used to access Vodafone Live!, its quite unnecessery.
to do that, go to Settings > Wireless & networks > more > Mobile networks > Acces Point Names (APNs)
click on the one you use for internet, write down the proxy (in case you need it again), and just remove it. Menu > save, and youre good to go.
If your SP is one of those who block editing APNs, create a new one, and copy everything except proxy.
Im not saying this is sure fix, but since you get proxy errors, removing it may help.
I presume everything is okay on wifi, right?

Thanks a lot! that just solved my problem.
I went multiple times to my carrier shop (mobistar) and they configured a couple of times.
I called about 5 times my customer service and they always told me to put an ip-adress bij PROXY.
I just called my customer service again, to check with them again, and now suddenly they say there have to be nothing in proxy.
Thank you so much for solving my problem!!
have a nice day

Galaxy note 2 (N7100) unable to connect to mobile network

Hi
I bought my galaxy note II 3 days ago, first day it worked fine, in second day the service was lost.
I tried connect to mobile network by Settings/Mobile networks/Network operators
it finding mobile networks but not connecting to him. its wrote "unable to connect, try later"
I changed sim card with another carrier and It's the same thing.
I did Factory data reset, and it still not connected to mobile network.
What can i do? help please.
I had the same kind of issue when I first got my note 2.
I had to wait for my provider to send me a message with the Internet and mms settings for my phone to connect.
Try the "my services" the app in your drawer and get Internet settings from my account. Or you could try calling your provider and getting then to send you the message to install it.

But, the problem that my device not connected to mobile network, so cannot receive data.
I was sent a configuration message via text message which installed the items required.

Cannot send and receive message and cannot call. So the problem not in mobile network configuration, the problem is that device cannot connect to any mobile network.
I bought the note from England, and I am in another country. What can I do with warranty?
No one more than not having a problem?

Yes, it shows a 15-digit IMEI number.
Does your network mode set to 'Auto', if not do that. and still doesn't work then try GSM only
Setting - wireless n Network - mobile network - Network mode.
If you have selected WCDMA and you are not in 3G coverage it can happen.

My issue started once i let WanamLite update the modem. Before that all was fine and dandy.
I tried flashing several stock roms and several modems, no luck.
I also tried a N7105 Rom, no luck either.
People suggest its an EFS issue, reading a bit on that before I do this:

Same here. I bought it new from an authorized dealer. I hate it when I have to bring the the device back to the dealer.
I Found a solution
Hey guys! I'm experiensed with flashing of roms and that king of badass stuff and flashed a sugersonic hd rom yesterday, later on the calling and messaging stuff didn't work and i couldn't connect to the network, then i flashed criskelorom, and now everything is perfect again!
If you are not experiensed with these kind off stuff do research before attempting!

It will never go to 2G unless u loose 3g signal .. don't worry don't be confused about this options .. they are not different and no pure .. it is always same .. when u see H or H+ it means u are using internet network .. when u stop using internet it shows 3G that means H is in stand by .. 3G is like for phoning mode .. once u start using internet or email or only start messing with phone it will auto start H or H+
dont worry it is pure

jesus christ man . u wont get better speed when u choose only .. OMG , u have it wrongly imagined, explained.. completely
there is no difference with speed AT ALL if u choose those your options ..
for first ; if u in certain area with highest 3G signal which is WCDMA (H+) u will get those speeds same it doesnt matter if u have preffered or only.. only means it wont auto upgrade or downgrade signal..! It all depends of area which u within .. if u loose that signal your phone starts look for different signal 3g and if even that is not available then your phone will pick 2g ..
I would also like the option for WCDMA only.

I don't want it because of data speeds per se. T-mobile sometimes has EDGE at a higher power than WCDMA, so it can be helpful to lock it to WCDMA.

What definitely not ! EDGE is 2G class no chance it drains more power ! 3G uses obviously higher bandwidth

If you download "Battery monitor widget" (free version), open it, select TESTS, then network, scroll down a bit and you will see a selection box where you have every network option that the phone can offer. I use this on my Galaxy S4 to force the phone to use 2G only (GSM) to save battery as the option was disabled in the normal phone settings. :good:

I use this on my Galaxy S4 to force the phone to use 2G only (GSM) to save battery as the option was disabled in the normal phone settings. :good:

Yeah I dont like these crap apps .. itis not good I like to set it manually ..
Obviously you dont agrre that app to switch to 2G .. that is very slow internet..
And thing is I use 3 UK mobile network and they dont broadcast 2G just 3G ..
So if I select 2G only in options I obviously loose signal ..
So I dont mind.. I will have still 3G/WCDMA connected..

What definitely not ! EDGE is 2G class no chance it drains more power ! 3G uses obviously higher bandwidth

I'm not talking about power drain, I'm talking about broadcast power. T-Mobile USA have a very strong 2G network that the phone will sometimes select in lieu of the faster WCDMA network. That's why this setting can be useful, and why it's included in just about every Android based phone.

Exactly, that is my point
I dont care that much about the drain , but I know I will have less if I lock it to wcdma only , cause it will stop searching and switching between networks.
This is my case with my carrier, 3G all the way.

N910V No signal in Argentina

Hello everyone,
I bought a Unlocked Note 4 from Verizon in USA. In Argentina I don't have signal. We use GSM so it should work right. I know this device has not root access. I just want to make some calls or messages.
It doesn't let me search network manually. It throws an error "error searching networks"
Android Version: 4.4.4
Network Mode: Global/GSM
Somebody could help me on this.
Thanks in advance.

I am in Europe past month, leaving to us in few days and was using my note4 in GSM mode all the time and switching between carriers on a prepaid sim. I would do factory reset or maybe get a new sim.
My prepaid sim allows roaming on all carriers.

I already flash the mobile with Odin thinking that the Android version might be the problem. It still not getting signal. I'll try with another SIM card.
Did you use others GSM carriers instead of T-Mobile?

I tried with many SIMs, I flashed the device three times and I still having. So maybe there is a another issue. Please someone can help me. How is the Micro SIM should I use?
Which carrier are you using this on? Verizon has always used CDMA for 3G, not GSM. The Verizon Note 4 (SM-N910V) does seem to have limited GSM support, but it might not work on every GSM carrier.
This website seems to be pretty accurate: http://www.willmyphonework.net/
Acording to that page my phone should work perfectly
with 2G, 3G, 4G LTE.
I'm using:
Brand: Samsung
Model: SM-N910V
Country:Argentina
Carrier:Claro Argentina
I don't know what is the problem.:crying:
You may need to add new APN settings before it will work.
On mine, the option to add a new APN is disabled, but I'm actually using mine on Verizon with a Verizon SIM card, so I'd have no reason to edit the APN settings manually. Are you able to edit yours?
I already set the APN and nothing happens. I'm not sure APN could be the problem. Should be something else.

If the APN settings aren't correct, it could absolutely be the problem. It's worth double checking.
APNs
I tried with severals APN and nothing happens.

I have an Oneplus One with the same APN and works perfectly. That's why I think the APNs are not causing the problems of signal. I still having no signal. I cant make neither a call nor send a message.

Hmm sorry bro not sure what is going on.. last thing I could suggest if you have some money to spare try any other sim card from different provider or ask a friend to swap it for a minute or two, anything to test that it's not your carrier somehow not wanting to work with VZW N4.

Hey I read something couple days ago and forgot to get back at you.. I read somewhere if you block activation agent it should work some people on T-Mobile USA had the same issue. Use debloater to block activation agent on boot. They said this could be because the note could never been activated on Verizon even for 30 seconds and this is why it might be happening.
So block activation agent, and setup wizard so it's blocked on EACH BOOT.
Let me know

Have u tried inserting dummy verizon sim?
I do not have any dummy sim from Verison.

2nd SIM losing network when activating 1st SIM data [3.2.7 stock]

I am currently using 2 SIMs.
1. Vodafone 3G
2. Reliance Jio 4G LTE
Now when I set "SIM 1 (Vodafone)" as preferred SIM for Cellular Data, my 2nd SIM loses network.

When I switch it to 2nd SIM, Both SIMs have network.
Anyone else have this issue? Whats the workaround?
I am on Stock 3.2.7 Rooted.
No idea, but u tried switching the Sims around in the sim tray.. maybe one is more suited to 4g than the other!?!

Wow are you sure? If it is then its kind of a serious issue though.
I dont understand how it can be network related though?

yes im sure. just switch the sim cards. put vodafone in sim 2 and jio in sim 1. now activate the jio for cellular network. if the problem is with phone or rom, the 2nd sim should lose network right? but it doesnt. it works fine. this problem is only seen with jio.
and i had the same issue while using in asus phone with other jio sim card and airtel

So putting Vodafone in SIM 2, and then using Vodafone as preferred cellular data won't drop Jio's network? You tried this?

i've tried that too. it will drop the network.. jio needs to be chosen for cellular data to get network.
so its nothing related to phone or rom.

But I dont get it still. We are choosing "Preferred Cellular Data" when data is turned on. Why does the whole network is lost just for choosing "preferred" option? How can this be network related.
Any ROM experts around?

the reason behind this is jio doesnt have gsm or wcdma networks yet like other network operators. so it has to use lte for both data and calls. i hope u know how calls over lte work.
check the link below for explanation http://indianexpress.com/article/technology/tech-news-technology/reliance-jio-4g-volte-technology-heres-how-voice-calls-will-work/

You are not getting what I am saying.
I am not saying Jio should use GSM.
We are setting up "Preferred Cellular Data" which when turned on, it should use either Jio/Vodafone. We are not activating GSM network mode on Jio SIM. The thing you are saying is:
Edit: I understood what the problem is from other forum. Thanks for your input

Yeah I did not know that in our phone we can only use 1 SIM active as data and other can not be used.
Thanks for your input.
When I roam around remote areas with weak Signal zone , I did experience what you are saying ... switching data and other sim signals would vanish . So I use to disable data first and later turn it on that way signals would stay . I.e.
Disable data
Switch sim data
Turn on data .
P.s. Everyone network has a fallback even if we don't use LTE ,networks fallback to device / network supported typed

Just for your info it has nothing to do with OP3 or any custom rom, It's JIO which h is an all time 4G network.
So when u chose data on any simcard apart rom the JIO the 4G band shifts to that particular sim be it idea Voda airtel, JIO will loose network as the band on that slot is 2g/3g.

no one can resolve.
ok,
faced same issue in my oneplus 3,
and it is there in every phone, and no one cant resolve it.
actually jio use its data network to make call, receive call and send sms, so if you change your network connection to any other sim, it will lose all its services.
so if you want to use both sim, your data connection must be connected with jio sim.
