Btw prepare for flameage from our wonderful xda hypocrite brethren. No one on here likes open ended questions.

darkside's digital warfare imho....could get a day & a half with moderate use easily. really though, anything with gingerbread should last you at least the day with this phone

I'd say the ROM doesn't particularily matter in regard to battery life. As long as you have a rooted rom, your best bet would be to use a CPU tuner to underclock your device using usage profiles for maximum battery life.
For gb i found juggernaut and synergy. Ics kernel development is underway though so we will find out soon enough. I believe tdj released his tmobile build with venom kernel.

Darkside all the way. On ics and in gb too

TDJ roms
I have tried so many roms and always ended up installing/restoring TDJ roms.
either GB or ICS, his roms are always fast, functional and smooth daily drivers IMO.
you can't go wrong with TDJ roms. give it a try.
I suggest juggernaut for gb. It gave me on average 16-19 hrs of battery life. Darkside is really good to for ics. Although for me it hasn't given me such great battery as juggernaut. BeastMOD 5.0 is another one that in my book give the BEST battery life. I could go more then a day with moderate use.i miss it:/ lol

Any of the CM7 based roms by Eugene or Beastmod 4.0 by Melvin.
Its very subjective based on your phone, kernal used and how you use your phone. I have seen the best battery life with TDJ roms and now recently I am running Chimeria vs Hercules and batter life is pretty good.

So ive been bouncing around from rom to rom and I'm wondering wat rom is everyone using as a daily???? .. I'm a prime XL Guy and love tha rom as my daily but the battery life is way better on cm7 with tiamat or savaged ... trying to find the best rom/kernel combo for battery life... I love sense for the bells and whistles but love asop because of the battery life.... hmmmmm.. decisions decisions....

MIUI. It's pretty, has nice built in apps including an awesome theme manager (no social networking though, if you're into that), and you still get great battery life. It's not bloated, but I find it to be the intermediate between Sense and your typical AOSP roms. I've been running one version or another of it for almost a year.
Supersonic Evo 4G | MIUI | Tapatalk
My custom made cm7.2 kanged and compiled from source is my daily now, prior to that was my own modded version of decks 1.3 for sense mikg 3.0 or the classic and ics my compiled and frankensteined cm9 I have it on my evo and my kindle fire

I've been running the express beta for about a month now. Fast, relatively bug free, and I can get 2 full days out of my extended battery.
Edit: and it has 4G, wouldn't run a ROM without that...
Thanks for the replies.... I've tried the classic v005 and like it a lot... even tho its sense 1.0 it works.... was going to try the final RC mix rom from Jan 24th with the anthrax kernel v4 and see how it goes .. hopefully I get great performance as well as battery life.... since I'm a heavy user lol

Galnet Miui on desire HD. I flash the weeklies. Always wait a few days though. Sometimes a weekly is bad.
what currently is the best Ics rom in terms of battery life?

The newer the build, the better. Current is fc18.

I was running the CM9 experimental, but battery life was awful. I'm now running FC15 EpicTouchAOSPmod ICS, and battery life is MUCH improved. Thread Here
Not that I've done a lot of testing, but it seems Caulkin's ROMs that undervolt the CPU seem to have good battery life.
I imagine other ROMs also do this, but I've only used Caulkin.
10 people can give you 10 answers. It's very true that your mileage may vary. Like the guy a few posts ago said he didn't have good battery on CM9 but I find the battery on cm9 to be great.
your best bet is to flash something you're interested it, give it 2-3 charge cycles for the battery to settle in then see how it lasts for you after that. As a general rule, you can't accurately judge battery life until its gone through a few cycles first.
I'm running calks e4gt 2v1.2 which is fc 18 and battery life is great so far.

Mijj ics ROM is hands down the best and keeps the most recent updates to every leak rolling in.....you should try it out asap!!!!!

Best battery life so far is FC18 stock rooted. Just flashed Calk's ROM for FC18 a few minutes ago so we'll see how that goes.
MIJJZ Blend "Goodness" 2.5 with stock kernel is smooth as butter and has had good battery life for me

I'm using Calk's 1.2 rom on fc18 (which just dropped today) and battery life has significantly improved for me personally

Sorry I know these are annoying. But i havent been in the E4GT forums since I got my S3. I just gave my GF my old E4GT ad it has the stock 4.0.4 ROM. So far she has gotten 6 hours of moderate use out of it. I know i got alot better at one point in time many roms were using KOBRIDGE's tweaks that seemed to help significantly. I was just wandering through a few roms and havent seen it mentioned or much for battery life. A girl is going to be using it so I was just wondering what mostly stable ROM has the best battery.
Thanks folks.

Hope we can finally get some good battery life, mine dies fast!
There really is no "best" rom, it depends alot on your usage, the kernel you choose, what tweaks and settings you decide to use, and all all around personal preference. Alot of people complain about battery on ics but I've been using aokp since tcp started porting it and my battery is just as good or better than it ever was when I ran GB, but its all about how I set it up and my usage, plus every single device is different and responds different to each rom/kernel/setting combo, even tho they are the same model phone.

Hey guys, just take a poll as to what your daily driver is. Which ROM you have running the most. You can only pick one. Thanks for your time!
Lol. For the past week, I've been flashing a ROM a day. I wish there was that perfect ROM like Juggernaut 2.3.6 . It had AOKP with MIUI addons and a load of other stuff

Ive tried all the major ones, and for ICS based ROMS Jedi Mind Trick v7/v8 and TDJ's ROMS have been the best. That said, after a few days on ANY ICS ROM Ive tried I start getting anomalies that make it frustrating, so for now Im back on Darkside Digital Warfare 2.7. That seems to be my go-to ROM and I have never had one issue with it. I sacrifice a little snappiness, but for me its flawless and bulletproof.
AOKP fan here. I had the milestone 6 for the longest time.
Just trying out JMT since last week until AOKP-JB becomes stable.
Jedi Mind trick is my favorite but I was loving clones and drones when I was on it both are fast and stable

I've been using the latest CM10 nightlies by EricWill ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852105 ) updating almost daily and its been great. Got a few SODs but its mostly been in the morning before I head out and a quick restart as I get in my car is sufficient. Aside from that small bug it's been great with me
Darkside Evolution 3v8! Easily the Rom of the year. Version 4 isn't a slouch either.

Telus ICS Stock Rom for now
I've tried 4-5 roms since i bought my phone 4 weeks ago... and i'm always coming back to my nand backup of my stock rom because there'S always small things i'm not happy with every roms i tried...
Jedi knight 2... One of the best UI with SIII addons but got Launcher freezes 5-6 times a day for 30 seconds...
Clones and Drones... AccuWeather bugs on Lockscreen... ask in Celcius but got temp in Farenheit even with the small C besides and always show wrong city...
Koodo v.4.0.4 v3... this one was almost perfect for me but have poor data speed with Fido on 4G
Jedi mind Tricks V8 ... poor battery life...
But gonna continue to try others and coming back if there's new version of what i already tried...
thanks to all devs for the good work...

If you want the latest software, most stable, and best battery life ROM, go with MMuzzy's AOSP ROM. Using it now, and its amazing

ROMs themselves rarely ever have an actual impact on battery life. Most postive effects for battery come from the kernel, and negative ones from rogue apps.
Before you ask which kernel offers the best battery, it really depends on the requirements of the user and the phone itself. You'll just have to try a few.

How do I switch out the kernel. I'm kind of a noob at this stuff...

Flash it like you would a ROM. Make sure you find one that is for the version of android your ROM is based on. I would suggest tying Franco kernel, but there are many good ones.

FYI....this thread goes in general.
Flash kernel in cwm the same as you would have a rom. Be sure to clear cache/dalvik first.
For the moment the ROM with the best battery life is SlimRoms 2.7

I've tried many ROMs and Kernels with no success in the battery life department.
My phone charger died so I downloaded an app...Easy Battery Saver...my phone was still at 34% after 1 day and 7 hours. I was NOT heavily using my phone but still this is the best battery life I have ever experienced. I was always on the "battery saver apps are useless" team until recently.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still flashing
Just love my new app.
i tried miui, pa, vicious, aopk, smooth, and now using cm10. tried out different kernals too,but at the end, all the roms cant pass 1hr 50mins of screen time.

Hmm.. thats strange. I'm on MMuzzy's ROM which is pure AOSP and I get around 2 and a half hours of screen time. And some people around the forums have gotten around 5 hours of screen time with different combinations of ROMS and Kernels.
I have tried numerous roms, if not all of them for the galaxy nexus, and there is a difference between roms, even using the same kernel.
I have been getting amazing battery life using Eclipse.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
The mods can move this thread, but in the mean time, it is a good question.
I used to get some awesome battery life. VZW + 2100mah. Typically 4 hours screen on time was normal.... now I'm lucky to get 1hr. I can't remember if it was the jelly bean update or the inclusion of Google Now.
Does letting the ROM settle really help? I have been getting terrible battery life out of my 2100mah. The battery just drains when the screen is off. No rogue apps, but this is a fresh install as of 24 hours ago
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I believe use what you like as long as you use Lean Kernel you should get good battery life.

I wasn't going to put my 2 cents in but because there are so many complaints about this being in the wrong place, I just have to now.
I have tried many different ROM's and kernels and found there always seems to be the "right" combination sooner or later. Right now I am on AOKP w/Franco M6 and getting about 14 hours with 24% battery left, 2.5 hours screen time, mostly LTE and moderate phone use, best I have seen of any combo for me on this ROM. For CNA the right kernel for me was lean kernel. A little experimentation and patience and you will find that sweet spot soon enough.
Edit: the whining drew me to it, sucked me in so I couldn't stop myself from answering
If someone can get 4+ hours screen with mostly 3G, let me know. haha.
Wrong section
However as for battery life slim ROMs work great but I'm on jbsourcery built in trinity and I've definitely had worse d: the only ROM I've used that's had has battery is pa however they've had multiple updates since then so I'm sure its not horrible now

2 things here:
1) OP, wrong section. Questions belong in their own section, the Q&A section. Development is reserved for Roms, kernels, tweaks, etc.
2) If you guys see something posted in the wrong section, report it. No need to get in an internet gang war about it. Us mods have a life too and we can not be here 24 hrs a day to watch over you. When you hit the report button, we see it.
