did you restore your back up with titanium back up? I have heard of people ahving issues with MMS after switching from 2.1 to 2.2 and then doing a full titanuim back upr restore.
I personally have avoided this so by by selecting restore all but then going down the lsit and unchecking 2.1 specific settings/apps (it gtalk_update 2.1 checkin_service2.1 etc etc)
if this sounds like your problem i would reflasha nd restore trying the method above. then reboot phone once and try
I didnt restore anything with titanium. I just downloaded everything off the market again. Any ideas? It says its sending and just goes on enlesly
EDIT: i had installed handcent and deleted the stock messanger that came with the rom. That was a bad idea lol. Reinstalled stock sms/mms program and its all good now

I used SMS Backup today from market and was wondering if it would be able to restore the txt from ECO5 sms app to the gingerbread EG22 app?
I tried but now the app just freezes and shows no msgs
EDIT: nevermind. Turns out you just gotta go into CWM and wipe cache and dalvik. works fine =)
anyone know how to retrieve the sms data from a nandroid??
App Extractor

Idk if it works if your restoring SMS/MMS data from a CM10 ROM to a TW ROM and vice versa but it definitely works if your nandroid is a TW based ROM and your current ROM is also TW based

Just use SMS backup and restore to backup before switching roms. That's what I used when switching to the S3 and when flashing roms on the E4GT.

+1 on the SMS Backup/Restore, there are a few on the market...
What I do is use titanium back up to back up the data and later restore the data only, not sure if this works from TW to AOSP though...have not tried it, yet.

With Titanium, when you restore the data, does that include contacts and apps as well?

Yea but if you add contacts via your Google account you may get doubles.
Titanium Backup also has a great backup/restore option for SMS and MMS, works regardless of the ROM you are on and the ROM you are restoring to

Wasn't sure of that, reason why I didn't respond earlier. Thanks for clearing it. I usually don't flash AOSP roms...

I have just successfully extracted sms and mms from nandroid (CWM) backup.
Backed up system was CM7 and restored to CM10 on Milestone2.
I used Titanium Backup (need the pro version for 'extract from nandroid') and restored 'Phone/Messaging Storage'.
So i just upgraded to Dougshells AOKP rom and its working awesome.
Only issue i am having is that there isnt a "contacts" application.
If i use Titanium backup to restore my "contacts" from ICS will that harm anything?
My contacts wont even sync from google.
Am i missing the stock "Contacts" App?

Do you flash gapps? If not well flash the latest JB gapps and you will be fine.
Do not use your ICS contacts backup in JB ROMs.

I Did Flash Gapps, and it was for JB. But now im wondering if it is missing the contacts folder for some wack reason.
I'm running Quantum v3 and Kt (tried to Qkernel 12/08) as kernel and found that my SMS messaging native app stop sending once I restore from my SMS backup & restore app. Tried using other SMS apps but get same results
For everything to be OK I have to wipe all data and restore again.
Anny guess?? Is an issue with restoring sms ??

With 4.4 sms backup and restore requires you to set the sms backup and restore app as default. Make sure after your restore you go into your settings and change your default messaging app back to messages or hangouts.
Resolved, it was a carrier issue.
thanks
