ICS Not Able To Access Certain Website. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Guys! I'm loving my new phone running CM9.
I noticed ICS can not access certain https web sites. No matter what browser I run.
For example:
https://members.premiereinteractive...et=http://www.coasttocoastam.com/member/auth/
Is a login page from premierinteractive to sign into listen to a popular radio show Coast to Coast AM. Before ICS my sgs2 running gingerbread had no issue going to that page. Does anyone have a solution, or do I need to just live with it?

Yep, still wouldn't work. I think it has something to do with the length of the URL. I'm no programmer but somewhere in ICS its not allowing the site to load. It loads just fine with any browser on my wife's 3g Vibrant. I was able to get it to load prior to the ICS upgrade. I'll try the Opera browser.

Yep! That did it! Opera is the KING! I normally wouldn't use Opera, im a Dolphin fan boy myself. However I've been using the Google Chrome browser recently and I'm amazed how quick it is.

KeyChain
I might be wrong but it sounds like an SSL issue with ICS's KeyChain API.
In ICS Google has unified all cert/credential management and key exchange into a single API called KeyChain. Any browser which uses its own method of cert management would be exempt from the issue. As far as a fix, if it is KeyChain there is a way to alter the certs list but not without some work in android.security.KeyChain.

Is there a way to set the user agent to desktop *permanently* on the stock browser? Or do I have to use maxthon or some other browser? Thx

Actually thats why i created this thread b/c its not persistent. its only active per session. once you close the browser you have to do it again and again....... why can't we just disable "mobile view" permanently? so lame.
he want permanent desktop view.

Your OP didn't specify that you wanted it permanent, all you asked was if it was possible to change it.I haven't had any issues with Dolphin Browser HD freezing up at all & I have Desktop as my UA String & I use Dolphin Browser as my primary browser and use it quite heavily.
Your right about it being lame,I think it should be a option in the default settings.

I guess no one wants to take advantage of this high res screen and see web pages like they are meant to be? Who wants to view web pages in mobile view on a phone like this?

Gotta throw in a bump on this one...really shocked this hasn't been one of the first mods to have been sorted out for this device.
I modded the browser source and compiled it if anyone is interested in it. Persistent ua string and a whole slew of options not normally visible. Require root and 4.0.3.

That's phenomenal...where might I try out this mod?
EDIT: nevermind, found your post in the other thread! Will check it out, cheers! (btw hopefully some more folks will take notice of your work, and ideally it would be great if your mod would get a sticky on this forum, given that it should be one of the very first mods that a GN owner would want!)

Chrome has become my daily browser since I started using Dolphin with my Nexus One.
With the last update for Chrome and FF09, it's the smoothest browser I've used on Android. However, there are still instances where scrolling is jerky and sometimes scrolling stops working for half a minute. It seems like it only happens when I try to scroll while a page hasn't finished loading, but all of the browsers I've tried seem to have issues with scrolling an incomplete page. Closing and reopening the tab will fix the jerky scrolling.
Chrome also freezes on me forcing me to force stop it through settings -> applications. I cannot reliably reproduce this problem and it is annoying, but the benefits of having access to the open tabs on my computer on my phone outweigh this problem.
I do wish Google would iterate the Chrome beta app as fast as they iterate the desktop version of Chrome beta because I'm assuming they mean for this browser to become to default one on Android and jerky scrolling and freezes is pretty bad.
I absolutely do not know which Chrome people are using that they find "buttery smooth" and "fast". It is a terrible laggy and crappy browser on my end. The last update killed it for me where it only launches to a white screen and just freezes. If and when it does decide to work properly, it's stutters and jib-jabs when scrolling, no flash, just all around terrible. No wonder it's surname is still BETA.
Dolphin browser (mini or HD) puts it to shame, really.
You can also try firefox... It's very smooth, and untill now, I didnt find any problem
I like it but I never use it. No flash is... well, no flash. No plugin support like the rest of em either. you'd think with google being the og devs for android. Could make it all work out.

AOSP browser from ICS on N7 ?

Does anyone think it would be possible to install the default browser from ICS? The jelly bean browser is lacking the very useful and important "read" function that I loved do much.
I tried to copy the browser from my evo lte, but it only crashes.

Did you change to the proper permissions? Did you disable the browser sync app?

Wow
Looks very useful
Thing is,.I've NEVER.seen that. Ever. Anywhere.
only thing even close that I've seen is pressing menu> dance for offline reading. i have never seen what is described there at all.
Is that a feature built into a certain OEMs included browser? Cuz it's certainly not on my gnex on stock aosp.
Maybe I'll need to go back to ics again just to make sure i am not losing my mind lol. Which i probably am.....
Hmmm, well I know it's on my htc evo 4g lte, so maybe it's only htc phones?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Correct, that is a functionality within the sense browser. Not the stock ICS browser.
Is HTC violating the GPL by not releasing the source for their modified browser? Or is that source available somewhere?

Okay I looked around a little bit, and found some article saying if I was running a stock t Mobile ROM they can track it but if I'm running a stock rooted rOM they probably wouldn't be able to track it. But I'm still not sure.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
hey if you are not rooted then they can track you. But if you are rooted then you can use titanium backup to freeze tethering manager or tethering provisions ithink it is called in ics. Most custom roms have that disabled so you dont have to worry about it. But it also seems that since they came out with the new unlimited 4g that they figured out a way to do it even if you have that tethering manager frozen not sure how but they figured it out. Given some time someone here will figure out how to get around that too. they kick us in the balls we kick them back. Right now if the method above does not work because it seems to work for some people then they catch on or whatever also if you dont have unlimited 4g then it might work with no problem but if it doesnt the only way I have found around it is to use google chrome on your pc then go to the chrome store and get an app called user agent spoofer I think it is called and it allows you to change your user agent so you can use chrome but it will think you are using IE or firfox or iphone or android. So what you do is set it to android then you trick them into thinking that you are using your phones browser but you are really using it o nyour pc. Now unfortunatly this has some drawbacks like if you try to use netflix it will not let you or pandora it wants you to download the app but of corse you cant because it is a pc. so anything with flash really wont work. But if you are in a jam and need the web then it will work.

[Q] Keyboard Not Popping Up

I'm having a weird issue in that I can't input text on a particular website (MyMathLab - it's where I do my math homework). The site lets me log in and click on links, but when I get logged in and pull up the math problems, I click in the box where you're supposed to enter text, the cursor blinks, but the keyboard no longer pops up for me to type anything. I'm using Swiftkey, but I also have (and have tried to use) google keyboard and hackers keyboard.
I used to be able to do my homework on this site using my phone, but I'm not sure why the keyboard, regardless of which one I use, no longer pops up. I spoke to a rep from the site who says nothing has been updated recently and the site is supposed to be optimized for mobile. Anyone have any suggestions?
Its probably cos the site might have been updated and no longer supports smartphone keyboards. I know that cos I also do homework on my maths. And can't do stuff on my phone. If its not that then maybe you need a new browser and flash player. I suggest Mozilla Firefox or Google chrome. Hope it helps.

I've tried all the available browsers. I bet it is the site - the guy I talked to didn't seem too sure of himself when he said there hadn't been any updates.
Just an update in case anyone runs into this - the FlashFox browser fixed this issue for me.
You can right away.
