Chrome has become my daily browser since I started using Dolphin with my Nexus One.
With the last update for Chrome and FF09, it's the smoothest browser I've used on Android. However, there are still instances where scrolling is jerky and sometimes scrolling stops working for half a minute. It seems like it only happens when I try to scroll while a page hasn't finished loading, but all of the browsers I've tried seem to have issues with scrolling an incomplete page. Closing and reopening the tab will fix the jerky scrolling.
Chrome also freezes on me forcing me to force stop it through settings -> applications. I cannot reliably reproduce this problem and it is annoying, but the benefits of having access to the open tabs on my computer on my phone outweigh this problem.
I do wish Google would iterate the Chrome beta app as fast as they iterate the desktop version of Chrome beta because I'm assuming they mean for this browser to become to default one on Android and jerky scrolling and freezes is pretty bad.
I absolutely do not know which Chrome people are using that they find "buttery smooth" and "fast". It is a terrible laggy and crappy browser on my end. The last update killed it for me where it only launches to a white screen and just freezes. If and when it does decide to work properly, it's stutters and jib-jabs when scrolling, no flash, just all around terrible. No wonder it's surname is still BETA.
Dolphin browser (mini or HD) puts it to shame, really.
You can also try firefox... It's very smooth, and untill now, I didnt find any problem
I like it but I never use it. No flash is... well, no flash. No plugin support like the rest of em either. you'd think with google being the og devs for android. Could make it all work out.

Yes the problem is that with flash enable, the available memory is gone making the phone so slow to scroll etc.Its a memory management problem
Agree, we have far too little useable ram, and the browser is using way too much.
Opening pocketnow.com uses 120mb ram on jpa, it causes a fc and memory dump.
We barely have 120mb useable to begin with!
Very very annoying... Time to start posting on samsung facebook page

Flash is not the problem. I don't think any sane person runs Flash "always on" on the galaxy s unless they enjoy feeling frusterated.
With flash off, scrolling is pretty bad, pinch to zoom is pretty bad. It varies from pretty good to terrible.
I don't like my phone being whooped by a 9 month old Nexus One in terms of browsing performance, when mine has better specs!!!
Maybe Opera Mobile, which is coming out this month, is the solution. Opera browsers are always very very fast.
Also, has anyone hands-on experience with the Galaxy Tab? How is the browser performance there?
I hope that Opera will be good. Thing is, the Froyo browser should be absolutely amazing on this phone but Samsung screwed it over. Hopefully Cyanogen can take care of it.

the only thing I use ROM manager for is to backup a ROM. It'll reboot into recovery, backup the ROM, then revolts when its done. You can install .zips from it. It does have ROMs available to download but its scarce. XDA site is much better. As far as I know rom manager does not install apps. gingerbread wasn't 2.0. eclair was 2.0/2.1. froyo was 2.2; gingerbread was 2.3.
the small steps in versions are because they aren't big enough updates to warrant a big step in numbers. they are just incremental updates.
Flash works on stock browser on S3, make sure your on ICS for official support. For JB, you can search XDA there is a thread on how to make it work. Flash doesn't work on Chrome regardless of ICS or JB.

+1 Adobe ceased all support for android above 4.x, ICS and above... see article here and the list of compatible devices here.
And the video has so many uneeded steps, just download the apk and side load it with any file manager and use the Boat, Firefox or Dolphin browsers. Another work around is Skyfire, but that is outdated and las update was 2011...

Same here, there many sites that I go to to view video that are still in Flash (flv) format and the HTML5 take over will take a few years to get there. Youtube was one of the first adopters of HTML5, but many are still falling behind.
Thanks to this thread I've found the Boat Browser, was using Dolphin a lot more than Chrome. I find Chrome lacking and missing some features, expected a more robust experience. I'm going to keep it for now and see how it evovles over the course of time.

After my longtime fight to get away from Dolphin browser I finally settled on Chrome. I use an app now called 'flashify' in the Play store. Whenever I hit a snag I share the page to Flashify which in turns allows me to carry the link over to another browser. In this case its the 'OCS Browser included in/with JellyBomb ROM.
Really bored one day I decided to track my battery usage and internet connections. I found that Dolphin was a bit of a hog compared to others. Can't get into the swing of Firefox. Used to use Boat but it seemsBoat was just right behind Dolphin Browser is size/data hog. It didn't really slow anything down that I could tell but I just felt Chrome would be... Less of a mem hog/battery/data hog than Dolphin. I could be wrong.... But seems to worm better for me. Just a thought...

yeah ive noticed that adobe flash is no longer in the market anymore, only reason why i was able to download from the market was because on the first day i got the gs3 i saw it once and download it on stock kernel, when i rooted and flash my rom it desappeared from the market, later found it under apps that i installed from my previous phone up until now from the new google data recovery. Now everytime i flash a new rom i can get it from the market throught the google recovery. forgive my ignorance, but whats so great bout the new HTML5 versus the adobe flash and what new features is it having?

I generally use the stock browser, but occasionally use Chrome. The stock browser seems to have the best luck with displaying pages correctly.
everytime I try chrome, I'm reminded why I don't use it on android. Much slower loading of most web pages, web pages load weird, etc. As long as a stock browser can pull my chrome desktop bookmarks, that is what I use. Not to mention the stock browser has incognito mode.
