Keep getting a notification that says mobile life contacts check status. I click on it and it doesnt do anything. I clear it... Comes back again within like 4-5 hours. How do i get this to go away?

Don't know how to get rid of it, but just wanted you to know you weren't the only one that has it.
Also, you can't remove the mobile life contacts from the Accounts settings page either. I tried and it said it is required for some applications to work.
Strange. I guess when we start getting ics based off of the update we will be able to move it.

I just got the same notification. Not sure how to get rid of it completely. Maybe titanium backup?
Possible Solution
I can't post a link yet since I am new but if you google "check status mobilelife contacts on htc" I found the support.tmoble one has a solution. I am about to try the google account one because I don't want to do a reset for something simple like this. Hope this helps everyone
I froze it using titanium backup.

Did the same, here.
Fix:
1.) Settings > Applications > All tab
2.) Find Mobile Life Contacts
3.) Force Stop and Clear Data
Reboot phone to ensure it doesn't pop back up.
Cancel that, starts again on reboot.
I thought i was finally helpful.

Got that as well. Backed it up and uninstalled using Titanium.
It won't mess up anything if you freeze it. Use Titanium Pro to freeze, and you will never see it again.
There's definitely tons of garbage to freeze with the official tmo release that's for sure.. TI pwnage
This worked for me
Resolution steps
To fix the MobileLife contacts not syncing, follow these steps:
If you wish to continue using MobileLife contact backup you must perform a master reset of your device. To perform a master reset of the device, follow the steps below:
From home screen press Menu.
Tap Settings.
Tap Storage.
Tap Factory data reset.
After the factory reset is complete, re-sync MobileLife back to your device through accounts and sync.
For an alternate work around and to back up contacts via a Google account, complete the following steps:
From home screen tap Applications.
Tap Contacts or People.
Press Menu.
Tap Import/Export.
Tap Export to SD card.
Tap MobileLife Contacts.
Tap OK on confirm export.
You will now be returned to Contacts or People.
Press Menu.
Tap Import/Export.
Tap Import from SD card.
Tap Google Account.
Tap OK to continue.
Your contacts are now synced with your Google account. Please navigate to Accounts and sync and verify that automatic synchronization is setup.

Not to be rude, but this just doesnt make any sense. On previous custom ROMs that were debloated, all I had to do was restore that apk using titanium and I was good to go.
This not withstanding, I recently flashed Darkside ICS, and I attempted to restore the APK, but now my contacts will not sync. Are there other processes that are required in order for the Tmo contacts to sync? If so, what are they? I personally like having my contacts synced to MobileLife...
Just to help out. What you are looking for is the "Back Up" and then is will have the version numbers. Freeze it for now. Then Delete it later to make sure you don't mess something up.
This should have the Icon of a rotated white book with T-Mobile color arrows on top and bottom of the icon.
freeze it. I did and it took away the account inside the "Accounts and Sync" area of settings.
Now only my Gmail account is there.
You will need the Pro version of Titanium, but it is worth every penny and more.
I know this is an old thread but I ran across it and wanted to put exactly what needed to be done.
Thanks

I have had and returned 3 dinc2's and everyone of them will uninstall a random app or two after a week. Today my gmail app went and now I have no market access. I am sick of doing factory reset after reset. Is there any way this can be fixed?
I have a feeling this is user error...
are you sure you're not just hiding the apps in the launcher? this can be done in sense based roms.
When you head into settings/applications is the app still listed in there?
Yes it is. When I try to open gmail or market the screen goes white for a few seconds then right back to the home screen.

Could be a conflict with another unrelated app that you have installed on all 3 of them. Just an idea.
Been reading about this happening to a ton of other people since the gingerbread update.

thanks knipp. Anywhere I can view or keep an eye out for this information?
Had the same problem, I know this sounds weird but go to settings> applications> manage applications>all, then go to contacts storage..go ahead and clear everything and then try to sync again. Its not necessarily a problem with the phone, its a problem with sync thats why you cant access gmail or your market.
I just lost the use of the clock app.must be the same issue.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
I only heard and had the clock widget problem but fixed it so far with a factory reset. I contacted HTC when it happened and they said the GB update shouldn't have affect it. So i'm getting mixed views on what is going on.
I lost my dialer at one point.. had to factory reset to get it back. Annoying to say the least. Hope its fixed soon, or root for GB comes.. either will satisfy me.
also having this issue... can't pinpoint what's causing it - definitely a headache when it renders the phone itself inoperable and all you can do is factory reset it... I've tweeted to HTC, emailed their support, and posted on their support forums. Hopefully what knipp said is true...
Also lost clock and dialer. Did factory reset. Everything ok for1 week. Lost clock again. Waiting for dialer to crap out again. When it does gonna return to Verizon for something else. Maybe Thunderbolt. LTE was turned on 2 weeks ago.

If you are rooted you can fix the clock issue by unfreezing it in the free version of titanium backup. For some reason, if you install an app that interacts with the clock, it freezes itself.

HTC's instructions to fix the issue... may or may not be helpful - and I'm waiting on a 2nd reply as to whether or not this is something they're trying to fix/patch:
ANDROID – DUAL PROCESS ERROR ISSUE AFTER SOFTWARE UPGRADE
The first process error involving the core programming, you might consider clearing your Contacts Storage on your device. If you do not have your Contacts list backed up anywhere, you should consider sending a copy to your memory card.
======================================================
Backing up your contacts to the storage card
1. From the Home screen, tap APPLICATION LAUNCHER BUTTON > People.
2. Press MENU > tap Import/Export > Export to SD card.
3. Select an account or type of contacts to export > tap OK.
When you get your Contacts list saved to your memory card, you can forward a copy using a .VCF or Vcard to your Gmail account. After you have your Contacts saved, you can proceed with the troubleshooting steps (PROCESS.COM.ANDROID.ACORE).
1. Turn off synchronization
2. Back up your Contacts to the memory card then to Gmail if you would like.
3. Press Home > Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
4. Scroll down to Contacts Storage application in "Manage applications"
5. Tap on Clear cache then Clear data (ATTENTION! ALL CONTACTS DATA ON PHONE WILL BE LOST!)
6. Turn on sync again.
When the screen opens up, you will come to the Application Information screen. You will find several selections on this screen but you are looking for clear cache. If the button is green, you should tap on the button. After the cache is cleared, you should tap on clear data and there should be a confirmation window afterwards. You tap on OK to confirm and this step should clear the data in the Contact Storage application only. After your screen comes back up, you need to soft reset your device.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Changing General Sync settings
1. Press HOME > MENU > tap Settings > Accounts & Sync.
2. Select or clear the following:
§ Background data -> If this is selected, applications can send and receive online account information even if you are not currently using them.
§ Auto-sync -> If this is selected, applications can use the sync schedule defined in the account settings. If this is cleared, you will need to sync accounts manually.
Synchronizing an account manually
1. Press HOME > MENU > tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
2. Tap the account that you want to sync.
3. Tap Sync now.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
GOOGLE APPLICATION ISSUES
If you are still experiencing issues with your Google Applications, I suggest you consider clearing the data in this application through the Manage Applications screen.
===================================================
1. Press Home > Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
2. Clear data from the Google Apps application in "Manage applications"
When your device screen comes back up, you should complete another soft reset. If there is still no resolution, you should attempt another factory reset but try the steps using the hardware keys instead.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone.
======================================================
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER/LOCK button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER/LOCK button.
Just received a follow up:
"Dear jntdroid,
I appreciate you sending another email after attempting the troubleshooting steps from the previous reply. I do not have any information about this being an issue but you are correct that there are a number of blog sites with a number of threads concerning this subject. We have found that the process error is usually affiliated with a third party application interfering with some core programming within the device.
Unfortunately, I do not have any information about an update but if Verizon is working on something, you should receive a notification on your Android device when the update is available on the server.
If you need any further assistance, you are welcome to send another inquiry through the HTC website by going through the Support page then tapping ‘send us an email’. You should input all the necessary information requested on the page."
To the OP, or others with this issue, were you by any chance messing with any of these custom skins when the problem occurred?
See here... they might be the problem.
Yes. I have several of them loaded.

Just uninstalled Xperanced Arc to see what happens. Clock came back imediatly after. Seems to definitely be the problem. Sad thing is I really liked that one but I've been using Black Expresso for a while. Still have it installed and running. Still have clock. Hopefully it's just the Xperianced Arc. I'll report back if I have any other issues. I have several different ones installed. Thanks for the info. I've been missing my timer.

I have been some serious issues with this and need some assistance.
A little background. My college (who also has a rooted EVO 4G) asked me 1 day if my "people" app kept force closing. At the time we both had the Synergy ROM. And my people app was working perfectly.
The day after my "people" app started to force close randomly and whenever I opened it. I thought nothing of it until I really needed to get into it. So I decided I was going to wipe and flash a new ROM. So I flashed MikG 2.58 and everything was fine for a day. Then day 2 of the new ROM Google asked me to sync some Google contacts with Google contacts. (I did not sync Facebook yet) Every since then it Force Closes.
Is it possible to wipe all the contact syncs I have done on my phone. I really don't want to reflash.....
Settings > Accounts & Sync > click on your gmail account > Uncheck "Sync Contacts" option
Trying it now
I am trying it right now. I knew it was going to be something simple that I overlooked.
Does this reset all Google Synced contacts or just stop further syncing?
as far as I know all it does is stop further syncing. If you want the contacts to not be displayed then
1. go to your contacts
2.hit menu button
3. select "Display Option"
4. Under the header "Choose Contacts to Display" you select your Google account
5. Uncheck all of the boxes
6. Minimize Google account window and then select the Facebook account
7. Uncheck all of the boxes
8. Minimize Facebook account window and press "Done."
That should remove all of your accounts from view. This is at least how it's done on my phone. Your phone may, or may not, have the same ability and process.
If you want all of your contacts deleted from your phone then I think you'll just have to go through and manually delete them all.
Hope this helps
It helped

Well I am not sure either, but People has stopped Force Closing. I was assuming it was a corrupted contact that was there, but I went back and "resynced" and its working fine now. I greatly appreciate it sir!

1. It's slightly more specific than that.
2. The question has already been answered. Reading the entire thread before posting helps.
Does anyone happen to have the people.apk file?
Hey dude check this thread out. It looks like what you should be looking for is called htccontacts.apk. Not people.apk. The linked thread is for the apk with inverted colors (for a darker color scheme) but should work just fine. Let me know if that is what you are needing.

For whatever reason, it seems that the push option for all of my Exchange accounts has been disabled by the native email app. I have multiple accounts setup for Exchange including both Outlook.com as well as a hosted Exchange account and for each of them, the "sync" schedule option has been greyed out and set to manual with no way to change it that I can see. Calendar events are also greyed out and set to 2 weeks. I have tried removing the accounts and re-adding them but still get the same result. This was definitely not the case when I initially setup the accounts months ago. As far as I can tell, this happened sometime within the past 24-48 hours and I have not installed any new apps since then. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Pull down your notification bar, and make sure you have sync properly pressed.
If you turned off sync in settings, it'll switch everything to manual and gray out the option.
To access this from the settings menu, go to settings --> Accounts and Sync, and verify that its on in the upper right hand corner.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the sync setting was turned on as it should be so push is still disabled for whatever reason. I gave up and just hard reset the phone. I thought I would be all set with my Titanium Backup from a week ago but after attempting a full restore, only about 75% of my settings (and none of my accounts) were restored. Should have known better, unlocked, and performed a nandroid months ago. Oh well. Everything seems fine now after the hard reset, just a pain to install everything again and redo all my settings.

never mind then:/ when i was on imperium at first my calender didnt sync so i had to do a factory reset to fix it.
I went on vacation the other day and at some point during my time away, my push broke too. I know I found the "Sync Schedule" thing option greyed out as well, but for the life of me, I can't locate it now.
Let me know if this works for you:
Go into the Email app
Properties Button (to get context menu up)
Account Settings
Update Schedule
..then check under SET FREQUENCY (In Peak Times/In Off-Peak Times)
I got a text from my mom but it only showed her number. I checked a few of my other contacts and found that my dad and one of my brothers was also missing. What the hell happened and is there some way to recover these and any others that have gone missing. Those contacts are not new, they've been saved to my Google account since the G1.
Try re-syncing your google account: go to settings -> Users & Accounts -> Click on your google account -> Click on account sync -> toggle contacts back and forth

Seems like you are not the only one having these issues. http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/07/contacts-sync-breaking-devices-running-android-oreo/
POTENTIAL FIX: https://productforums.google.com/fo...pHswBNJUQ;context-place=forum/phone-by-google
Go to system settings>apps. Show all then click three dots to show system apps
Then find contacts storage and tap that. Then storage and clear app data.
Then everything will update
remove the URL in the contacts profile if you tied that contact to a google+ account. That's how I was able to get them all synced.

I just logged in to say THAAAAANKS. That was the easiest fix in Android history lol.
Exactly the same, logged in to say thank you
So, I tried this, and the issue isn't resolved. I have to go in to settings and restore contacts more or less every day. Any idea why that might be happening?
When I was logged into Gmail earlier today there was a red banner up at the very top saying there was an issue with contacts. Maybe it's related to that?
This is the steps to transfer contacts from Gmail to cellphone:
Step 1. Unlock your Android phone and enter the "Settings" on the device.
Step 2. Choose "Accounts & Sync" under the "Settings" section and elect the "Add account" option.
Step 3. Tap "Google" from the list and click the "Next" button to go to the next interface.
Step 4. Hit the "Sign in" button if you already have a Google account and then enter your username and password. If not, you need to create a Google account at first.
Step 5. After entering your Google account, you can see there are many file types under the "Sync" setting. Just mark the "Contacts"

Hey, at least his post was more informative than many of the noobs we see. I'll give him an A for effort, and a C+ for realizing what he did
this happened to me when i removed an account from my phone, i just had to reinstate that account on my phone export the contacts from that google account and import them into the other, and then remove that first account again. and set the new account for automatic saving.
Ok then! this will sound like a newby question....I'm not really, I swear!!
So I have my lovely rooted Note 8 all set up the way I like it. It's pretty perfect.
During the data transfer from my old phone to new one using Samsung SmartSwitch, every thing went fine without a hitch.
I can no longer use the SmartSwitch app since my phone is rooted now....not changing that.
Somewhere in the process, my contacts got imported into Gmail app. Which I DO NOT want. I usually removing nearly all of Google's apps along with Verizon's as well as Samsung's...I have a policy of uninstalling what I don't want or need or think much of.
However, my contacts are now associated with the Gmail app - if I remove the app, the contacts disappear!!.
I would like to know what is the most current, up to date and trouble means of backing up my contacts, then deleting the Gmail app, then restoring the contacts? Would a Contacts backup and restore in Titanium Root do the trick? is there another, easier or better method?
Thanks for your assistance!
I haven't used it in a long, long time, but I think Mybackup Pro will save/restore contacts. Could take a look at it and see if that does it for you
