[Q] Developers question on installing a system app - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I installed the kies update to ICS for T989. The 4.0.3 stock, and it is just rooted.
I do not like the messaging that comes with it, but I do like the messaging that was on AOSP and on the Galaxy Nexus. The messaging I like is ICS too, so I don't know if I can replace the MMS.apk that is on another ROM for the T989 that I like, or if it will help it.
the one I like is on One5's ROM, and I want to know if I can replace the MMS.apk from his with the MMS.apk from mine located in system/apps and if it will work like I want it to
I will thank anyone that helps me on this :/

OK, Ginger Dialer apk for Sense

I've searched and tried looking for the thread that talked about this. I'm running Insertcoin Sense rom and I don't like the stock dialer and contacts apk. I would like to use gingerbread's apk and I need to find the right one to replace my current ones.
This step is new to me, so I will ask. Can I just use Root Explorer to replace those apks? I've seen how they do it for the Samsung G, by just pasting the new apk into the system app folder and removing the stock ones.
Thanks for your help.
can anybody help?
Here you go, I just extracted it from the AOSP rom. May I suggest if you like the look of gingerbread rather than sense then just flash a AOSP rom.
That's what i've done in the past but I like some things from sense that aren't in AOSP roms. Thanks for the links.

[Q] adding stock soft to BNC-GIO-v1.0-R2

I just discovered BNC-GIO-v1.0-R2 rom and it looks quite promising. But most of stock apps were trimmed out. I wanted to put in again Memo but was not able to do it by copying it's apk to system/apps with root explorer and giving the apk all permissions. Does anyone know if there's another way to install stock apps on this rom?
cheers

It won't work unless it has the Samsung TouchWiz Framework like all stock ROMs have. I'm not sure what Delanoister based his rom off of, but I believe it's based off of CM7 and not the official 2.3.6 firmware. I think that BNC-GIO-R1 is based off of the official 2.3.6 firmware, so you can try that and the stock apps should work...

Galaxy S3 Launcher on Jelly Bean?

So, I am currently running 4.1.1 cia CM10 Kang 8/29 update for Verizon GNex
I can't seem to get the Galaxy S3 launcher to run
I've tried copying to system/app, I've tried just installing, I've tried flashing it, and it always force closes.
Is that a JB issue, or something I can fix?
I have a nice Wiz theme and I really want that launcher
Thanks!!

Different Phone.apk

Hello guys,
I am currently running on bigxies stock Android 4.1.1 AOSP Rom because in my opinion it's the smoothest and cleanest rom. While I have been running AOKP Jellybean Build 1 I discovered that it was using a different Phone.apk. In comparison to the stock Phone app I could use it in landscape and there were suggestions when typing in a number.
I would love to see the phone.apk from AOKP on my Rom, but I can't manage to get it to run...
So I need help, does anyone has got an idea?
Regards
The Phone.apk need to be signed by the same key that is used to sign the ROM for it to work, so taking the Phone.apk from AOKP and putting it on bigxie's ROM won't work because the signature will not match.

[MIUI] Touchwiz camera port for MIUI v5

Hello all! I've tried searching/posting in other forums, especially the MIUI forums, but I can't seem to get the help that I need. I am on an MIUI v5 3.8.29 ROM and the camera that came with the ROM does not have the quality and settings that the Touchwiz camera has. I would like to somehow install the touchwiz camera, is that possible? I have gotten different answers from different people. Some saying it is possible because MIUI has touchwiz framework and some saying that it isn't possible because MIUI doesn't have touchwiz framework. Well, which is it?
I have already tried downloading a stock deodex touchwiz ROM to try to transfer the camera over, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. There are a couple .apk's in the stock ROM that might pertain to the camera/gallery and those files are: SamsungCamera.apk and SecGallery2_Galaxy.apk. This is the part where I am stuck. The file in MIUI is named Gallery2.apk and there is no other file that looks like it could be the gallery and/or camera. I've tried deleting the Gallery2.apk in the MIUI ROM and replacing it with the SecGallery2_Galaxy.apk, but it will not install to my device. It keeps telling me that install is unsuccessful. Same goes for the SamsungCamera.apk. Has anyone ever done this before or could possibly guide me along? It is very important that I have a good camera for work and this stock MIUI/CM camera just isn't cutting it.
Nevermind. I guess this doesn't work because I am running MIUI with CM base not official, which is TW based.
