Swipe on MTD rom

Quick question. Flashed people's rom MTD 2.21 and miss using swype. I don't want all the sprint/Samsung bloat, just swype. So all I have to do is unmount the system and flash the apk? Or will the apk install with no issues? Any and all help with this is appreciated. Thanks

Yes it will be fine. I am using it on The Peoples Rom MTD.

Thanks all, came from clean GB and thought it couldn't get better. Great work to all involved. Was ready to jump to the S3, but I think this will hold me over till LTE is up and running in my area. Again, impressive group in here!

The partition map shouldn't matter. Everything that worked on RFS/BML should work on MTD/YAFFS2.

[Q] i need help :/

hey people i wanted to know what should i get i want 4.1 jelly bean and i found paranoidandroid really awesome but i wanted to know if im better off waiting for the official firmware what should i do?
i have Rom manager i haven't flashed with mobile odin but im waiting to know should i go with custom rom or official?

I would ask myself if I could stand to lose TW features, stability, and which looked and felt better to you (if you tried one of the JB leaks). Really though, try both when official is out, because by then paranoid would have been updated several times

wipe factory, dalvik and cache. then flash a TW-based rom.

Is there a way I can deodex the current rooted stock ROM I'm on doin Dont lose any data or have to start from scratch but still be able to use mods?

Yup I recently realized I could do that smh... previously on other phones it always forced a wipe if I recall when you first did a new rom

Stripped bare bones stock Att ROM that has been tweaked

I keep looking in the ROM section but I don't see one. I want a FAST stripped down (complete bloat removed) stock Att ROM jelly bean. Can someone point me in the right direction to a ROM that has no issues (call volume etc.)

I only want Samsung Kies to remain in such a ROM since I'm a Mac user and need the MTP functionality.

Slim bean maybe? I did see one a while back but i'm not entirely sure of its stability. I was in the same boat as you though. I just downloaded titanium backup and un installed all bloat from there, good to go!

Don't have one but I used this guide to unroot and return to stock, then debloat away.

If you're on stock that will work perfectly, but if you're running a custom rom then I'm not sure. I've heard you can also restore via Kies though, gimme a sec

+1. I've tried a bunch of ROMs and this is my favorite. I haven't stayed with a ROM for this long before, and that's saying something.

Usb broken

Is there any to upgrade to gb27 without a USB port a friend of mine has this device and her port is broken and I want to help her upgrade any advice is welcomed

What about the exynos abuse root method? What build is the phone currently on? It did get patched but I don't remember what build.

Well I was able to using a app. Im cursed with having a broke volume down button, so that was my only choice since i couldnt get to download mode without rooting and using a widget to reboot to download mode.
I have to dig around for the app but I know I saved it just in case...
Actrully found it I used a app called framaroot.

The app is called framaroot. I used verision 1.4 it looks like there is another update for it. Its here on XDA.

Interesting. It's worth a shot OP. Worst case, it fails and you uninstall. If it is successful, you can install mobile odin, then get the latest gb27 tar, and money. While you're at it, you will have to flash a cwm custom jb kernel, since you're on ics, and, MO won't flash modems, you'll need a jb modem to use data on gb27. Download the zip though of the modem . Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Hopefully it works for you. I don't see why it wouldn't. Might be more complicated but it worked for me. but of course YMMV. Just follow what jdsingle76 said you you'll be good to go.
