Yeah I agree, network variants always take a bit longer than unbranded updates, if your HTCdev unlocked I would use the unbranded ruu

i just got this on my unbranded SIM free wildfire S but im HTCdev unlocked and Rooted, i clicked update to see what it would do and it reboots to the traiangle with ! in next to a little android

You need to flash stock recovery, then it should work fine.

Ota 2.29.405.14

Last night I received a small update on my Desire [2.29.405.14] but I could not find anything on the forum about it.
Anything interesting or noteworthy ?
The only thing I see for the moment is that the version is 2.2.2.

If your using a custom RoM, then don't update. wait for the dev to use the update.
Why don't you update your phone to official 2.3?

is that the same minor update that came out shortly after the 2.3 GB RUU, or another one on top of that?

Some reports say you need 25Mb internal storage free. I didn't, it installed with 15Mb free but as I'm rooted and using Unrevoked 3 it failed to install.
No harm done, it doesn't look like it adds much and it's a phone I'll be replacing in 2-3 months anyway.

Well, yesterday I tried to "Unrevoke" a Desire with this OTA installed, and it was unsuccessful...
I was thinking about trying with a factory-state stock 2.2 and this OTA installed, to see if it works.
Anyone had this issue? Do you think that "Revolutionary" will work?

Got back to official RUU after trying many custom roms (nice work you guys ALL, but not stable for my pvt4)
Today I received the same update 2.29.405.14. After that I tried to root with unrevoked3, but I got an error message "failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?"
Same problem here. Any other available method to get back to a rooted phone?
Thanks in advance.
No root after 2.29.405.14
I have the same issue. I had to send my phone in for service so I unrooted and installed the stock Vodafone RUU. Sent it into HTC and instead of installing the latest Vodfone version they gave me the unbranded one. Not that I care but now that I have 2.29.405.14 I can't root it anymore with UnrEVOked. I guess we just have to wait for UnrEVOked to be updated for this version number?

I haven't tried yet... in my case, since the device is not mine, the owner prefers to install the official 2.3 RUU (loosing all the apps and settings) and then rooting with Revolutionary.
Will do it this week. If someone can guarantee that Revolutionary works with 2.29.405.14, please say it

I'm 99% sure. If you update you won't be able to root phone until HTC release new unlock.
My WFS has bootloader unlocked, S-ON and rooted, running JxMatteoROM v1.1.
No need to use any updates from HTC anymore. I froze update with link2sd and no more nag to install it.

[Q] Anyone got RUU for T-mobile based on 1.26.110.5? we might need them to do our OTA

Hi everybody.
Does someone know the link for the T-Mobile RUU, 1.26.110.5?
On the web I can just find the 110.2.
I think in order for some of us to get the T-Mobile OTA, we need the 110.5.
Or does anybody know if the OTA only looks at CID and IMEI numbers?
So is it Rom independent as long as we have a 1.26.110.x rom?
Just cause after downgrading from ARHD I am not getting the OTA on my device which is a bummer..
Thanks all... much appreciated

I think the OTA depends on your CID. I haven't seen the RUU 1.26.110.5
My software version is 1.26.110.5 and my phone is saying there is an update but everytime i try it just fails.
I have an unlocked bootloader but not root.
do i have to re-lock my bootloader to update or is there another way

We've got the official update as a zip now, but because a lot of us actually have 110.2 as base rom, it is not working.
So if anyone can post a link for the 110.5 base, that would be great..
Its interesting how the RUU we have 110.2 doesn't receive the OTA updates, I wonder if it is a test RUU instead of the actually released 110.5. Even if this is the case, it begs the question, why has no one got the 110.5 RUU yet?
Did you have any luck with the OTA on top of the 110.2 RUU?
Thanks

Update hox Vodafone version

Hi folks,
I bought my HOX from Amazon. Apparently it came up with HTC rom + slight changes did by the European mobile phone company Vodafone.
Currently, the operating system version is 4.0.3
Sense version is 4.0
Software version 1.29.161.13
Keneral 2.6.39.4-g1389c4c root @ ABM041 # 1 SMP PREEMPT
The problem: I did not get the latest update, and from what I understand, it depends on Vodafone's mood.
I want to have the stock rom, HTC original, no extra and no need to depend any gesture of goodwill of a cellular company.
How could I do this?
Thank you!

If you're running on 100% stock Vodafone you have to wait on them to push the update - you can't use an unbranded RUU

RUU = ROM Upgrade Utility
If you went custom you could still get OTAs but I wouldn't recommend it as it tends to screw up the phone

HTC sell the One X SIM-free which has stock, unbranded FW on it. They also supply carriers with their own version of the FW with the carrier's own apps/settings, etc. With older HTC handsets if you can set it to S-OFF (or use a Gold Card) you can 'debrand' the phone and change it to be the SIM-free version. You can't do that with the One X so unless you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM you will ONLY get updates from Vodafone UK. If you go custom it's recommended you do not apply OTA updates as it can cause problems

[Q] HOX bricked after updating HBOOT

I started out with an unlocked and unrooted Vodafone France branded HOX (CID VODAP203) with S-ON running stock ICS.
Foolishly, I assumed I needed to update the HBOOT in order to receive the official Jellybean upgrade. So I downloaded the appropriate firmware.zip from here and flashed it using fastboot. That procedure completed successfully, and the phone rebooted.
Since then, it has been stuck at the Beats Audio screen, which is what I suppose is called a "bootloop".
I tried using the correct RUU from htcruu.com, but that throws up an error about the wrong HBOOT version. I can't reproduce the message exactly; there is insufficient charge to try again.
I had HBOOT 0.43 before; after flashing, I have 1.36. Is there any way out of the bootloop? I don't mind wiping the phone.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated! :cyclops:

Now I'm just being greedy, but would you perhaps know where I might find the JB RUU for my CID? The OTA was released in November, but it hasn't been added to the collection here on xda.
y dont you just flash stock recovery and update to JB since the ota is out as you said ?
