[Q] Endless Reboot After Flashing a New ROM - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a Desire HD and I just flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460820
It installed without any errors, but after the installation during the reboot, nothing happens. The phone just keeps rebooting endlessly with the HTC logo and then the beatsaudio logo and back to the HTC logo again. I pulled out the battery and turned it on again but the same thing happens. Please help!

did u do a full wipe? just do a full wipe, and then reflash the rom.
Also, make sure that the md5sum is the correct for the rom zip file. If the file is corrupted, then u will never be able to flash it.

How do I do a full wipe? I can access recovery, so how do I do it from there?

select the option wipe data/ factory reset
BUT as you can imagine all your data will be deleted!
and use the + / - buttons for selecting; wake up button should be the enter button

I did that, but the problem still persists.

then use an other rom that you can flash.. maybe the rom you downloaded is broken?

Every rom in the site has a MD5SUM, that is a unique number to check is the file is corrupted or not.
When in the sdcard, the check using a cmd as admin the following
(whatever directory the sdcard is) ¿?:\FOLDER THE FILE IS ON\md5sum NAME OF FILE.ZIP
check that number...if that is ok, then change the rom.

Do you use alot of apps perhaps ?
Are these moved to SD ?
I too had problems with Rebooting after upgrading and it appears a HUGE BUG was introduced in the official Gingerbread OS ...
Check this link out and see how many hundred of others have this reboot bug:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=25563
There is however a fix for those with rooted phones, simply install LINK2SD, which runs a boot-up script and allows you to save/link all your apps on SD card in a 2nd seperate partition (ideally use format ext4 for this partition) and makes the phone believe these are all installed on the local data space ..

phone restarts itself but I dont know why?

I use MCR r5 2.2. it works well. but when I turn on EDGE/3G, my phone reboot alltime. if I turn off EDGE/3G, it stops booting loop(tried 2 3 times to turn off edge/3g).
I tried another ROM 2.2, another Radio, but there's nothing changes, phone reboot itself. even more seriously, sometimes when I go to recovery mode, it still reboot itself here and freezing. I must pull out battery and try again.
information about my desire( rooted/ no lock fone):
baseband: 32.42.00.32U_5.09.00.08
kernel 2.6.32.15-g1fc4045
[email protected]#1
build number 2.06.832.1 cl207528 test-keys
MCR r5
when I flash new ROM: I wipe system/Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik( I dont know I wipe Dalvik correctly or not, because I can not see any information about successfully wipe Dalvik ), format ext, flash new ROM, new radio. is it correct?
i have tried radio 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04, 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.
any advice for me? sorry my bad English
any help for me . should I try up kernel? My phone is still rebooting now
( Im so confused... I have tried to up ROM again and now it is freezing at HTC screen... what can I do now (.
Can't help you with a direct solution, but I do know that it's not needed to flash the radio every time you flash a ROM.
To end the bootloop I suggest you try it without the ext partition.

thanks for your advice... . i format my sd card with full FAT32( delete Ext2) and the phone boots again( now I use MCR 3.1 radio 4.06.00.02_2, not use froyo ). It went to home screen and looks fine. but sometime it reboots itself. I pulled out sd card and SIM but it still reboot sometimes.
sometimes loop booting, the phone vibrates 7 times quickly at HTC screen after that, it freezes. I must pull out the battery
any advice for me?
anybody see the phone go to recovery mode, but sometimes it reboot itself quickly 7 times( vibrate 7 times in 1 2 seconds) and freeze...
I see an "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" in recovery mode when I press + button? what is it?
put your microSD card into a PC using an adapter and run a chkdsk on it
start -> run or start -> search (on vista/7)
type in: CMD and press enter
then type in: CHKDSK X: /f /v /r (where X is the current drive letter assigned to your microSD)
If you're literate enough in linux, and you have an ext2/3 partition, you can also run e2fsck on that partition
from your favourite shell:
e2fsck /dev/sdX2 ( where X is the current device letter assigned )

Are you still able to get to the recovery and stay in the recovery? If so, in recovery go to the option format. Format youre sdcard, swap=0, ext2=512, remainder is fat32. Then upgrade the ext2==>ext3.
Go back to the mainscreen in the recovery and press usb-toggle. Then copy the rom from youre pc to youre sdcard. If done press trackball to disable usb-toggle.
It also might be that youre sdcard is corrupt as poster above me wrote
Then flash the rom and see what happens.
I am having the same issue. All new radio (for 2.2 froyo) will cause random reboot during 3G usage.
The easiest way to reproduce the problem is to keep browsing google map for a few minutes using 3G connection.
Flashing froyo custom rom with old radio (4.06.00.02) does not have this issue, but losing camcorder features...
Anyone idea for this?
sounds similar to my problem (for which i have a partial solution):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7533671&postcount=220
Maybe one of the radio images updated something which shouldn't be updated?
I think this is a general software problem which is pushing the hardware to its limits however people seem to think it is purely a hardware issue.
I had the same issue. After trying everything to fix the problem fully bricked my phone to where it wouldn't even start. I personally its all hardw are.. got my phone replaced and now works fine... I spoke to my carrier and they did say some of the desires just have issues
If possible replace the device , if not I hope u guys eventually sort it out
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thank all for your attention.
I flashed my phone to MCR 3.1 with radio 4.06.00.02( of course wipe everything). it boot well, to home screen . but sometimes it still reboots itself( now it's on 2.1, not on froyo 2.2 any more)
in recovery mode still have: "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
anybody meets the phone vibrates 7times( reboot) at HTC screen then freezing?

[Q] HELP! Phone stuck in endless reboot, after flashing the Super Circle Battery!

I had just rooted (for the first time) my phone using this guide;
http://www.htcdesireforum.com/htc-desire-how-to/(guide)-rootin-flashing-rom/
That root went perfect. After that I flashed LeeDrOiD V2.3c (first v2.3b then 2.3c), also I flashed the accompanying radio with the number that matched my baseband version.
Then I used Titanium backup to restore everything, and it was perfect. Everything good.
Then I thought the Super Circle Battery looked nice, and tried installing it. It's this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778
I first tried to flash this zip file from that page; scbm_A_white_number.zip the same way I had just flashed LeeDrOiD. Nothing happened.
Then I went to The Ultimate Online Tool Kitchen ( http://circle.glx.nl/ ) which is where the Super Circle Battery guys tell you to go.
I chose Flashable zip only, and under "framework-res.apk" I chose my ROM Leedroid V2.3c. It then makes a zip file, and I tried flashing that.
That certainly did something, and when I rebooted afterwards it was stuck in endless reboot!
I can only go to the white screen and then ClockwordMOD recovery screen now. I tried doing a factory reset there, and wiping dalvik cache as well, but it just starts up Leedroid and then goes into endless Leedroid boots.
I've also tried doing a hard reset, but it still just loads up the Leedroid loader, and goes into endless boot.
Please help!

put your device into recovery mode, and push your original framework-res.apk to /system/framework/ using adb

That's what I thought (or hoped for), the problem is I can't get the Leedroid ROM zip on to my SD (be course I can't open it as a disc drive with my USB in the boot screen) , and it's not on there any more after I flashed it the first time.

if you put your device in recovery mode, (hold vol down and press power when device is off, then choose recovery from the menu) scroll down to where it says mounts and storage, choose this then choose, mount usb storage. you can connect your cable and use your sd card as a disk drive.

Probably or you can restore a nandroid. You did make one of course before flashing mods
Sometimes it just takes that long to flash the Circle Batt zip. When I was still on Lee, I kind of panicked too when my Desire got into the LeeDroid bootloop. Did several battery pulls, and was just about to give up when I left it to boot by itself for about 10 more minutes (too long, I know), and voila--the circle batt indicator showed up on the top bar, right alongside the network signal. Don't know why, but the Circle Batt zip actually took longer to flash than the ROM itself.

[Q] Always rebooting

I have CM7 and it's worked well, until yesterday, when I installed SD Maid and I did some delete with Corpse Finder (maybe was not the problem). And few hours later I reboot my phone (had problem with ADW), but after still reboot immediately, when the system is up.
I tried these steps:
- with the recovery mode: wipe data/factory reset, after wipe cache partition, and install .zip (CM7) from SD Card
- wipe davlik cache
- HBOOT menu (like in downgrade): install PC10IMG.zip (in recovery mode was fail)
- try to root again in recovery mode, but cant going thru on this: adb push recovery.... .img file, and after the root_psn file, until the end of the commands.
But did not work nothing.
So please help me, what I have to do?!
you could try superwipe:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044992
afterwards wipe also through recovery (data/cache/dalvik) and then do a fresh install of whatever...
maybe it helps
OK, it is works, but have a problem too.
After used this SuperWipe, I put CM7 also. And it was good.
But I forget the google services, and after I installed this, had a same problem with the rebooting...
...then try different gapps or do a fresh install: flash cm7 and straight afterwards gapps (don´t boot into cm7 before flashing gapps)
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps
you could google for older ones
EDIT: ok in samsung galaxy 3 forum i have read that people had problems with gapps because of a corrupted sdext partition - as far as i remember from my old htc magic where i used sdext you can fix this through recovery
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Thanks. I solved the problem (avoid the problematic step). But it was another, what I guess in the first time.
So, the gapps was correct, because I started from the superwipe again, and flash CM7 and the gapps too. And it is working properly until, when I has changed the mobile connection to "only 2g" (sometimes I prefer this, because less battery usage). And got the reboot problem again.
Now I leave my mobile in 3G and still working properly.
Thanks for the help!!

[Q] Stuck on bootscreen

Hey, My phone was working fine till yesterday. N when i tried to flash dk froyo .i had to change the kernel and i guess the bootscreen(htc logo) freezed because of that. I tried flashing hcdr and other kernels and even changed rom back to cm 7.But nothing seems to help.Only cwm is working on my phone. CAn someone help me please
btw its a wildfire
Your best bet Is to try run a ruu as that would reset the phone back to stock, bootloader and kernal, but depending on how you s-offed you may lose the ability to root.( untill you s-off again.) Good luck
sent from my steroid powered, cyanogenmod filled wrecking machine! using xda app.
Perform a full wipe (In CWM, Select "Data Wipe / Factory Reset", then, staying in CWM, go to Mounts and Storage, Select "Format /system". After this, flash a ROM (any) and check if it boots.
Tried. Its still not working. Can any1 post a nandroid backup file of any rom for wildfire. Please. I formatted my sd card too by mistake.
and while flashing a ruu. it always shows a error E:Failure at line 65 and something. Its different everytime
Connect your Wildfire to your PC, In CWM, Go to Mounts and Storage, and Select "Mount USB Storage". This will activate Mass Storage Mode and you can access your SDCard on your PC as normal. (I don't think anyone would upload a Nandroid backup of his own, it contains personal stuff like contacts and all. But, if someone does, good for you)
i mount usb storage n then do wat..? i tried flashing every rom possible. But its still not working. Is it the kernel's problem or what??
I am pretty certain performing a full wipe (Following options in CWM - 1: Data Wipe - Factory Reset, along with 2: Wipe Cache Partition, 3: Format /cache, 4: Format /system, 5: Format /data, 6: Wipe cache partition, 7: Wipe Dalvik Cache) in CWM and flashing a fresh ROM will fix your issue, UNLESS your phone is not bricked due to bad flash, but since you already claim that you have done that, I can't help you any further on this.
EDIT - Also one more thing - When you flash the kernel / ROM, do you get a confirmation message "Installation Complete"? What is your CWM version?
Yes i do.it says installation comple and its v3.0.0.6
Sense ROM's like DK will not work on CWM versions above 2.x.x.x. Anyway, since you tried CM7 already, One last suggestion in that case would be to try flashing the RUU via the bootloader.
Steps -
1: Download the RUU you want to install
2: Extract the rom.zip from the RUU. Procedure here
3: Once you have that rom.zip, Rename it to PC49IMG.zip
4: Transfer this to the root of your SDCard (i.e. - Not in any folders / sub-folders)
5: Restart device in HBoot Mode (Press Vol Down + Power simultaneously)
6: It will scan for the file, and ask to install. Follow On-Screen instructions.
Ill give it a try.
owe you big time man..Thanx a lot..

[Q] Boot Hangup Error After Attemption Internal Memory Increase

Completed the following successfully on my Wildfire S 510c:
Unlocked
Installed CWM v5.0.2.6
Rooted
I wanted to find a way to either move the whole system to the SD card or to increase the Internal memory using the SD card.
I found a guide here explaining how to increase the internal memory using SD card, but after following the instructions to the T my phone hangs up on the white screen with HTC logo every time.
To make matters worse, the partitioned portion of the SD card cannot be seen in windows explorer when I try to access the SD via CWM, only the portion that was left over. I fear that since this problem occurred right after I installed cm-7-20120717-UNOFFICIAL-marvel recovery over the previous CWM I had and the Data2SDInstallerNXE2 I'm speculating 1 of 2 things have occurred: Either the Unofficial CWM is corrupted (All functions work properly inside recovery) or an error occurred where the system files were not properly copied into the newly created partition and so it tries to boot system from empty space.
I'm at a total loss where to go from here. I don't know of any free programs that can see all the partitions of the SD card where Windows cannot, let alone unpartition it, and even then how to set it back up to where it boots up where it needs to. I've tried to reinstall the previous CWM I had via zip installer but it give an "Installation Aborted".
Someone plz halp! lol
Ok, I found that under SD partition in CWM if you select different partition size it will remove the old partition, this still doesn't fix the hangup though.
Now it doesn't hang up, but keeps going back to bootloader screen. I think I should stop before it get worse and wait for a response. XD
Tried flashy method in an attempt to set phone back to locked and unrooted status. Only thing it did was set phone in relocked status. I'm taking a break for awhile, spent too many hours on this ><

Ok, so as the current state of the phone, do I just wipe everything and then run CWM, reboot it then when it comes up again install Int2extv2+ from zip, that's it? Does the relock prevent me from taking the steps neccessary from getting back into the phone? and if so what would I need to do to unlock it again when I only have access to fastboot/bootloader/CWM?

Ok, so here is what I've done:
Re-unlocked √
Wipe date/Factory Reset √
Wipe Cache Partition √
Flashed cm-10.1-20130703-4.3-F-NIGHTLY-marvel √
Reboot System Now (Hangs on HTC white screen) - pulled battery out to turn off
Went back into bootloader -> CWM and installed INT2EXTV2+ via zip installer (selected no for SWAP2INT) √
Reboot - Hangs on HTC white screen. X
Here is a question, would S-ON affect this in any way? I've done the partial S-off procedure (which was recommended to me) but the bootloader still says S-On. If it needs to be completely off and shown as S-off would you show me a proper procedure link for me get that taken care of (but only if absolutely necessary)?
I really appreciate your help so far.

I tried all those roms and same error, which leads me to believe that the rom isn't the problem.
However, all of that is irrelevant now, as I gave it to someone who said they knew how to fix it and they bricked it completely, so I just told him to keep it. lol

U have marvelc no marvel mobile
Try with fastboot flash custom rom (boot.img,system.img, and recovery.img)
But dont forgot before factory reset.
U will have custom rom mobile, and worked mobile
If u can change rom, u must find marvelc roms, and first try cm7 rom
I too start with this rom (cm7)
