[Q&A] Mr. -X- Stock, T-Mobile & Telus ICS Builds - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Lets start a thread where all Q&A could be asked, and the other thread is left for development.
Thank you,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705617

Totally agree because the other post will become like Circus
let's start with the current bugs in it:
-Camera doesn't work
-I personally am having issues with turning the phone off
P.S. to Mr. X or any developer can you guys finally make the Camera to take a Snap when Power button pressed?

Confirmed that shutdown does not work when first flashed. Flashing the DJ's Cache superwipe to fix this after the initial startup and subsequent reboot did not fix it.

Except Camera everything else is working fine for me

can anyone help on the samsung keyboard?
the language swiping wont work properly.
i have english(US) and korean selected. when i switch to korean (via swiping spacebar button on keyboard to change to korean) the keyboard characters change ok.
but then when i start typing it still types in english and not in korean.
anybody else experiencing this?

It is NOT confirmed. You did not flash correctly. Follow these steps:
1-Flash Superwipe
2-Flash Radio
3-Flash rom
There is no cache superwipe. You are getting cache wipe and superwipe confused.
So far the only 2 confirmed issues are:
1-Camera broken
2-wifi calling broken

Flashed using twrp and have only the camera problem havent tested wifi calling. i even restored data from DE 2 beta 2....
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA

Confirmed T-mobile version in order to fix the Shut down problem
here is what I did:
Wipe Data
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvic
Format System
Format Data
Format Cache
Flash Darkside super wipe from: HERE
Install Radio
Install Rom
Reboot
Enjoy
The Camera Problem is till Up + Wifi Calling

Waiting for the camera patch...

remember you are flashing a stock ROM
you need to first roll back to a stock Gingerbread before flashing this ICS stock ROM

I flashed over the tmo leak by tdj. restored data from that rom onto new tmo rom. works fine and shuts down and restarts fine.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA

Yea but I'm sure that a good wipe would do it and I don't have to go back all the way to Ginger and reflashing from there it doesn't make sense !

If you dont depend on wifi calling, the Telus build is newer and better then tmo build. No CIQ, no bloatware, newer build. much smoother, better reception and 4G speeds.
Just my 2 cents

I have to agree im confused if i should go back to telus hahaha - I do like the wifi calling but other than that telus ftw!
i have zero issues with the camera and wifi tho ... not sure what everyone else is experiencing.

Your camera works? And not wifi, just wifi-calling.

yes wifi calling and camera work normally as ever. only thing i cannot do is flash s voice for the life of me ... just does not get picked up properly and it worked on the telus release.

Bluetooth not working on AOSP ROMs

Let's figure out why this has happen.
Please post which ROMs you've used.
Please post baseband version.
Post logcat
I'll go first.
I tried the Saurom,
then madmack's cm10,
then jellybeer,
then jelllybam.
I am using Baseband I317UCALK7 found here
I have 0 bluetooth issues.
Really appreciate you starting this thread.
So far I've tried:
- madmack's CM10
- JellyBeer v3. something.
- PA 2.56
None of these had working bluetooth for me. Won't even turn on. Sometimes the toggle won't even move.
I've flashed and reflashed and wiped and dirty flashed and wiped again in every combination possible.
I've tried keeping my min cpu frequency high, to no effect.
I'm about to try your 3.30 JellyBam and try the latest AOKP from the TMobile forum.
Will post logcat shortly.

I think I only used Saurom-Projekt prior to CM10, and Saurom is still my daily driver because I need the bluetooth.
I'm using Rogers and my baseband is I317MVLALJ2.
Just tried 3.35 JellyBeer and no luck. Toggle moves, no bluetooth.

Flashing your modem just boot-loops my device. Probably because it's Rogers phone?
Reverting to Rogers modem and JellyBam 3.30 to get a logcat.

I don't know why I didn't do a proper logcat earlier. I tried it once and it didn't seem to show anything, but I must not have timed it right.
My logcat shows exactly as this guy shows: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36468370&postcount=218
Basically, it can't find the proper .hcd file, because for some reason mine is named /system/bin/bcm4334_semcosh.hcd.
Renaming it to /system/bin/bcm4334_semco.hcd fixes it, without even a need for a reboot.
----
All that said, I've merely gotten bluetooth to turn on. No word yet on it's performance. But it's promising.
You shouldn't have to rename that file... that's what we need to figure out. Why certain devices are behaving like that.

[Q] $100 to the man who fixes my wifi

nvm
Try another kernel ? Make sure you use aosp version of the kernel. What exactly is the problem with wifi ?
Sent from my GT-N7100
I tried the Zoot's wipe you suggested earlier, didn't fix the problem. Tried a few different kernels, all bootlooped.
The wifi takes a very long time scanning for networks, and won't connect to any network (unsecured, WEP, WPA, nothing). Works perfect on roms mentioned in first post, but not on 4.1.2 based PA.
Why do you want pa ? For per-app-dpi ? Well that can be done on normal phone also.

You might want to take a look in Settings > Wi-Fi hit the Menu button again and choose Advanced and then make sure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always. Disable wifi timer.

do this 100 percent works
To insure this doesn't happen, just follow these steps:
1. Dial *#0011#
2. Hit the left menu softkey to bring up the menu, and select 'Wifi'
3. Turn OFF the 'Wifi Power Saving'
4. Exit, and Reboot

Try to change the flash root file. Look for cwm6-root-n7100 and flash it through Odin. It should work fine after that. Good Luck =D
Wow $100. Just trying to help only.
Odin back to original stock rom. Check all connection its ok or not.
Check ur note 2 version *#1234# and also imei *#06#.
Flash pa according to ur note2 version.
Check ur imei.
Flash kernel n modem based on ur note2 version.
I've tried all these things and none of them make wifi work for me on cm10 4.1.2 based roms. I don't think the problem is as simple as changing a setting or root/recovery, because simply flashing a different rom (TW 4.1.2 or 4.2 based PA) fixes the wifi issue entirely.
The $100 offer still applies to any developer who knows what the problem is and can provide files & specific instructions on how to fix the wifi connection issues I have with 4.1.2 based PA roms. Until then I'm gonna run an unofficial PA3 rom, with zero wifi issues.
Try this
First do a mega wipe.
Then flash the latest stock rom for your country.
Then do a mega wipe again.
Then flash aosp kernel(redpill or uneak)
Then flash pa .
Then flash gapps.
Try all the aosp kernels.
Try previous versions of the rom.
Try different versions of gapps.

In Settings it says the baseband is N7100XXDLK7. This is probably because I've since flashed a stock rom from Dr. Ketan's thread. The label on the retail box says N7100ZNDXSG (but it doesn't say that's the baseband).
Are there AOSP kernels made for specific basebands?
Wifi works perfectly with every rom I've tried except anything CM10 4.1.2 based. The screen tear happened the same way with PA 2.99, and the same neak kernel fixed it, but there was never a problem with wifi on 2.99
Have you flashed isolated baseband from working rom?
If you have stock rom, extract tar and you will find modem.bin and flash it using odin for 'phone' tab
Just for safety make nandroid backup before it.

Isolated, no. Are you saying that flashing a rom zip via CWM overwrites the existing baseband?
At this point, the unofficial PA 3.1 is working for me where the official PA 2.99 wasn't.....so the $100 offer is no more. Thanks everyone for trying to help me fix the problem, but now I've got the phone set up how I wanted with another rom.

Could not make a call. I changed APN settings and nothing. I am about to try a different modem and also, if I have it, the english version of the custom settings...
After numerous attempts to make a call, I have decided to go back to a dif build. I've done all I can (all I know) and nothing works for me. If someone knows a fix, I'll give this ROM another try. I will note that the camera/video recording does indeed work. Unfortunately, I did not take much time to test the audio from videos because I need to have service available, as I am in management and can't afford to miss calls.

I checked every where couldn't find the solution sorry if someone already had this issue let me know ill go their and delete this thread.
So i rooted my galaxy s2 3 weeks ago i installed paranoid android on it and was happy with it but for two days, the phone was freezing alot and i dont use ram extensive apps just your normal calling and texting, not only that when someone would call me sometimes i wouldn't hear them and they wouldn't hear me, sometimes i click the unlock button and it would take a very long time to show the lockscreen or not show at all my batterys is alway charge so thats not the issue now im on cyanogen 11.0 rom and im having the same issue and i have the latest kernal also my recovery is cfw and its the latest version aswell.
Question: can you suggest me a stable simple rom all i would need it for is calling texting a little browsing and i would use apps like viber and candycrush literally the only two thing i use on my phone. Or tell me why this is happing would also help.

I use AOSPA and don't have any of those problems. Well technically I can't say any since I haven't tried calling yet but none if the other problems. Did you clean flash or dirty flash? Also, did you mean your recovery is CWM? I've never heard if cfw.

It's a T989, right? If so, here is the ROM link ( http://aospal.hostingsharedbox.com/aospal/roms/hercules/) and here are the gapps ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942). You need either the mini or the micro gapps for it to flash right. And here is the AOSPA thread for the T989 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313530)

You have to expect occasional bugs with any aosp roms.... The devs have done a great job keeping this device current.... Considering official support ended with 4.1.2.
If you want total stability on your phone.... Stock 4.1.2 TouchWiz might suit you best.
Just my 2 cents. ?

It was slow for me but I didn't debloat so who knows. I Heimdalled to 4.0.4 to try to update to JB and try again but it didn't show up in update manager. Neither Odin nor Kies works in Linux.

You might try using a stable Jelly Bean ROM that's been around for a while, such as the older builds of CyanogenMod (10.1.3), AOKP (JB-MR1), SlimBean 4.2.2, etc. If you still have a bad experience with those, you should probably go back to stock. You can always root and install Xposed on stock for extra tweaks.

DN4 for T889 tmo

ok, so i was trying to mess around a lil bit and i flashed DN4 for the N7100 . Amazingly , everything worked perfectly except the baseband was unknown. I flashed a modem but it still didnt work. Apart from that, everything works great including the wifi too. Anyone with a workaround for the baseband fix could kindly help.....
Ditto Note 4 v2 How To:
1. Write Down Voicemail Number
2. Download DN4v2LTE (Link Below)
3. Download AddOn v1.1 (Link Below)
4. Boot into Recovery
5. Start with a clean wipe including INTERNAL Storage (System, Data, Cache & Dalvik Cache should be included in your clean install)
6. With the Rom saved to your External SdCard Flash DN4v2LTE
7. DO NOT REBOOT
8. Flash AddOn v1.1
9. Reboot
10. Go through the Setup Wizard
11. Open Dialer app > Keypad > Menu > Settings > Call > Voicemail Settings & put Voicemail number in place..
Profit.
Ditto Note 4 Version 2 LTE<-- E-Team Website Link
Add-On Version 1.1<-- pCloud Link from ykkfive
If anyone needs the SecEmail.apk
SecEmail.apk <-- Mega Download
Thank if this helped you

Just a quick update on this entire DN4 thing... the link isnt up yet BUT someone is creating a zip to flash to get the N7100 DN4 to work with N7105 Variants. Look in the N7105 Development Threads... I cant wait to get it going myself...I already made my Nandroid Backup.
Update: The patch is live. But it needs a few things to get it to work on out T889 Toltetmo variant.
Heres whats needed:
Download DN4 for N7100
Download Patch
Download AGNi Kernel for N7105 for TW.
Download Tmo Modem (MK7)
You'll need to fix the updater-script in the patch to say toltetmo before flashing it.
Still cant get it to read my sim so I have no cellular or data connection at the moment.. gonna try a different approach that I just read.

2 bugs that the devs are working on (i think) is GPS not connecting and Signal Bars not showing Signal Strength. But i think the Rom is Stable as hell.
Also pair it with AGNi 4.3.3R3 for the N7105 and its much better!
hello double0ek
if you dont mind i would like to know how to get my sim card working as well
thanks
Could I have a PM as well?

So I was wondering if and when these fixes will be posted. I would love to try dn4. I have loaded it and get all the same issues. If someone could pm me too that would be awesome. Already tried everything that worked for dn3v5. Hope I'm not overstepping my bounds( new to forum here)
