[Q] Random apps disappearing, turns into com.appname - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running Gedemis's latest ROM and Bytecode's latest kernel. My problem is that every time I boot or reboot my Kindle Fire, a random number of apps disappear from my launcher. I noticed from the Settings >> Apps listing that apps randomly turn into com.appname, instead of just App Name which appears to be the case for all the other downloaded apps. When I reboot, a different set of apps would have disappeared. Ideas, anyone?

I think I had that happen w/ one app and only one time so far. I just reinstalled it.
Thought it was odd at the time and didn't notice that it had anything to do with a reboot but it could have.

[Q] Please help, no clue what happened!

Hey guys,
About an hour ago I was checking my phone to see my messages. When I was done I wanted to listen to some music, but strangely, the music widget wasn't responding. So I looked up "music" with the search feature, but the app wasn't found. So I looked again, this time in the All Apps page, but it wasn't there. I checked the phones storage, where you can remove and stop apps, and the app was listed, but it was grayed out. When I clicked on it, it looked normal, but it said "Total: 80.00KB, Application: 0.00B, Data: 80.00KB" Now correct me if I am wrong but I'm pretty sure the application should be taking up some memory.
Tl;Dr: The stock HTC music player has disappeared (Kind of), what should/can I do?
I take it you're on the stock ROM? There's a HUGE bug where system apps randomly disappear. The only fix is a factory reset. I have found that it usually occurs when removing apps via settings/applications/manage applications. I had the phone for about 2 months or so before I rooted it. I did 4 factory resets due to that issue.
Yea I had a similar issue when I was stock. A factory reset needs to be done.

[Q] Proper flashing of ics rom

I've been running the ICS roms on my kindle fire for 2 months now and wanted to start out by thanking everyone involved in it's development (currently cm9.2.24 and current gapps). I spend a lot of time reading the posts and learning as I go.
I read a lot about black screens and screen lock ups but until recently it only happened occasionally to my device. For the last 3 updates my device has been experiencing each constantly. every time my screen goes to sleep or i turn it off I either open up a frozen screen or a black screen and I need to do a restart to get it to work again. and I haven't seen any comments in the development thread that describe this happening to this extent.
My question is...Is this happening to everyone else or might I be doing something wrong. This isn't my primary device and I can deal with it if happening to everyone and I enjoy the tinkering but I'm thinking its more me and something I'm missing. What is MD5?
When I flash the rom i wipe I do a factory reset, clear delvik cache, cache, and system. and simply restart. Should I be doing more? thanks for your help.
My kindle turns on just fine after sitting for hours or even all night. This may be due to the fact that I have wifi keep alive installed so the wifi never shuts off.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I have also been updating routinely keeping abreast of the latest ICS and have not had any problems so far doing he same cleaning. Could an app be the cause?
MD5 is a way to check to make sure you haven't downloaded and are about to install a corrupted file. You can download a program like MD5 Calculator and check the value of the file on your computer against what the value is supposed to be
I had this issue before with another device. It was wifi going to sleep and not wanting to wakeup... try downloading some sort of powermanagement app and set wifi to.never sleep
Thanks for the help. I thought early on that the problem might arise from an app and have held off installing apps once I flash and it still happen right away. I've read about others with issues related to wifi but never considered that might be my issue. I'll give that a try and let you know if that takes care of it. thanks for the suggestions and with the md5 clarification.
I've set my wifi to always on for 24 hours now and the same issues are still happening constantly. I've also removed the bulk of my downloaded apps to test if they are causing the issue. I only have words w/ friends, g-reader and gmail on the kindle which I assume are fairly popular and others are using too. if I try to re-flash should I wipe more than what I listed in the OP (factory reset, delvik, cache and system) ? issues again are constant black screen and frozen screen. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Are you still having the issue? Im suprised that didnt fix it. 99 percent of the time screen of death is wifi sleep problems.
It happened to mine this morning ...
I tried to turn on/ return from sleep mode this morning, and it was the Black screen ... had to hold for 30secs, before it would boot.
I think my issue was related to an alternate Keyboard App I had installed - Touch Pal. It was working perfectly for several days then this morning after the reboot gave me constant FC errors, until I removed the app, with root explorer.

[Q] Ask Sandvold to view some logcats!!!!!!!!

As i havent made 10 posts in the forums, i can not post in the rom thread, but could anyone have Sandvold to take a look at those logcats and tell me if there´s a fix. My issue is that upon half of the boots/reboots gapps FCs and after that phone app FCs and after phone app android.process.acore FCs. Then it says new sim card added and that i should reboot the phone. If i press the back button, that window closes and sometimes, the phone works as usual, sometimes it just loops this thing. It´s like a loop where this things FC, start, FC, start and it never stops. My solution is to reboot the phone a couple of times until it works normally. Also, if i wipe dalvik+cache, these issues stay away for 1 or 2 days.
So please, ask Sandvold to have a look.

Logcat 1 which begins when it has been looping like 6 times
h**p://pastebin.com/9KnjpphA
Logcat 2 which begins directly after launcher starts
the adresses are changed because i can´t post links
Mods, yes i think this thread is a question because im ASKING someone to tell Sandvold about my issues.
Send him a PM, so you can tell it hin yourself.
Like that I'm in contact with a Develepor, too.

Slow Camera

My HTC One m8 camera takes several seconds to respond to touch-commands. I've read many fora and this one appears to be the most helpful. I tried deleting cache and data, rebooting, deleting cache partitions, disabling/enabling and Ive gotten the camera to go from largely unresponsive to "responds after 5 seconds". The problems started after I had cut a bunch of pictures from my phone - I simply did this in windows explorer (worked fine for my HTC One Mini) and didn't "remove safely". I have a feeling the connection between gallery and camera is somehow obstructed but also other commands such as flash/camera-mode respond very slowly.
Does anyone have experience with this problem?
Thank you in advance for any help/advice!
Joachim
Friendly advice to a new user, please search (or even just take a minute to look at) the forum before posting a new thread.
This issue was already been discussed at length, with solution posted, on the following thread which (currently) is just 2 threads below yours (meaning it was right at the top of the forums around the time you posted):

app freezing issue ?

hey this is my first post in this forum hope I'm in the correct area-
Im having an issue with two apps in particular that freeze the app/sometimes phone. First facebook - when typing a message when it pulls up a tag to suggest a person's name to tag it freezes the app and i must back out of the message. Second - just surfing in instagram it will freeze lockup the whole app. I've tried cache cleaning. I've really enjoyed this phone so far, the frequency that I use these two apps though its becoming more frustrating. anyone else encountered this.

Yeah, I have seen this as well with Instagram. Randomly happens. Locks up and have to force quit the app. Latest updates have not helped either. I have also noticed when using immersive mode, and doing an instagram story, you cannot add text. Not that has anything to do with your issues, but just a heads up.
