[Q] Deactivate Sound in icecream sandwich - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks
I have installed the following rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411895&page=257
I'm wondering if I'm too stupid to deactivate the sounds when writing something or if this feature is not included?
Thanks for your help.
PS: If I took the wrong place to write this, I'm sry

Settings sounds volumes there are multiple versions of ICS your link doesn't provide much info you can find a full list here they all have different options for sound http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637130

Sry I took the wrong link.
I meant this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411895&page=145
I got the link from a step by step instruction. Is it not the newest one?
Thanks

Yes its pretty old I would suggest this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591850 here's the download link http://bit.ly/L3LCgP and don't forget to flash gapps after you flash the rom http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip make a backup and do a good wipe everything except your SD card before you flash rom and gapps

Thank you very much. There were too much different systems that I could choose the right one. I will try your suggestion.

If you're talking about the key clicks when using the keyboard, they are disabled in the keyboard settings.

>> This is as AOSP as you can get (with a few additions here & there, mostly hardware support).
Optimisations: both kernel as well as userland; there is no need to get into the technical details & how this rom differs from others; I'm not a supporter of self-propaganda. See for yourself.
>> [email protected] is geared towards my private needs. It certainly isn't built to "satisfy the masses", although it should be able to serve as a stable and performant base for most of you. My personal philosophy is minimalism, performance and stability, which is why you should bear in mind that this is an AOSP/vanilla ROM (no Sense or other bloated UI). The standard launcher is apex; there is thus no need to upload screenshots.
>> You need to install all your favourite software. Since everyone has his own preferences, these would be treated as bloat by some people should they have been bundled with the release. Which is why I uploaded a skinny version.

>> I will not be posting changelogs so do not ask for those. Do not ask for additional features. Do not ask for CW zips. The only format I will be posting is a system image. Bug fix uploads are referenced in the post concerning the release, as well as a short note in post #1.

why system.img no .zip to flash?
Due to certain habits of mine, I find it easier to maintain a loop image instead of a zip.
Is it CM based or AOKP or pure AOSP build from google source? I believe you were also working on CM based rom. What happened to that?

Pure AOSP (with just a few patches adding proper hardware support & functionality). It's stated in the 1st post.
This is NOT cm/aokp, & no, I was never working on a cm version. I just posted in interpresentation's thread.
I installed this yesterday. It seems rock solid, battery life seems great and no issues so far. The only little problem I'm having, not really a problem, but the /system seems to be packed mighty tight. I use mybackup pro to restore my apn settings which needs to be in /system/apps and theres no space for it. Even adaway was complaining that there wasnt any room for the hosts file.
I havent had my One X for long but one of the better Roms for sure
any screen shots please?
guess there is no way to customize toggles on notification bar or am i missing something?

I'll try to leave a few mb's next time. My next build is ready, with even more optimisations, but I might not have time to upload it today.

Are you htcdev unlocked?
In any case, the image is a standard ext4 loopback; you can extract the files & add them to a regular update-zip.
Seems my IMEI has disappeared. Does anyone else have this?
I'm very interested in this, I love minimalism too and I'm always looking for ROMS that are just clean, without all the extra apps, tweaks and whatnot that developers tend to throw in.
Just a question though, I'll be needing g-apps for this right? To get the Google Market and what not, which g-apps version will work best with this, or are the Google apps already included in this ROM?
Also, how is the stability? Do apps crash often? I have been on all the other AOSP based ROMS and I've had problems with the below apps, can anyone with this ROM see and if they work normally?
Instagram (Try going into settings and other sections of the app, it always crashed on me when doing that)
Zedge
EDIT: I can confirm that this ROM is just awesome.
It's the fastest I've tried yet, and haven't come across a single FC/crash/freeze yet and I've tried a lot of apps and changed a lot of settings.
Thanks a lot for this!

Slidepad 704CET JB 4.2.2

CAUTION: USE THIS ROM AS YOUR OWN RISK.......Be sure you have the official rom in case it is not working for you. It appears that even though you have the same tablet Reference, depending on when you buy it, hardware might be a bit different and most likely you will take the risk of having a unusable Touch screen or wifi...
It works for me on my SP704CET bought in France. (I use LSMOD and here the loaded driver: mxc622x, rtl8150, mcs 7830, qf9700, asix, sun5i_csi, gc0308, camera, cedarx, mali, gsl1680, gt811, byd693x,ZET622X, ssd253x, ft5x_ts)
Hi all,
If anyone is interrested in J.B.4.2.2 for Memup SlidePad 704 CET (Only CET, I did not test on 704 CE.
I can post the rom image created... (I will post it later on tonight)
Leave me a private message if you need it.
Content of the ROM
- Rom basically design for Manta13
- Your device will have MID13 as name (No more CET704)
- Jelly Bean 4.2.2
- Fast rom (Menu and all are way faster than 4.1.1 original firmware)
- CWM mod recovery working out of the box
- Root device with Play store.
This ROM come as east country language first, you need to go to setting icon, the language (Icon with a White A letter) and the first option will be language, select yours.
to check you table model, look on the back of the table, even if on the back it says 704CE, you need to look at the white sticker that will say if it is a CE or CET.
As usual, to flash the image, go to boot loader and use livesuite 1.7.
Procedure on the SP704CET with livesuit:
- completly turn off the tablet, unplug cable
- start livesuite and select the downloaded image file
- keep the VOL- button pressed and plug the usb cable
- without releasing the VOL- button press the Power button 6 times.
- You should hear windows sound saying a USB device has been plugged
- if windows request it, install the driver from Livesuitefolder\usbdriver
- Livesuite should automatically start the flashing process.
- when prompted, "Format device" press YEs. (It might take a minute)
- When it s 100% you tablet should reboot.
Done.

Note: I did not invent anything, thanks to the good work of MANTA team members. I just found out this rom works, I just had to modify the touchscreen drivers and idc files.
Cheers
I managed to create an other rom:
link:
Linked removed, this rom is bogus. Use the 1st one, i will try to update it again when i get back
Same version as the previous one with:
- Change to build.prop to match the tablet name 704CET (previous rom was detected as MANTA MID13, from the originial rom)
- Modified boot animation
- added some JellyBam tweak and application (if needed you can installed them from the apk files located in /system/app)
- Add Jellybam static and dynamic wall paper
- other small modifications
Let me know if you like it.
Small hick, you will need to reinstall firefox, the version I add to the rom is not working after first boot
go to /system/app and install jellybam launcher etc...
I hope you will like it, this is only my second rom cooking
Cheers
Guys,
Can you let me know what do you think of this rom? any customization idea I might integrate in a newer version?
Also let me know if that works for you..
if someone has a 704CE and can test the rom.... I can make another verison for 704 CE if you letme know the driver you need (Use an original rom, install any terminal emulator and run lsmod and post the result, just the loaded module names.)
Thanks.

2 thing comes to my mind. First, try to restore with the original firmware first, make sure it, works. Then try to reapply the rom ( use the first one i post, i found out the second one is bogus and my tablet is restarting by herself from time to time.
From the screen shot it looks like your tablet doesnot have same nand mapping as mine. Try the first rom and letmme know. Cheers

You can read the first post of this thread, basically no problem, you can do it whenever as you have to switch to Bootloader mode.
It will replace your current rom and delete everything you have on the tablet.
Good luck

you can use the Faaast JB custom rom with the correct driver
Hi, I cannot test this rom on 704CE as I do not have this tablet anymore. Also, this rom is for 704 CET so it will not work on CE. This is a driver issue... so the rom should install fine but you might have no TOuchscreen or no Wifi.....
If you know about replacing a driver in Android, you might want to try it (make sure you have the original rom just in case)
I manage to do this driver thing on my 704 CET tablet and it works well. you can help yourself with this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42274265
you can even use this rom (Fast jelly bean custom rom) and download the needed driver... (For your information, I have tested this fast JB rom on my 704 CET with the appropriate driver and it works fine, and it is super fast) . If you want to know the driver use on your tablet, run a adb shell and type lsmod (You will have a list of loaded/used driver.)
My advice, if you dont know how to use adb command, do not try it.
I hope this will help.
Best regards.

[Q] Detailed Instructions for a total noobie :)

Hello guys.
I am a brand new Android user and a total noob when it comes to the whole terminology here (ROMs,Kernel, flash etc). I've been reading a lot and i got better i must say,but i still need to ask some questions and get some instructions.
I have a Samsung Galaxy ACE II - GTI 8160
The phone is rooted,i have SuperSU and this is the info bout the phone.
Firmware : I8180XXMF1
Kernel : 3.0.31D-K_v1.RC15
Android Version : 4.1.2. (official)
I'd like to flash a new ROM,and more specifically the 10.1 CM.
My questions are. Does the current firmware and Kernel version that my phone has, meet the requirements to flash the new ROM right away?
Even if they do,shall i "upgrade" Kernel to something better to increase performance (since i dont think i can upgrade firmware, couldnt find a newer Greek version).
New ROM will support Greek language normally?
Is there anything else i should notice before starting the procedure?
I'd appreciate some specific step to step instuctions of what should i do before flashing,if ofcourse there is something i should do.
Thank u in advance and sorry if there is a similar topic and i missed it

I have determined I am an idiot. I downloaded the rom and tried to change the stuff you have listed and no love. If you have a chance to get it uploaded ( mega.co.nz with a public link maybe.....) please share would love to give it a shot.

I got it to work at 3 in the morning so if I forgot something I'm sorry in advanced it's halfway uploaded right now with the changes in the script. Hope this helps. I also flashed with Philz recovery if that makes any difference

No apologies needed at all. Don't know if one version of the recovery matters or not. I know it did way back in the days of the CLIQ but I'm hoping not this far along

after doing a lot of research i have sucsesfully installed lollipop onto my s3 and got the camera to work with the camera for android app from the play store. the data also works the build i installed is the 12-20141125-unofficial-d2att after changing the script file to include d2tmo instead of the d2att. works great no real bugs except the time stamp on hangout mesages which is fixed by setting the time on the phone to network but turning of the reginal time set. thought this would be nice to share.
ps: stock camera and google camera still do not work but everything else does so this can be used as a daily driver links below to camera and build:
camera: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.photo.android.camera&hl=en
build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/orig-development/cyanogenmod-12-t2944071
Added screen shots of apps used speed test and the edit that needs to be made to script file to make installable
lollipop for d2tmo install instructions
WHAT YOU NEED
the build location:
12-20141125-unofficial-d2att link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/orig-development/cyanogenmod-12-t2944071
in the same link is superSU
also will need gapps 5.0 lollipop
"camera for android" ( stock camera and google camera DOES NOT work)
link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.photo.android.camera&hl=en
total commander
instructions to exit the updater-script file to make the build installable on your d2tmo
1. open the file in total commander
2. META-INF> COM>GOOGLE>ANDROID
3. open and edit the updater-script by long pressing the file choosing unpack+edit
4. change d2att to d2tmo in the first line P.s. theres two words change both
5. go back and the editing is done now just wipe everything and flash just like any other rom the boot up takes about 8 to 9mins so dont worry about it being stuck in a loop, it isn't
do not forget to download superSU from the same link as the build and have gapps 5.0 when you flash
flash in this order: rom, gapps, superSU

Best ROM suggestion for XPERIA S...

Hey forum!
I'm looking for the best combination of some key functionality:
Stability
Camera (activate/snap with button as on stock ROM), is this possible out of stock ROM at all?
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) support but I guess that it is supported in newer ROM versions? Hardware should support it.
Most amount of memory/space available for apps, more than stock ROM possible?
Has to be Android 4.3 at least
Any suggestions of a good ROM which fulfills the above?
TIA!
If u want stability + camera + memory for apps and games then u need a ROM that is naosp 6.0 by mickybart's
but u need to reparation your device memory table to use this ROM

Sounds great!
I have a couple of follow-up questions that I hope someone can answer quite quickly:
1. Should I choose version 5 or 6 (I just want the functions I listed and speed and stability are important)?
2. I understand that I need to re-partition the phone but does that apply to version 5 as well?
3. Is there a *complete* guide if you're on stock ROM and have done zilch/zero/nothing yet to the phone?
Thanks!

1. Choose version 6, it has more updates.
2. Nope, it doesn't apply to version 5.
3. You wouldn't find a complete guide in one place, but I can give You pointers here which will lead You to correct searches.
Rooting : use towelroot app. Not available on playstore, search for "towelroot by geohot". It will root Your phone.
Backup TA partition: backup Your TA partition using tool here.
Unlock bootloader : Link.
Then try following the guide from respective ROM thread to flash the ROM!
I am also in the exact same situation, before I start though I was wondering if there is a way to "easily" back up and restore sms messages & whatsapp messages (along with pictures, though I can copy all the pictures easily on the PC and restore them - but I am unsure if this places them back in the correct order etc) - the rest should be easy to backup and restore just not sure about these 2
thanks in advance
p.s. @verma.arun833 & @Mirhawk
as per the original post I am looking for the most STABLE rom out there to date that is android V4.3.1 or higher - I am also a complete noob too and the easier the better but priority is stability - is naosp 6.0 the best choice here still?
Yup naosp 6.0.1 is best and stable at the moment and updated tooo bro try that ?

You can backup Your sms using this app, I use it and it is the best so far. For WhatsApp, backup using the in app backup and copy the WhatsApp folder from internal storage of phone to PC. Then after flashing the new ROM, copy the WhatsApp folder back to internal storage, install WhatsApp and it will automatically restore it.
And yes, nAOSP 6.0 is still the preferred ROM as it is stable as of now and is receiving constant update. If You want extremely stable but above 4.3.1 ROM, then I would suggest last updated version of Carbon ROM(4.4.4). It is of KitKat version, but has many features and doesn't require re-partitioning of device.
