[RECOVERY][Epic4GTouch] TWRP 2.6.3.0 touch recovery [2013-09-16] - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Note this is for CM10+ and possibly other AOSP based kernels ONLY!
Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

CHANGELOG for 2.6.3.0:
-Proper backup and restore of SELinux contexts (thanks to Tassadar)
-Pull in some ROM information for backup name generation
-Merge all recent patches from AOSP bringing TWRP up to date with Android 4.3
-Add 1200x1920 theme (thanks to Tassadar)
-A few other fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.1.0:
-Initial SELinux support (only a few devices, need testers so come by IRC if your device doesn't have it and needs it)
-Initial support for f2fs file system formatting (Moto X)
-Update SuperSU install for 4.3 ROMs
-Fixed a permissions bug on files created during backup
-Fixed a bug that caused TWRP to not wait for compressed backups to finish causing 0 byte files and md5sums to not match
-Fixed decryption of encrypted data so that both TouchWiz and AOSP decryption are possible
-Ignore lost+found folder during backup and size calculations
-Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.0.0:
Special Note: If you are running a custom theme, you will likely need to remove that theme before updating to 2.6.0.0 as your custom theme will likely not have some of the new changes visible (e.g. you won't be able to encrypt a backup)!
-Can encrypt a backup to prevent theft of private data from your backup files
-Updated graphics / icon courtesy of shift
-Updated exFAT to latest commits
-Fixed a problem with Samsung TouchWiz decryption
-Update SuperSU binary
-Fixed saving of backup partitions list
-Fixed saving of last used zip install folder
-Fixed backup of datadata on devices that use a separate partition for datadata
-Fixed some issues with the advanced wipe list (android_secure, can now wipe internal storage on data/media deivces and wipe data on the advanced list no longer formats the entire data partition)
-Fixed some problems with partitioning a SD card
-Various other bug fixes and tweaks
Notes about encrypted backups:
Why encrypt your backups? -- Most people store their backups on the device. Any app that has permission to access storage could potentially read your backup files and try to harvest your data. Encrypted backups also provide an added layer of security if you move your backups to other storage devices or to the cloud. The encryption that we're using is probably not strong enough for enterprise level security, but should be strong enough to make it significantly difficult to get to your data.
Encryption is using OpenAES which uses AES 128-bit cbc encryption. If you happen to use a longer password (over 16 characters) then the encryption strength improves to 192 or 256 bits. Do not forget your password. If you forget your password you will be unable to restore your backup. We don't encrypt the entire backup. Encryption is very CPU intensive and can be fairly slow even when we spread the workload over multiple cores even on the latest high-end devices. To ensure that encrypted backups don't take forever, we don't encrypt any other partitions besides /data and in /data we don't encrypt /data/app (or other app related directories where apks are stored) and we don't encrypt dalvik cache.
DOWNLOAD:
The fastest and easiest way to install TWRP is to use the GooManager app:
Play Store Link
Direct Download
1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery
OR:
You can find more information and download links on our website!
BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 40 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to PM me directly, contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that's struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!
SUPPORT:
Live support is available via #twrp on Freenode with your IRC client or just click this link.

No and currently.. no.
Note "for cm9" in thread title.
The recovery can certainly be packed into a gingerbread kernel, however, this isn't that kernel.

second. the dd command given on the op, runs just fine from the phone, if you know what you are doing.
if you cant figure that out, please don't flash it.. we don't need more people who can't read bricking phones and blaming the software for their ignorance and laziness..

grats, my mean spirited post of the day goes to you. this recovery started from scratch (TWRP) with a few people behind it, but mostly from what ive seen is the work of dees_troy making it into what it is today. he has been working for along time to get it working for us.
the first thing you can think of is well hell this is too hard i need something done even easier for me.

Clockwork Mod date problems

It seems that every backup I make has a date in like 1970. It's quite confusing to figure out which backup is which.
Any ideas? I'm running CWM 5.8.4.5 because any newer ones don't see the external SD card.
AFAIK all versions do this, use team win (TWRP) It will have the date wrong as well but it had a keyboard in the recovery for renaming as you create them. Plus sd card works and it's prettier.

Great, thanks, I love managing backup names and such with rom manager, it's a shame it's a bit flaky on the SGS3.

Agree - just switched to TWRP the other day and ext SD card + "star trek" UI was welcome. The file copy/move/delete functions are especially handly because they can you out of a potential bootloop quickly that you can't get out of in CWM without reflashing/nandroid (or writing your own CWM script to specifically mod a file).
Only reason I waited so long to switch was not knowing how incompatible TWRP would be with all the various old CWM zips.

That's part of the new CWM Nandroid backup structure.
It makes bulk of it's backups to blobs and update to include changes in subsequent backups, saves space and reduces nand write cycles on multiple backups. Don't delete it when deleting old backups, instead just delete the dated backup folders and the blobs folder will get trimmed by CWM when running future backups. If you delete blobs the individual backups would fail.
op is updated with 6.0.1.5 TOUCH BASED, i have kept the NON TOUCH based recovery up too

[ROM][JB][ODIN][TAR]SPH-D710 FK23 (TAR Only)

We have finally gotten permission to post the TAR for the recent Sprint SPH-D710 FK23 build!
This build takes everything from FK09 and makes it much more stable and we have seen very little in the way of bugs. It appears that this build may actually be an OTA candidate as well.
The list of the changes we discovered from our Discussion thread has been copied from the General thread to this thread as Post #2. Screenshots are still available there.
I've compiled a few Screencast videos showing a few of the features that we've found in JB.
Lockscreen Features Overview
Launcher Features Overview
Motion Features Overview
Samsung Keyboard Features Overview
Flashing the TAR will result in ALL Internal Storage being wiped. Be sure to backup everything!
The TAR is completely stock and is not rooted (for instructions on how to root please visit my Repo How-To Pages). It must be flashed with Odin as Mobile Odin does not flash modems correctly. If you don't use Odin you will not be able to flash the modem and this build is not compatible with any other modem (also this modem doesn't appear to be compatible with ICS or GB).
For downloads go here: http://www.rwilco12.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=23
Enjoy!
What we've discovered from FK23:
FK23 modem fixes Mute bug in FK09.
ICS and GB modems are not compatible with FK23.
Internal Storage still wiped...
New feature for shorthand writing rather than QWERTY input on Samsung Keyboard (kind of like Palm's old Graffiti Keyboard). http://youtu.be/u6uR7fuYS00
Bloat apps have been updated since FK09.
Extended Toggles gone (now it's back to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sound and 4G).
And more!!!
What we've discovered from FK09:
Older modems not compatible with FK09. You will lose 3G and 4G without the FK09 or FK23 modem installed.
Several apps needing updates (Google Play Books, Google Play Magazines, Google Play Music, Google+, Maps, NASCAR, Sprint TV & Movies, YouTube, mSpot Radio, Sprint Music Plus and Telenav).
Working Google Now!
Cob can finally rejoice! The Recent Apps display bug is finally fixed!
Loads of new Motion options!
TW Launcher massively updated!
Default keyboard has Swype like support (and in my opinion is better than the 4.2 Android KB!).
Connections optimizer is back (but it's oddly not as invasive or as much of a bother as before).
LOADS of Lock Screen options!
LED control options.
Blocking mode (like a customizable airplane mode and call blocker in one).
Battery percentage display off by default. When enabled it shows to the left of the battery rather than on top of the battery (see screenshots).
Long press on toggle takes you to the corresponding settings menu.
Extended Power Menu built in (little bit different from what you'd see on a custom ROM)
More to come!
Reserved.

Garwynn, did you update the root method? I know there is one, but I remember hearing that there was a permissions issue with the root method on 23.

[RECOVERY] TWRP 2.6.1.0 touch recovery [2013-08-29]

"Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel."
What's new in 2.6.1.0:
~Initial SELinux support (only a few devices, need testers so come by IRC if your device doesn't have it and needs it)
~Initial support for f2fs file system formatting (Moto X)
~Update SuperSU install for 4.3 ROMs
~Fixed a permissions bug on files created during backup
~Fixed a bug that caused TWRP to not wait for compressed backups to finish causing 0 byte files and md5sums to not match
~Fixed decryption of encrypted data so that both TouchWiz and AOSP decryption are possible
~Ignore lost+found folder during backup and size calculations
~Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks
Download:
The fastest and easiest way to install TWRP is to use the GooManager app:
Play Store Link
Direct Download
1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery
OR:
You can find more information and download links on our website!
Install:
Please go to TeamWin's download page for our device here, and install via the following instructions (found here):
"Download the above file. Turn off your device. Turn on the device while holding volume down until the boot screen shows up. The device will now be in fastboot mode. Plug the device into your computer. If you have the right drivers installed you will be able to use fastboot. Run the following command via the command line:
fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img
Note that you will need to change the last part to match the name of the file that you just downloaded. You will also need adb and fastboot for your computer."
Notes:
~GooManager did not show any updates from 2.6.0.0 (at least for me), and I haven't seen or had time to make a flashable zip yet, so it looks like installing the .img via fastboot is the only way to update (for now).
~One of the changes listed is an update to SuperSU for 4.3. I was really hoping this might fix the rebooting issue I and a few others have with 4.3 ROMs, but unfortunately it doesn't seem so (at least in my case).
Credits:
All credit for this release goes to TeamWin.
I take no credit for this, just came across it via TeamWin's page for our device and didn't see it posted anywhere here yet.

Do you mind testing it? Make a backup and then boot your rom and try to copy it to a pc with a usb connection. TWRP always give an error and wont copy because of the encryption added in.

Stock NE2 [ROOTED][DEKNOXED][09-01-2014][Odex & Deodex]

Welcome to the first fully working almost stock NE2 rom. It has all of the stock apps (including dialer) working along with all the stock functions (spen clipping). I call it almost stock because there are some changes such as tweaks and root included. I have a modified android.permissions.jar to enable the reboot menu and added init.d support to the stock kernel. Talking about the stock kernel I have also modified the ram-disk to completely remove knox. Also added in a few tweaks while I was in there.
Right now the rom will be released as Deodexed but I am working on a special odexed version with every app odexed. The ota and tar have most things odexed but not everything. Even my addon apps will be odexed. Only deodexed will be the apps you install.
Links and change logs will be located in post #2 when they are ready for public use. Change logs may appear before the link. If there is a change log and no link then it is being tested and is not ready for public use yet.
If you have an issue please report which rom version you are using (this will be located in about device under settings) and if possible add a logcat. Logcats will give the information I need to help fix the issue. If your issue shows up after you restored with TB or any other such app then it is your issue and not mine. I will only support issues with the apps I included and only if you follow every single step in my install instructions. I have way too much to do as it is without trying to fix your mistakes or some other devs apps.

only thing not Odexed are the apps you install
If you delete/uninstall any apps make sure you remove the .odex files afterwards

Cricket MMS settings
This is the work of @mrwright83 and he has been nice enough to share so please remember to thank him.
1. go to your data settings by hitting ##3282# and select edit (depending on rom might have to enter msl)
2. go to mmsc and change it to this http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms?x-cricket-mdn=999_999_9999 (9's are your phone number)
3. then go your mms proxy and change it to wap.mycricket.com
4. lastly go to mms port and change it to 8080
And that's it
For anyone wanting to use this as a base for your own custom rom feel free and remember to give credit and a link to this thread in your OP. There is no need to ask for my permission to use this since the main reason it is here is for a base for custom roms.

No problem. I know how painful these factory releases can be so this should help.

Just flashed, so far so good! Not much different, other than the gps location is more complicated.
I've tried many times and can't flash this. keep getting error status 7...
keep getting unable to mount /preload
thanks, but did not work for me
stuck at the samsung logo after reboot.

Try different versions of philz recovery or reflash the version you are using now should fix that error I would think.

Use philz 6.07.9 and you won't have a problem.
