I'm on Telus with an SGH-T989 (which I think is the same as the T-Mobile). Just got the update to ICS (4.0.3 I think). I was trying to figure out why the e-mail client was working with Exchange as it had been before the update. There was something listed in security policies about SD card encryption being disabled, so I thought I'd try encrypting the SD card to see if that would fix my e-mail.
However, once the encryption was done, I wasn't able to access any of the applications I had moved to SD. I also wasn't able to move any other applications over to SD. Is this a "feature" of SD encryption - can't move apps to the SD when turned on? Seems somewhat surprising. I can view the SD just fine through file explorer. Just can't run the apps that were previously moved to the SD.
It also didn't solve my original problem, which was being able to access Exchange e-mail, which still didn't work. Oddly enough, I could send e-mails out through the Exchange account, but it doesn't retrieve e-mail or sync calendar. When I try to hit "refresh" it just pops up with a "last updated" message showing the current time, but none of the new e-mails. No error message.
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Hello folks,
I currently have an Excalibur (Dash) phone. Does anyone know or happen to have a workaround fix to re-direct temporary memory or available memory to the storage card instead? I just keep getting "memory is full" issue whenever I try to start my camera phone even though I've already close down all app running.
Thanks in advance
Check Applications Installed
It seems that there are various applications on your Dash which are installed on phone memory itself. Normally, while installing an application, it asks if you want to install it on phone or storage card. Best way is to install them on storage card, but remember if you ever replace your storage card, the installed apps will not work and you will have to reinstall them. Also, if you are using email software on it to download mail and attachments, you can change settings so that they are stored on storage card.
I suggest to check your phone for apps which are installed on it and remove the ones you feel are no longer needed. Alternately if you decide to keep them, uninstall them and reinstall them on your storage card. But remember, any data or settings generated through those apps will not be available once you uninstall them.
Hope it provides some pointers.
Cheers,
KC
Great advise KC! I will check those and let you know if I am still having the same issue.
Cheers!!
Hi All,
I recently installed the latest MightyROM (2-10-10) but now cannot get my Exchange OTA ActiveSync working for my corporate e-mail.
Did some digging, and figured out that the issue is that my corporate Exchange security policy requires both devce and SD card encryption on any devices connecting to OTA ActiveSync.
Further searching revealed that SD card encryption was *removed* from MightyROM starting a few versions back.
I know for sure that my device is missing both encfilt.dll and mencfilt.dll which seem to be required for SD card encryption (the details of which I'm not familiar with).
So the question is: Is there any way at all for me to add SD card encryption back to the ROM, preferably without having to re-flash?
Can I somehow get copies of encfilt.dll and mencfilt.dll and register them on the device?
Any ideas / CABs that might help is greatly appreciated!!
Many thanks in advance.

regsrvceGUI.exe I believe is what you can use to register the .dll files. I however can not get it to copy out of the windows directory...
I did find this reg key and you can try to set it and see if it flies... Remember to do a backup and all that stuff. (I'm not 100% it applies to the SD card or not). And I do not know if you need those two files for it to work so use at your own risk.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\E NCFilt]
'EncryptByDefault'=dword:1 (change from 0 to 1)
Soft reset
I will keep trying to figure out how to remove this file from my device so I can share it with you.
If that doesn't fly, then maybe you need to go back to an earlier rom. ???
Thanks! (for your response here and on PPCgeeks
That reg tweak you posted makes the UI appear like SD encryption is enabled, but it's not actually running (as key files are missing).
You're right, I may have to downgrade my ROM, but hoping there's an easier solution!
Which ROM version are you using?
Thanks.
BTW, when I try to sync without SD Card encryption, I get the 85010013 error code in activesync, which is pretty generic -- not sure if this info helps.
Hoping someone can chime in with more ideas.
I just found this post and was wondering if you solved your problem? I'm getting the same errors but I can't find out how to encrypt the entire handset just the SD card.
Ok, so I've searched and searched all over the net for a fix but none seem to work. We are using Airwatch (MDM) at work. I wanted to remove it, so I removed the work Email and I removed Airwatch (removed it under device admin) then uninstalled it. But still every option under screen lock is greyed out and listed as disabled by my Admin except Password (High Security). I've also done Clear Credentials and made sure I de-encrypted the device and MicroSD card.
Any other suggestions short of wiping the device?
***update*** it looks like the MicroSD card never got de-crypted and was causing the issue. The odd thing is I even removed the MicroSD card for testing and everything was still locked out.
I've used dropsync for a couple of years with no problems.
Last night my tablet 10.1 (2014) upgraded to Kitkat. Everythings seems to be working itself out except that I cannot get dropsync set up. It recognizes the folder to be synced on my tablet, but it cannot load the folder from dropbox. (I can access dropbox from the tablet so I don't understand why the dropsync app can't load.)
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Barb
If your locally synced folder is on an SD card, the newly enforced external SD card permissions in KK are a major problem with dropsync. Root and edit build props to turn off the access restriction or limit sync to folders on internal memory is where the upgrade lands you.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Neither of my files were on the SD card, though -
In the meantime the developer responded to my question. He asked me to check the date and time, and I found that the date was off by a day. Corrected it, rebooted, and now everything is syncing just fine. If anyone is looking for a way to sync folders between devices, this app (dropsync) really is great.

Let me say, I'm aware of the new KK parameters that doesn't allow apps certain SD card rights. HOWEVER, I'm running a ROM w/ SD card fix enabled. I can successfully write to sdcard and, with certain applications such as ezPDF and Kingsoft, I can make changes to files on my sd card.
I can't make changes to files with my preferred office apps: Hancom or Polaris Office. Can we figure out why and fix it?
I'm guessing it has something to do with the permissions of those apps and/or what group (UID or GID) they are assigned to.
Thoughts?
I feel your pain....

I know how you feel dude, this is coming from someone on jellybean who has tried everything. I have tried the sdfix app, adding the permission manually, wiping the sdcard and I still can't add or delete files off my sdcard. At least you have some write access as opposed to me :silly:
No informed inputs? Can't those that are knowledgeable do a little comparison between the Note 12.2 and our ROMs and identify what would be needed to save to SD card? Without knowing anything about coding, it would appear the programs have to be included as a group (UID/GID)--perhaps?
