I don't know what he is talking about, I don't come in the recovery etc...
Try booting the phone when holding volume down OR back and run the RUU again when booted.
I have the same problem... Wanted to revert to stock rom, got the 110 error, tried the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654119&page=16
BUT I can't even boot via "fastboot eom boot".. it fails.. which means i can't use adb, can't get root & can 't flash ....
help please!
Try fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
That should fix it

Still not able to fix........ Help pls
this may sound stupid, but did you try to just run the ruu again?
I just recently had the same issue and I solved it by flashing the stock hboot
( alpharev dot nl - sorry, I cannot post links) and running the RUU update again
EDIT: !FALSE ALARM!
Using fasboot i flashed a stock hboot and was then able to run RUU. Hope this will help someone else later
I know this is an ancient thread, but I have the exact same issue. My old desire shows little triangles with exclamation marks in each of the four corners of the screen. The only thing it responds to is running RUUs (I get a progress bar on my PC and on my Desire).
I cannot access the boot loader or anything. What to do? I can figure out rooting/roms/partitions etc if I spend 5 hours reading up on it, but I always forget the steps later on, so please be patient and precise if you want to explain something to me
Extra info:
- i made a smaller partition when i last installed a rom
- i have no access to fastboot nor adb
- I'm getting error 152 image update error as well
= I'm pretty sure I bricked my phone, right?
I had friends alpharev hboot RUU 1.8 r2 CM7 CM7 r2 installed the system has failed to establish when it comes hboot trying to open because of the HTC says the phone will not turn on the four corners bootloadder exclamation comes only allows you to install RUU ondada error occurs when installing the system please help
I'm not joking when I say I answer this question every day. It's not a dig at you in particular but why don't people get this?
The cm7 r2 partition is too small for a stock Rom. Also the hboot has write protection on it. You must flash the downgrade.img from the alpharev website in fastboot mode (from off, back+power) using fastboot commands THEN RUU
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
So, if you have already made the mistake of running the RUU first and gotten the error 110, can you still just go flash the downgrade.img and then RUU again or do you have to take stronger messures in hand to fix your mistake?
Edit: my friend made the mistake, which means i dont have the device on hand so i can see if thats even possible..
Yes you can, due to the fact that you are still S-OFF because the r2 Hboots by alpharev have an overwrite protection against RUU or OTA.
Yes you can. The only thing is the fastboot screen looks like 4 !!!! instead of the text it usually has, but it still functions
Do not have an opportunity to show a way to fix you happy
How about CWM? Would you be able to access that or has it been replaced or broken in some way?
(you might be able to read between the lines, that I dont know much about this stuff)
No, everything has gone except hboot. Fastboot flash downgrade.img then RUU is the ONLY fix

Thx m8's, really appreciate it, I've gone ahead and thumbed all your posts up
4 fastboot commands work well with an exclamation point on the screen is by HTC so I can do with downgrade.img and fastboot commands will open the RUU bootloader then yeah
So, my friend claims he got fastboot working and flashed the downgrader.img only to get a bootloader error 140 when running the RUU. Atm im trying to get him to use an RUU reported to work here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857245&highlight=140. Plz let me know if this is not the right approach.
It just means the RUU he has has too old a hboot version. What RUU is it?

I wouldn't use that. That 1 means its android 2.1 (Eclair). Very very old.
Unfortunately I cannot find any other .841. RUU's, only OTA's which you cannot use.

Once you have the downgrade.img flast via fastboot, Maybe the htcdev.com android 2.3 RUU will work as it is unbranded. It works for most branded devices, but I dont know for sure if your Carrier in your location is covered.
The RUU is here:
http://www.htcdev.com/process/legal_download/152
Go there, tick the agree box and proceed. Try to flash that (ONLY after flashing downgrade.img) and see what happens.
okay thank you I can not do tomorrow to try and take my phone to technical service to the technical service they said I had 132 USD I can change the motherboard they will send you a message right away thanks in advance

Right I am kinda at my wits end, I am trying to put my wifes Desire back to stock. I have tried installing the IMG file from the boot loader, I have tried using android flasher, and I have tried using the RUU programs. And I either get one of two responses, either The phone starts up with the usuall sounds but its a black screen the phone seems to have started up as the USB light comes on and when you press the screen on button the buttons at the bottom of the phone light up. OR I get stuck in a bootloop on the white HTC screen. where am I going wrong all I need is the desire back to some form of stock.
when I go into the bootloader it shows

Thank you for pointing it out, I was just trying to get help putting this phone back to standard and added as much information so I could get quick assistance. Apart from to point out a mistake on my part do you have anything to add to this thread? such as a solution??
All sorted, HBoot downgraded, Stock RUU installed but turning it into a PB99IMG file, happy day. Thanks JMCCLUE for your suggestions.
Hello fellow Desire owners,
I have gotten in trouble with my desire after running an RUU. I am aware that there are lots of threads concerning similar problems and I have read all of the relevant ones (including big troubleshooting guides), yet I have been unable to fix my problems. I was running a smooth setup of Miui, but got tired of it and wanted to compare it again with the stock ROM. I had done this before (sucessfully), so thought I would be fine by downloading a RUU file and running it. Then the problems started. After a whole day of messing with my phone I seem to have only gotten further away from solving it. The current state when I power it up is: black screen with silver HTC logo and 4 exclamanation marks in the corners. If I plug it into and out of my computer it displays the following information:

RUU
_
I tried flashing different RUU's several times, no luck. My phone is unbranded, but tried making a goldcard too (not sure if I did everything right to be honest concerning the goldcard) without luck. At first I was still S-OFF, and therefore able to use Android Flasher to flash hboots, radio's and recoveries to it. I tried flashing the stock hboot and then the downgrader, but that didn't seem to change anything for me. At one point I flashed a CWM recovery in and realized I still had some ROMs sitting on my SD-card and a Nandroid backup. Tried both options, but both resulted in having the same black HTC screen with the !-marks. That was the closest I have gotten, now I'm not even able to go into recovery anymore. All my tries with different RUU's have resulted in several different errors so far. I hope somebody here has any idea what I am doing wrong! Thank you in advance!
Kind regards,
Fabian
Tried flash 2.29 WWE RUU? what error number did RUU give you?
When I flash the 2.29 WWE RUU I get a 140-error: bootloader version error.
I was reading some more on the internet and saw somebody say that similar problems can be caused by running the RUU over a CM7-hboot that's too small for the stock ROM? Thank you for your help so far.
SOLVED!
I fixed my own problem by managing to download a 2.3.3 RUU from somewhere (since it's not on the HTC Dev website anymore) and that worked. All is good now! Case solved.

stuck on RUU??
Hae everyone, im completly new to this stuff and have no idea on what im doing.
ive got a HTC desire A8181.
it started off with only being able to turn on in cold tempuratures, but ive manage to fix that.
my problem is, i tried to reprogram the phone (because all it would boot to was the hboot). and it got stuck on sending the information to the phone using the stock rom, so i pulled out the usb and now it only ever boots into HTC symbol on a black screen with exclimation marks in all four corners.
ive tried may times with many diffrent ruu's and none of them work.
the only info ive got on what on the phone is

Thanks for your reply. working on trying it now, ill let you know how it goes.
is there anyway to update the Hboot version once i get the phone working?
You are on highest which you can get from ruu, there is one higher 1.03 which is unlocked from htcdev but I would not go that way, if you want to flash custom software from development section you should get s-off with revolutionary.io... The best thing is do some research and then decide what you would like to do...

The information you posted is from the bootloader screen, so it must still be able to start in bootloader mode?
Use bortak's troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of Q&A
Do not use any of those RUUs in that link. Search for the 2.3.3 GB RUU
Do you still want to have a custom ROM? If so all you needed to do was full wipe in recovery and install a different ROM, no need for RUU first.
thanks bro
yep its seem in bootloader page
why i press the vol- and power buton not go to fast boot mode when phone is off?? and go too this page? -_-
