[Q] i think my Desire HD bricked ! please help !

Hi,
I was trying to root my phone with the guide that is on this forum, but then when i restarted my phone, it was stuck on the white "HTC" boot screen. Then i tried to do a "Factory Reset" in hboot and rebooted, and still stuck on the boot screen. I tried to put a PD98IMG.zip as it was prompted in hboot as "no image or wrong file", so i loaded PD98IMG.zip onto my SD card, and still not working. any suggestions ?
my phone is S-ON.

I guess your phone is branded ? If that's the case, you need to follow the tutorial for a goldcard.
Also, if your rom is 1.7x or 1.8x, you can't root it. You have to follow the downgrade tutorial 1st

Mine took 30 mins to boot once. You could try the ruu look in dev section, you just flash it from Windows, then start again. Was your she branded?

I was in the same situation, downgraded ROM and clockwork mod and did a restore and it works fine now

@Howling Wolf - I cannot get the CID for the SD card, because
in the 'adb shell' command, my command prompt says "error: device not found". But i want to know, can i still get the CID through another HTC desire phone ? and can i still update a stock rom with S-ON ? and how do i know if my phone is branded ?
I got my phone from Taiwan, a friend brought it over for me, and when i last checked it was on software version 1.37.921.1 .

did you try installing the htc sync software then do adb devices

ye i did, i installed HTC sync to get the HTC drivers, but from what i noticed is that your phone needs to be "running" instead of being stuck on the white HTC boot screen or even the hboot doesnt pick up the device aswell >.<

Try going into bootloader, and then run adb from pc..

ok i acquired my CID through linux, but now its telling me
main version is older !
update fail.
any suggiestions ? my current software version of the phone is 1.37, which stock RUU should i be using ?

If you are on 1.37 you should be fine to continue with getting s-off and such. You don't need to upgrade or downgrade your ROM until you achieve s-off. And then you should upgrade to a custom ROM such as LeeDroid.

I fixed mine a few weeks back by doing a full wipe and then loading a fresh ROM

Thing is, i cant get my phone to start up, so i need to flash a stock rom, so that i can get my phone started and then do S-OFF. But it keeps telling me "Main Version is older!"
ive tried 2 roms already, 1.32 and 1.72 RUU. What could be the problem ?

thnx problem solved, the gold card wasnt done properly, so i re did everything.

@paulcoop007 i have same problem with you, same version with your phone and S-ON. and my phone at black screen with htc. how can i fix it. can you explain how did you fix your phone?

Locked the Phone after offical 2.3 update

Hi,
I have a serious problem and I could not fix it with anything I tried. Today I had the notification of the official 2.3 update for desire hd. I dowloaded it then the phone is stuck at the htc logo. I tried from bootloder to make factory reset recovery and also tried to flash some roms in fastboot mode.
None of them worked.
My first choice is to get back to 2.2 froyo, but I would like to hear recommendations about custom roms, especially if you have any rom advice wihch can increase battery life etc. I am not an expert in flashing roms however I can also consider for a custom rom in the light of your suggestions. Please help it would be much appreciated.

Hello, that sounds rubbish Had you been running a custom ROM before? What network are you on?

thanks a lot but in this thread it says that it can not be downgraded if it is 2.37 or higher when i have tried to flash a rom i see that the it is currently 2.37.720.3.
Do you there might be also another way??

Use the RUU and your pc to downgrade it to 2.36, it should work regardless of what you have on your phone.

let me tell you what i have done step by step.
ifound the rom below name specified.
RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.36.405.8_R_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_187331_signed
i enter the bootlodaer because i can not get anywhere else. i plug in the usn then select "fastboot" and it show fastboot usb.
then i run the ruu from pc it starts to flash ( it shows current version 2.37.720.3 and will 2.36. etc. )
then black screen with white htc logo comes but nothing moves further and at the end i get the " Custome ID Error "
i do not know may be i am using the wrong rom if you can please provide another link to another rom or may be a different solution with a custom rom...
i am really stuck at this.

Customer ID error normally means you need a goldcard

but please excuse my lack of knowledge, according to the instructions i have to use " gold card helper " via phone. my phone is now unusable. i have one android hd2 do you i can create the goldcard on hd2 according to the desire hd setting s and use it on desire hd????

i tried the godlcard solution but now it gave the error 140 bootloader version.
the only thing different than the steps it says chosee mmc2 value but on the goldcard helper i only saw mmc1 and i have sent the e-mail according to that...
what should i do?

since now the bootloader is pooched, you've pretty much bricked the device unless you can get your hands on the original ruu that your carrier uses.

[Q] Got rom but cant reboot normally.

I cant find my awnser anywhere so hope some1 knows it.
I bricked my phone 2 days ago.
i finally got a rom installed. 2.1 update1.
but now if i wanna reboot it goes to HTC logo with 4 triangles in the corner.
If i want to go to recovery only works with fastboot.
Bootloader wont start with the buttons.
its hboot 93 S-off
i tried to reflash it everthing.
Nothing helps to normally start recovery or the bootloader.
so i cant put my phone off otherwise i have to connect it to the computer and type FASTBOOT OEM BOOT.
then it starts again.
otherwise only HTC with 4 triangles
PLEAS help.

Sounds nasty and looks weird. Flashing stock should have taken care of things. Maybe try another stock ROM.

Well indeed its a stock rom. but no luck yet to get the bootloader properly back.
and use search well. didn't you think i didn't searched yet.
only thing they say is use the buttons to get in bootloader.

Couldn't you flash them? Maybe because of cid error?

But i tried it when my phone was on the screen with HTC and the 4 triangles in each corner.
dont know if my phone has to be on or something.
Because Unrevoked didnt worked, because with the restart.
Alpharev didn't work because with the restart.
As soon as i restart it goes to the HTC logo with 4 triangles each corner.
But i will try the RUU again

Create a goldcard:

Put this in your desire and then try to run ruu again. This should avoid the cid error 110.

But i never used a Goldcard before :S

Installing Stock Rom doesn't work

Hi there,
as I recently bought the HTC One X, I wanted to reinstall a Stock Rom to my old Desire. Unfortunately it won't work for some reason, as I always get an Error [110].
I have tried the following releases from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 :
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
(the phone used to be branded by o2 Germany, but I wanted to install a branding-free rom).
When I try to start the boot loader of the Desire now, I just get the HT screen with warning signs in all 4 corners. Please find attached a photo of the screen + a screenshot from the error message (for some reason it's in German, but you'll get the idea).
As I cannot access the actual hboot (CM7rev2 hboot was installed) I can't even install a "normal" rom.
As I don't necessarily need the phone right now it's not that urgent, but I hope you can help me anyway.

did you change hboot back to stock? I haven't done it first time and got the same problem. there is a solution but can't remember where.. try googling..

No, forgot about that, but now it seems like it's too late to do this, isn't it?

From my understanding, that state your phone is in is fastboot. That means you can probably flash the hboot downgrader from alpharev and run a RUU again.
via xda app

your phone is in fastboot mode at the HTC logo with 4 "!". Download hboot downgrader from alpharev and flash it before rerunning RUU.

but if you dont have S-Off, cant access to anything instead of fastboot.. from which i can only flash stock ruu's but no one of ruu's are installing successfuly.
so i cant flash hboot, recovery or anything else... that means that the only solution is to reach nearest JTag service...

hm... but if he forgot to downgrade then I assume that he was s-off. so it's doable. I was there... scared the p*ss out of me... ;-)

He should still be S-Off if he's still on CM7r2 hboot.

It won't work with revolutionary / alpharev, it's always stuck at "Waiting for device".
I really don't know what to do now. Any other ideas?
EDIT: I also tried unrevoked just to see if it recognizes my phone, but its the same there: "Waiting for device".

Its late and I'm tired so sorry if you've already tried this...
Install HTC software on your pc and android sdk (to get the drivers and fastboot)
Plug in your phone when its on the 4 !'s screen
fastboot flash alpharevs bravo_downgrade.img
unplug the phone, pull the battery, put it back in, turn it back on then plug it back in (or just reboot the boot loader with fastboot)
then try running this RUU http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4a4027/n/RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
If that doesnt work see what version it says you're when the ruu says what version you're on and what you're updating to and download the ruu with the same number as the one you already have and see if that helps.

[Q] Original ROM error

On my HTC HD I have a custom ROM and ROOT. I wanted unroot. Im flash RUU original ROM (.zip) but Im flash US and I have europe device. Im flash US rom occurred error - reboot phone. Now, my device I turn after several times the switching on and remove the batteries. I don´t can get in bootloader!!! Install RUU ROM (.exe) my computer write error. Please help I want Unroot and original ROM.

I recommend you to use the aahk to revert to stock. Put the stock to germany because at that ruu the ota update works . It's with sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5:good:

Chovky, if your phone is not booting and u don't have at least fastboot, you won't be able to flash a RUU...the question is, is not booting at all or is very slow and u are stuck in the splash screen?

Phone can be turned on, but cannot go to Bootloader. I tried to install .exe RUU (WWE)through PC but write error (exe RUU from the site -shipped-roms).

You find the passcode in the effen manual :thumbup:
And it generates a new passcode every time you start it.

Don't turn on

If you cant turn on the phone then try to connect your charger before trying to start. And if it doesn't start then I'm afraid you bricked and need to send in the phone to HTC or buy a riff tag box (don't know if the spelling is right).

Chovky, all what u are describing is in the effen manual. Take some time to read for comprehension. If you keep trying things you might mess the phone to no turning back issue.
If your phone boots to a black screen, then just fix your pc and re run the Kit from that screen. That is in the Manual....:good:
